Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

potato we plan on going out and doing lots of walking/visiting coffee shops to give him plenty to look at. We also have a baby gym and a swing for when we're feeling lazy. Other than that, I'm just going to wing it, Harrison is already so much more alert!

marmitecheesetoast · 20/09/2016 10:04

Thanks potato I hope you're right!

Well done on the studying that sounds impressive!

Congrats dr! Sorry you're having a rough time with the stitches but at least LO is here now and things will be on the up from now on.

My LO always has her hands in front of her face in her scans so I worry she will come down with her hands by her head and give me a good tear too Confused

potato well done on finding the motivation! I will need to do the same too as technology moves quite quickly in my field and by the time I go back to work in a year my skill set may very well be out of date! I just don't know if i will be motivated enough!

happy anniversary leonie!! I'm also due around our anniversary so we've not really made plans just in case - would be nice if she came before so we can celebrate with the best present ever Smile

leoniethelioness · 20/09/2016 10:36

Theo slept from midnight to 1.15 and 1.45 until 4.15 before I gave him to DH. I think he slept until 6.30 when DH gave him a bottle of EBM. I got up about 8. It's our wedding anniversary today and we're not even sleeping in the same bed. We were finding the sleep deprivation awful so are putting in shifts - mine longer as I'm only expressing enough for one bottle and DH is going back to work so needs more sleep as he can't nap in the daytime.

Congratulations, Dr.

Thinking of you, Nev.

Stunning canvas, Miley.

IndiX · 20/09/2016 10:57

Morning ladies,

Pregsomnia didn't get me last nightGrin I was up 4 times for a wee but went straight back to sleep, thank god!
Sorry to hear babies are keeping you up, has anyone looked in to the Gina Ford books? She does routines for babies. A couple of friends of mine swore by them but I'm still undecided on whether to try them out. I'll see how desperate I get when Beanie arrives!

Massive congratulations Dr hope you and Edward are doing well. Sorry to hear you tore and your stitches are painful. Look after yourself.

Nev hope Bodhi and you are doing ok today.

Happy anniversary Leonie! Enjoy your Buck's FizzGrin

Potato I'm sure even if you have a Birthday lazing in bed with Arya it'll be lovely. I'm sure DSD will grow out of this attention seeking phase once she gets used to Arya being around. I'm an only child so I can't help much on sibling advice though. And great news on the studying!!

That list is getting me very excited! Only Lauren and Lisa ahead of me. I can't wait for the next baby to arrive. I'm really hoping Beanie is here by the time we move on to thread 13 but we do chat a lot so maybe notWink

BunchOfBobs · 20/09/2016 11:06

Indi only Lisa ahead of you now Wink. Lauren** has popped but has only announced on IG. I won't give details on here as it's not my place to announce for her but she's been mega busy with the move from London etc so hasn't had time to pop on.

I'm not a fan on the Gina Ford routines so I know it's not for me. As long as I nap in the day I can deal with the nights at the mo and I know it's because Atticus hasn't pooed 10 days now ShockConfused
We're at baby massage this afternoon and it's focussed on tummy massage to aid digestion. Poonami ahoy! Forgot to say GP said no hernia for Atticus so I'm allowed to take part wahoo!

IndiX · 20/09/2016 11:08

Omg just Lisa?! That's crazy, I remember saying to DH that there was 14 babies ahead of me. Where has that time gone. Hope Lauren is doing wellSmile

Yay for no hernia bunch! Good luck for poonamis laterShock

LillianFullStop · 20/09/2016 11:17

Omg! woah that means we're onto the October due dates now! Not long indi Wink*
*
Has anyone heard from Mor or Taz at all? Hope they are doing well and just too busy with their new bubs

Bunch I like the sound of baby massage! both DH and I are big fans so I'm sure our LO will love it too.

Danni89 · 20/09/2016 11:37

Congrats DrWhy!

potato- I'm planning on getting out to a few baby classes/breastfeeding cafes to keep Mason alert in the day times. Also lots of walks too. But also have the swing/tummy time toys to keep him occupied at home

bunch let us know how baby massage goes?

Excited to welcome the next thread baby!

PotatosMum · 20/09/2016 12:44

Miley, Danni I don't think going out will work with Arya. She never fails to fall asleep the moment we take her anywhere lol

Leonie happy anniversary Smile

Indi I wouldn't mind if I thought I'd get to spend my birthday lazing in bed or even watching TV but there's no chance. The DSC bicker loudly whenever they're together and Arya has worked out that daytime is for being awake. Hopefully we can go out for lunch while they're at school though.

I don't think DSD will get over the attention seeking... She's the youngest of the DSC and she still hasn't got over needing more attention than her brother Hmm I honestly don't mind except when she tried to use my baby as a pawn to get attention from her dad.

Bunch enjoy the baby massage session. If the poo massage works you'll have to post a video on IG showing us all how to do it.
Yay! For no hernia Grin

I'm trying to study but Arya is doing her best to thwart my efforts by being very awake and now she has gone down for a nap (it is naps now instead of constant sleep) she keeps farting in her sleep and every time she dies she cries as if it's the most tragic event ever. I'm pretty sure her farts aren't painful as she did a few when she was feeding earlier and didn't batter an eyelid HmmConfused

PotatosMum · 20/09/2016 13:45

OMG I just realised that yesterday was the 19th... That means that as of yesterday Arya was one month old Shockmy baby is growing up too quickly!

Damson9 · 20/09/2016 14:00

Potato, I don't know what day of the month it is at the best of times; I can only imagine that it goes out of the window totally with a new little one at home! :)

Dead arrrrrrrrrm! Flu jab in one, whooping cough in t'other!

OP posts:
Janubub · 20/09/2016 18:43

Audrey - they gave you the flu jab this early? I need to book in my whooping cough vaccination, wondering whether to get this done at the same time.

Janubub · 20/09/2016 18:44

And by early I meant, early in flu season, not early in pregnancy!

Janubub · 20/09/2016 18:52

Okay, so I decided I should probably look at some baby stuff so decided to start with the basics: somewhere to sleep. We will obviously buy a cot but want something smaller for when baby is small. What should we consider?

Things I've decided I need to think about:

  1. I don't want a co-sleeping crib she said, ducking from the rotten fruit being thrown but I do want baby to go (obviously) in our bedroom, pushed up close to the bed (there's enough space to do this even with a cot).
  1. We have a split level house. I'd want the baby "with" me during the day downstairs so it needs to be either able to move up and down stairs easily or have two different things for it to sleep in. I'm not sure how I'd feel about leaving it in a separate room to sleep on the same "floor" of the house as me (e.g. me in the kitchen, baby in the living room) but can't easily see a way around this?
  1. I don't want to put whatever the baby is asleep in on the floor as I fear tripping over it

Is there anything that would meet these neurotic requirements?Hmm I don't know where to start.

AudreyBradshaw · 20/09/2016 19:07

jan preggo's get early admission to flu jab from September onwards. I had it at the same time as whooping cough because it only flags up to book WC after 28 weeks at my practice. You should be able to book in with your practice nurse from any time after 20 weeks. Only downside is I've gone RED in the face and am warm as balls. Both are dead vaccine but I feel ever so slightly off colour.

I'm scared of co-sleep cribs/our bed is low and has a massive wooden "lip" so I don't think one would line up, and I'd never be able to have baby actually IN bed with me and dh. We have a super king size and we only just fit there's a LOT of kicking one another goes on but he's a big bastard and I'm a fidget. So I'm planning on putting moses basket in our room.

But having a single bed in baby's room with a cot (which I haven't ordered yet, and won't till baby's born in case I need to eat my words and get a side sleeper crib for next to single bed. Haven't bought a sleepyhead for the same reason, ill wait till baby's born. At my Mams it will sleep in big silver cross pram.

OP posts:
ElleSarcasmo · 20/09/2016 19:17

Jan it sounds like you might be better having a cot and a Moses basket on a stand? I'm not sure how long they last for though.

Theo is so gorgeous Leonie, even your cat agrees!

I'm on labour ward tonight. I've been having very increased movements all day. I'm also worried I might be leaking waters-it has happened a few times today after I've been for a wee, I've stood up and felt a slight 'gush'. I thought either wee or CM, but it doesn't smell like wee Confused sorry for the tmi. Anyway hopefully they will tell me I'm worrying about nothing-I'm just strapped up to the CTG now so will probably be here for a while.

Janubub · 20/09/2016 19:29

A moses basket sounds easy enough to move but most other mums say they grow out of them at 3-4 months - in which case, then what do I do with a sleeping baby during the day??

PotatosMum · 20/09/2016 19:56

Jan I have a Moses basket and stand. I bring it downstairs with me during the day and up stairs at night. It works quite well. The only problem is that babies grow out of them quite quickly (usually in the first 3 months) I'm about to invest in a a chicco lulligo travel cot to use upstairs as I've heard good things about them as a Moses basket replacement.
Arya already prefers to nap I her vibrating chair during the day so when she grows out of the Moses basket you could use one of those during the day.
I also have a baby sense motion detector which alarms if Arya was to stop moving and breathing. It gives me peace of mind to leave the room while she's asleep.

Elle hope all is well and it's a false alarm.

BunchOfBobs · 20/09/2016 20:13

Elle thinking of you and hoping you get some answers soon.

Reet Mamas anyone else felt like they're about to break down? I've been doing great the last 6 weeks I thought, only had a wobble when I bathed Atticus whilst asleep and caused a major meltdown.
Well baby massage did not work, we're at the end of day 10 and no poo and little man has barely been off my boob since 3pm. That's all perfectly fine except when he's awake he is inconsolable. I've taken myself off to a bath as me being away from him seems to keep him calmer (can't smell me I guess) yet every time I hear him on the edge of crying I feel this overwhelming surge of panic, like I'm about to start hyperventilating and cry hysterically. Wtf is wrong with me? I feel awful for little man and don't know how to help him. I can only think its that.

He was angel baby for my mum earlier and she got these cracking photos. He.just.needs.to.POO!!

PotatosMum · 20/09/2016 20:49

Aww Bunch you poor thing. Is so hard to hear them cry and not be able to do anything about it. It must be driving you mad. Can the dr not give him a laxative? Just keep reminding yourself that you are doing everything possible and he's not upset with you he's upset with poo.

BunchOfBobs · 20/09/2016 21:18

Thanks Potato. They've given us lactulose but that's a stool softener and he has soft poo anyway. It can cause hideous trapped wind of which I've experienced so I don't want to give him for fear of making his discomfort worse Sad
