Hi all, have tried to catch up....
Myfairone- great news on feeling the baby move its lovely isnt it

Weddingcake- you realy have a rough few weeks hope you feel better soon..

Justaboutmanaging- less your ds starting to count... Mine is a slow talker he has an assesmentfrom the speach therapist on the 2nd March..

DS still isnt right, he went to creche this morning and I got a phone call to pick him up he was trying to go to sleep on the cusions... but then he would get up run round for 5 moins then crash again.. DH had gone into work and told me he would be 1/2hr.... 4hrs later.. I wasnt happy, as when I got the ophone call re DS I was half way round on a walk with the dog so had to walk really fast back home, drop the dog of and get to the creche asap.. (DH had took the car..).. Just got in from picking DS up been home 15mins got a call from DD school saying she was crying and that her foot was really hurting her.. so I had to go and get her and she could hardly put anyweight on her foot.. but she had to walk home as I had no car and DS in the puushchair.. I ttried her oin the puschair but it was ready to collapse.. so then I tried to carry her.. and push push chair.. not a good move ..as she is 147cm and 7 stone!!!.. Iwas worried about her as last year she had 5 fractures to that foot in 6months!!!!! Dr said it seemed ok but if she cant weight bare in the mornign then have to take her back...
DS has thrown up everynight since his dad got back!! with the phlegm going sdown his throat bless him.. so mine and DH hubby time has been eventful since he came back.. just not the kind of eventful we thought we would get...lol..

Take care all..
xx

Hello all! I haven't been posting very much but I have spent many hours reading all of the wonderful advice and contributions on this site.

My husband and went to our 18 week scan last Friday and it was great to see all of the little details (face, hands, beating heart etc.) Our technician wouldn't commit to anything but she did suggest that the baby could be a girl so we are very excited (but would also have been excited if it was a boy). This baby is our first so everything is an adventure!

I'm very glad to be over the nausea but am still feeling fairly tired. Have felt the baby move only very slightly (I think!) so am looking forward to more developments there.

Anyway, I wish you all the very best as we journey towards B-Day in July!

Jennster · 13/02/2007 09:18

Morning folks. I'm only 17 weeks and have felt the little stirring movements that I didn't feel until 22+ weeks last time, but this morning oh my goodness. I was lying in bed and felt the baby, so put my hand there and felt the whole mass move. The sort of movement you get really late on when the whole baby somersaults!

This sounds stupid but there's something in there! Was a bit upset I didn't get a 12 week scan (saw a blob at 8 weeks)as you really get to see loads so am happy now. Off to Drs later to sort out my sinusitis.

Cyee · 13/02/2007 10:15

Jennster - it's an amazing feeling isn't it? It's my first so it took me a while to get over the freaked out stage, but I've had a few feelings like that where there's a real shift. You're right - there really is something in there! I have my 20 week scan on Monday - can't wait!! I want put a face to this little wriggler

Myfairone · 13/02/2007 10:31

Morning all,

Twoplusone - You could write a soap opera! lol....you can never say life isnt eventful! Sorry to hear that one is puking and the other hobbling! I do hope that you and DH are getting some 'quality' time in the evenings.

I have been having some very strange feelings in my tum and can only assume it is my fair one! I had a feeling like little bubbles were running under the surface of the skin this morning...it kind of tickles and is a very cute feeling. I am so excited to feel it move around!

Good luck to all those going for scans...I feel like my 20 week one is a lifetime away (13th March!)

I am celebrating this morning as I slept for 8 hours and only pee'd once!!!! I feel so much better today! Its amazing what some sleep can do for you! Bit different from the 'head down the toilet' start I had yesterday!

pulapula · 13/02/2007 12:19

Hello,

Just managed to catch up on all the messages after feeling too ill to get out of bed over the last few days.

I've had the cold from hell, which was getting onto my chest, so went to the docs yesterday and was prescribed some anti-biotics (so was DD) and we are both so much happier now. It's amazing how quickly they work.

Regarding the bladder weaknesses that some people have been suffering. I didn't really get any during my last pregnancy, but after the birth, I lost complete control (peed on the floor as I got out of hospital bed and couldn't do anything to stop it). I ended up seeing a physio for 6 months to help strenghen the muscles. I am now peeing myself everytime I cough, sneeze or blow my nose, so am worried that I will be even worse following the next birth. I am trying to do my pelvic floor exercises regularly, and recommend that everyone do them. I didn't realise that giving birth could lead to total incontinence and tena lady wearing! It was very depressing.

Cyee- I have my 20 week scan next Monday too, when I will be 21 weeks. We are hoping to find out the sex of the baby- is anyone else?

Also, I decided to buy a doppler from e-bay (Angelsounds) and would really recommend it. As I have been off my food and feeling so tired, it is really nice to hear that baby is doing well inside. I do feel movements quite a lot now, but it is still nice to hear the heartbeat too.

Myfairone · 13/02/2007 13:04

Pulapula - so sorry to hear you have been feeling so poorly. It definitely seems like that time of year when everyone is going down with something or another! Glad the anti-b's are doing the trick.

Thank you for reminding me about the pelvic floor exercises. I really have to concentrate and keep forgetting to do them!

Hope all goes well with the 20 week scan, how exciting to be seeing the baby again!

We have decided not to find out the sex of our baby. Partly because everyone keeps asking us and its amusing me to keep them all waiting! My Mum is going crazy as she is itching to start shopping and is bored with looking at cream and white!

Hope you feel better soon Pulapula.

pulapula · 13/02/2007 13:11

Myfairone- we are hoping to find out the sex of the baby AND not tell anyone, just to keep them all guessing.

To stop them nagging, we'll pretend we didn't ask, or we couldn't see, but not sure how long we can keep this up, but it will be fun knowing our little secret for a while anyway.

We'll probably go for the scan and find baby won't uncross his/her legs or something, but we won't be too disappointed if that's the case.

Cyee · 13/02/2007 13:16

Pulapula - we're the same - not going to tell anyone we know (if they can tell us). I can't remember if it was waaaay back on this thread or on another (or if I am imagining it) but we have decided to steal an MN idea and ask the sonographer to write the sex down and tuck the note away in an envelope. We then plan to open the envelope with some bubbly later. Sounds cheesy so I might chicken out - but I like the idea of us being able to be excited, as I'm the sort of person who tends to play it cool in those situs

If we do find out I don't know how good I'll be at not slipping up! Though we have told people that if we find out, we probs won't tell them.

Miaou · 13/02/2007 13:17

Myfairone - tell her there is nothing wrong with yellow, green or even a bit of blue! My db (sex unknown) has a stack of things in each of these colours. No need to be boring!!

(still being sick - grr. I threw up all over ds this morning whilst changing his dirty nappy )

Trimum2 · 13/02/2007 13:26

Good idea pulapula - best of both worlds. I find it strange that people ask if I am having a boy or a girl. I think its such a private thing to know if you do find out! But thats just me.

MFone - this seems to be the most common and not talked about side effect of giving birth! I think there is some kind of conspiracy going on.

No one actually tells you the reality of the impact until you find out yourself afterwards. I had a ventouse / was cut / he was yanked out v.quickly the last time so I guess I can't be surprised that I'm suffering now. Not sure if you have one of those ideal natural births where everything goes smoothly and you open up slowly that you are ok afterwards????

Chooster · 13/02/2007 14:07

Sorry that you are suffering Pulapula but great advise on the pelvic floor exercises. I only ever do them when I read something on here about it - I must get better!!!

Twoplusone - what a nightmare - 2 kids poorly just when you could do with the peace and quiet. I hope DH wasn't in the doghouse for too long.

Sorry for those still feeling sick - Miaou - its bad enough having to clean dirty nappies not to mention sick as well. I hipe you feel better soon.

Regarding the baby's sex we hope to find out when I go for my next scan (18wks) - But I doubt we'll tell anyone unless I crumble under pressure. I like the ide of having it put in an envelope and opening it in the privacy of your own home. I'm the same in that I dont tend to show my excitement in those sort of situations. Only a week and a day to wait.

Hope everyone else is feeling OK

typhoonsmum · 13/02/2007 17:37

I had a scan yesterday (as work had a new scanner machine and one of the doctors wanted to play with it so I willing volunteered)
I asked him if he could tell the sex at this stage (16 weeks). He said it may still be too early - think he was covering his own back. He then said it looked like a boy and after a minute or so he said "I'd say that was a boy"
Still not sure whether to run out and buy blue clothes (LIDL is doing fantastic blue and pink baby monitors next week) I have 20 week scan in four weeks so I'll ask again then but that is two scans I've had when they say it is a boy (Yes one was at 11 weeks and may not be reliable)

earlyriser · 14/02/2007 13:36

Is that what you call getting your own back miaou?! i know i shouldn't but it did make me smile, think of all the times he's done it to you

Firststar - I had same sensation today whilst standing waiting for the lift going for lunch. Very weird pressure. Felt very odd. But exactly what you describe. Gone now...

Jennster · 14/02/2007 21:34

Anybody still breastfeeding? When are you planning on stopping? Am going to knock off the morning feed soon I think. Only carrying on coz I'm so lazy....

Groveregg · 15/02/2007 09:16

Jennster yes I am, but only one feed a day now. I just had the go ahead from a dietician to stop last week (ds has dairy allergy and I wanted to be sure he'd get enough calcium without it) so we've already cut down on one feed last week; it was surprisingly untraumatic and strangely my bump doubled in size within 3 days after that so it really must have needed those nutrients! Our last one is the morning feed and I think I have more of an issue with that one - I am terrible in the mornings and will have to face up to getting up super quick to make ds's ready brek in a hurry for him!

3flightsofstairs · 15/02/2007 10:46

Hi everyone, just back from hol, can't believe how chatty it is! We went to NZ to see my sister for her 40th birthday and had a greattime. Hired a campervan and went driving through the north island - thinking that we won't be going there with 2 kids so it was now or never! And managed to get an ear infection and ruptured eardrum before we went - I think I have too much mucus and it's travelling everywhere
No news really other than DS getting up at 3am convinced it's morning and we have 4 appts in the next 2 weeks for scans, consultant appt, c-section chat and another mw appt. Blimey!
Hope you're blooming and well and I'm off to catch up a bit...

I horrified dp recently by telling him that i wasnt sure but I may have done a tiny wee when squatting to unload the dishwasher and sneezing at the same time, I think he was most horrified because i wasnt sure if it was wee or not! I dont know about a melon but def feel some kind of tightness in my vagina sometimes when I wee, quite a worry given i am going to have to push a baby out!

Miaou - your poor ds - little britain writers would love that story! Hope your morning sickness passes soon.

pookey · 15/02/2007 23:23

Oh on the breastfeeding while pregnant, def had an impact for me cos my morning sickness passed once i stopped breastfeeding ds, I was surprised at the time when people said being pregnant and breastfeeding was a lot for my body to cope with but clearly it was.
