Hello! As the title suggests I'm pregnant (around 6 weeks with DC2) and still BF DD who is 17 months. I would really like to keep BF throughout and eventually tandem feed, but not sure what to expect.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

22 weeks here and my 16 month old has more or less weaned 😔 He's been dry nursing for a few weeks and seems to have given up - he did have a night time feed about a week ago.
Mixed feelings from me, I'm sad that he gave up because of me and my body but pleased in a way as my boobs were so sore and his latch was getting really lazy!

DS is only having bedtime and first thing feeds now. I was too sick and tired to go to him in the night so now DH goes in to him instead. He's taken to it really well.

essie congrats on feeding for so long, I see what you mean but it seems like your DS did self wean even if circumstances pushed him that way a little!

fox ahh, no night feeds is so nice, I love I don't have to get up (usually) but keep waking up early which I didn't get pre pregnancy. Are you feeling any better yet?

FoxMulder · 23/10/2016 10:19

Hi lullaby. I'm a bit better thanks. Still feel rough and it gets worse as the day goes on but there have been a couple of days where I've not been sick at all!

Had a scan yesterday, so weird to see an actual little person wriggling around in there!

I've really gone off bf lately. Loved it for 2.5 years but now I'm pg I'm finding it sore and annoying.

Interesting that you feel a bit different do you think you might be having a boy this time?? I feel roughly the same I think so I reckon another boy but that is highly unscientific of course!

Good luck with the midwife next week and hope your scan date comes through quickly and isn't too long to wait.

Mine is Friday week, next weekend I am away at a wedding (leaving DS behind for the first time) so I'm hoping the last week will go quickly. Will be 11+5.

I was thinking it might mean a boy, esp with knowing the ovulation date n dtd on the key days sposed to improve chances of a boy ( not that we care what the sex is)

I hope the scan is soon too the wait is killing me !

Let us know how u get on with your scan too !
Good luck with leaving your little one

One of each would be lovely especially as we won't be having any more but not trying to get my heart set on anything until we find out. Like you we don't mind and there are positives of both!

How was your midwife appointment pumkin?

Survived the weekend away from DS and he's feeding again fine, hand expressed a little bit in the shower to relieve a bit of fullness. Now counting down to Friday scan.

Only 2 weeks to go! Hope it goes quickly for you, keep busy. Will you be about 13 weeks by then?

I'm starting to feel a bit better, earlier than last time. Nausea is calming down but still have some moments, have had a nasty cold and the coughing hasn't helped. Still feeling tired though so enjoying an early night whenever possible! Hopefully your cramps are just everything stretching out again but I'm sure you could call your midwife if you're worried?

Well scan went fine! I was a bit nervous but all seemed positive. DC2 was really wiggly and quite co-operative and Dr got the measurements quickly. NT was 1.7 and they found the nasal bone so my downs probability improved to 1/700 from 1/240 for my old age. Then had bloods taken (5 vials 😳) for general tests and for Panorama NIPT. Thought I would have the Harmony but they recommended this one instead. Two weeks or so for results eek.

Hi lullaby by my estimation I'll be more or less 13 weeks
Yeah just over a week to go now can't wait it can't come soon enough!

Glad ur nausea is settling its amazing how more human you feel when that isn't there!
Congratulations on your scan great news about the odds for downs always a big relief isn't it
Keep us updated on the results if ur telling of courseWink

The cramps have settled down n come and go, I'm hoping it's just stretching but it will be what it will be just ride it out n hope for the best

It can't come quick enough can it?! Hopefully I'll have my bloods back around the same time.

Spoke too soon on the nausea have been sick twice since turning 12 weeks but yesterday it was because I hadn't eaten for a few hours and I really need to eat regularly still it turns out!

This thread has gone quiet where is everyone??

Are they?? I don't think it's for us haha! I was thinking I might get DH a cake with blue or pink icing (bit of a cliche!) assuming all is well and I can keep my mouth shut that long. How about you?

Report
Pumkinpie1 · 20/11/2016 11:10

That sounds like a nice idea, and you get to eat cake too so a win win !
We haven't decided yet if we're going to find out, we had a surprise with our first n that was nice but we can deff see pros to knowing the sex this time being organised etc
I think it will be one of them things we decide on the day of the scan

lullaby23 · 21/11/2016 12:17

Yeah, see how you feel on the day. I have no willpower and definitely want to know!

Unfortunately they haven't been able to do the test from my blood sample so I've got to go back tomorrow so feeling a bit down about that Sad

Oh lovely Pumkin glad you got to see them! That's a shame you couldn't get the measurements - were they too wriggly or just facing the wrong way? But nice to be able to have another look next week.
