Hello! As the title suggests I'm pregnant (around 6 weeks with DC2) and still BF DD who is 17 months. I would really like to keep BF throughout and eventually tandem feed, but not sure what to expect.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

Hey hope you all had a good Xmas!

Fingers crossed you don't get the sore boobs this time zig

Not be long until ur scan on the 10th lullaby
seems crazy how fast this last month has gone

Merry Christmas all, hope you had a good one Xmas Smile

zig that's good then, last time I had sore nipples from before BFP (thought AF was coming as usual sign) until DS was born! Thought I was going to escape it this time but nope.

fox is it hurting you? I think I have some milk left but it's toe curlingly painful at the moment and feels like I'm being bitten but I don't think he's biting!

How are you doing pumkin? Yes 12 days to go, hope it goes quickly and everything looks ok. I've picked up a few girls clothes whilst I'm home for the hols which is exciting though a bit premature.

Bit bored of staying with family now although the free childcare is handy. Can't quite believe there is still turkey left Xmas Shock

Happy new year too!

Yes back home now, it usually takes DS 2 weeks to get back on track with the time difference so not much sleep at the moment!

Will check back after my scan.

Hey lullaby. No, it doesn't hurt anymore it just makes me want to scream "aaaaaargh! Get off my nipple!". It's like having someone flick your nipple 200 times a minute. Works like magic for getting DS to sleep though.

Please can I join in. I'm roughly 10 weeks pregnant and currently breastfeeding my almost 18mo DD.

I'm not sure if my nipples are more sensitive or DDs latch has become a little lazy but feeding her makes me cringe!

I wanted to feed DD until 2yo but this pregnancy was a complete surprise and I'm not sure I will have the energy or ability to tandem feed after a csection!

lullaby23 · 13/01/2017 04:04

fox at least you're not in pain?! I know what you mean about it being useful, not sure how I would cope with the long haul flights we just did without it! DS doesn't feed to sleep at home but when we're travelling it does help.

welcome icelemon & congrats on the surprise pregnancy! I think we will have a similar gap between DC mine will have just turned 2 when this one arrives. I started getting painful latch around 16 weeks it's just about bearable but sometimes have to take a deep breath so I completely sympathise. Will also be having ELCS and no idea about whether tandem feeding will work out!

20 week scan went fine, definitely still a girl Grin and all the organs etc seemed to be ok so that's a relief. Good luck to you for yours pumkin is it next week? Not long to go I hope.

Thanks lullaby and congratulations on your little girl. Glad all looked well on your scan.

My EDD is the same as my DDs was so there will be 2 years between them.

Thanks ice. That will be an expensive week or two for birthdays then! I am most likely having ELCS at 38 weeks which will be 2 weeks after DS's birthday.

Glad your scan went well pumpkin, halfway through...hope it goes quickly for you.

I have my dating scan on Monday, the anxiety has kicked in but fingers crossed all is well.

My DM is having DD on Sunday overnight...the first time I've been away from her at night, I hope she settles well and I'm going to miss her but I can't wait to have a long sleep in!

Glad everything went well for you pumkin and so nice to reach the half way point! The end is in sight...almost.

Good luck for Monday ice it's nerve wracking before you've seen them on screen. Enjoy your lie in too! I'm sure DD will be fine, it's hard the first time you leave them though.

Ticking along here, 22 weeks tomorrow. Feeling some movement but convinced this baby is not as wriggly as DS was.

Congratulations Ice

I'm so sick of (what feels like) having my nipples pinched. My head wants to go on but my body finds it really cringey!

Plodding along here. 23 weeks.

Report
IceLemonGin · 21/01/2017 19:09

Thanks lullaby! Did you feel movement earlier this time around?

Thank you Fox. Sympathies with the pinched nipples, is it just when you feed? I've had a pinched nipple problem lately but it's down to DDs bad manners when feeding!

Did anyone else have an issue with supply around 12 weeks? My right breast keeps having a stinging, shooting feeling I used to get when my supply was regulating and when I hand express, it shoots out, even shortly after DD has fed.

Thanks lullaby , ice.
Hope the dating scan goes well ice keep us informed, have a nice child free night . I could feel this baby about 18 weeks only slight at first but more pronounced now, last time it was more like 22weeks
22 weeks that seems to have gone crazy fast lullaby, nice to feel them wriggling around in there comforting in a way.
Sounds painful fox, hope it resolves soon !

Yeah just when I feed Ice Which is only a couple of times a day. I guess I'm worried that if I keep going then I will feel this level of irritation feeding the newborn. I think my milk has dried up, can't remember when that happened. Probably around 14 weeks. My boobs certainly disappeared!

I think I might have felt this baby later if anything. I still don't feel it a lot. Maybe I'm just more distracted this time!

NotMyPenguin · 23/01/2017 13:00

Yes! I'm 5 weeks pregnant (if it sticks) and still breastfeeding DD1, who is 3.5, at night. She shows no signs of stopping and I'm not planning to wean her until she's ready to stop by herself.

I think I may have had a chemical pregnancy about 18 months ago, which I attributed to the breastfeeding -- I felt nauseous during the daytimes, sore breasts etc, but then the symptoms had vanished every morning after a night of DD1 'snacking' (breastfeeding).

But this pregnancy feels stronger and I am getting much more constant symptoms.

fox oh no poor you, is it nursing aversion? Hope it goes once your new baby is here. I recently joined a tandem feeding FB group and had a good scan through some of the posts and some people said they still got the aversion when they tried to feed at the same time but when they fed their newborn and toddler separately it was fine.

ice I did feel movements fairly early both times (approx 16 weeks and 12 weeks) despite having anterior placenta and being a fatty which is quite odd so I think it really varies from person to person. I haven't had any milk shooting out for a looong time so can't help there I'm afraid!

Still doing twice a day feeds (sometimes more but trying to stick to 2!) and must say it's not as painful as it was so hoping it stays this way. I did squeeze my nipple after feeding him the other day (sentences I didn't think I'd be writing...) and there was a bit of milk and it didn't look colostrumy so I think I still have a bit left for now.

Yes pumkin it does make me smile when I feel some proper movement, I was sitting down whilst DS was napping earlier and felt loads of kicks! I think the cold water helped.

Welcome penguin and congratulations on the BFP! Sending you good wishes for a healthy pregnancy.

Congratulations Penguin! How are you feeling? Hope you have a happy and healthy pregnancy!

I had my dating scan and I'm 11+2 weeks so an August baby for me. Had our first night away from DD, left her at my DMs at 7pm and picked her up the next day at 4pm, was impressed that I managed to go without expressing as she can be a bit of a boob monster. She's been really clingy since though!

I'm a fatty too lullaby but can't remember how far along I felt movement last time. Interesting that you still have milk as I was told it almost certainly dries up around 16 weeks.

Thanks lullaby!

icelemongin, what a lovely username you have. Sigh! Thanks for asking. I'm feeling a bit sick most of the time but pretty good. I'd been expecting to have more of an aversion to breastfeeding by now, but although it's a bit painful when DD latches on at first it's really not too bad. I was worried I'd have to wean her.

Report
IceLemonGin · 25/01/2017 22:40

Penguin I'm still suffering with nausea although it's got a little better lately so I feel your pain!

I've only had an aversion to breastfeeding a couple of times and it seemed to be when I felt the dreaded pregnancy exhaustion. Are you still feeding through the day?
