Ah barking that's so unfortunate if she does leave (I do love the fact they need so many people to cover what you do though! Superwoman.) My cover last time left the day my waters broke!! After all the time I'd trained her :( then the next person didn't stay either. Clearly something wrong with my job! Wink

StubbleTurnips · 14/10/2016 07:59

South hope the itching calms down

barking can't believe people are finishing for mat leave already! I was in a meeting yesterday looking for a slot in my diary - there's nothing left between now and November. It's going fast now.

Nojo82 · 14/10/2016 08:43

south hope you can get the itching under control.

Thanks bigfam. Ive never actually stock piled before and true ds2 had reflux and had to get prescription milk. So not a good idea. But think ill get 1 or 2 boxes in, think im just in a panic coz im due xmas day.. silly i know, the shops only close for 1 day..

So had a bad day yday with my pulse going mad, first time as bad in a few weeks. Really knocked me for six, just wipes me out. Thankful for not having to go to work.

SunnySideDownUp · 14/10/2016 11:50

Called the midwives about the itching, not sure why I bothered! Got told not to wear perfumed things Hmm

I'll either wait until Monday and call triage, or if it's really bad again tomorrow I'll duck out of a family thing and get it checked then.

I just hate the way some midwives are so patronising!

wilfrhodes · 14/10/2016 13:35

so i had a bit of a panic yesterday with lack of movement after the fall and ended up at triage. turns out the baby has moved to the back and anterior placement has combined to make it very elusive. took three midwives and an ultrasound to locate a strong enough heartbeat for the monitor to pick up to record a half-hour's activity.

barking that is awful! of course it is your employer's problem but they really need to step up now to identify a solution that will take the stress off you.

south urgh, itching is the worst. i second the suggestion of oats - pop them in some muslin and run a bath through it. maybe try oilatum too? it appears to be safe for pregnancy. can you contact a different midwife about this? it might just be a blind spot for this one!

nightcap · 14/10/2016 18:05

Good to hear you got checked over wilf, have they said if you need further monitoring it are they happy that all's well?

I've been trying to keep up with the thread but haven't posted in a while. Ended up spending the morning in hospital the other day as I had some weird stomach pains and wasn't sure if they were anything to worry about. Maternity unit was super thorough and tested pretty much everything but luckily all fine so no idea what was making me feel vomity and my stomach go rock hard, am guessing maybe the start of braxton hicks? I thought I'd know all this stuff third time around but still get confused at this stage about which pains to worry about and which ones are normal!

Grapefruit8 · 14/10/2016 20:11

Ohhh so envious of everyone starting Mat leave in the next couple of weeks!! Is anyone else having loads of pressure down low? Literally in the last couple of days, I don't know if it's because baby has shifted but I'm so uncomfortable all of a sudden Confused

StubbleTurnips · 14/10/2016 20:34

grape yes in my lower back / top of my bum. I'm also afraid that I now 'waddle' Sad

Nojo82 · 14/10/2016 21:01

Yes grape im getting pressure. Keep thinking that its very early on to b having it. Waddling too turnips. Feel like a beached whale, can barely pick things up of the floor. To think i should be working another 4 weeks if i hadnt have been signed off. Def couldnt have done it..

Popskipiekin · 14/10/2016 21:36

Anyone else ridiculously emotional? Have had an average to bad day at work, nothing out of the ordinary, but on top of that - total first world problem! - John Lewis have now failed to deliver my cot bed for two days running, and some guy whacked me in the shoulder whilst I was walking home, and now I'm just lying here bawling! Thank god it's the weekend.

wilfrhodes · 14/10/2016 21:39

nightcap they're satisfied everything's fine and i had good emotional support from my maternity cover during the day, so i can have a settled weekend now. sorry to hear you had a hospital visit too. i guess it's to be expected?

another eight weeks of work for me, with the odd day off along the way. i might take on a project that means i can work from home for the last month, though, which i am increasingly liking the sound of, i must say!

wilfrhodes · 14/10/2016 21:41

popski yes! nearly broke down in tears on the way home when i walked along the same stretch of road where i fell on wednesday. ridiculous!! am going to steer clear of emotionally involving films or books - i don't think i could handle it at the moment!

barkingtreefrog · 14/10/2016 21:42

stubble waddling on crutches over here!
Nightcap I'm getting loads of braxton hicks, bump keeps going rock hard all the time. I've also got nausea back.

Nojo same here, got one more week at work and can't imagine a day more. I've already spent this week doing half a day at home and half a day in the office as the spd pain gets too bad if I'm sat at my desk too long. I thought the pain was easing yesterday but it's been really bad even with the crutches today Angry

SolomanDaisy · 14/10/2016 21:49

I dropped something on the floor earlier, looked at it for a while and decided it would have to stay there until someone else picked it up. The swelling in my feet has spread to my calves and it's SO uncomfortable, it's actually getting in the way more than my SPD now. I've also got a chest cold which is waking me up at night a lot. I feel ancient.

StubbleTurnips · 14/10/2016 21:55

Sol I use my monkey feet to pick everything up, its an essential skill if your spd allows that range of movement.

nightcap · 14/10/2016 22:18

Sorry to hear you e got the nausea back barking, if it's not one thing it's another... I guess this is just standard late pregnancy, if the weepy hormones or spd don't get us all the BH contractions and insomnia will! I do remember this stage starting to really drag last time around. Still another seven weeks of work and commuting for me here too, urgh.

Finally gave in and bought a maternity coat, aiming to resell on eBay when I don't need it anymore. I was trying to get by with existing stuff but my normal winter coat is starting to look completely ridiculous and it gets too cold wearing it open.

SolomanDaisy · 14/10/2016 22:39

stubble, my feet are too swollen to manage that, unfortunately! I've been training DS to pick everything up off the floor. I may have gone a little far, the other day he took his socks and shoes off and put them on a table within my reach!

I had an amazing waddle, but the physio has shown me a new walk which stops it. Basically rolling my feet more so I roll right onto my big toe, shorter steps and faster. It does mean walking requires constant concentration though!

Nojo82 · 15/10/2016 07:35

Back pain so bad i was dreaming about it. Typically weekend, no alarm set, DH up with youngest (very early riser), and im wide awake! Just want to sleep, or ill b falling asleep in the afternoon.

goinggrey1978 · 15/10/2016 11:39

hi everyone, glad it's not just me that's feeling rough and ancient too!!
stupid sore leg has made me re-think things and i've moved my maternity leaving date forward to 31/10/16 just waiting on the paperwork plus having this chest infection have knocked me for six!!
luckily i have a very understanding boss and work collogues too!!
on a plus point bubble is absolutely fine and incredibly active, for most of yesterday it felt like bubble was trying to break out!!
also exciting news is i picked up a 2nd hand changing table with drawers earlier in the week, and all of a sudden it all seems even more real that bubble is on the way, as the changing table is now in bubbles end of my bedroom!!
9 weeks to go and counting till bubbles potential arrival!!

duxb · 15/10/2016 13:13

Hi all, sorry to hear people are suffering. I've had a handle on my SPD but it's getting tough now. Two weeks left at work and I'm not really sleeping at all. Roll on maternity leave!

Just wanted to let you know that if you spend £20+ on baby stuff at boots (some exclusions, clothes and I think food) then you get a free baby bundle. I believe this is up to the 18th October and it has some rather nice stuff in it!

stripeyorangesocks71 · 15/10/2016 13:32

Duxb I got the free gift when you spend £20 on baby stuff in boots today. Stocked up on maternity pads, disposable mats and breast pads, and a few other bits and got the freebie, really pleased with it!

Lovewatchingrainfall · 15/10/2016 14:20

Do you mind telling me what's in the box? Is it worth getting? I have a few bits to get and just wondered if worth getting in Boots instead?

Feel sorry for thoses with SPD. I am currently trying to deal with my DD having nightmares so spends most of the time awake and then full on during the day included major tantrum s because she is so tired :-( had a week of it now.

Kitch82 · 15/10/2016 14:30

duxb try folding over a double duvet and putting it under the sheet on your side of the be . I've found this really helps and stopped me having to turn over every 30mins cos of hip pain. My side looks like something out of the Princess and the Pea at the moment.

duxb · 15/10/2016 15:01

It was a complete surprise to be honest, I went in for nipple cream, maternity pads etc and qualified. The box has in it some treats for mum (mini sanctuary spa salt scrub & body wash and an under eye brightening gel) and then full sized products for baby - some baby wipes, a pack of travel baby wipes, large cotton wool pads, a trial pack of three nappies, some baby wash and bubble bath combo and two teethers. Pretty good!

The maternity stuff was on 3 for 2 as well, so ended up being an absolute bargain.

Lovewatchingrainfall · 15/10/2016 15:29

Thank you for that dubx may have to pop into my local boots then get the bits I need.
