ScottishSnowflake · 23/09/2016 13:50

Many congrats Wispa! Smile

A quick question before my scan! Are the sonographers happy to answer general questions you might have....because I think they're often qualified midwives too? I want to ask about the aches/pains I've been getting low down - I'm sure the scan will answer this, as I suspect bubs is basically bouncing around on my cervix! - but I want to query with an expert!!

I also noticed - and didn't know if any of you have experienced this? - that just from today onwards I've got really badly dry skin on my cheeks/jawline Sad. It may be as simple as keeping hydrated, but I didn't know if it's a wonderful further side effect of being pregnant! Thankfully our loos at work have moisturiser, so I've been slapping it on. My skin looks kinda red, though, which is annoying!! And of course it just had to be my face....

Vixxfacee · 23/09/2016 14:10

Kiki I have been experiencing the same thing. I had a red patch come up on my neck that looked like an old love bite. The next day it went brown and then starting flaking like bad dry skin. I used coconut oil and it went in a few days but then it came back! I have a dry patch on the side of my neck and the front plus a small dry patch on my chin. Awful but coconut oil is helping.

Vixxfacee · 23/09/2016 14:11

Is anybody getting a 4d scan?

twocatsandatoddler · 23/09/2016 15:18

Kiki the lady I had at the Rosie on Tues was also a midwife so I'm sure she was qualified to answer general questions if I'd had any. The one at the 12 week scan wasn't a midwife though.

kikisdelivery · 23/09/2016 15:20

twocats! a local person! Grin I didn't realise we were at the same place.

I'm heading off in 10 mins or so.... eep!! I'm drinking some Dr Pepper to get things moving down there!!

twocatsandatoddler · 23/09/2016 15:24

kiki I've literally just got back from the Rosie actually as I had a VBAC appointment this afternoon!

FriendlyGhost · 23/09/2016 15:58

I had my scan this morning. All is well and I'm having another girl! The sonographer was lovely and talked us through everything and was happy to answer questions. We had to go out after about 20 minutes for a drink, walk and chocolate because the baby wouldn't budge from a tricky position but it worked out well because we got another scan 15 minutes later!

Shellbell0403 · 23/09/2016 16:48

vixx when I went for my gender scan she flicked the 4d on so got a wee nosey!

Just at the maternity triage, such a dull and boring room!!

Evergreen17 · 23/09/2016 17:07

Wispa baby girl!!Smile how exciting!
Friendly another girl! Yay!
How long did it take? I have the morning off for scan but I have to go back to work after that.

FriendlyGhost · 23/09/2016 17:15

Evergreen my scan was at 9.50 and they saw me on the dot. Despite a very difficult baby who refused to cooperate we were finished by 11. I did have to have two scans though!

MarjorySunshineDust · 23/09/2016 17:24

ordinary I didn't use cloth nappies but love washable wipes, will be using those again.

Evergreen17 · 23/09/2016 17:26

Ahhh
Friendly that sounds great! Mine is at 10 in a week. A whole week. I cant wait that long Sad
Today 19+4 for the first time I was at work and I thought I was going to faint Sad
Anyone else??? Just very lightheaded and a bit sick. I spoke to my manager and she said they had given me a really hard day and I shouldnt have days like those. I dunno, I am feeling a bit nauseous now. Damn! I thought I would be without problems and now this.
Is this normal?? Should I call someone and ask? I felt so faint

twocatsandatoddler · 23/09/2016 17:31

evergreen sounds like you might have overdone it, last time the only time I felt nauseous in second trimester was when I was really tired and had done too much. Maybe take it easy and see how you feel after you get some rest? If it doesn't go, or if you're really worried then I wouldn't hesitate to give the midwives at your hospital a call as they'll be able to advice you better than we can!

twocatsandatoddler · 23/09/2016 17:44

Advise, not advice! My phone autocorrects that every time for some reason!

Shellbell0403 · 23/09/2016 17:54

ever give the midwife a wee call just to give urself reassurance! Plus u might get a cheeky wee scan out of it!
I had pains and a heavy feeling in my lower stomach, I called the midwife and I'm now at the hospital waiting to be seen! They told me best to get it checked out!
Now waiting on the doc coming to see me shiting myself!!!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 23/09/2016 17:54

Oh congrats on the baby girls! You were hoping to have another one weren't you wispa so she could wear the lovely clothes you have? I hope the other Wispa is recovering from the op too.

I'm still quite irritated that even though my due date is end of January, I still haven't had the 20 wk scan! Just have to be patient for Tuesday and try not to buy anything at the babyfest tomorrow, DH doesn't want to buy anything til he's seen a chubby functioning baby with two arms and two legs.

Are there any major things to be thinking about for the scan that could go wrong? Everyone seems to have had v smooth experiences so far but always best to be prepared for bad news...

Evergreen17 · 23/09/2016 18:02

Thanks twocats maybe because it is friday and I did have a very hard week.
My mouth feels very dry though Confused

Evergreen17 · 23/09/2016 18:04

Oh ok but i haven't called anyone yet. I have a phone number for midwives team but it is an answering machine to leave a message.
Or an urgent number. I dont feel this is urgent though is it?

Carly6971 · 23/09/2016 18:49

ever I often feel light headed and sometimes (twice) like my legs are going to go from under me to the point of having to stop and sit down. It's always when I am either on a mammoth dog walk or have been mega busy...I am cod with my house so no such thing as taking it easy in my world lol...constantly got 'jobs' to do! I wouldn't say it's an emergency no. Just rest up and take it easy tonight. Drink lots and sure you will feel better tomorrow 😊

Carly6971 · 23/09/2016 18:50

Ocd not cod! Lol x

kikisdelivery · 23/09/2016 18:53

Scan all done! As always I fretted, for no reason Smile we are now officially members of TEAM BLUE!!!! Grin I can now start ALL the shopping!!

Sorry to hear you're feeling ill Ever, rest up and definitely contact the midwife team if you need to, it's why they are there x

twocatsandatoddler · 23/09/2016 18:55

Yay for little boys kiki! We're outnumbered so far!
