Anybody ever used cozy cocoon??

kittywaitsfornumber6 · 10/03/2007 18:14

Emmyb hello, just crashing from the due in March thread as I saw this. I used cozy cocoons with my last baby. They are so, so wonderful, can't recommend them hightly enough. Any questions do pop over and ask

Emmyb, no they don't ride up over the face. They come in different sizes. I got my first one (newborn size) from ebay for £2.00!! I was so impressed at how much it calmed the baby that I ordered a few of the next size up from the American website. Ordering from this rather than the English one actually worked out cheaper and that's including p&p and any import duties!!

madmumNika · 10/03/2007 21:00

EmmyB, please don't worry, I had to come back for another scan with DS after our first anomaly scan, simply because he was lying in a way that didn't allow the sonographer to see all the chambers of his heart that they have to 'tick off'. When I went back DS still wasn't being cooperative so they had to 'manipulate' (ie. push) my tummy about until he rolled over! They had about 30 secs before he decided to move back to where he was comfy!! LOL
And I'm not (well, wasn't!) overweight so I don't think it has anything to do with that- please don't worry! Big hugs xxx

madmumNika · 10/03/2007 21:03

Oops meant to address the last message to Bubble!! Sorry EmmyB! My brain doesn't work any more! But going to look up cosy cocoons now!

pookey · 10/03/2007 22:42

welcome MrsWaggsnapps. Baysmum I am so glad your mind has been set to ease and sorry that you have been worried the past weeks.

DP always says I am a punter and its true - I am going to look up cosy cocoons too!

My friend has loaned me a moses basket she has never used and it really freaked me out seeing it in the house - it is just so cute and newborney and the first thing we have got/been given for this one. Dp also felt a kick today so its all getting real!

Anyone else really big yet? I am already having people I dont know ask me when I am due and i feel embarrased when i say I have 4 months to go and make excuses. My maternity tops are filled and one (size L) is beg to ride up desp only gaining back weight I lost at the beg of pg .

I have heartburn again yuk. App posture is a big cause and my posture is awful so I guess I will have to really make an effort not to slouch. Any other tips?

pookey · 10/03/2007 22:48

Emmyb what have you heard about cosy cocoons - they dont look all that cosy?

emmyb · 11/03/2007 07:02

Ive not heard much about cozy cocoons. i just came across them on internet and thought they looked quite good.

pookey I know what you mean about telling people when youre due. I feel like they look as if to say OMG it looks like its due anytime!!

really getting the urge to buy things for babs now. i got all DD newborn/small cloths out of the loft, thinking I would have bought a lot of neutrals. I was wrong, I didnt know she had worn so much pink!! Going to have to buy more than I thought!!

bubble78 · 11/03/2007 14:47

Kyte unless it was really hot I would expect a newborn to wear some clothes and have at least a sheet. However DS was a premmie so the advice given was different to normal newborns! DS normally had at least a vest and a sheet on, though I do remember it being so hot once that he only wore a nappy and slept on a futon as it was cooler closer to the floor!

abgirl · 12/03/2007 08:47

jojo maman bebe sell a swaddling blanket that is similar to a cozy cocoon - i bought one on saturday!

Miaou · 12/03/2007 08:54

Kyte, ds was born on 1st August two years ago and generally slept in a vest, light babygro and was swaddled in a thin cellular blanket. However I live in Scotland (West coast) where it is not as hot as "dahn saath" so maybe that's not a good indicator!!

twoplusone · 12/03/2007 09:18

Hi all..
Kyte we moved to Cyprus when DS was 8weeks old in August, so you can imagine how hot it was.. i used to sleep him in a nappy and thin blankets..sometimes a vest... though before we moved, when we were still in the UK .. in Aldershot.. I used thin cotton vest and babygrows with a cellular blanket. (he was a June baby)
MrsWaggsnapps-welcome.. glad your scan went well, and congrats on your little girl..

I am impartial now to finding out the sex part of me wants to wait till the end.. but DH really wantds to know.. he wont book in for the snipuntil we find out as he wants a girl!!! I have told him I dont really want to have another.. but if he really wants to then it has to be straight away!!!OMG I must be mad.. personally I think three is enough.. !!!

twoplusone, I have the dubious pleasure of living in Aldershot! Do you miss it? Hmm, Aldershot or Cyprus, I know which one I'd prefer!

madmumNika · 12/03/2007 11:02

Good morning all, the sun is shining, we are all finally over tummy bugs & ear infections (miserable week last week) and just been for a big walk on the beach with the dog (hmmm meant to be working straight after I dropped DS into nursery but just couldn't resist!)

So life was feeling great until I had a call from the hospital reminding me I have my first uterine artery doppler scan. I am also meant to have my 'big' anomaly scan too straight after, but now they say the waiting list for that is possibly another 3 weeks!! For some reason I'm really disappointed as so wanted to see LO again! Anyone know if they can take a quick peek at the baby when doing the doppler scan? Also getting a bit nervous about the doppler scan ... Please tell me everything will be fine?!

With DS, who was also prem, he slept in a cotton vest & light cotton babygrow, and a couple of light cotton blankets. But it doesn't get very warm over here (Northern Ireland)! When it got really got he would just sleep in vest but still had a sheet over him which I would swaddle him with. He ended up in bed with us rather a lot (I know, v contentious!) so we just had a sheet and very light blanket on our bed (definitely no duvet), and DS would be just in a vest those nights.

Hope you are all well, hugs to everyone xx

Myfairone · 12/03/2007 11:24

Morning all! Lovely sunny day we have here 'down south

I have my 20 week scan tomorrow! Very excited to see my little gymnast (I think it has learnt to sumersault!) and also very nervous....Seems to be a natural thing. DH definitely doesnt want to find out the sex and I wasnt bothered up until today. Im now starting to wonder if it would be possible for me to keep a 20 week secret! Im thinking not!

As for the 'how big are you?' question. My bump is really sticking out now. I saw the midwife on Friday and she said my hips are very slim so the bump can only go one way and thats OUT!

DH is dragging his feet with the baby name book and does not want to see my list until he has looked at it! grrrrrr..

Hope you all feel well today and are enjoying whatever you are doing!
Big hugs

abgirl · 12/03/2007 11:35

mmnika, I saw DS when I had a doppler scan with him so am expecting to see baby when I have mine next Monday - I think they would probably use it as an opportunity to check growth anyway. How's your BP doing? Mine was 132/74 last monday so not too bad atm.

abgirl · 12/03/2007 11:41

mmnika, sorry also meant to say that am fully expecting to hear that the doppler is inconclusive - will be extremely surprised if they go as far as saying that everything looks good atm. If there are concerns will try and take it as it comes, though may ask to be signed off work if I am going to be having even more ante-natal checks. Otherwise am trying to stay relaxed as I feel quite well and don't seem to have any swelling yet - with DS couldn't wear my wedding ring by this point!

madmumNika · 12/03/2007 11:58

Abgirl, you are a star, feeling much more relieved now! They had warned me that often doppler scans are inconclusive and not to worry, but I'm sure it's going to be hard not to! I never had any doppler scans with DS as HELLP syndrome developed v quickly and they hadn't suspected PE (thought I had gallstones, then obstetric cholestasis at first!). It's good to know I should see LO when they do it! They did mention doing growth scans also so it will be great if they do both on Thursday!

All going well so far- like you said no swelling of note yet, can still wear all my rings and indeed with DS I couldn't from about 22 weeks..but only 21 weeks now so fingers crossed swelling stays away!! BP was 135/70 2 weeks ago, which I'm happy with! They don't think BP for me was a good indicator of PE, but I still like to have it watched just in case!! Have you got the protein dipsticks yet? Picking mine up this afternoon, will have to resist becoming obsessive testing my wee!!

Hope things stay settled for you & let us know how you get on next Monday! xxx
