great news scandi!

So sick today. Found out one of my colleagues at work is pregnant - she breezed through the first tri with no symptoms Envy

I thought we would have a girl last time but had a boy. I thought I'd feel strongly that I wanted a girl this time to 'complete the set' but I actually don't think I mind at all, another boy would be just lovely too. We didn't find out until the birth this time but wonder whether to do so this time - practicalities of whether to keep non-unisex clothes, and whether it'd be easier for DS to know in advance whether he is getting a brother or sister. I would say the surprise was nice last time but I was so out of it I have zero recollection of finding out the sex! Shock

finova · 07/09/2016 17:41

theknittinggorilla my serenity test is on the 24th too. I'll be 11 +4 I think. Are you finding out the sex? I am....think it'll be DS3 but we could be surprised.

Had my booking in and have a referral to Birth Matters to discuss one of my previous births and plan this one. They do the appt half way through and I think it'll be really helpful.

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 17:45

finova keeping it a surprise but also think it will be ds3!

sarahhh1984 · 07/09/2016 18:12

Ditto on the sharp tastes marmite and Shark - particularly citrus fruits, juices and flavourings!

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 18:17

Thank you whoever suggested Lemon and water. I've had a cool refreshing sparkling water and lemon and a hot lemon which worked much better than coffee is these days!

Cazbg · 07/09/2016 18:45

Had a lovely scan this morning and saw a little beating heart of a 9wk2day bean, such a relief. So I am now trying to enjoy the fact I have no nausea and not as tired rather than worrying about it.

Had my midwife check in appt. seems ridiculous and a waste of time but they arrange a vbac discussion meeting for me to talk through with a midwife about all my options even though we know we def want a elc... Just seems a slight waste of resources.

So happy for you Scandi such a relief and quite nice that you get to see the bean again really soon. We are booked in for the 29th sept for ours.

Due date is said to b the 10th April x

Number4OnTheWay · 07/09/2016 19:39

Finova, I did a birth matters appointment when I was pregnant with my DS (although it was called something else) and it really helped, good luck and I hope you get lots after.

Who went to IKEA followed by a wonder round mammas a Pappas? (Was that this thread?) Was that in Bristol?

I caved and booked my booking in for tomorrow morning (have I already told you this? ConfusedBlush apologies if I have!) I'm hoping I can get them to refer me to the epau for a reassurance scan.
I've sent dh out for a KFC tonight. Really want the coleslaw and chicken. Hope he comes home with the right thing!

marmitecheesetoast · 07/09/2016 20:28

Glad you enjoyed it knittinggorilla! Grin

Oh my god yes sarah I've suddenly become addicted to grapefruits!! At least a healthy craving!

Congrats on the scan Cazbg!

ChatEnOeuf · 07/09/2016 20:35

Congrats on the good scan news Cazbag and Scandi.

Good news day here, too. Little bean is measuring nicely and HB fluttering away nicely. Told my dad and might just arrange a booking appt tomorrow. 12w scan will be on Oct 5th at 12+5.

Had some salt and vinegar crisps at 9am, they were delicious :)

No idea what this one is, I'll be delighted with an alive one. A little girl would theoretically have more outfits to choose from, but there's nothing wrong with a boy in lilac, right?

jpeg28 · 07/09/2016 20:43

Great news with all the scans!!

I don't think my OH believes how rough I feel! Maybe if I was actually sick he would! Feel a bit sorry for him... Every night in just on the sofa useless and have no interest in dtd whatsoever!!!

SharkBastard · 07/09/2016 21:10

Congrats on the scans ladies! Lovely seeing the good news

I'm the same Jpeg, come 7pm I plunge into horrific nausea (I'm there at the moment) and just die quietly on the sofa. Thankfully DH has no interested in dtd with his sick wife haha poor sod!

MumiTravels · 07/09/2016 21:22

Another day in NHS paradise and I'm pooped. All I can think about is fried bread. I had a grand total of 15 minutes break on a 13 hour shift today. Two crumpets and a packet of quavers all day. I hope the ward settles down a bit or I'll struggle. It's just chaos.

I've got a little pot belly by the end of the day. Think one of the care staff clocked on this morning as we were doing alot of bed mobililty and I made sure there were two of us for everything.

I'd have a wine if I wasn't pregnant. Lemon squash it is.

Bubbinsmakesthree · 07/09/2016 22:42

Oh my goodness Mumi I don't know how you can cope with an active job. I barely got through a day in the office today - if it wasn't pregnancy related I'd have come home sick, but knowing I could have weeks of this I feel like there's no choice but to soldier on.

Went for dinner with DH (we've got a free babysitter whilst his niece is staying with us). Thought I'd be fine after having something to eat but I've just been really sick again. This is so much worse than my first pregnancy!

MrsRhubarb · 08/09/2016 00:43

Number4 that was me, but it was Ikea Nottingham! You've got me thinking about a boneless bucket now, mmmmmmm.

Just got home from a twilight shift, and the smell of whatever DH cooked for tea is lingering and making me feel as queasy as hell. I am so pleased I am a part-timer these days, and don't have twelve and a half hour days like last pregnancy. They were a killer. I feel for all of you who are suffering through that.

Congrats Chat! Great news!

I definitely will find out the sex before, I'm too impatient. I figure it's a surprise whichever way, as you don't know before and then you do. But mostly I just really want to know.

hummingbird100 · 08/09/2016 06:33

cazbg that's my birthday! Great day to be bornSmile congrats on the scan!

I'm 7 weeks today going by my early scan last week. Lots of nausea and throwing up from 4:30am every morning now, then another nausea surge hits mid-morning and another one about 9:30pm. I have to eat continually, whoever mentioned KFC has got me wanting one now. I could probably eat one for breakfast!

hummingbird100 · 08/09/2016 06:34

And lovely news to you too chat. My little boy loves pink and purple! Grin

jpeg28 · 08/09/2016 06:51

Mumi that sounds awful!!! Will you be able to have more breaks when you get further along?? You must be exhausted!!

I've been having two good days followed by two bad... Fingers x the pattern sticks as the kids are back to school today... 2500 teenagers might just kill me!! Not that I have to teach them all!

Celen · 08/09/2016 07:05

Mumi that sounds hideous, is there anyway you can have a large meal before you start your shift to help sustain you? Or grab some breakfast bars to eat on the go?

Celen · 08/09/2016 07:07

I had a really long and vivid dream last night that I went into hospital and gave birth to a little girl - it was so cool Grin

MumiTravels · 08/09/2016 08:11

It's just hard when the bells are ringing and everyone wants commodes and bedpans to just walk away, it never feels right. As I get further along though I'll just have to walk away or I'll end up like my last pregnancy where I started fainting at work. Which doesn't help anyone. I even had a student working along side me yesterday and it was still chaos with two of us. She was on the ball though which takes some of the pressure off.

It's hard to have a meal before I leave as I leave at 6.20am and it's just too early to stomach a meal. I just have to suck mint imperials all the way to work to not feel queasy. I then get in about 20.40 and I find it too late to have a meal.

Will just have to see how it goes. Work has just been shit all round lately. I had to fail a student nurse for the first time in 5 years too this week. She hates me. I had major concerns though and so did my colleagues. I should have worked at Aldi Grin

Bubbinsmakesthree · 08/09/2016 08:32

However sick I'm feeling I am just thankful for the fact I am not a teacher or healthcare professional right now Shock. Hats off to you all!

hummingbird100 · 08/09/2016 09:19

I agree bubbins, massive respect to all nurses and teachers!

Helbelle75 · 08/09/2016 09:30

I don't know how you do it mumi, you must be wiped out.
I had a full teaching day yesterday, and arrived home, ate tea (made by my awesome DH) and flaked out, and I'd only done an 8 hour day.
Fortunately my sickness kicks in about 9pm, so coping ok with that, but I have told a few key people at school who I know will keep an eye on me and help me out if I need it.
I have my MW appointment this afternoon, so looking forward to that. I think I might book a private scan in for next week or the week after, even if it means travelling a little further.

everdene · 08/09/2016 09:34

So funny you mention looking over your shoulder at Mamas & Papas, I get that fleeting feeling when I wear my 'baby on board' badge on the tube!! Then I have to give my head a wobble and just think that if anyone noticed they probably wouldn't even think to tell anyone else!

Number4OnTheWay · 08/09/2016 11:29

I saw my midwife today and she sorted ne out an early scan for tomorrow morning :) feeling so relieved! She was lovely too, but she isn't stating :( there's another midwife that's taking over in the next couple of weeks. I feel so sad.

Did I mention that yesterday I burst into tears in boots as they didn't have a yorkie bar Blush Grin pregnancy hormones in full swing here!!!
