I am dreading telling work...feel like I could have a panic attack just thinking about it. I have literally just started a new role (promotion) in a new team...and I know it's going to look like as soon as I have got a bigger salary I've got pregnant for the better mat pay. (Not the case at all, this little bean was a total surprise!) Also they interviewed so many people for the role, the managers are bound to regret choosing me over someone else when they find out....
Going to wait as long as possible before telling work, I want them to get to know me and see how hard working I am before I drop the bombshell!!!

jennymac31 · 28/09/2016 17:52

Afternoon ladies

Hope you are all doing OK. Nausea is still coming and going but the sore boobs seemed to have subsided for now!

Am having difficulties c+p my due date details from the first thread but hopefully I can get the details up later.

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 28/09/2016 17:57

Gurtie I know what you mean, I'm in a similar situation. I fought for a promotion with all my might this summer and they are creating a new senior role for me that I'm due to start in January. Only to do it for five months:( We are currently setting objectives for the next year and I cringe everytime they give a completion deadline of for example July 17 when - fingers crossed - I will be happily at home with a two month old.

beachsands · 28/09/2016 18:42

Just marking place so I can read back tonight on the huge amount of posts on thread 2! Not caught up yet. Was sick for first time this morning. Now it's evening I look about 5 months pregnant. Obviously bloat but wow! I look ridiculous.

EsmesBees · 28/09/2016 19:39

Marking place too. Can't believe there are so many messages already. Really done with the sickness and tiredness now. Hope it suddenly disappears at ten weeks like last time.

Peasy1 · 28/09/2016 19:58

Can't keep up! Hi to the newbies and glad to start seeing some scan pics. We're booked a private scan for two weeks when I'll be 10+4 but it still feels ages away. Getting mega bloat and sudden need to eat which I had about this stage last time.

I'm also waiting for an interim promotion to be made permanent before I tell my boss. Luckily I don't see him much but he's in the middle of next year's budgets and I would have told him so he could add some money in to cover me if he'd sorted out my contract and pay rise by now!

I can't copy the stats so if anyone is adding yours, please can you add me too? Peasy1, DC#2, EDD 6th May

Peasy1 · 28/09/2016 19:59

Hanflan try not to worry. I remember saying at 9/10 weeks last time I could see how people were a few months pregnant without realising as I felt so normal. FX you get your scan date soon. x

ginandcake · 28/09/2016 21:01

Just got back from our scan. All looking good, dates almost right, 9+1 today making my EDD the 2nd May.

Now going to try and catch up with all the posts!

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 28/09/2016 21:04

Look at your baby ginandcake, a perfect little bean.

EsmesBees · 28/09/2016 21:27

Great scan pic gin. Would be a nice birthday, always around the bank holiday.

Rabbitykins55 · 28/09/2016 21:41

I'm still waiting for a hospital appointment. Is that normal? I'm 8 weeks 5 days. I had a letter saying I'd get an appointment within two weeks, that came and went, two me two days to get through on the phone just to be told I'm on the list. I don't want to hound them but at at same time I don't want to miss something important. As its my first I don't really know what to do for the best.

Peasy1 · 28/09/2016 21:57

Rabbity everywhere seems to be different. My first appt is when I'm 10 weeks. I would chase them up but only because I'd want to know when it was so I can manage my work around it. If you can be flexible on when you have it, perhaps wait until the weekend and chase next week?

Peasy1 · 28/09/2016 21:58

That's my midwife appt. My hospital scan is 13 ish weeks as we're on holiday the week before when they wanted to do it

Badgerbird · 28/09/2016 22:25

adventure and sonnet sorry to hear you're both feeling so rough on top of preggo symptoms, let's hope the colds don't hang around for long. jonsnow that sounds like hell!! I'm on my feet all day but don't think I could cope if I had a high up brain mongering job where I had to converse with people a lot!

hanflan I really hope you're mind has been put at rest a little, it's such a horrible scary feeling. I had a cry before work this morning, convinced its gone wrong again..... bloody hormones don't help!

talulah and gin I'm loving the happy healthy scans Smile Keep them coming ladies!

lullaby23 · 29/09/2016 00:27

Lovely scan gin.

No plans to tell anyone early here, might tell parents once we've had a scan but I'd prefer to wait until 12 weeks. Would like to tell my BF but she has had TTC issues so don't want to be insensitive.

Rabbitykins55 · 29/09/2016 06:21

Thanks Peasy. I don't mind when it is but I need to know for work so I can book the time off, when I called the midwife said I'll be seen at 10 weeks but that's week after next! If it's not arrived by Saturday I think I'll call Monday. It'll take me all week to get through! If your call isn't answered within ten minutes you get cut off, very annoying!

ImogenTubbs · 29/09/2016 08:24

Gurtie and JonSnow - I hope your companies are reasonable, as they have a legal obligation to be. They didn't make the wrong decision - they obviously thought you were the best people for the jobs, and having a baby doesn't change that. If you were a man and decided to leave to get a better job they would have to deal with that as well. You have no reason to feel guilty. If they treat you properly you might just come back and go on to do brilliant work! (You can probably tell, I feel quite strongly about this issue Smile)

Sonnet18 · 29/09/2016 08:41

Agree with imogen! A friend of mine got her promotion at around 8 weeks pregnant- she was/is right for the job and is doing a very good job 6 months pregnant just now and will continue to do a good job next year!
Ps- I used to care about work things...after my baby it's weird how I couldn't care less anymore! I am still professional and hardworking but...Priorities and all that. Once your baby comes along you'll forget all about feeling worried about work!

Just adding myself in. Marking my spot, thanks for the new thread. Great to see some scan photos I cannot believe my bean is at this stage. I am really not sure when to tell people, I too have started a new job and it is a promotion as well, not looking forward to letting them know. I think I am relunctant to tell people because am concerned that my family will be negative, because I already have 3 children, which they think is alot. It is none of their business but I still dont want to deal with negative comments. my sister-in-law is due her first baby in February and she was complaining the other day that her sister brought her wedding forward, just so she could get pregnant so that my sister in laws baby would not be the only new baby, not sure how she will take the news about me, not well I think!

4sacharm · 29/09/2016 09:06

gin cute scan photo, hello baby!

MissMooMoo · 29/09/2016 09:13

Love seeing all thr scan photos.

Can anyone recommend a sleeping bra or vest? I have been fine just sleeping in my normal pyjamas up until now but last night my boobs were very tingly all night long and sore. I am a tummy sleeper so I think that is making it worse, it will be hard to adjust when my bump starts growing

FoxMulder · 29/09/2016 10:06

Major sympathies to my fellow sickies. It's utterly miserable. I'm incapable of doing anything at all and I'm not keeping much down so I'm feeling pretty weak. Only peeing once a day as am so dehydrated. Listened to a pregnancy relaxation cd yesterday which really helped me eat something though actually.

teainbed · 29/09/2016 10:14

It's hard isn't it Fox? I feel like I can't really moan because it was something we wanted. And I know there would be women who have struggled with fertility or MC would bite your hand off just to get this far.

Interesting that the relaxation session helped, I find when I'm busy or distracted especially at work I can forget about it a bit so there must be a tiny bit of a mental component to it.

What I'd really like it to be mainlining biscuits but even that's not ok with diabetes as your control has to be super tight in pregnancy. I'm really hoping the worst will be over in a few weeks.

Brightsmoke · 29/09/2016 10:31

Help everyone.

Can I join you lovely lot please?

I've just caught up on the first mammoth thread, only to find out at the end there's another to get through, doh!

I'm 24 and expecting first baby on 8th May, so currently 8+3.

Had my booking in app Tuesday, had some bleeding (very dark brown so old blood I think) Tuesday and a bit yesterday when I wiped (sorry for TMI), and as I'm a natural born worrier, we've decided to have a private scan on Saturday, so looking forward to it but also dreading the worst.

Am hoping baby will come 5th may, as it will be our first wedding anniversary.

Will send a PM in a min to join the FB group.

Pretty much everyone knows my end, my job means I can't do it when pregnant, so on light/office duties, and when a female goes on lights, there pretty much only 1 reason why! So told my family and OH family, but would want people to know for the support.

Hope everyone is doing well, I'm on day 2 off work (this week!) due to sickness.

FoxMulder · 29/09/2016 10:33

I have no such qualms about moaning tea Smile. I honestly think that I would have been more careful not to get pregnant if I'd have known how sick I would get again. I thought I would be saved by taking meds early. I've lost 2kgs already and I've only been sick a week.
