Good luck scandi!

Smells haven't really bothered me in the past but I can imagine soup in the morning is horrible. I was being sick at 5am, felt OK for cereal for breakfast at 7 and now I feel horribly queasy again now. Hope everyone had a restful night Smile

ScandiManny · 07/09/2016 08:32

Yes Puggle 12 week scan. I'm fairly sure I'm 10+5 today though from ov dates but midwife insisted on using lmp date which puts me at 12+1 today. Only 10 days difference so should be okay I guess although I think it might be a little early for NT measurement. We'll see anyway :)

summerskittles91 · 07/09/2016 10:46

Good luck for all of you with scans :) I have my 12 weeks scan in just under 2 weeks now.

I had a session of acupuncture yesterday - first time I've tried it, and have no nausea since! Don't want to jinx it but I think it's worked. Have another session this afternoon too.

ScandiManny · 07/09/2016 11:17

So so relieved! We have a perfect wiggly baby, with a strong little heart beating away. Measuring 10+6 so almost spot on for my dates although as I suspected we do have to go back 2 weeks today for NT measurement. The difference from the scan at 8 weeks is unbelievable. He's (I'm sure it's a boy) got long legs and everything. Amazing!

Omg. We're actually having a baby! Grin

Puggleface · 07/09/2016 11:21

Ohhhh I swear acupuncture got me pregnant! We'd been trying for 6 months. I was having acupuncture before I got pregnant with DS for general well being and stress reduction so I thought I'd give it another go and fell pregnant straight away. I also find it helps with my nausea for a few days but it's swings and roundabouts with me! Big fan over here! I've recommended to another friend who is aslo TTC so i really hope it works for her too - if it does then i'm totally sold on it!

Puggleface · 07/09/2016 11:24

Oh thats wonderful news scandi so so pleased for you!! and you get to see 'him' again in a few weeks! yay!

IAmALionTamer · 07/09/2016 11:29

Oh scandi that's such great news!
Does anyone else have any feelings about what sex their baby will be? Any guy feelings?
Last time I was absolutely convinced I was having a girl but I had a boy.

IAmALionTamer · 07/09/2016 11:30

*gut feelings

jobrum · 07/09/2016 11:30

welshy my symptoms come and go. Sometimes I don't feel sick at all and I don't get sore breasts which is good. Then the sickness returns...

I can't find anything I want to eat. I can't stand thinking about vegetables. Love fruit juice but its giving me heart burn. I am vetter at preparing food for my dd as ai know I don't have to eat it. I'm eating ready salted crisps at work and they are just lovely.

jobrum · 07/09/2016 11:33

Acupuncture really helped my migraines last pregnancy. I still had them but they were not as intense. I'm going again next week in the hope she can stop me feeling sick too!

choccybiscuit · 07/09/2016 11:43

Finding it almost impossible to keep up with this thread! Just want to say I'm so pleased for all the ladies who had their scans and good luck to all those who are still waiting for theirs. My fingers are crossed for you.
I'm 8+4 and sickness well and truly kicked in. It been worse in the evening mostly but today is the first day I've had it in the morning. Am currently eating marmite sandwiches to combat the nausea Sad

jobrum · 07/09/2016 11:50

Lovely news scandi!

iam we have a girl and as much as I'd like to use some of the lovely clothes again, I'd quite like a boy this time. Last time we didn't know the sex (as dd was in such an awkward position at the scan) but she felt like a girl, I knew she was. I wasn't surprised when she was born.

TopKittyKat · 07/09/2016 13:02

Congratulations Scandi - that's great news. It must be so lovely seeing the baby on the scan. I can't wait for my 12 week scan. Just another 3.5 weeks to go Smile

So - quick survey. How much are you all drinking? I just can't seem to get through enough. I'm on my 4th pint plus I had a glass of milk at breakfast.

I was drinking lemonade to help with the nausea but am trying to stick to weak squash now (it was getting a bit out of hand).

I just wondered how this compared?

sarahhh1984 · 07/09/2016 13:14

Scandi, that's wonderful news!

I waver when it comes to the sex. Some days I'm convinced it's a boy and other days I'm sure it's a girl. Will just have to wait and see - waiting until they're born to find out.

I'm drinking loads. Already had two pints of water, a cup of tea and a ginger tea. Just working on third pint of water now! Also been eating lots of "hydrating" fruits like apples!

marmitecheesetoast · 07/09/2016 13:44

Congrats on the scan Scandi!

Sorry to all those struggling with sickness and generally feeling urgh. I hear ya! Off work today with an absolute stonking cold and sore throat which on top of preggo nausea and exhaustion and lack of ability to medicate is pretty grim all round. Had 4 nose bleeds in 12 hours which freaked me out a bit but apparently can be a common pregnancy symptom and I guess when coupled with all the sneezing and nose blowing it can't help.

I've also been fancying lots of hydrating fruits sarah - melon is my current favourite!

Have you tried mixing it up with a different drink each time topkitty? I've found I'm quite enjoying sparkling water with loads of fresh lemon or lime added and also quite 'sour' sparkling drinks like Bundaberg blood orange or Schwepps pink grapefruit.

SharkBastard · 07/09/2016 14:01

I can't get enough water but it's really bloating me now :( might try the sparkling water and lemon. I like sharp tastes at the moment.

Off to MW in 2 hours...will see what the procedure for scans are etc

TopKittyKat · 07/09/2016 14:19

I think I'll have to ask DH to get me some sparkly water and see if that works.

Unfortunately I can't stomach fruit at the moment.

That doesn't sound fun marmite. Take care of yourself!

Good luck at the midwife appt shark

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 15:07

More lovely scan news Smile

I still don't have a nhs scan date and cannot face another minimum 4 weeks trying to hide my constant nausea and huge bloated stomach, particularly at work, so I have booked a Serenity test at 10 weeks. So I have a scan on 24th September which is only 17 days away, whoop. Feel better now I actually have something in the diary. We have a big family wedding at the end of the month too and really wanted to have had a scan by then so I can relax and not bother trying to hide it. Have booking on on Wednesday next week too. Time is going very slowly.

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 15:09

Oh and yes to being unbelievably thirsty all the time, and nothing seems to quench it. Have been drinking fizzy water but might try putting some lemon in it to make it a bit more interesting.

Have also managed to find a yoga and Pilates class who will take pregnant women right from the start of pregnancy so am going to start that next week and try and head off any back problems from the off!

marmitecheesetoast · 07/09/2016 15:24

I can't get enough of sharp tastes either Shark wonder why? Salt and vinegar crisps, massive bowls of lettuce and pickles with lashings of mustardy french dressing, sucking lemons out of my water glass...Hmm
Hope your appointment goes well.

That's good you have something to work towards knittinggorilla I think it definitely helps. Will you tell work after 10 week scan? I've three weeks to 12 week scan... can't decide if I can wait to tell work much longer.

Great news about the pilates class. All the ones I've found local to me have been for 12+ weeks. I went back to my usual class last week for the first time since finding out I was pregnant and just told the teacher and took it easy. It was fine and I was glad I went back but did find I was a bit nervous about doing anything I shouldn't.

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 15:57

I think so marmite. I actually told my boss at 7 weeks last time as he was making a decision about my team and I felt he needed that information to make the right decision. But I would rather have the comfort of a scan first and certainly before telling anyone else. I think I would tell key people after scan if all is well and friends.
The yoga/Pilates teacher I spoke too was so good, everywhere else said wait to 14 weeks but she is very experienced and has had lots of prenatal and postnatal women in her classes. She said she will adapt the class for me and make sure it's all safe. It's quite important to me to get started as my back is already sore and I really suffered when pregnant with ds2. Can't face that again plus two children to lug around!

Theknittinggorilla · 07/09/2016 15:57

To not too, aargh.

jpeg28 · 07/09/2016 16:32

Sussexteacher... Yes secondary, in Sussex too! I'm actually really struggling. I normal work non stop from 7-6 and I just don't have the energy. Still ok in mornings but by 1 I'm dead! Haven't even taught any lessons yet. I'm contemplating telling someone but I've just signed up for a senior leadership course which the school are paying for so don't want to be pulled from it!!
It's my first child too and first in both our families so I'll have no idea!!

Amazing news you saw heartbeats abacha and Twins too!!! So exciting

abeandhalo I feel like that all day... Ginger biscuits are my new fave and plain breadsticks.

Great news scandi!

Sorry if I've missed anyone... This thread moves so fast!!

MrsRhubarb · 07/09/2016 16:55

Wonderful news Scandi!

I got a new laptop today, as my rather old one finally gave up on life. Turns out I can't remember any of my passwords so I've spent the day resetting them for everything just so I can do basic stuff. Blergh. It's distracted me from nausea though! A friend sent me some sea bands she used in pregnancy to see if they help with sickness, fingers crossed.

We took a trip to Ikea the other day, so we made the most of it by wandering around the nearby Mamas & Papas without looking over my shoulder for anyone I know, worried I would have to explain why I was looking at bedside cribs when I have an almost three year old!

abeandhalo · 07/09/2016 17:06

I told my bosses yesterday even though I'm only about 9 or 10 weeks b/c we've got 4 show homes to furnish in the next month and I can't do any of the heavy lifting like I normally do, so I had to give them enough notice to get some extra labour in. They know I'm not properly telling work / HR for another couple of weeks so hopefully they'll keep it to themselves.

Finally not feeling sick but still can't work out what I can stomach for dinner even though we've got plenty of food in! Hmm
