I've woken today in such a foul mood and absolutely no reason for it. Huffed and puffed at my husband because he put the wrong light on in the living room - i mean seriously what are my hormones doing?!

With regards to maternity package because I've been with my company for over 2yrs I get 16 weeks full pay, 8 weeks half pay, 4 weeks at twice the SMP rate, 11 weeks SMP and then 13 weeks unpaid.

I'm the only person who does my job and I'm responsible for 12 offices globally so I'm interested to see what my boss decides to do about cover. I've my 12 week scan on Monday and will be telling her the following week when she's back from holiday.

FoxMulder · 20/10/2016 09:51

This is my 4th week off work (unpaid). I get bugger all in the way of maternity pay because I don't earn enough. Yay.

MissMooMoo · 20/10/2016 09:52

Just SMP for me

FoxMulder · 20/10/2016 09:54

Wow skipper congratulations. How weird to know it's a girl already! I don't even believe there's anything in there at all!

Streaky17 · 20/10/2016 09:55

I'm feeling fine apart from a cold developing and being hungry/nauseous. Sorry to hear that people are feeling rubbish.

My maternity package is 13weeks full, 13 @ 50%, 13 @Smp, 13 zero. But I'm not sure how holidays work into that.

Anyone else feel like they pull something in their tummy when they sneeze? So disconcerting.

EsmesBees · 20/10/2016 09:58

Great news skipper. Little girls are great.

That's actually not a bad package Sonnet. It's shocking how little some employers offer. Mine is public sector so 26 weeks full pay and 13 weeks SMP and 13 weeks unpaid. We will probably do shared parental leave like last time.

Adventuregame · 20/10/2016 10:09

Great harmony result Sipper - do you know if there is an optimum time they prefer to do harmony or can you go after the 12 week scan ?

10+1 here and yesterday was back to retching terribly after I got off the train from my hour commute. Don't actually know how I've made it in to work today - longing for the weekend.

DH is away with work so having to cook etc when I get in then go straight to bed....

Sipperskipper · 20/10/2016 10:35

adventure you can have it any time from 10 weeks - I only did mine so early as they do a package which includes nuchal scan too (having that next week)

lucieloos · 20/10/2016 10:46

Brilliant news sipper!

lullaby23 · 20/10/2016 10:57

Congrats on the results and little girl sipper can't wait for mine!

Woohoo sipper!!! Such great news Smile I'm hoping to get mine done next fri/sat. I read somewhere that they take a more indepth look at organs etc to see if any probs but when I asked my closest clinic they said no as it's too early.... anyone else heard that or am I going mad ? Quite possible Confused

Just to get it straight in my head:
nhs nuchal/combined test vs harmony etc - both are non invasive but you would need cvs/amniocentesis if high risk?
Main difference being Harmony you can have earlier and is more accurate?
Anyone going on to have NHS combined after harmony? Not sure what happens if results say different things....

Regards to mat pay I'm self employed so hopefully get £138 per week for 29 wks from government but that's it. We've been saving and I hope to have 3-4 months off but realistically not sure how that would work or if I'd have jobs to go back to Sad Kinda hoping I might get a little bit of mat pay or something from one of my jobs as I've been there 10 years.....

Adventuregame · 20/10/2016 11:03

Sipper I was tempted by the early package too but just couldn't fir it in at 10 weeks due to DH being away. Also after mmc last year I'm cautious to book things in ?

PeachIcedT · 20/10/2016 11:13

Great news sipper! I can't believe you already know it's a little girl! That's a great extra from having the harmony.

My maternity pay is complicated only in that I am NHS but have been offered another job which I'm seriously considering but am waiting for them to confirm my maternity entitlement. I think by moving I would lose the SMP component but be eligible for maternity allowance? It's very confusing and I need to find out before I can decide. Also a bit concerned about how much change in going to encounter over the next year!

Badgerbird · 20/10/2016 11:17

Blimey adventure I know what you mean about being nervous booking stuff. I was on the phone in tears yesterday to maternity unit saying maybe I should leave my booking in appointment with midwife till after I've had my 10 wk scan incase the baby hasn't made it and it's all a horrid waste of time! I think she thought I was nuts (she also says I should keep booking app) but just so fricking nervous at the mo. Mmc's mess with your head!!

Adventuregame · 20/10/2016 11:23

Badger totally get that. I had my booking in and was really blase about it. DH was away so I went on my own and just answered all the questions without really feeling any emotions - midwife probably thought I was cold ! I find it strange that when you say you've had an MMC nobody seems to ask how you're feeling this time and if you're nervous etc ?
I know when it comes to my scan I'm going to be a mess ! I have such a clear memory of the scan after a night in A&E where I saw the baby but didn't realise it should have been moving. I won't dare look this time.

McBaby · 20/10/2016 11:34

I did have a scan before my booking appointment as I didn't want to do the booking with no baby again after a mmc in July. The midwife was very sympathetic at my booking yesterday and understood why I was nervous this time.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/10/2016 11:37

Fab news Sipperskipper , that's lovely.

If you don't mind me asking, and please tell me to naff off if it's really hurtful and insensitive, people who've had MMC, did you have any idea before or did symptoms carry on and then it just wasn't alright when you got to see it?

I've had a mc but I knew straight away what was going on. I always thought if you weren't bleeding or in pain everything was fine, and now the more I read the more the worry's getting to me. Not all the time, but enough.

Adventuregame · 20/10/2016 11:55

Anne with mine I had no morning sickness for the whole time but my mum told me she didn't have any with me so I thought that was why. I had a little soreness of boobs but that did go away fairly early on. With me the baby had actually stopped at 9 weeks but I had no idea. I started to bleed just a small amount 2 days before my 12 weeks scan and then started having serious pains which I knew was bad so I went to A&E. It was in fact a mini labour situation and excruciating so I was given gas and air. The pain and bleeding all stopped but even then my body was still hanging on to the baby which was shown in a scan the next morning so I chose an ERPC to remove it (for want of a nicer word).

I can't pretend it wasn't awful but you really just have to take each day as it comes or you'll drive yourself mad. I had no idea that MMcs were even a thing and I think it should be spoken about more really.

Sorry if all that frightens anyone - not my intention.

McBaby · 20/10/2016 12:04

I felt there was something wrong the whole time as I had no sore breasts, morning sickness, exhaustion, metallic taste, little bloating, no food aversions. My morning sickness kicked in before 3 weeks when pregnant with the girls and a felt so pregnant from day 1. Everyone kept telling me every pregnancy is different and as time went on I started to believe it would be ok as I didn't have and bleeding or cramping till 10 weeks. But I really was not surprised there wasnt a baby when they did a scan at 10 weeks due to bleeding!

McBaby · 20/10/2016 12:05

The baby stopped developing at 4/5 weeks so v v early.

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/10/2016 12:17

Thank you Adventuregame and McBaby, it must be painful to think about it but I really appreciate you sharing x

I have plenty of symptoms, I felt sure I was pregnant from very early on and I don't feel any different today. But for some reason it's started to bother me that I'm trusting my body too much. Might be residual anxiety from mc just before I conceived this time, literally didn't have af in between.

DH is stressing there's more than one and I just want to know this one - that I love so much already - is fine, in the right place, heart beating well, growing nicely.

Sonnet18 · 20/10/2016 12:18

Same as other ladies. No symptoms whatsoever but my mum said she felt fine throughout her pregnancies so I just assumed pregnancy was a breeze! Baby stopped developing at 5ish weeks and I turned up to my 12 week scan having never heard of a mmc before in my life. Only weird thing for me was that I kept needing to pee- obviously my womb was remaining pressed on my bladder. I eventually naturally miscarried at around 13/14 weeks...but knew at the 12 week scan that I didn't have my dates wrong and was just waiting on the inevitable.

lucieloos · 20/10/2016 12:30

Unfortunately it's very possible to have a missed miscarriage and still have all the usual pregnancy symptoms as it can take a long time for hcg to drop right back down. This is what really worries me when going for the scans.

Streaky17 · 20/10/2016 12:47

Anne we could be pregnancy twins! My OH dreamed of twins the other night so declared it to be true.
We have slightly more to base that on due to the possibility of a second heart beat on my ovarian cyst scan at 5,5. Trying not to think about it until the scan. Obviously will be pleased if one is there.
Booking apt tomorrow -yay! I also must figure out if the reception lady there is my friends mum.

Thanks to all for your honesty talking about mmcs. I'm not sure why it has helped me but it has. Thank you!

AnneLovesGilbert · 20/10/2016 12:57

Smile Streaky

My DH already has twins....

Having convinced myself I'd be one of the lucky ones who stays the same size bar a neat bump appearing around the 20 week mark, the sheer size of me day on day has got us both freaked and he's adamant there's at least 2 in there! A second heart beat at your scan you say...?!

Enjoy your appointment tomorrow, hope it goes well.
