Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Sooo many gorgeous babies now! And equally lovely Mummy's! We are amazing! What a year! Can you believe it's been a year since our first tentative TTC thread!? Look how far we've come!

Roll up, literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Well we've put on a whole pound for the 3rd week running. He's now 9lb 15oz and apparently his bum isn't too bad so I'm a happy momma!

lillian apparently it's toy of the year. OH wants one for Christmas so he can play with it next year. I have no idea what it does!

Planeteer · 18/10/2016 12:01

Well done Harrison! Hope his bum's not too sore and glad you can relax Miley.
*
Lillian* we've got Ewan primed and ready in the Snuzpod, just in case. Am sure there's a whole heap of stuff we're missing though and am hopeful that Amazon prime will come good.

Realised that I haven't got v much in the way of bathing stuff. Do you lovely new mummies recommend a separate baby bath? What about towels? Do we need special ones? I have one CuddleDry but that's it at the moment!

LillianFullStop · 18/10/2016 12:25

Awww Lisa Quinn looks so cosy in the big bed - looks like she could get used to it Smile

Good news on Harrison's weight gain miley! I've just looked up Beatbo on Youtube and it's so cute!

Ewan the Sheep is definitely on the cards and of course how could i forget Amazon Prime!

planet we went with the Snuggle bath - we only have a shower at home so we definitely needed something for LO. We have 1 hooded towel so far as not planning to bathe too often in the first weeks - Will probably need another to alternate with.

Sodasoda · 18/10/2016 13:55

I'm definitely getting my money's worth with Amazon prime Smile

I have Ewan the dream sheep. We use it at night time to help show its night time and she needs to sleep! I think Alexa quite likes it but she'd probably be fine without it.

We have hooded towels - I think 2 will be fine, definitely to start with. I had 2 and I then received 3 as gifts!! Shock Pram blankets has been another favourite gift - we've been given 4! I have 2 friends who've just had babies and I was hoping they would be girls so I could regift them some pink blankets. 2 boys!

We have an angelcare bath seat thing which fits into the bath. I really like it and Alexa seems quite happy in it. I was pretty nervous bathing her at first but the seat definitely helped.

Mileymoocow · 18/10/2016 14:58

planet we have 4 hooded towels which is a good number because he's prone to weeing on them when he's getting dried. I also recommend the angel care bath seat. We had a separate baby bath and it was much more difficult to bathe him - especially on my own.

We have a car full of baby toys. God help us when Harrison is actually old enough to understand Christmas. OH went a little wild.

PotatosMum · 18/10/2016 15:57

Miley sorry you had s rough night. But excellent news on the weight gain.

Arya's getting a toy piano and a toy drum for Christmas so far... I've got a higher tolerance for annoying music that I thought pre birth Wink I'm definitely the one who goes crazy at Christmas in this house!

Pink I used sheets and blankets to begin with but Arya slept so much better when I started using grobags Smile

lillian I always intended for Arya to move into her new room at 6 months but now she's here I'm pretty sure I'll want to keep her in our room a lot longer. She's got the rest of her life to have her own room, for now I want my baby close.

Lisa Quinn looks adorable. Arya learned the hair death grip last night. Time for a hair cut me thinks.

Arya slept thought he night again last night Grin 11pm to 5:30am when she had a massive poo Confused she's also been a right snuggle hog today. She just wants to be cuddled which is cute but not helpful for my plans of starting a business Confused love I really Grin

LillianFullStop · 18/10/2016 17:41

The reviews for Ewan are quite good I might get one for me too lol!

miley that's sweet your DH is going all out for Harrison's first Christmas Smile sorry you had a rough night of sleep though.

Soda we have so many blankets too half of them gifted the other half I bought (I LOVE blankets I would get 100 of them if I knew DH wouldn't have me committed)

Made the effort to go out and walk around town today and pushed through the fanny daggers. Might have overdone it as I'm now achy and crampy and am hobbling just to get from the living room to the bathroom Confused... I'm meant to be hemming some trousers but I am now just stuck watching the Kardashians...

LillianFullStop · 18/10/2016 17:42

Potato 11-5.30am is amazing! Arya is a star!

Planeteer · 18/10/2016 20:10

Lillian I'm so with you on the powering through fanny daggers and anchored down ladyparts! Went for a massive walk and have been bouncing on the ball for three hours. Any time I need to move anywhere I am hobbling around like an extra in a bad Western film! Hope we both get going soon. I don't know about you but the waiting is killing me!

Lisa I've just clocked those pictures of Quinn. She's so cute, I can't cope!!

Potato what a little champ Arya is with that sleeping! Amazing work, tiny one.

AudreyBradshaw · 18/10/2016 20:41

Baby's room partially complete! I can't believe we have a cot up! An actual cot! For a baby! My baby! Blimey!

potato Arya is such an excellent sleeper! Wonder baby or what!? Definitely keep her close, they're only small for such a short amount of time!

miley I'm another one who can't wait for Christmas! Can't buy any cute onesies or theme stuff yet though because I don't know how big/small etc it's going to be!

lillian we've got a Ewan the sheep ready and waiting. Fingers crossed baby makes and appearance soon for you! Take your time and chill out, don't overdo it too much! Same goes for planet !

lisa she's gorgeous and I do love the name Quinn. Enjoy your cuddles!

Briefly was scared the bejeesus out of last night when I woke up at 4am with proper lung hugging cramps all up my back/side of my bump, thought I was going into labour early! It stopped after a while but I couldn't move a muscle and it bloody hurt! Will post some pics of the baby's room when I've tinkered a bit more tomorrow, my poor old feet are killing me today!

PotatosMum · 18/10/2016 21:28

Planet, Lillian you two are nearly there and all the fanny daggers and aches and pains will be gone one baby is here of course you'll probably have other pains to replace them but they won't be as bad so don't worry about it Grin

Audrey this morning pains sound scary but it's probably just your body practicing. Not long for you now either.
As for cute Christmas outfits, I'd get 0-3 it's no big deal if the outfits are a little big, it then being a little small that causes problems.
Can't wait to see your nursery.

Painting is all finally complete in our nursery. And I've cleaned the room and masked up so that we can gloss tomorrow. Hopefully I can do furniture on Thursday and finish over the weekend although there's still no sign of the wall sticker Sad I also need to get Arya's cross stitch framed, make some bunting and I've got a kit to do a mould of her hand print for the wall. It's so exciting to be finally doing her room Grin

PotatosMum · 19/10/2016 00:57

My poor little girl has a stuffy nose tonight. She keeps waking herself up an fussing, she doesn't cry or anything but I can't sleep knowing she's struggling so now in sat in my feeding chair cuffs doing her as being upright seems to help. Think I might pay for my two full nights sleep tonight Confused

PotatosMum · 19/10/2016 01:58

Sorry for the multiple posts. Still awake holding Arya while she sleeps.

Does anyone know at what age babies develop the ability to breath through their mouthes?

Also, those of you using travel systems. At what age are you going to move from a pram to a seat in a semi reclined position?

IrregularCommentary · 19/10/2016 02:30

Hey Potato - I feel your pain in the up with upset baby. Tamsin went back to the docs this morning and we have a diagnosis of combined silent reflux and colic.

The medicine for the reflux has made her constipated and the poor thing is just straining and straining to poo (it's been a couple of days now) and she's in pretty bad discomfort now. There's nothing I can do to help other than hold her and talk to her, it's horrible.

Pinklily1 · 19/10/2016 05:44

irregular, have you tried any massage to help with the constipation? Doctor recommended warm baths and massage to help encourage poo out. Gentle rubbing of tummy and bicycle type movements with babies legs. It's awful seeing them strain.

potato, we also have the sniffles here Confused

Looking forward to seeing nursery pics!

Hope things get moving soon lillian and planet!

Evelyn is 6 weeks old today. I don't know where the time has gone. We both have our six week check ups later on, so fingers crossed everything is fine.

IrregularCommentary · 19/10/2016 09:28

Yeah, all the above Pink. DH finally managed to help her go at about 4am - there has been a towel and muslin cloth sacrificed and a bit of a clean up operation as we got about a 4 in 1 eruption, but she is happier! Smile

IrregularCommentary · 19/10/2016 09:28

Hope the check ups go well x

LillianFullStop · 19/10/2016 09:48

Planet I was soooo achy and crampy after my enthusiastic walking I was worried I had overdone it so I called in yesterday. The advice was yes that's normal and are very positive signs and to keep going with it! So planning mountain climbing another walk today and I've ordered a bouncing ball (yay Amazon Prime!) hopefully to bounce on tonight. Your western reference is perfect! If anyone is curious how John Wayne would look on a bouncing ball I'll post a pic tonight Confused

Stardrey my ramped-up BH and middle of the night period pains started around 36w I think your body is getting some good practice in already!

potato poor Arya with the stuffy nose! Hope it clears up during the day.

Thanks pink hope all goes well with 6 week check!

Glad to hear about Tamsin's poo success irregular! Well worth the collateral damage for a happier bub! Was it the massage and bicycle legs that helped? I might look up a baby massage course in the area.

Pinklily1 · 19/10/2016 10:10

Woo hoo for poo irregular!! I never thought I would get as excited about baby poo as I do now!

Enjoy the mountain climbing lillian Grin

Mileymoocow · 19/10/2016 11:35

We came home with a quiet baby that slept and now 5 weeks later I'm sure he's been possessed! All he has done all night is fuss and cry hysterically, and want to be on me at all times which means I don't sleep because I'm worried I'll hurt him! and every time we've put him down today he's gotten himself so upset the poor little mite. The night time noises are still the same, I'm getting a grand total of an hours sleep a night because he's so loud. I'm convinced it isn't normal at all now and I'm in a right state all night as it sounds as though he's screaming in pain even though he's asleep so I'm worried constantly. I'm absolutely exhausted Sad no signs of reflux or colic either so I have no explanation for it.

lillian and planet I hope there's some progress for you ladies soon!

potato Harrison is really tall so I reckon about 3/4 months he'll be out the bassinet and in the seat! Hope Arya feels better soon, poor mite Sad

irregular I'm so glad Tamsin has had a poo! I hate the thought of babies being constipated as I remember how hideous it was when I was pregnant

My cousins little 12 week old girl has been in hospital all weekend with a virus. She's had to have a cannula in her head to administer antibiotics, my hearts broken for her Sad

Mileymoocow · 19/10/2016 11:42

I sent OH downstairs with him at 5.45am so I could finally get a bit of sleep and he's acting like he's been up all night constantly yawning. Jesus Christ give me strength Hmm

IrregularCommentary · 19/10/2016 11:58

Bicycle legs and massage didn't seem to do much for her Lillian, though I've heard good things for both. The baby Gaviscon she's on for reflux is a thickener rather than antacid, and it's that that's making her struggle. DH ended up soaking a cotton wool bud in olive oil and circling it round on her bum at the exit. Obviously very very gently so as not to cause any damage, but it stimulates the muscles more and that's what finally made her go.

She definitely still has more in her to come out but she's not uncomfortable in the same way now.

I think massaging etc would be good for non thickener based constipation though.

Miley sorry to hear about your rough night. It's really hard work. I've not slept properly (new version of properly!) in over a week now and I'm absolutely shattered! To be fair to him, dh is being a bloody star and taking her as much as he can so I can sleep and he's so apologetic when he brings her back to feed. I'm dreading him being back at work next week though (half term atm) as I'm effectively back on my own then as he really can't do nights when he has work in the morning.

Is Harrison still burping and pooing as normal? If so, hopefully this is a very short term blip and he'll be back to normal soon.

Your poor cousin, I can't even imagine how hard that must be. Christ.

Mileymoocow · 19/10/2016 12:31

irregular yup, burping and pooing fine. We bought some infacol in case it was trapped wind but it made no difference! Your DH sounds like a champ! Mine is fine through the day, though it does piss me off when I find him on his phone when he has Harrison if I'm in the bath and he's awake! I feel that's precious bonding time (hence why I don't manage to post here as much!) But during the night he's next to useless. I don't even bother expressing a night time bottle now we've wasted that much with him not getting up.

I'm glad Tamsin isn't so uncomfortable bless her!

LisaTheSimpson · 19/10/2016 12:35

Eff eff eff!

Just been to the loo and looks like my c-section wound has become pus-like. Loads has just come out (sorry for TMI).

Any advice?

IrregularCommentary · 19/10/2016 12:50

I'd ring your community midwife office Lisa, they'll be able to tell you what you need to do/who you need to see. I suspect it'll be GP in case you need any antibiotics or anything.

Fingers crossed you get it sorted quickly -sounds like you've caught it early so I'm sure you will.
