Hello! As the title suggests I'm pregnant (around 6 weeks with DC2) and still BF DD who is 17 months. I would really like to keep BF throughout and eventually tandem feed, but not sure what to expect.

Anyone else in a similar boat?

NotMyPenguin · 25/01/2017 22:50

No, just BF at night and in the morning.

I don't mind the nausea at this stage (6 weeks) as it makes me feel, rightly or wrongly, that the pregnancy is sticking. But I'm sure I'll be tired of feeling sick soon!

How far along are you, icelemongin?

Cineraria · 31/01/2017 18:16

Hoping to join you. I'm five weeks tomorrow by LMP but think I probably ovulated a few days late. I'm still feeding my sixteen month old son roughly every four hours, the same as when he was three months old! Interesting to read that Lots of your babies have cow's milk allergies too, like DS. He has oat milk in an open cup the times a day but still wants a feed after. I'm glad as he has been catching everything from nursery but always recovers quickly.

I found out last week on our wedding anniversary that we high to have another which was lovely. I'm still feeling a bit cautious about it though as I lost my first pregnancy at 13 weeks before we had DS and the third, last summer, at eight weeks. I hope this one goes the distance.

DS has been really moody the last week or so. I think my hormones affect him through the milk as he gets bad PMT too.

IceLemonGin · 01/02/2017 13:41

Welcome cine and congratulations. Best wishes for a smooth and healthy pregnancy!

I found DD was very emotional from about 6-10 weeks. She was in a leap but the hormone thing did cross my mind too! Hopefully it settles down. How are you feeling?

Cineraria · 01/02/2017 14:51

Thank you IceLemonGin, I am feeling fine so far, just very sleepy and having strange dreams each night, achy joints and occasionally some slight nausea.

Interesting to hear that your DD was also emotional at the start. Glad it stopped after a while.

I need to get out of the habit of feeding DS in my bed at night. He feeds, I nod off because I'm so sleepy and wake up a couple of hours later to find him still frantically sucking. I don't think it's good for my sleep or his. The problem is that it's so tempting to lie down in a warm bed when I'm feeling sleepy instead of getting cold and crotchety sitting in his room feeding him.

Pumkinpie1 · 01/02/2017 20:23

Congratulations to the newbies
Sorry to hear about the nausea Ice & penguin.
I also have an anterior placenta lullaby, not sure what I had last time but I hardly felt any movements last pregnancy hope I get more this time

Has anybody had or thinking of having a 4D scan quite tempted this time ?

lullaby23 · 03/02/2017 05:47

Welcome & congrats cineraria were you on the TTC thread? Interesting that your DS still feeds such a lot, wow!

I've been having a wobble about tandem feeding this week as read on the FB group I joined that lots of toddlers go back to feeding like a newborn when your milk comes in and not sure I can cope with two feeding round the clock!

I think we are pretty much dry nursing now, DS is drinking more cows milk and asking for his cup more. The other day he asked for his cup rather than usual morning BF so I thought he was weaning but 5 mins later he crawled on my lap to feed 😅

Not sure about doing a 4d scan pumkin I find the pictures a bit scary tbh! Also although we found out the sex I don't really want a preview of what she will look like ifyswim?

Cineraria · 03/02/2017 10:20

Yes, lullaby I was on it for a couple of weeks in the summer but got pregnant quite soon after I joined and then didn't join back after the miscarriage because it took a while before I was fertile again and I started back to work and wasn't very focused anyway. I remember you and pumkinpie too, I think. So glad to find you here.

I definitely recognise the drink all my cup milk and then grab a boob straight after thing! Maybe it reminds them.

lullaby23 · 06/02/2017 00:06

I thought I recognised your username, sorry to hear about your mc. Great you have managed to conceive again so quickly.

lullaby23 · 09/02/2017 07:56

So I seem to have started producing colostrum and it hasn't put DS off. Damn! Grin

Acorncat · 09/02/2017 08:19

Hi, I'm 27w and my DS is 2.4. I'm also spilt on whether to encourage weaning or just stick with it, tandem scares me a bit too if they go back to feeding like newborns - especially over night! But on the other hand I have no way to get him to sleep without feeding Blush. Lack of milk doesn't seem to have been a problem though I think his latch is now so terrible that he's not actually getting the colostrum that I'm making now.

Cineraria · 10/02/2017 12:39

Hi Acorncat! I have something to ask you and lullaby. When I spoke to the dietician we saw about DS's allergies and I mentioned that we were ttc, she commented that I'd certainly know when my milk turns to colostrum by the contents of DS's potty but didn't elaborate, just grinned in a you don't know what you're letting yourself in for type of way. Is it awful? Are we talking texture or smell or what? I'm slightly terrified!

Acorncat · 10/02/2017 16:11

I've heard that too, that colostrum has a laxative effect and it's not pretty! But I haven't found that yet, he has the odd dodgy nappy but also has allergies so could just be that he's eaten something he shouldn't. I'm hoping it isn't too bad, one because it can't be nice on their stomachs but also cos I think nursery will keep trying the send him home presuming he has a big!

lullaby23 · 11/02/2017 01:27

Welcome acorn it's a tough one but feeding to sleep is so useful! I suppose you have time to try other means of getting him to sleep in case you're not able to always do it when the baby arrives? Can your partner settle him without you?

cineraria haha well he drinks mostly cows milk & eats pretty well so I think the nursing is for comfort & cuddles more than nutrition. I have noticed his poos are a bit softer and sometimes lighter than usual but I don't think he's getting enough to go fully newborn style just yet?! I reckon this might happen when my milk comes in if he goes to town though haha!

FoxMulder · 20/02/2017 14:36

Hi guys! I think we have almost weaned here. 3 nights running i said 'no' to milk and he was fine with that but last night I said 'ah go on then' and he was out like a light. I probably shouldn't change my mind like that. I've still got major aversion and can't decide whether to push through it or call it quits.

lullaby23 · 26/02/2017 12:23

Sounds good fox at least you have practice settling him without milk for when DC2 arrives.

DS is still feeding twice or so a day, although if we have a quiet/lazy day he is more interested. Trying to teach him to say please so hear a lot of "malk! malk! malk! malk! peeeease?" at the moment which does crack me up.

UndersecretaryofWhimsy · 06/03/2017 11:24

So I'm still breastfeeding a 2y3m old and have also just found out that I'm about 7 weeks pregnant with IDENTICAL TWINS.

Feeling more than a little overwhelmed at the moment...

Oddsocksforeveryone · 06/03/2017 11:30

Crikey undersecretary I bet that was a shock! Can I join? I'm still breastfeeding just turned 8 month old dd and am 5wk+ (no lmp to go on)

lullaby23 · 10/03/2017 10:37

Yikes, congratulations undersecretary that's amazing! Incredible that they can tell it's ID twins so early too. Guess you'll have your hands full in a few months!

Congratulations too oddsocks that's a very small gap, you must be super fertile to get pregnant again so soon!

How is everyone getting on?

Oddsocksforeveryone · 11/03/2017 19:15

Thank you @lullaby23. Funnily enough im not supposed to be, both my ovaries are polycystic and I was told I'd probably not concieve naturally. Was seemingly infertile for years then something seems to have changed and this baby will be dc4! After my second section the surgeon came to see me because my ovaries are a mess so I've really no idea why it works but I'm super glad it does. This one has caught us off guard though, hopefully get a scan in a few weeks to see where we are.

Hope everyone is ok.

lullaby23 · 15/03/2017 09:39

Even more exciting then! Wow DC4 you will also have your hands full! It's funny how this happens sometimes like when women fall pregnant naturally after ivf etc.

lullaby23 · 03/04/2017 03:22

Anyone still out there? Plodding along here, if anything DS wants more feeds at the moment. Enjoying our quiet cuddly moments he's even fallen asleep a couple of times when we've missed his nap but can't help but worry what he'll be like when baby is here to prioritise!

missm0use · 10/04/2017 23:37

Just found this! Anyone still breastfeeding and pregnant?

DD is 14 months and I'm 12wks-ish pregnant.

lullaby23 · 11/04/2017 04:58

Congratulations missmouse! it's gone quite quiet here, hopefully there are still a few ladies lurking.

missm0use · 12/04/2017 07:17

Thanks Lullaby - congratulation to you too!

Foggymist · 13/04/2017 08:42

I'm 8 weeks pregnant and breastfeeding my 2 year old. Still attempting night weaning because two years of very broken sleep has broken me, but he wakes a thousand times whether he gets/wants milkies or not so I don't know why I'm bothering! #sotired
