Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Welcome drink nice to see you over here!

I've had a shocking day for injury and whatnot! Seem to have trapped a nerve in my bum cheek, was at a church coffee morning and didn't want to seem lazy so stood up all afternoon and my back has sized up, came home, must have eaten something that disagreed with me/had a germ because I spewed for an hour and then felt slightly off colour. And now I've just stood on the dog bone and it pierced my tender, sore, slightly throbbing footsie! Ouch! I feel like the universe is telling me I need to get a tetanus jab! Just call me accident prone Annie! Grin

Welcome drink!

Potato sorry this has to be happening this week of all weeks. Remember your number one priority right now is you and Arya.

audrey what in the world!? Tell the universe to FRO! hope you're now in the safety of your bedroom and the universe can't do any more harm today. what a crazy day for you.

Feefeefs · 25/08/2016 23:39

Welcome drink congratulations.

My nipples have started leaking at night- freaked me right out!

Also sorry TMI but getting lots of mucous-y snot like discharge this evening? Normal or losing bits of plug?! Only 24+4 so freaking out a little but I'm sure someone said it's no concern before it'll just grow back. Or is it just normal discharge?

shelbTa · 26/08/2016 05:11

Morning (or is it still night?!)

Feef - think that was what miley was having (possible show) - I'd ring the midwife just to be sure.

Aww potato Flowers just to echo what everyone else has said really, I wouldn't go see your mum. Look after yourself - particularly this stage after birth where hormones are on a serious rollercoaster (or so they said at nct).

Welcome drink!

Nice evening and 4am ritual of false labour for me! Currently sat in nursery with night light on waiting for back pain to subside, impossible to stay in bed.

X

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 08:05

feef mine was jelly-like lumps - clear/very very slightly tinged with yellow. I called my midwife and she didn't seem worried at all Smile sure you'll be OK but call for reassurance if you feel worried.

drink hi! Great to see you here Grin hope you're doing well so far.

potato just to echo what others say, definitely time to put yourself and arya first.

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 08:06

shelb fingers crossed baby comes soon! You're having a pretty rough time of it .

Feefeefs · 26/08/2016 08:10

Hope labour comes soon shelbta.

I agree with what others have said potato re taking a break from your mum, are siblings being any more helpful??

Miley mine is not really jelly like, I bit more like egg white cervical mucous(our old friend) but whiter. Not really sure who to phone? I have a number for maternity assessment and a number for community appointments?

Sodasoda · 26/08/2016 08:12

Morning all,

Bit late to roll call but here we go!
Soda age 33, 37+2, team vanilla. Feeling grumpy, hot and have size 17 elephant feet. 1 more week at work and then I'm starting 'operation get baby out'

Hi drink welcome

Potato that sounds so tough. I think you've just got to do what's best for you and Arya at the moment.

Feefs I've had leaky boobs for quite a few weeks and a LOT of CM (pantry liners all the way now), don't think it's necessarily your mucus plug.

So glad it's Friday, team away day today so not in the office, and then driving up to Wales tonight for another wedding. Last weekend away, I'm refusing to budge after this one!

Planeteer · 26/08/2016 08:17

Morning,

Thanks for new thread Stardrey!

Planet, 30 with a 32+6 kickboxer known as Pancake.
CM central, hip pain, insomnia and a red-faced sweaty blob. Heatwave, bore off will you!! Also, my god the thigh chafing!! #delightful

Leonie how are you feeling this morning? Hope you managed to get some rest and that you're reunited with your gorgeous boy soon. What a roller coaster! You're doing brilliantly!

Potato go gentle with yourself. If you think seeing your mum with Arya will be too much for you, don't go. You need to put yourself and tiny one first. Big hugs!

Shelb your LO is being such a tease with all the false labour!! Hope things get going properly soon and you can ditch the 96,000 pineapples!

Welcome to the madness Drink!

leoniethelioness · 26/08/2016 08:31

I am behind on your news but I will catch up soon.

Thank you for your kind words yesterday. I was having a bit of a wobble! I have slept a bit and been to check on baby already. He is doing well. His blood sugar has improved so they can try to stop the tube feeds today and try him on formula top ups/colostrum. He's been having some colostrum alongside the formula that they recommended initially due to his low blood sugar after he was born. The midwife helped me to express in the night (1ml) and again this morning. I need to hand express in about three hours and then I can try using the pump.

It is 32 degrees in his incubator so he thinks he was born in Barbados. He is having phototherapy for jaundice. I think he is doing well.

Theodore will either be returned to me today or I will get my own room. I am the only one on the transitional ward with no baby. 😂

Sorry if I have repeated anything or missed anything out. I'm not sure who I've told what!

leoniethelioness · 26/08/2016 08:32

Oh, and he has been described as feisty by the neonatal unit staff and he seems to like it when I put my hands on his head and chest.

ElleSarcasmo · 26/08/2016 08:32

Morning all!

Thanks for new thread Audrey! Hope you're recovering from your day yesterday.

Elle, 35. 26+4 with vanilla baby.
I'm getting my glucose tolerance test results today-I'm quite nervous!

Theodore is just gorgeous Leonie! Hope you're feeling well today and that he's back in your arms.

Welcome and congratulations Drink!

Feefs I've got the leaky nips too. Lovely! First stretch marks too this week Sad which I'm bio oiling like a maniac!

Potato hugs. Hope it goes well today if you feel up to going to see your mum.

Canters that sounds fantastic re SG. If it's only for 2 years you can probably do it without coming out of your training programme-I would arrange a meeting with your head of school. You might be able to arrange extended mat leave, or a period of research OOP, or even get training in SG counted if you were hoping to work. How much longer in training do you have?

Shelb fx things are happening! More curry for breakfast?!

Pink I would feel the same. Hope things start happening for you soon. Has your new dress come yet?

May glad your OH is still in one piece! I'm imagining you must look stunning in your new dress Smile

Pinklily1 · 26/08/2016 08:34

I'm glad to hear Theodore is doing well Leonie. Hopefully you will be reunited today. How are you feeling?

He might find it a bit chilly when he comes out of his Caribbean like incubator Smile

ElleSarcasmo · 26/08/2016 08:35

Oh cross post Leonie! Glad Theodore is doing well. Don't they look cute with the little phototherapy sunglasses on? It must be so hard being apart. Hope its not for too much longer.

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 08:35

feef that sounds completely normal so I wouldn't worry about that. I've had an increase of CM from about 28ish weeks to the point I thought I'd pissed myself. The numbers to call should be in the front of your blue folder (hoping you have one, and that Scotland do things the same way!) But I just call the pregnancy assessment unit and speak to the on duty midwife there.

soda you're doing well. I'm only 34 weeks and I cannot be arsed to go anywhere! Hope you have a nice day with your team though.

planet glad it's not just me! I have the chafing problem, too. Hoping that's just water retention it's probably all cake and will disappear soon after baby is here.

leoniethelioness · 26/08/2016 08:35

I should introduce myself too: mum to one day old Theodore, my footling breech baby, who was born at 35w 1d by caesarean section after my waters broke in bed on Wednesday night. Counting down until I can cuddle and breastfeed him... 💕💕

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 08:43

Aw leonie I'm so glad he's doing well! It must be really tough.

Planeteer · 26/08/2016 09:07

Thanks for keeping us updated leonie. Thinking of you and Theodore loads! He is a total poppet by the way, well done you!

Miley definitely not just you. Am having to walk like some sort of extra in a bad Western film. Ow! Suspect cake probably to blame in my case though...

Feef definitely call if you're worried, but I've been getting a big increase in CM from about 26 weeks onwards. Sometimes white, sometimes creamy yellow, always pretty gross especially in this heat.

PotatosMum · 26/08/2016 09:24

Oh Leonie so glad little one is doing well. I hope you get him back today.

Thank you ladies, the mum thing is really getting me down. I am going to go today in the hope that it calms her down. If not then I'm going to cut contact to just phone calls. My sister is in Canada so can't really do anything but call mum up and tell her off, which she has done numerous times. Apparently mum is now horribly jealous of me because I have a nice house, a lovely OH and a new baby. She's also jealous of any time I spend with OH, of his family, my step kids, you name it she's decided to be jealous of it. She keeps demanding that I spend more time with her, that my visits should be no shorter than 2 hours that I should be going there much more often than once a week etc. And whenever I say I just can't she starts shouting at me that I'm a selfish b and I don't care about her and I stuck her in a care home and now I have everything and she has nothing. It's horrible to hear after years of me looking after her but it's also making me switch off. It sounds horrible but I just want it to go away, I have no desire to spend time with her and go through all this again (I've nursed her through 4 nervous breakdowns) I'd be quite happy to leave her in the care of her carers and walk away and I feel very guilty about that.
Anyway, if she upsets Arya today or does anything to make me question her safety, it will be a cold day in hell before I take her back in there. I've got carers who are going to sit with us, OH will be coming in too although mum freaked out every time I talk about visiting because she doesn't want OH to be there. Sod that. I'm trying not to be but I'm so angry with her for the way she's behaved.

Right, rant over. All else is good, Arya's perfect and actually let me get a bit more sleep last night. My blood pressure still seems to be high and I've got to see the dr today to get it checked and possibly have my meds adjusted. Also going to get a sling today hopefully so that I can potter around with Arya when she's being restless... I do struggle to put her down during the day, I just want to cuddle her all the time!

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 10:18

potato hopefully she settles down, I really feel for you - it's not an easy task looking after people with mental health issues. Especially not with a newborn! At least Arya is being good for you, she sounds like a dream!

Is anyone with backache taking anything for it? I really don't want to take tablets but the pain is awful and a hot water bottle isn't helping. Tried my birthing ball but that doesn't appear to have any effect either. Currently sitting at work contemplating leaving early because I can't bare the pain for another 4 hours. God knows how I'm going to manage another 3 weeks!

HepKestrel · 26/08/2016 10:55

miley
my midwife told me i was allowed to take paracetamol

a friend also swears by tens machines, if you want a non-drug option.

mayago · 26/08/2016 11:11

Ooh, shiny new thread! Thanks Stardrey (and Potato for the previous ones)

I'm May, 34. 21+1 with a newly-found-out-team-pink baby. No nickname, although mine is now 'my girls' when OH is referring to me. I've been called worse Grin

OH is treating me to a week in Tenerife for my birthday next week Pink. And nice thought Elle but I looked like a whale in that maxi dress! And it was tight. I've bought a maternity wardrobe and am starting to think I'm going to have to go up a size soon enough.

Pink I can understand you feeling miserable, and a little jealous of your friend. If you've ever watched Friends it reminds me of when Rachel was waiting to have her baby, and seeing loads of women come in and give birth before she had her turn! I can't imagine what it's like to be full term, but I'm guessing comfortable wouldn't be one of the descriptive words..

Potato I'm not sure what advice I can give. I will be like your sister in coming years, as my mother is in Canada and starting to decline. My sister, thankfully, lives nearer, and will probably bear most of the carer role with my dad. It is a lot to take on, and with Arya so new I'd be tempted to stay in your nest for a while yet and focus on the bond with your lovely daughter. Unless you can guarantee your mum will be receptive and in a good mood for your visit it would be more stress for me than it's worth. If you feel like you have to go, taking your OH is a fantastic idea - you may be thankful for the support.

Bunch you're already some sort of super mom! I hope you're not being too hard on yourself about the antibiotics. It's not like you've chosen to have them, or that they're unnecessary! Atticus needs you to be healthy and well, and any discomfort he goes through will be temporary Flowers

Welcome drink, and congratulations!

Stardrey has your last injury healed yet? You're having a bit of a time lately. Is it worth having a tetanus jab? Hope you're feeling less Annie like today.

Feef did you get any advice? I had a clump like that this week, but as it wasn't bloody and didn't look abnormal I shrugged it off. I'm sure I read somewhere the mucus plug does regenerate throughout the pregnancy. I made the mistake of buying all black comfy undies to use while pregnant. Ugh.

Aw, Shelb. Is there anything you can do to get more comfortable? Do you have a ball to rock on? Fingers crossed baby makes an appearance soon.

Soda the end is in sight! Hope you enjoy your weekend away. It's a special one if it's the last for some time Smile

Planet it's been rather cool here. I think we had a day of heat wave on Tuesday?

leonie I'm glad to hear you and little Theo are doing well. He is a cutie! I hope he is returned to you today!

Elle hope you get the thumbs up on the glucose test!

Miley have you tried paracetamol? It normally wouldn't touch any aches and pains I have, but I've found that half a dose works fairly well these days. I have tried laying on a hard surface for 5 minutes, but not sure that's comfy further along in pregnancy Hmm Hope you find something that works for you!

Mileymoocow · 26/08/2016 11:20

may you must have an amazing memory! Please can I borrow it??? Grin I think I will try a paracetamol and see what happens! I have baggy as shit eyes with all the lack of sleep - pretty sure people will start to think I'm a meth user soon if I don't get some rest. Bloody pregnancy.

As my BHs are getting more intense, it would appear little one is getting pissed off. Anyone being kicked to a pulp every time they feel a BH contraction?!

IndiX · 26/08/2016 11:31

Potato that sounds so hard. I think you need to do what makes you happy and not feel guilty about it, you and Arya are the most important people now. See how today goes, hopefully she will be ok but if she's not then keep some distance for a while. This can't be helping your blood pressure either! Arya sounds like a little angel.

Leonie I hope you get your gorgeous boy back today.

Feef increased CM here too! Think it's just one of those lovely pregnancy things.

Miley&planet I had terrible thigh chafing when I was on holiday and was living in shorts, dresses and bikinis. Not too bad now I'm back in the UK and it's cooler and I'm back in leggings or jeans. I feel you though, I had to take baby powder with me on holiday and chuck a load on my thighs every day!

Miley when my sciatica gets really really bad I lie on a hot water bottle and take 1 or 2 paracetamol. Sorry you're in pain!

BunchOfBobs · 26/08/2016 11:41

Leonie he looks so diddy. Any news on if he's coming to you yet? You're doing so well with it all, it must be all such a shock.

Thanks Maya Smile that's kind of you to say.

So stretch marks.... My bump was completely unttouched. However my ass and top of my thighs now resemble a tiger/zebra. DH told me he spotted 1 on my ass during labour. It's actually covered!! Clearly the last couple of days of pregnancy I either piled on the weight or water retention in that area because I did not see them before labour started!!
After 9 months of my asthma being none existent today it's come back and reminding me to take my inhalers. I'm a wheezy cough bag at the mo.
Health visitor came today and Atticus has nearly put on another pound in a week. Yay boobies. He's now 10lb 1oz.Grin

Yay Drink glad you've seen your LOs heartbeat and can believe it now. Huge congrats again.

Potato I hope today goes okay and isn't too stressful for you. Leave if it gets so, it won't help your blood pressure any.
