Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

I'm a big fan of witch hazel for anything red, angry or pus-like Lisa but I'd defiantly give a call too!

Sorry to all the babies getting their first winter colds, does not sound like fun!

I'm now off my wonderful and much missed anti-sickness meds and I'm feeling the nausea again. Nothing as bad as last time, I can still eat and drink. I just forgot how much better they made me feel! I'd half started thinking maybe the nausea was over and I'd be alright on my own. Ah well, can't have too much of this nausea thing left!

LisaTheSimpson · 19/10/2016 13:59

Thanks both! I've made some calls and I'm waiting to be called back.

IndiX · 19/10/2016 18:14

Lisa definitely give you HV a call, hope you're ok. I'm sure they'll just give you anti biotics and it sounds like you've spotted it early. Hope you're ok!

Miley sorry about your lack of sleep, poor little Harrison. I can't help you with what may be the cause but I hope you find out soon so you can get some rest. I think it's a man thing to do the exaggerated yawning, my DH has been up in the night with me every night but when I feed I tell him he can go back to sleep. He then tells me he's knackered by the time it hits 4pmHmm
I feel so sorry for your cousin, I can't imagine how she feels. I don't even want to think about Autumn getting a cold.

Fishy hope the tabs make you feel better soon, the nausea is horrible. Hopefully it'll pass and you'll be able to feel a bit more human again.

Irregular yay for the poo! It's so horrible to see them upset. I thought Autumn was constipated today as she hasn't been since this morning and was very whingey..she has since done 2 massive poos but I am delighted. I can't believe this is my life now..so happy with baby pooGrinHmm

Hope the 6 week check went well pink.

So today Autumn was really upset all morning, wouldn't let me move her off my chest and was sobbing her little heart out. Eventually I fed her a few times to get her to sleep and she had a good 3 hour nap while we went to get her registered. I was worried she was constipated but she's done 2 massive poos this evening so maybe she was just over tired?! I've bought some infacol to try out anyway as I feel like sometimes she's straining to get her wind out. Hopefully it helps.

C section ladies have any of you got rid of the overhang/shelf bit of flesh above your scar? Mine is more shelf like as it doesn't hang over my scar but it's more like swollen little lump above the wound. It's not massive and I think it's mostly swelling but just wondering if any of yours have gone back to normal yet?

LisaTheSimpson · 19/10/2016 21:01

Thanks Indi. GP thinks it's infected and I've got antibiotics. Hope it clears up quickly and easily.

I've still got my tummy overhang, but then I was definitely not in the amazing shape you were before birth. I'm sure yours won't last long.

Had our first poo explosion today! Feel really proud for some reason! Grin DH went to change her and I noticed she had soaked poo through all her clothes (not sure how he hadn't realised, given it also soaked through to him!). We ran her upstairs and used the shower to wash her off. Parenting milestone!

LisaTheSimpson · 19/10/2016 21:06

Sorry, Indi, I didn't comment on the rest of your post. I think they definitely get over-tired (and over-hungry), and they are too young to settle themselves so they just cry and get themselves into a state. It's hard to calm them down to be able to feed them or get them to sleep.

Are you breast or formula feeding? It's incredibly rare for bf babies to get constipation, but they can get wind and Quinn has started to get it at night quite a bit.

IndiX · 19/10/2016 21:41

Oh Lisa sorry your wound is infected, I'm sure that it'll clear up soon with the antibiotics. Sounds like you caught it quickly anyway.
Thank you, I don't feel in great shape now though! My belly doesn't feel too bad just this little shelf above my scar, I'm hoping it's mostly swelling and I'll be able to get rid of it once I can exercise again.
I'm breastfeeding, so yeah maybe it's just wind. She's been so whingey today. I've started her on the infacol and it seems to be ok so far but she still has had a couple of big cries like she's being murdered but hopefully she'll settle tonight.

PotatosMum · 20/10/2016 06:54

Irregular sorry you had a bad night last night but glad Tamsin has now pooped Smile

Pink I hope the snuffles don't last long. They're dreadful and make you feel so helpless.

Miley the poor babe. That sounds horrible for both her and your cousin.
Lol at your OH, they do like to be drama lamas don't they?! Wink

Lisa you poor thing! I hope the infection clears up quickly.

Lovely sorry the sickness has come back now you're off your meds, is it worth getting some more?

So, last night was another night of unsettled sleep for Arya. She's fine when she's out cold but really fussy until then even when she's first asleep. Her nose is clear but she's rubbing at it and having breathing issues as if it's blocked so I looked it up and I think it might be that now we have the heating on its dried out the air and her delicate little nasal passages so I've ordered a humidifier for the bedroom. Hopefully that will sort the problem as I don't like that my angelic little baby has turned in to a fussy little madam. I want to make her happy again Sad

PotatosMum · 20/10/2016 07:32

I forgot to add... Arya has her immunisations today Sad

PotatosMum · 20/10/2016 09:13

Ladies who bought the cosatto giggle 2 travel system... Did you get the car seat to match? What do you think of it?

We got the car seat as a free extra but having used it for two months I'm not very happy with it. For starters it weighs a tone, the inner fabrics is scratchy and hard as are strap cushions. It does come with the new born insert which is soft but that makes Arya overheat and she's by no means a massive baby or ready to do without the extra head support but she's squished and obviously uncomfortable in it. It's also really difficult to get her in and out of the thing and the isofix base doesn't seem as stable as I'd like (she seemed more secure with just the seatbelt)

I'm thinking of splashing out and getting a maxi cosi Pebble... I know it's being replaced by the Pebble Plus but I can't justify the cost of one of those.
Does anyone have the Pebble? What do you think of it? What is the isofix base like? I quite like the idea that if I get the family fix base I can buy the Pearl seat next year and it will work on the same base.

Arya has slept in so I've been able to get the last bits of painting done in her room and get her cot out ready to put together. It's a bit yellower than I expected from the photo and given the colour scheme we've chosen I now wish we'd gone with the white one but hey ho. I'm sure it will look fine when it's up.

Co5mo · 20/10/2016 09:30

Struggling to keep up again and I don't know why because I'm spending so much time sat feeding.

Lisa I hope the infection clears up quickly. Indi I hope your overhang shrinks back. It's a bit too early to work out what mine is going to look like but I think my jelly belly will be a bigger problem.

DH and I are going to fall out over where LO sleeps. He'd have him in his own room today if I would let him Angry. I think it's too early at less than a week old.

So we're having major nappy issues. We're getting pee leaks with nearly every nappy...that's a lot of changes of clothes. We've tried different brands of nappies and different sizes (tried the size 0 ads nappies that seemed to work to start with but then we ended up back at square 1). Winkie is pointed down and nappy is tight. Any ideas?

Operation crib worked like a dream so the last couple of nights have been easier (except for the noisr of his piglet snuffles and squeeks) and he'll even go down in his cot without batting an eyelid at the moment. Keep in fingers toes and anything else conceivably crossable crossed it continues.

Co5mo · 20/10/2016 10:03

We've got a pebble and two way fix base. We didn't see the point in buying the pebble plus as it's vritually the same. I think it's quite heavy but I don't know what weight you're comparing too. Other than that I'm quite happy with it on the two trips we've been out on.

Feefeefs · 20/10/2016 10:17

Tamsin is gorgeous irregular.

Love the jumper nevletso cute!!

I'm with you damson and planteer struggling to keep up with life!!!

35 weeks Audrey!!!! Eeeekkk!! I keep calling everyone the wrong name. Totally made up names half the time! D'oh.

That's nonsense soda my stepmom is a hairdresser ( very fancy place has done lots of tv etc) you can have normal highlights the whole way through as any risk is really in the due being directly on the scalp for a long period of time, even then actually very minimal risk. Your hair does "fall out" following birth and it's to do with it shedding less during the pregnancy. Highlights will not change this unless you're hair is already very damaged.

Gorgeous pictures miley and indi

She looks so cuddly Lisa.Smile hope your infection clears up quickly.

We got the pebble potato but obviously haven't used it yet!!! The reviews and base won it for me, we got ours at a mamas and papas event so got a good discount, don't know if there's any coming up near you?

I'm feeling very sorry for myself at the moment, massive style and eye almost swollen shut Sad bad cold, on crutches ! Still waiting on the house too!! Should get in and all should go through but it's just taking ages, we phone everyone involved every single day and it seems to be the only thing that's helping to speed things up! But it's knackering. Down to 4 day week so off today, thankfully! Might have to finish up the end of next week as the crutches in work are so tiring.

firstgo1984 · 20/10/2016 11:16

Thought I would check in again. Sorry I have been so infrequently on here! 38+4 today.

No signs of baby coming yet. Frequent Braxton Hicks - but I have been getting them for weeks now! Having more frequent softer bowel movements though.. so maybe body is starting to get ready.
Annoyingly after being in an LOT position for 3 weeks he is now ROT. So spending a lot of time of my ball and swimming.

My bump measurement hadn't grown when I saw midwife at 38 weeks (I dont think bump felt any bigger either) so I had a growth scan, which looked normal, but hard to interpret as a one off. One episode of reduced fetal movements a few days back too. Seeing consultant today to chat about whether I need continuous monitoring in labour if I get started before a follow-up growth scan. We shall see what she advises!

Since my episode of reduced movements, he's been going non-stop!!!

Congrats to all with babies, lovely hearing all the stories and seeing photos.

Mileymoocow · 20/10/2016 12:17

co5mo we had the same problem with Harrison the first 2 weeks as he had skinny legs and it used to leak out the leg holes. I didn't find anything that stopped it, but he did grow into them quickly and now has chubby thighs like his mummy

potato we have the pebble and the family fix Base as we got the pearl free with a deal we got. I like it, nice and cosy looking and the shoulder pads are nicely padded. Harrison loves the car seat!

feef I'd definitely be finishing up early! How awful for you!!

Hope everyone is well. Will catch up later, we're out for lunch after a morning at baby play

PotatosMum · 20/10/2016 14:29

Cosmo that sounds like a right pain regarding OH wanting LO in his own room. I'd lay it on thick about how dangerous it is.
I'm lucky, when I originally said about Arya going in her own room at 6 months OH was very much of the opinion that he didn't care how long she stays with us as long as she has her own bed.

Feef sounds like your having a rubbish time. Hope you start to feel better and the house sorts itself out.

First good to hear from you. There are a few of you in the last few weeks of waiting. I think we're going to have another big pocket of babies being born within days of each other Grin

So, I've bought Arya a bright pink pebble Grin bored of people asking if she's a boy I got a fairly good deal and I like the thought that we'll be able to get the pearl and use the same base Smile hopefully she will I longer hate her car seat Smile

She had her immunisations today. If I'm honest I expected it to be worse. When the first needle went in it took her a couple of moments to realise it hurt but she let the nurse do the other two with no problems then she cried for about 5 minutes after all 3 had been done then calmed right down and had a nap. The nurse said she'd done really well as they normally go mental after the first injection and scream all the way out of the surgery. Confused
She's now dozing while listening to the Beatles Smile

marmitecheesetoast · 20/10/2016 21:21

Hi all have been reading posts this week (and coo-ing over way too cute baby photos!!) but not had a chance to actually write a post, been a hectic week and seem to have regressed to T1 level exhaustion this week for some reason!

Sorry can't remember all the individual posts now to reply to but Lisa hope you're ok and antibiotics clear up infection pronto!

Crutches in work must be so tiring feefs at least you're down to 4 days now!

Can you get more anti sickness tablets fishy?

Hope Arya likes her new car seat potato glad the immunisations weren't too bad

Sorry as I know I've missed loads, but hope all babies, mummies and mummies to be are good!

This is possibly still quite early for me but thinking of having a look at pregnancy pillows this weekend and wondered if anyone could make any recommendations? Every time I wake up in the night (a lot!) I've ended up on my back which obviously I can't do indefinitely!

DH bought me this today! Enjoying filling it in up to date so far Grin

Nevlet · 20/10/2016 22:00

Hello! Struggling to keep up while on holiday but hope everyone is doing well.

I left Bodhi overnight last night with my parents. We drove down to Newquay for the night. I really wasnt keen but OH and my Mum were piling the pressure on so I went along just to keep the peace. I am actually really glad I did as I dont know if I would ever have wanted to go and it was fine. I dont have any desire to leave him again but aT least I know I can survive away from him. Don't think he missed me at all he was perfectly behaved for my mum and has been a terror for me since today!

Last night away with my parents today- they head back to Essex tomorrow and we go Saturday.

Anyone have any suggestions of what they are doing with babies for autumn/festive time of year? I want to embrace being off work with Bodhi but most things seem aimed at toddlers and bigger not tiny babies.

PotatosMum · 20/10/2016 22:21

Marmite I just got a pillow off of amazon, you can't really go wrong but they do n ed to be worn in a bit so definitely get one now Smile
I had that pregnancy journal Grin loved it Smile I did make little pockets out of cut up envelopes though to keep hospital bands and things in Smile

Nev well done leaving LO over night. I don't think I could do it!

Arya has been a bit sorry for herself this evening so ther have been lots of screaming fits which can only be cured with cuddles. Pore babe Sad

Danni89 · 20/10/2016 22:55

Hello, can't keep up with you all! I've been reading just not posting ...

Just popping in to say nev, not sure where you are in Essex but check out baby sensory , they do sessions all over. We went to baby massage today, Mason was so chilled

Hope everyone is well

Nevlet · 20/10/2016 23:53

Hey danni! Thanks I have looked into these and thinking of going to the new clacton course in January. Are you north essex too?

Mileymoocow · 21/10/2016 08:17

Well I officially have a velcro baby that will only sleep soundly if he's cuddled in but he's started smiling so I'm totally ok with that 😍

marmite I got mine off amazon, too. It was a God send!

nev great that you can leave Bodhi! I understand how hard it was as I still haven't left Harrison. My mum is coming over the weekend to have him for a few hours providing he will take a bottle of expressed milk. If he fusses and struggles there's no way! Glad you're enjoying your holiday Grin

potato is Arya feeling poorly? I know it's normal for them to fuss after their injections, poor little things!

PotatosMum · 21/10/2016 08:46

Miley yep, she's feeling terribly sorry for herself.
One of the injections gives them a temperature and makes them feel rubbish which is why you need to take calpol with you.

Her temperature is back to normal today but she's still very grumpy and didn't sleep soundly.
It's such a shame as on the way to the Drs yesterday she started properly grinning for the first time. She's been smiling for ages but this was proper, super excited, this is the best day ever grinning. Grin it was so cute but then she had her injections and I felt like I ruined the best day ever for her.

Yay! For Harrison starting to smile. So cute!!! Grin

LaraG13 · 21/10/2016 08:56

Hello all. Been absent a while as we've been moving house and had so much going on. I hope everyone is doing well and new babies are thriving. Ladies due soon I hope things get moving for you. Preggos, hope you are all healthy and coping with the various trials of pregnancy. Thought I'd just check in to say my baby boy was born on Monday, 9 days early. I know I love a birth story so will share mine here for those interested. Sorry in advance for the long post. I woke up in the morning with no real signs except that I'd had period type pains in the night. Waters started going at about 9.30am and had a bit of a bloody show and some mild pain starting. DH said he'd nip the dog round the block since it looked like the start of things. By the time he came back half hour later I was on all fours moaning with pain and getting regular contractions. Midwife came out to examine at about 10am and I was only 1cm dilated so she said to wait and see how things went. Plan was to go to a birth centre when I got to 3 or 4cm. I got in the bath for a couple of hours of pretty horrendous contractions which sped up and intensified very quickly. At this point I'd changed my mind about birth centre and was saying I wanted to go to hospital for epidural. DH called midwife out again just after midday and I'd dilated to 7cm and contractions were coming so fast I wasn't sure how long I'd have before delivery. I couldn't bear the thought of the trip to hospital at that stage of labour and decided that if I'd coped to 7cm with no pain relief I could do 3 more, so decided to have an impromptu home birth. Got on the gas and air which I found amazing. Started pushing at about 2pm and baby was born at 3pm and is perfect. He was 6lb 13oz. I have a tear but didn't need stitches. In honesty, I found labour agonisingly painful, but for me the cliche of it all disappearing once baby arrives was true. Not because of how wonderful he is (though he is wonderful) but just because once the pain stopped I had a massive sense of relief that it was all over and I'd done it. I coped and although it was extremely painful it wasn't traumatic and I'm already looking back on it fondly. I know that's absolutely not the case for everyone so I feel incredibly fortunate. In case anyone is interested, I read Juju Sundin's Birth Skills beforehand and found it helped me, though really when it came to it I ended up just finding my own mechanisms for coping with the contractions. I would never have dared plan a home birth for fear of things going wrong but I know a couple of you were considering it. I found it really wonderful in the end. The midwives were amazing and really know what they're doing. They are there to keep a close eye on things and to cheer you on, but they encouraged me to just let my body labour by itself. There was nothing medicalised about my birth at all. I was helped into my own shower after labour and was in my own bed with my baby within the hour, and sat in my living room eating a Chinese that evening. So home births definitely have their up sides. The last few days have been a daze of love and sleeplessness and I feel very lucky. Wishing everyone well!

BunchOfBobs · 21/10/2016 08:58

So much to catch up on.

Planet we just use a bath seat in the big bath, we also have a cuddle dry and love it.

For Christmas our DPs have bought some Grimm toys - gorgeous wooden toys that will last years, and we've bought a B toy parum pum pum drum. My DM and I are going a bit mental over Christmas outfits. If we carry on at this rate he'll have a different outfit for each day in December!! Also he'll be in 6-9month size which is just terrifying- he's almost at the limit of 3-6months in length the weed.

Lisa wow look how big Quinn has gotten!! So sorry to hear about your wound.

Lillian we still only bath Atticus once a week
As his skin gets dry to easy.

Indi Atticus definitely gets overtired and it just takes time for him to scream it out and finally pass out. The trick is to get them to sleep before they get in that state. I seem to be in for a win today as Atticus is napping on me now but normally he would be awake.

Miley sorry to hear your nights have gotten no better. And your poor cousins little girl.

Potato I found a steamy bathroom with Atticus in his bouncer to be the saviour!! Sounds like she really did do well. Atticus was as the nurse described and it was awful. aww about ruining the best day ever, that's such a cute description though (not the ruining part).

Co5mo they recommend baby is in your room for the first 6 months because of SIDS risk.

Atticus has started properly chuckling and it is the best thing ever. I of course missed the first one but my mum caught it on camera, it's on my IG for those that have it.

AudreyBradshaw · 21/10/2016 09:25

Congratulations Lara on your beautiful baby boy and an amazing birth! Well done you! Wow! 🎊🎉👑🎂💙🎁🍰☺👍🍦💐🐧

Busy week, much to catch up on! Sorry Arya's jabs have made her off colour potato awwww! And Harrison with his smiling miley and how cute is Atricus's laugh bunch ?!

Right, off to buy some shoes that aren't death traps, my only comfy ones that fit and I can put on unassisted have become dangerous! the heel fell off due to overuse So off to the shops we go! And then, finishing off hospital bag and I'll put some baby room pics up! Grin
