Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Jan I went on holiday with my mum at 28w so DH and his dad cleared the baby room and built the furniture in the week. Then I just came back and decorated and got the soft furnishings. I hadn't got all the baby equipment and clothes etc at that point though. Just try to pick things up when you can and make lots of lists!
I got 2 hooded baby towels in asda for £5 and 2 large hand towels for £1.50 each. I'll pick up more if I need them. I want to bf too but we also have baby bottles DH went a bit mad on Amazon, I'm sure they'll come in handy if I'm expressing and they're handy if DH does feeds

LisaTheSimpson · 17/09/2016 14:18

Back from the hospital. Took almost two hours to see a doctor (the midwife buzzed him several times and chased really hard), but when I did see him he was awesome.

They think it's probably obstetric cholestasis, though I haven't really had itching. Liver ALT levels and bile acid levels quite high.

Not a concern for me (just unpleasant if I have itching), but concern of stillbirth for the baby. I have to keep a VERY close eye on movements, as it can all happen very suddenly. They said I need to have a very low threshold for going in, if I'm worried. Bit scary, being the only one who decides if something's wrong.

Back in for more bloods on Monday, and they'll see how those look. Have a consultant appt on Wednesday, but they don't know yet if I'll make that (depends on Monday's bloods).

38 weeks seems to be a key threshold for inducing (I'm 38 on Monday), so I think I'll be booked in pretty soon.

DH and I are spending the weekend finalising last bits and trying to be prepared for this to happen pretty soon.

Co5mo · 17/09/2016 14:37

I'm sorry OC has raised it's head Lisa but how exciting to know baby is likely to arive sooner rather than later. The risk of still birth is still very low from what I read when they thought I had OC, but increases with increasing gestation which is why they tend to induce. At least you know about it so you can keep an eye on baby.

AudreyBradshaw · 17/09/2016 14:45

Oh my goodness lisa that sounds scary for you! Hope everything is ok! Can they give you anything to help with the itching or is it just camomile lotion and cool baths?

jan I'm 30 weeks and haven't even started decorating the baby's room yet. We haven't got the cot either! But I've got a moses basket, nappies, cheeky wipes and onesies/vests for the first few weeks. Ordered the pram when I was 22 weeks but won't collect it till after baby is born my dad is superstitious but we've got the cot bedding and whatnot. My reckoning being, as long as it's got something to sleep on (moses basket and blankies), be fed with (tits hopefully) and poo into (nappies) I'm covered. The rest will come once I know what kind of baby I'm getting, which will be when it arrives! Amazon do next day delivery, I've got dh, my parents and sister plus extended family on standby for if I need stuff from tesco, asda, mothercare wherever. We're very fortunate to have such a support system on hand. And I don't want to spend money on things which I don't know ill be using. Like if I need a breast pump, ill get one when it's born, same goes for if it all goes tits up and I struggle with breastfeeding, ill get bottles then. My motto is 'all shall be well' Grin

Jan I started buying stuff after my 12 week scan and started the serious buying after 20 weeks Smile I still haven't finished Arya's nursery.
I got some baby towels in matalan. Nice and cheap and have hoods but I see no problem with using normal towels after all that's what people used to do.

Pink sounds like Evelyn is doing really well with her sleep Smile

Lisa fingers crossed all is well and you're cuddling your baby early next week Flowers

So, I weighted myself today. The week before Arya was born I was over 16st ShockShockShock today I'm 10st10lb wtf why am I so fat then??? Normally when I'm 10st I'm a small size 12 now I'm a large 18 Hmm the only explanation I can think of is that I'm normally quite muscly although I don't look it but 9 months of barely being able to walk has wasted most of that away so I've turned into an untoned marshmallow Hmm as soon as I have my 6 week Drs appointment hopefully I'll be able to start exercising again, I know my muscle builds quite quickly so fingers crossed it won't take too long to get some shape back Smile

LisaTheSimpson · 17/09/2016 15:39

Thanks Co5mo. I know I just need to be vigilant about movement, and take advantage of the warning time to get as much sorted as possible Grin

Stardrey - I don't actually have any itching, so I'm all good and feel fine. If I hadn't been really sick two weekends ago and needed to go in, I don't know if this would have been picked up, as I've had no symptoms.

Thank you Potato x

Janubub · 17/09/2016 16:47

Towel idea sounds sensible, then. A couple of hand towels should do when baby is very new and needs head covering. Seems a bit daft to buy towels that won't really serve much purpose later on, so will save a bit of money there.

Audrey - glad I'm not the only one though you are much more prepared than me. Not sure when to buy a cot as I plan on getting a moses basket of some sort but I suppose it is easier to have it sorted before baby arrives.

We also don't know the sex of our baby but other than clothes don't consider that it matters - we won't be purchasing anything sex-specific other than clothes and will buy some neutral clothes for when it is tiny. I'm a bit worried about becoming a terrified recluse when the baby arrives so it will give me a good excuse to get out of the house and go choose some cute baby clothes.

AudreyBradshaw · 17/09/2016 16:52

jan honestly, if it wasn't for my mother, I'd probably still be in denial about being preggo, despite it being a thought out planned for, very much wanted baby. Didn't actually believe I was pregnant properly until about 25 weeks Grin she's been the driving force behind getting baby stuff. And cause we don't know what we're having we've not bought much clothing, just some vests and baby grows etc, there's only so much grey/yellow/white stuff I can cope with, I like bright colours! Grin

OP posts:
PotatosMum · 17/09/2016 17:03

Jan make sure you get all the basics (clothes, blankets etc) before baby arrives. While it will be nice to go out and brows once she's here, you may find it will be a few weeks before baby lets you do anything productive.
Arya's 4 weeks and very well behaved but I still consider it an awesome day if she gives me enough time to have a shower Confused

Janubub · 17/09/2016 17:08

Potato - I will get vests, sleepsuits etc. but until we know whether it is a he or a she, the choices are very limited.

Blankets, muslins etc. I will just buy white or yellow beforehand.

IndiX · 17/09/2016 18:36

Lisa I'm sorry to hear you've had a bit of a scare from the doctors. It's great they are keeping a close eye on you though and hopefully you have your cute little baby in your arms next week! How exciting.

Potato that weight loss is amazing in just 4 weeks!! How much did you gain in total? I'm sure you'll be able to fit in to your clothes soon, your body just has to get back in to 'non-baby mode' and yeah I'm sure once you start exercising you'll be able to build muscle easily and feel back to your old self.

Right I've tried to ignore it but does/did anyone else has light yellow discharge in the late stages of pregnancy? I don't think it's thrush as there's no smell and it's not really itchy unless I wear certain lacy knickers. I've changed my shower gel this week then had sex on Wednesday and Thursday so don't know if down there is just a bit tender in general. Ive just had a shower and not used any shower gel, just water and I'm not wearing knickers for the evening. Any other advice for a funny moo?

Nevlet · 17/09/2016 19:17

Little bodhi boy had his first big boys bath today!!

marmitecheesetoast · 17/09/2016 19:23

Marmite, 31 with a 10 week bean.

Great news on your DHs job offer Audrey!

Sorry to hear so many had rough nights last night, I hope you all have better nights tonight!

That sounds scary Lisa but sounds like they are keeping a close eye on you and hopefully you will be having baby cuddles before you know it!

Went shopping today and bought a couple of loose fitting tops and baggy slouchy cardis to try and hide what to me is becoming an obvious sudden jelly belly although DH assures me there is nothing to see to anyone else Hmm

Canters15 · 17/09/2016 21:28

Canters, age 29, 31 weeks today with a wriggly boy.

potato that weight loss is insane, you must have been retaining so much fluid! Must be a muscle mass thing like you say, im sure it will all sort itself out in time. How lovely that your oh wants to propose!

indi I've been having some yellowish discharge. Looked slightly brown the other day and I panicked a bit but it's back to yellow now. No advice, it's so gross though. Total tmi over share but this morning I had a little gush of wetness after I had been to the loo and come back to bed, presumably just discharge that had pooled overnight. I feel so minging.

Oh lisa it all sounds a bit scary but hopefully baby will be here very soon!

I'm planning to breastfeed but have bought a set of bottles as they were on offer. If I'm honest I'm not totally sure how committed I am to breastfeeding- on the one hand it seems like the easiest thing ever if it works out and gets established ok (no faffing with bottles), on the other hand I am desperate to have my body back and can't bear the idea of walking around with even bigger boobs for 6 months after the birth. I suspect if I run into any big difficulties I will end up switching to formula but we shall see.

marmite if it helps it's probably bloating rather then jelly belly. I felt quite big from about 9 or 10 weeks, then it all disappeared around 15 weeks and I just had a slightly thicker waist until 22ish weeks when a bump appeared. Ironically I took a photo of when I felt big at 10 weeks and now could sob at how skinny I look- so your dh is probably right about it being only noticeable to you.

Pinklily1 · 17/09/2016 21:59

potato, did i read your post right - you've lost over 5st since Arya's birth?! Wow!

For the new mummies, have any of you tried on your pre-pregnancy clothes yet? I'm too scared too Shock

lisa, that sounds scary, but it's good they are keeping a close eye on you now.

LillianFullStop · 17/09/2016 22:11

Checking in!

Lillian 37 with a 35w stowaway.

Feeling huge now and counting down the last 2 weeks of work! I have had yellow tinged discharge too but no strange smells. Sleeping is stressful and is a bit of a nightmare to find a comfortable spot. NCT classes this weekend first session was good and met some nice people.

Thanks for the new thread stardrey and congrats on DH's job offer!

Miley your wee stories make me think I need more sheets - I only have 2 and if she soils them both I would be in a bit of a pickle! maybe I need a second mattress protector too.

Janu I did a lot of research and looking in the shops from about 20w but didn't make a first purchase (pram) until 27-28 weeks. I think we're pretty much sorted now at 35w!

CakeCake to the new mums struggling with rough nights.

IndiX · 18/09/2016 05:27

Anyone else in the pregsomnia/night feed gang? I've been up for hours Sad maybe it's my body getting me prepared for a baby keeping me up at night...

BunchOfBobs · 18/09/2016 05:34

So much for DH being good with helping at nights etc. Second night in a row and I really want to kill him. Started off well as he knew how pissed off I was about last night. We stupidly stayed up late watching a film so DH took Atticus when he wouldn't settle so I could sleep when we first got to bed. I got an hour before he wanted another feed. He then offered to take him again but it seemed more sensible to try putting him down on his own. We both slept for two hours- result. He needed a feed so I obviously wake up then I couldn't settle him (day 8 now without poo, he's understandably uncomfortable and needs cuddles). 2 fecking hours later and I try waking DH so I can go the loo. I slapped his arm 3 times and shook him before I could wake the "oh I'm such a light sleeper, when you're awake so am I" bollocksy knob. I come in from the loo and stupidly said "I may aswell take him back as he'll need a feed again" the selfish twunt hands him over and is now into hour 5 of consecutive sleep (granted broken for about 5 mins at hour 2 and 4) why couldn't he have said "no i'll keep him until he needs a feed"? I'm so mad at him but doing the stupid thing of leaving him to it because "I shouldn't have to ask" gah. I'm sat here with Atticus sat on my lap back against my knees making poo noises with no movement, he won't feed, I know I won't get to sleep for at least another hour and when I do try sleep then he'll want feeding. If DH thinks I'm sorting this poonami out he can get fucked.
Sorry for my rage but just needed to vent!

Potato that's an amazing weight loss, well done. Completely get where you're coming from though. I don't get how my bottom half is 3 sizes bigger than it was still. It must be like you said, we're not as muscly as we were pre preggo. We'll both get back there.

Canters I had that, it ran down my leg and freaked me out thinking waters, upon inspection at the loo I felt so grim.

Lisa dr google is not your friend. As you said at least it's been picked up, try not to stress about the risks though as it's no good for either of you. Enjoy what is potentially the last weekend before baby arrives and fingers crossed for good bloods on Monday.

Indi I've got that now, it's delightful. Nothing more to add than what you've already suggested but would love to know what else I can do for relief myself.

ElleSarcasmo · 18/09/2016 07:44

Morning all!

Checking in a bit late, as per usual!

Elle, 35, 29+6 today with a vanilla wiggler. Generally feeling bigger, slower and more tired! It really doesn't help when people keep telling you you're huge!

Thanks for the sympathy about the waxing guys. I'm not sure I'll be doing the planned repeat-may just stick to the basic bikini line! Indi I usually just shave too but stopped after injuring myself Blush only a minor nick luckily. I hadn't thought of trying in the bath but I'm not very flexible so not sure if it would help!

Sorry about the obstetric cholestasis Lisa, it must be scary, but hopefully you will be induced early to be cautious and get to meet your lovely baby a bit sooner.

Jan we haven't bought anything big yet. Plenty of time really! I will have a look in Aldi next week, thanks Co5mo. It would be good to get some nappies and a few vests etc in.

Bunch that sounds frustrating. I can totally see that happening with mine when baby is here.

Potato that's an amazing weight loss! You must have had lots of fluid on board. Hopefully some of it is just skin and muscles that will tighten up and you'll be back to your normal size before too long.

Lilian glad NCT went well and you met some nice people.

AudreyBradshaw · 18/09/2016 08:09

Aww bunch that sounds awful, poor you! I'm already worried about this sort of thing, Dh can sleep through all sorts, and is not easy to wake up. I think I will just wee on him if it comes to it. Is your Dh off work today? Can you wake him up now and gently place shove the baby in his arms amd go for a nap?

I've got a 3 hour night bladder, and I keep waking up at 7 am! !! It's 8 am and I've had my breakfast!

potato it must be retained water and muscle loss. That's an amazing drop! Got to admitigate, I can't wait to have my body back, and hopefully back in shape. I know my skin will never be the same but it does freak me out slightly that my entire shape may change forever!

AudreyBradshaw · 18/09/2016 08:11

elle my Dh said to me yesterday that he's noticed I've slipped down a gear, usually I'm whizzing about but this last few days I've really slowed down. I'm getting tired quicker too.

OP posts:
Damson9 · 18/09/2016 09:42

Morning ladies, just popping in to bookmark the new thread. I'm 7+2 today, and feeling generally scrunchy. I cleaned the bathroom yesterday, so I'm pretty sure I can sit around and play on the Xbox today. That's how it works, right? Grin

What I'd really like is a bath, but it would appear that lobstering yourself in a stonkingly hot bath is frowned upon during early pregnancy, and any cooler than that and I don't see the point! Hmm

Mileymoocow · 18/09/2016 09:48

lillian yes! More sheets is a must. We have 4 and went through 3 last night!

Little bot was good as gold, woke every 2 hours for a feed but latched straight on and then had a nappy change when needed and went straight back down. I'm getting used to the baby noises now so am actually getting some sleep. Happy mummy!

indi I had that just before my plug properly went! Then I started leaking fluid a few days later so keep an eye on it.

bunch give him a slap! My OH has definitely stepped up but Christ it's so hard to wale hin onvery he's asleep. He also woke up this morning and said he was getting bad skin because of the exhaustion Hmm he had a full night apart from helping me quickly change Harrison twice when he wee'd through his nappy. They don't really have a clue do they. I really hope Atticus gets some relief soon, poor little mite! I don't know much about anything but my cousins little girl was horribly constipated and my grandma told her to dab some coconut oil around her little bum with a cotton bud, don't know if it was coincidence but it helped.

pink I've started wearing some old tops but too scared to try pants and leggings just yet! I'm reasonably impressed with how quickly my tummy is shrinking though, I have about 2 stone to lose to be pre pregnancy weight Confused I only put on 2 and a half stone so I have no idea how that works considering I had a 6lb 6 baby and lots of extra gunk!

Health visitor came yesterday and is impressed with him, he has lost 5oz so is 6lb 1 now but he's the picture of health and I couldn't be more relieved Smile he's having a little swing time now before he gets some more boob

potato that weight loss is absolutely amazing! I can't imagine it'll take you long all to get back into your clothes.

Sorry for anyone I've missed, I'm having snuggles and it's quite hard to concentrate because I can't stop staring at him

Thread 12 TTC#1 Grads. "You are my favourite thing that ever shit all over my hands"
BunchOfBobs · 18/09/2016 10:06

He eventually woke up with his usual "you okay" at 6am . Stardrey he only works weekdays which is what pissed me off so much as I do the nights in the week.
He got my full wrath through clenched teeth then. Amazingly Atticus has let me sleep since then. And of course DH is now going "oh you got 4 hours, we got the same amount of sleep then" Angry

Miley we were told to do the same by the GP but bizarrely he's not actually constipated as when he does go it's not hard and his tummy is soft. It would seem this is just his guts, but he finds it uncomfortable... Hmm
Harrison is gorgeous now wonder you can't stop staring at him.

ElleSarcasmo · 18/09/2016 10:18

Audrey bummer isn't it, no idea how I'm going to manage the next 6 weeks at work. I'm thinking slowly!
