Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Congrats Miley!! Welcome Harrison! X

IndiX · 12/09/2016 16:45

Potato I'm so jealous of baby cuddles, I can't wait to have my own little squidgy snuggle buddy!

Just been looking at the list and I can't believe there's only 2/3 babies due ahead of mineShock I take it that Mor/Taz would've had theirs by now and most probably DrWhy unless she's gone over. I'm really having a day of realisation today that I actually haven't got that long leftGrin

How many sleepsuits and vests do you think I should pack for a 2 night stay in hospital? Also where did you find good maternity bras? I'm currently making shopping lists for my hospital bag

Newmrs22 · 12/09/2016 17:06

Congratulations Miley totally missed it earlier Blush

marmitecheesetoast · 12/09/2016 17:40

Congratulations Miley! Welcome to the world baby Harrison!!

LillianFullStop · 12/09/2016 17:41

canters I support the new handbag purchase - I'm a firm believer in the value of anything that can be used both pre and post baby Smile

I know what you mean indi - the scales are starting to tip. Especially since miley an October mummy has already given birth! My stomach is definitely feeling heavier today - I'll need to start wearing the belly band a friend lent to me otherwise I'm going to have to walk around holding my bump up!

hospital bag I have 5 vests and 5 sleep suits and 1 going home outfit. They will apparently leak and puke a lot! Also a midwife said to bring extra hats because they don't bathe baby right away and so the hats would get vernix from baby's skin.

I picked up a couple of Emma Jane sleep nursing bras (unstructured camisole style) and I am loving the Bravado maternity bras for under clothes as it holds a nice shape even without the underwire.

leoniethelioness · 12/09/2016 17:52

I have a couple of nursing bras from M and S. Emergency purchase as hadn't got any before baby born. They're fine. Gone from a B to a DD though! 🙈🙈🙈

PotatosMum · 12/09/2016 18:18

Indi yep, you'll be popping before you know it Grin I'd do 4 sleep suits and 4 vests. You're unlikely to use more than 2 but you want to prepare for leakages.

Lillian regarding hats... Babies absolutely hate them so you're unlikely to get baby to wear them long Wink

We just finished reading our first book and Arya actually showed interest in it which is the first time she's shown any passing interest in an inanimate object other than her dummy. She's obviously going to be a book worm like her mummy Grinit also made her sleepy which was a bonus... Until I sneezed and scared the crap out of her Shock

Omg she's so cute potato! Would you recommend one of those chairs she's in? Is it one of the rocking/musical ones? I don't know whether to get one

LillianFullStop · 12/09/2016 18:31

woah leonie B to a DD!? that's impressive!

oh dear potato what will I do with these hats I've bought?? hope she will at least wear it on her way home.

look at little Arya she is so adorable and looking so cuddly. which bouncer is that? a friend recommended the baby bjorn but it doesn't look soft and cushioned.

PotatosMum · 12/09/2016 20:24

It's a comfort harmony bouncer from mothercare. If I'm honest my choice was mostly down to it being half price in the sale and looking cute.
They are handy to have as somewhere other than a crib/basket for baby and Arya seems to like the vibrate. I don't think I would bother getting a expensive one as Arya isn't crazy about it but that might change as she gets a bit older and can see better, right now she just sits there looking baffled.

Mileymoocow · 12/09/2016 20:58

Thanks all, I can't stop looking at him ❤ so far so good.

indi I'd say about 6 of each going off our ever growing pile of washing!

soda I was 36+2

Labour story is a pretty boring one. Started having a trickle of what I thought was discharge so been wearing pads. Went for a wee at 8pm last night and pad was saturated with blood, midwife told me to go in. Thought it was a UTI but had an internal swab for amniotic fluid and turns out water's had gone over the course of 2 days. Had a pessary at midnight to try to start contractions with the idea that I'd be put on a drip to speed them up 6 hours later. 6am I started contracting so no need for drip! Had some iv antibiotics and by 7.45 I was 4cm dilated. Had only paracetamol and codeine but knew I was getting more dilated due to pain so re examined at 8.30 - I was 8cm! Put on gas and air and by 10.24 Harrison was here!!! I had a small 2nd degree tear and bled a lot for about 6 hours but am recovering well just a little tender.

LisaTheSimpson · 12/09/2016 21:03

Awww, Miley, he's so lovely!

Sounds like it all happened so quickly - glad to hear you're ok and Harrison is doing well.

I think I've got the same blanket as you - Sainsbury's? If so, is it SO soft and lovely!

BunchOfBobs · 12/09/2016 21:03

Oh wow look at that hair. Well done Miley. Any idea when you'll be able to go home yet? How's the feeding going?

Pyxie · 12/09/2016 21:33

Aww Miley he's beautiful, I'm amazed at his hair! Sounds like you did an amazing job, hope you both get to go home soon.

leoniethelioness · 12/09/2016 21:35

Look at that hair, Miley! I'm guessing you're in for a few days because you had antibiotics?

Danni89 · 12/09/2016 21:38

Well done miley.. Look at all that hair!! Can't believe you lasted that long without gas an air! Trooper!

LillianFullStop · 12/09/2016 21:51

Oh he's gorgeous and so much hair! you sound like you did really well in labour miley and glad not too slow for a first baby. congratulations I hope you both get to go home soon StarStarStar

Mileymoocow · 12/09/2016 22:30

lisa I think it's from asda, it says something like 'I am little'. Not that he needs it because the ward is baking hot!

bunch and leonie hopefully home tomorrow. It's protocol with a preemie to be monitored for 24 hours but both me and little man are doing fine I think! Not too sure about the feeding - he was on the boob at mid day for a good hour and a half, tried him at 3 but wouldn't latch, tried him at 5 he latched but wouldn't suck so I hand expressed .5ml which he took straight away. He then fed again at 8 for about 25 mins. Midwife doesn't seem to think that its bad going so I guess I'll just stick to trying him every few hours.

Thanks danni pyxie and lillian! Grin midwife seemed oh so impressed, I didn't feel like I was doing particularly well at all but I'm quite proud I managed it. It's so cliché but I've already forgotten all about the pain - he is just so bloody gorgeous I'm 100% head over heels for him

Mileymoocow · 12/09/2016 22:50

Oh and also - my midwife mentioned today (though absolutely no scientific evidence at all) that they have all noticed blood group A+ tend to labour faster

IrregularCommentary · 12/09/2016 23:06

Congratulations Miley! You really were determined to keep our synchronised timings going weren't you! He's gorgeous, so glad you're both doing so well.

Tam's brilliant. Very froggy legged as she's been breech the whole pregnancy we now think, but hopefully they'll straighten on their own. She's started taking the boob properly now, which is great. Very reassuring.

I'm recovering well, just need some sleep now, which I'm struggling with in hospital. Really want to go home now!

Sorry, not had time to catch up properly, so hope everyone else is doing well.

Oh, and meet little Tam xx

Oh Miley he's adorable and look at all that hair! Glad the birth wasn't too traumatic and you're both doing well. Welcome to mummy hood.Grin

Irregular glad to hear you and Tam are doing well Smile she's so cute!

I have just quite frankly had the shit scared out of me... OH and I were just on the verge of getting back to sleep when there was a very loud and prolonged banging sound. It sounded like someone using a hammer on an internal wall. Cue both OH and I running around the house checking doors etc. We have no idea what it was. But I'm now lead in bed imagining everything from murderers at our door to poltergeist Confused
In reality it was probably someone next door although what the hell they could have been doing I have no flipping clue!
Freaked out!!! Blush

Sodasoda · 13/09/2016 04:48

Trying to catch up while feeding.

Huge congratulations miley! What a gorgeous little boy! Did you have any inkling he was a boy? I was convinced Alexa was a boy and was really surprised when 'it's a girl' was shouted in the delivery room!

The MW came yesterday and was really reassuring so I feel better about things. It seems like my milk is coming in and I've got a breast feeding HV popping over today to check things over and help with positions etc.

Thanks for reassurance re tears. I'm not usually a tearful person, bloody hormones!

Nursing bras - i got some bravado ones on friends advice and am loving them so far - really comfy.

I had 3 vests / sleep suits at hospital and only needed 2 but was only there with Alexa for one night.

Canters re bump dropping - I don't think mine ever did! I had a MW appt on the Monday and baby was 2/5 engaged and it looked as though nothing was imminent but my waters broke on the Wednesday! Even during labour baby's head wasn't all the way engaged (until the end obviously!) so I don't think you can always tell.

Gorgeous pics irregular and potato

Hope everyone is doing well xx

PotatosMum · 13/09/2016 07:48

Soda glad the midwife went well.

So glad I changed Arya to aptimal. Last night she fed at 9pm woke at 2am and didn't wake again until 6:30! Best nights sleep yet and she's already back to snoozing peacefully Smile

Still have no idea what the noise at 3am was. It sounded a bit like next door hammering a nail into the wall. It's a shame really. The first night Arya only wakes once and I'm too freaked out to sleep Sad
