Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

That's what happened to me damson and I'm too stupid/confused tired to have realised why until this morning.

Putting up the cot tomorrow! Which means i can get all the baby stuff situated! Which means I can start doing baby washing (or is it too early? 35 weeks on Wednesday bloody hell, that's flown Will I need to re-wash nearer the time?) And should probably pack the hospital bag.

I'm loving reading everyone's progress and seeing pictures but I really honestly am too stupid to reply individually. I know Arya did something wonderful yesterday because I've just read it, but I'll be buggered if I know what it was. I'm meandering round life in a fog of confusion, I've had to buy a handbag notebook! Grin I was thoroughly thrilled earlier when every picture of about the first 15 pics were of all your beautiful babies! I loved it! And clicking 'like' is about all I'm capable of at the minute!

Those of you home alone with babies - how are you managing things like taking a shower?

Are you taking them into the bathroom with you so they can see you, or leaving them asleep in cot/crib/bouncer and risking it that they don't wake up while you're gone?

I guess it feels different from popping into the next room where you can hear them and run back quickly.

LisaTheSimpson · 17/10/2016 16:36

35 weeks, Stardrey?? Wowzers, that feels like it's gone quickly!

Definitely not too early to wash clothes or pack a hospital bag. Pretty sure a couple of the babs arrived around 36 weeks.

How are you feeling?

AudreyBradshaw · 17/10/2016 16:48

Honestly lisa I could not have been luckier so far health wise. Hoping it continues as far as birth and beyond! I've noticed (and so has dh) that I've 'slowed down' somewhat and I'm getting tired quicker. (But that might be to do with getting up at 5:30am all week to make dh breakfast before he goes to work!)

I've got a pregnancy tumour on my gum which is gross, I'm talking without moving my top lip like I'm trying to keep dentures in but it's not painful just a bit grotty looking! Can't do anything about it until I've given birth which is a bit annoying! But other than that and a bit of heartburn I've sailed through and I can't complain.

Now if I could shift this genuine mind fog I'd be champion! Grin
How are you?

So happy atticus is piling on the pounds bunch he's gorgeous. All these babies are! I'm getting used to the idea of having a baby now. I'm so glad I've had all of y'alls experiences and knowledge to read up on! Epic bonus! Dh keeps asking if any new babies have been born on the "online ante-natal group" Grin

OP posts:
Sodasoda · 17/10/2016 17:20

Audrey I would definitely have described it as 'slowing down' at your stage too. Everything was just so much more effort!

Lisa it's tough! I tend to try and wait til Alexa is asleep after a feed and then put her down (tricky as she usually wakes up in horror that I'm no longer cuddling her!) on our bed - we have an en suite shower room - and keep bathroom door open so I can see her. Once there's any danger of her moving off the bed I'll have a rethink! Sometimes she does wake and cry but I think letting them cry a bit is slightly unavoidable when you're on your own and can't take them with you to loo / shower etc! Don't be too hard on yourself though. In the first few days when DH went back to work if he arrived home and I was showered and dressed it was a victory! Smile

Sodasoda · 17/10/2016 17:30

Question for mommas - I usually get blonde highlights in my hair. During pregnancy I went to an organic place and had it done there. I'm heading up to my parents in a couple of weeks and thought I'd take the opportunity to have my hair done as my mum can hang around with Alexa close by. However the hairdresser is refusing to do my hair so close to me giving birth as they're saying my hair could fall out due to pregnancy hormones. Eh?? My hair looks shit! Well all of me looks shit at the moment but I at least thought I could do something about my hair! Anyone come across this before?

LisaTheSimpson · 17/10/2016 17:37

God, that's such a lovely thing for you to do for your DH. How is his job going?

Fingers crossed the good health continues!

I think I'm good, thanks. It's only been two weeks into parenthood, and it's all a bit of a blur, really. Not sure which way is up, but part loving it and part what-the-hell-have-we-done'ing it and wanting some sleep Grin

LisaTheSimpson · 17/10/2016 17:39

Thanks Soda!

I risked it while she was sleeping in the end, and when I came back she hadn't stirred.

That hair thing sounds ridiculous. I can't really believe it's true, surely?!

Also - I also need my hair desperately highlighting and cutting! Not sure how to go about it....

Nevlet · 17/10/2016 17:51

Soda the majority of my hair is dyed blonde I had it done exactly the same all through pregnancy and since. I had to have my extensions out pre birth as theres a chance of hair loss post birth which would cause them to fall out but colour is absolutely fine.

I finally have an engagement ring now I have depufffed enough to fit my other rings back on!!

IndiX · 17/10/2016 18:27

Lisa I feel exactly the same mostly loving it but also having the odd occasion of thinking 'shit we have a kid for life'. As far as showering goes I either ask my mum to keep an eye on her or I put her in her sleepyhead once she's had a feed and is milk drunk.

Audrey I started sorting my hospital bag at the same time, it was once miley went in to labour at 36 weeks it gave me a kick up the arse to get sorted! I definitely packed too much as I was only in for 24 hours but I guess it's better to be prepared than not. Also I bought 2 big packs of Tena pads adult nappies and only used one. I've just been on normal sanitary pads after the hospital so just a heads up, everyone's bleeding is different though.

Bunch those photos are adorable!!

Damson id say the 12 week scan is the best one, I cried like a baby when I saw my little bean had actually grown in to a baby looking thing!

My HV came today for the first time, she's really happy with how easily weve taken to breastfeeding and Autumn is now 1oz more than her birth weight so I'm happy she's gaining. She's eating loads atm but I don't mind if it's going to get me a nice chubby baba.
We also had a newborn photo shoot on Friday, I'll attach a pic. It's the hardest decision trying to choose which ones we want though!
No other news except I went for a biggish walk ALONE today and felt so much better getting out and doing things by myself without having to get help etc. Starting to feel a lot more settled now, hopefully it'll continue.

Mileymoocow · 17/10/2016 19:24

lisa I try to have one when Harrison is asleep then I put him in his sleepy head and have the quickest of showers.

indi Harrison is 5 weeks today and I haven't left him for longer than the time it takes to go to the toilet/wash! No way I'd leave him. I don't think I would just yet as he's never really had anything other than noon and the occasional bottle of expressed milk so I'd be terrified if I went out he refused the bottle (it has been known!) and had to go hungry until we got home.

It's so amazing to see all the little ones doing so well!

bunch I hope Atticus feels better soon!

nev Bodhi is absolutely gorgeous! 😍

potato Arya is such a clever little girl! She sounds as though she is doing so well.

Had a difficult few nights with Harrison. From 6 til about 10 he's been on the boob for a matter of minutes, unlatching then screaming to the point he's so frantic he struggles to latch back on. It's been absolutely exhausting so I'm so proud tonight that I've managed to settle him without the comfort of sucking and he's now dozing in his moses basket so I finally have a moment to myself! We've got the pain in the arse health visitor tomorrow then we're going Christmas shopping!

For those of us with baby dinosaurs noisy sleeping babies - if they've outgrown it, when was it? Harrison is horrendously noisy it keeps me awake!

Hello to all, hope everyone is keeping well Grin here's some Harrybot love!

indi they're stunning. She's beautiful!

We have Harrison's 'newborn' shoot next week at 6 weeks but I think he may be a bit too old now as he doesn't often stay still anymore! Plus he's constantly trying to keep his own head up and doesn't like to be cradled anymore - he likes to be upright. Where has my baby gone?!

Nevlet · 17/10/2016 20:05

Miley we had Bodhis at 5 weeks and I love that he was a bigger baby we have some lovely over our shoulder shots where he is holding his own head up and says me of him sat in the corner of a chair. Can't wait to pick them up!

OH has gone to pick my parents up from the train station they are joining us on holiday for the rest of the week! Trying to decide if I can cope to leave Bodhi with them and us stay in Newquay Wednesday night or not...

AudreyBradshaw · 17/10/2016 20:06

Ooh indi and miley your beautiful little babies! I can't even! I'm all of a wibble!

nev I'd heard that sometimes post birth hair can get a little thin but I've never heard of a hairdresser refusing to do it as a just in case! Mine desperately needs cutting, I don't think dh would notice if I did it myself at the min, it's always tied up!

OP posts:
Nevlet · 17/10/2016 20:09

Audrey mine only cautioned against leaving my microbonds in as if it thinned and they slid out its a waste of a few hundred quid! As it is having them out at about 4 months PG did wonders for my hair it grew tons and got so thick while I was pregnant and so far it has stayed that way too. And my little Bodster has been hanging off my hair in rage for the last week or so if I don't feed him quick enough he would definitely pull them out haha!

mayago · 17/10/2016 20:20

Many congratulations Co5mo!

Love your autumnal photos Bunch. It's reminded me what a lovely time of year it is! 75th centile? That's an excellent result!

Hope the sweep has its intended results Lillian!

Potato you're really got it sorted with the routine for yourself and Arya. I hope I'm as organised as you when my little one is so young! Did you enjoy setting up Arya's room? I cannot wait to start our nursery, even if it'll just be used for storage and changing for the first few months.

Damson the 12 week scan was pretty amazing. We'd had one at 5+3 after I fainted and the hospital wasn't sure what to do with me, and again at 9w when my parents were visiting, but at the 12 week scan everything looks more normal and real. My 9 week scan pictures are the stuff of nightmares looking back Blush

Lisa sounds like your day went well!

Ooh, Stardrey you're getting into the good parts of setting up the nursery! I think I've chosen the cot we want today (and I'm loving how I can speak for both OH and I- he's learning!!) and I'm craving organising baby's wardrobe. I occasionally go into a mild panic because I've realised my unborn child doesn't own any socks, or whatever, and feel like setting up the nursery will somehow make this better. Somehow. No notebook here yet, but I have a lot of random notes stored on my phone.

Oh, and props for getting up so early with OH! Mine got up at 7:15 this morning, and I rolled over and tried to go back to sleep. In all fairness his alarm had been going off and on for half an hour and I was a bit annoyed..

Nev yay for the engagement ring! And depuffing!!

Indi those pictures are breathtaking! Glad the HV visit went well, and that you're feeling settled.

Christmas shopping Miley? Time is going so quickly. I don't think we're doing Christmas this year as it's so close to my due date Hmm Harrison is adorable in his suit - love the furry hood! I wish I had something as cozy for myself at the moment!!

LillianFullStop · 17/10/2016 22:45

Nice to hear from you planet! Hope things start on their own before your induction!

Thanks potato and bunch and soda I'll check out those dummy brands tomorrow!

Lisa sounds like first day on your own went well Smile am thinking of getting a baby monitor for when I'm on my own with LO

sounds like baby brain stardrey - I think nows about the time to start the bag and the washing - like indi I freaked when miley went into labour at 36w! Loving those pics indi and miley!!! so so adorable!!

Sweep didn't happen because although cervix is soft and effaced I'm only a half cm dilated so she couldn't do a proper sweep. Having a bit of a bleed now and I'm told it is normal. But how bleeding is normal for an internal exam?? I've got quite a bit of brown blood and it's freaked me out a bit!

bunch she said she could feel the head and DH thought it was quite amusing too haha

PotatosMum · 17/10/2016 22:49

Planet I know the feeling RE house move. I hope all went well and you're nice and settled. I'm sure baby will be here soon Smile

Bunch the description of what Atticus was thinking in womb had me giggling Smile OH and I talk like that for Arya all the time.
It doesn't look like we're going to get around to getting DSD furniture this week so she's going to have to wait until OH feels up to decorating another room.
I have a babybjorn carrier, I only wear a shirt with it and Arya is only in a sleep suit. I do run really hot though and so does she.
Arya has started fighting naps too now. Often she even stays awake in her pram! Unfortunately that means she gets overtired and grumpy too.
Yay! For Atticus's weight gain.

Soda thanks for sharing your routine. I still spend a huge amount of time feeding and changing Arya but she now stays awake most of the day and has done for the past week or two. It's getting a little difficult to entertain her all day.

Damson good luck for your 12 week scan. It is such an exciting event, enjoy it Smile

Audrey I washed all Arya's clothes and popped them in a plastic container until she was born to keep them clean. I have to confess, since she was born I haven't bothered washing new clothes before she uses them... There just aren't enough hours in the day!

Lisa embarrassingly I'm only managing one or two showers a week with OH watching Arya. I will start having showers while he's at work eventually but for now I'm too worried she'll cry.

Miley Harrison looks so cute in his coat Grin

Indi those photo shoot pictures are adorable. We're going to try and get some done soon.

So, Arya and I have been having a silent battle for the past hour. We did our night time routine and had a long cuddle then I popped her in bed. Unlike last night she decided that she needed her dummy to sleep, unfortunately she keeps spitting it out and then freaking out because she doesn't have it Hmm she's not always the brightest penny Wink
I think she's finally asleep now though so all is well Smile

Nursery painting is now finished, just need to gloss now then we're done and I can work on building the furniture Grin still no sign of the wall sticker though Sad

Mileymoocow · 18/10/2016 07:15

That's so exciting that nursery is done potato

may yep! I'm so excited for Christmas and shopping is the only thing I have to worry about as we're going out for dinner this year! Grin

Worst night with Harrison so far last night. He would only settle on my chest or next to me in bed. I persevered for hours and eventually gave in after he started creating 15 minutes after I'd managed to get him to sleep for the 4th time at half 1!!!

I noticed last night his bottom is a little bit red. I think it's because he's having about 5 small poos a day so the constant cleaning is irritating him even though we still use cotton wool and water Sad I have some metanium treatment cream so I'll let him have some time with his nappy off today and hope the cream works. Poor little soul

Pinklily1 · 18/10/2016 08:33

Lots to catch up on....

Sorry the midwife couldn't do your sweep lilian. Will she try again before your due date? I had a bit of bleeding after mine, but not much. Keep an eye on it and if you are concerned let her know.

lisa, I get in the shower when Evelyn is asleep, or I put her in her bouncy chair and take her into the room with me. She seems to like the bright lights and shower noise.

I can't believe you are 35 weeks stardry! Get that hospital bag packed just in case!

potato, we don't have much of a routine really. Basically, when Evelyn wakes up I feed her in bed, then I get showered etc, dress her and then we tend to go out and about for the day. Always home in time for OH getting back from work, he has some daddy time and some play time makes dinner and then it's either bath time or relaxing time.

miley, Evelyn is almost six weeks old and we have hit a bit of a bad patch with sleeping. She gets very cranky late afternoon/early evening and it's difficult to settle her for bed time. Not sure if it's an age thing as she's similar age wise to Harrison.

Quick question about sleeping. Does everyone put baby in a gro bag ar night or is anyone using sheets and blankets? If so, are you just using one sheet and one blanket at night? We've got gro bags but at the minute we are using a flannel sheet and a cellular blanket. I always worry about Evelyn's temperature though and whether she is too hot or too cold. I am always cold and OH is always hot so it's hard to tell! We've got a gro egg but I still think it's cold when it says the temperature is ok SmileHmm

Sodasoda · 18/10/2016 09:37

Pink / miley - Alexa is 6 weeks on Friday and has been pretty cranky in the evening - just wanting to feed all the time and hard to settle her. Hopefully it's just a 6 week growth spurt and all our babies will return to their normal lovely selves soon!

Pink - I use a gro snug as Alexa is still a bit small for a gro bag. But the other night when I didn't get her gro snug washed in time I used a cellular blanket which I folded and then tucked round her sleepyhead. She was wearing a short sleeved body and a long sleeved baby gro. I always worry about layers!

Mileymoocow · 18/10/2016 10:14

pink and soda I hope it's just a phase for us all, he's being a right tinker! We used blankets for the first few weeks and have only recently started using gro snug/gro bags. I did the same as soda, short sleeved vest and a sleepsuit then folded in half a cellular blanket and tucked it under his sleepyhead! My midwife told me to feel his chest and compare how you would feel if your skin felt that temperature. It's difficult to judge I think! Waiting on health visitor then we're off to get a Beatbo for Harrison for Christmas as OH is obsessed with getting one. Anyone seen jingle all the way? Yeah, I have images of that happening.

LillianFullStop · 18/10/2016 10:30

Exciting about the nursery potato! When are you thinking of moving her there? I'm thinking LO will be in our room while she still fits in the Snuzpod - maybe 9 months? Then we need to get her a bigger cot that will be in her own room. Will see - I might have separation anxiety! Confused

miley poor Harrison. 5 poos a day must be rough on his little tot bum.

pink the bleeding has stopped altogether now - I just freaked because i hadn't seen bleeding for 8-9 months! She will try again next week at 40+1 - I REALLY hope things kick off before then! Still feeling crampy but hoping that is a good sign.

What's a beatbo miley? I've still got a couple of things on the list to get - GroEgg, dummys, a bouncer and Ewan the Sheep (anyone tried this?) Will probably just send DH off to grab them when LO comes

LisaTheSimpson · 18/10/2016 11:19

Lillian - Euan the sheep works really well for us. Quinn has to have the white noise to sleep (she loves the extractor fan in the kitchen Hmm). Initially we used our phones and put on white noise playlists on Spotify, but Euan works better. The only downside about Euan is that he goes off after 20 minutes or so, and Quinn can wake to find it off. I turn it on again a lot during the night.

Amazon Prime is great for things like this.

Lots of the hair grip of death this morning!

We started with cuddles in the big bed, but now she's refusing to be put down....
