Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

I've not got time to read through all of yesterday's posts, but wanted to say good luck pink for today. Hope everything runs smoothly.

Nevlet · 06/09/2016 07:15

Thanks leonie and shelb I tried a muslin but it just goes straight through. Honestly I don't know how this boy can fit that much pee inside him!

BunchOfBobs · 06/09/2016 07:50

Nev I'm the same using a swaddle muslin. Have you checked his willy is pointing down so it's not leaking through the top of the nappy? Les shave you thought about using cloth nappies for night time? You can boost then to make them more absorbent. Also I've got a waterproof crib sheet, kind of Moses basket size, that would probably fit the sleepy head, could you get one of them?

Good luck for today Pink keep us all updated.

Hope you're feeling better Lisa and marmite.

It was day 3 for me with milk but my colostrum increased massively as soon as I had him.

Hope the LOs don't need further treatment for jaundice Leonie and Danni.

Congrats on the afternoon tea win Indi sounds amazing. I love an afternoon tea.

potato so glad it went well with your mum,'I've heard UTIs can do strange things to the elderly but wow I wouldn't have expected that severe a reaction, it must be nice to know you can see and speak to her without it all kicking off. Lovely to hear how smitten she is.**

I haven't started pumping yet as was told not to until breast feeding is fully established at 6 weeks as you can cause oversupply and therefore mastitis. It'll be different if you have low supply though I imagine. I've bought a haakaa pump for when I do though. It's just a suction pump that you attach to the boob you're not feeding from whilst feeding LO. Has loads of good reviews on a breastfeeding group I'm on on Facebook.

Atticus finally had a poo last night after 5 days of withholding. Apparently it's all completely normal and it meant I had a really easy night with him as he would go straight down after a feed and wind, no half hour of trying to calm his stomach. I've been up since 6.30 with him, had a shower, eaten breakfast, watched an episode of narcos and now we're going back to sleep. GrinFirst baby group session today, I'm oddly nervous. It's just an informal chat and get to know each other today and from next week it's baby massage. I may also go to my locks breast feeding support group on Friday just to show my face so there's more people to know. Hoping I'll finally start making connections here after living here nearly 2 years.

Mileymoocow · 06/09/2016 08:07

pink good luck today! Thinking of you Grin so exciting you get to meet your little one finally!

All you lovely new mummies sound like yous are doing amazingly well - definitely my inspiration. Making a list of things you ladies mention so please keep it coming Smile

I started freaking out about labour last night. I've had my head in the sand up until now and apparently I'm nervous as hell which then kicked off my anxiety and resulted in very little amount of sleep! I hope I'm not panicking for the next 4 and a bit weeks...

ElleSarcasmo · 06/09/2016 08:24

Good luck today Pink! Thinking of you.

Yay for placenta moving Lilian!

Good luck with baby group Bunch. Hopefully you'll meet some lovely people.

Potato your DSS sounds like a typical teenager Smile. Hope your OH's interview goes well, is it today?

Miley I know how you feel, I am really anxious about it too. I'm trying to keep my head in the sand as much as possible!

PotatosMum · 06/09/2016 08:38

Pink good luck for today, looking forward to hearing your little girl has arrived.

Nev thanks for sharing your story of breast feeding. That's exactly the sort of situation I wanted to avoid. I just do sometimes wish I'd tried but Arya is thriving on formula so I guess all's well that ends well.

Bunch good luck with your club.

UTI's are awful for the elderly. A very bad UTI is what put mum into hospital at the start of all this.

Miley don't worry about labour. It only matters while it's happening. After you'll forget all about it within days. It's really weird.

Elle OHs interview is on Thursday so we have a couple more days of stress yet.

So OH has gone off to work and I'm alone for the first time. Feeling really nervous. Arya is being good as gold though. I fed her and told her a story and now she's out for the count! Grin

Has anyone got any suggestions about dealing with piles? Im using cream and they are shrinking but in also constipated and as a result every time i do poop my piles bleed and hurt Sad

Speaking of poop, Arya's is still rock hard and massive. Going to call HV about it today.

Mileymoocow · 06/09/2016 08:55

potato can you take anything for your constipation? You have my sympathies - it's really awful (and I don't even have piles to contend with!) Really glad Arya is behaving for mummy Grin she sounds like a total dream. Hope her tummy issue is sorted soon.

elle I guess the only way to look at it for me is that little one is on there now and needs to come out somehow! I've managed to not panic for over 35 weeks - guess I should go and bury my head again

IndiX · 06/09/2016 09:02

Good luck pink! Thinking of you and can't wait to hear all about your new arrivalFlowers

Great news about the scan and your placenta Lillian!
*
Bunch* I hope baby group is good and you meet some nice women.

I slept a lot better last night, thank god! I think because I'd basically guzzled a bottle of gaviscon through out the day and before bed and it did the trickGrin obviously still went for 4 weesHmmbut at least I wasn't up for hours.
I hope you all have a lovely day, I really need to get started on washing baby clothes etc but don't want to do it all now or I'm going to have nothing to do in a couple of weeks.

Also did you all wash all baby's blankets? Obviously I'll wash the ones she'll sleep in but I have a few fluffy blankets for the pram and I don't want them ruined in the wash. Is there anything you didn't bother washing?

IndiX · 06/09/2016 09:07

Just been told that gaviscon causes constipation. You seriously can't win! Envy

BunchOfBobs · 06/09/2016 09:35

I've just realised, hasn't it been a year since your first thread Shelb that kick started the many threads since? Have a lot of us now been chatting for a year?! Wow!

Ni4444 · 06/09/2016 09:56

Finally checking in on this "new" thread! 22weeks tomorrow! Yay more than half way and all looked healthy at 20week scan (although baby had a mahoosive head! Hoping that evens out quick!). So impatient for the next 20ish weeks to go!!!

Just finished reading last thread (congrats on gorgeous baby Leonie!!!) but will see what surprises and new little bundles this thread has brought!! Xx

Sodasoda · 06/09/2016 10:04

Good luck today pink thinking of you!

Ha indi in my bitter experience everything to do with pregnancy causes constipation!

Hope baby club is good bunch

Good news on the placenta Lillian - I was same as you and mine moved as well.

Second day of ML today, more cooking, pregnancy massage and visiting a friend with a new baby - hoping that might kick in some labour hormones?!

Sodasoda · 06/09/2016 10:05

Sorry - forgot - indi - yes, I'm washing baby blankets too but probably not necessary if not going to be next to their skin?

Mileymoocow · 06/09/2016 10:14

indi I've washed everything that will come into contact with baby. All my hospital stuff too (pyjamas, nightie etc) and I've also washed OHs hospital stuff because I'm a complete fanny Grin I wish I'd left stuff to do for ML but I'm literally done now...may have to go buy more stuff. Think I'll wash the moses basket and poddle pod covers again because it's been sitting for a few weeks. I'm with soda - EVERYTHING causes constipation Sad I did do 2 poos yesterday though which I was ridiculously chuffed about AND they were soft.

soda hope you have a lovely day! Sounds heavenly. Thinking of booking for a pregnancy massage so please let us know what it's like.

Hi ni! It is definitely harder to keep up now people are finished work etc! Also wow, 22 weeks?! Other people's pregnancies seem to go a lot quicker than mine has.

firstgo1984 · 06/09/2016 11:19

Hi all. Just checking in again. 32+2 today and all is going well. just under 2 weeks left of work. Looking forward to finishing now though so far it has all been straightforward!

LillianFullStop · 06/09/2016 11:43

Oh good tips on the sleepyhead shelb and bunch - I have a mattress protector for the Snuzpod but not for the sleepyhead. The fabric is so thick it takes a while to dry too! bunch I have a couple of washable nappies with a booster so planning to use those for nighttime. I went with the tots bots bamboozle but looking for a nappy wrap to go with it.

glad you had better sleep last night indi

hello ni and first! nice to hear from you both and that all is going well!

elle and miley I'm the same about the birth - I find if I have something else to worry me (eg risk of gestational diabetes or low lying placenta) then I don't have time to worry about the birth. But now I've got an all clear on all the niggles I only have the birth to worry think about! My current concern is that in almost every scan LO has her hands in front of her face and I've read babies can get stuck in the birth canal and won't progress if they come down with their hand by their head! did anyone watch Five Star Babies set in the Portland hospital? there was lady there that wanted an all natural birth (she was a yoga instructor) and her labour wouldn't progress because bub had hand by his head so couldn't come down for all the contractions she had. EMCS it had to be.

marmitecheesetoast · 06/09/2016 12:16

Hope baby group goes well today Bunch I think I'd be nervous too, hopefully they'll be a lovely friendly bunch though.

Hope first day without OH continues to go well Potato!

Glad you had a better sleep last night Indi

enjoy your massage today Soda!

I had my booking-in appointment this morning so all feeling a lot more real after being rather bombarded by information! Quite exciting! She put me down as consultant-led for now which surprised me though based on the fact I can't absorb B12 in my gut (related to my IBS) and so have quarterly B12 injections, plus a random tropical virus that led to me being hospitalised for dehydration 2 years ago Hmm I guess it just didn't cross my mind that either would be relevant or that I'd be consultant-led. She did say the consultant may well decide to refer me back to midwife-led though so I guess I see what they say.

Got 12 week scan booked in for 29th September which isn't far away at all! Just need to decide whether to tell my manager between now and then or just tell him I have a 'hospital appointment' and probably raise suspicions anyway! Hmm

I'm hoping all is going well with Pink today!

PotatosMum · 06/09/2016 13:00

Miley I went to the pharmacy today and got something to soften my poop as my piles are now bleeding whenever I try to poop Sad. I will let everyone know if it works.

I also spoke to a health visitor today about Arya's poop... My HV basically said do nothing but this one told me to change her formula and I canal ready see the milk is less "stodgy" so I'm hopeful it will solve her wind and poop problems.

Indi I washed absolutely everything for Arya.

Bunch really, we've all been chatting for a year?! That's insane!

Ni yay for being over half way! You'll be at the finish line before you know it!

Marmite glad booking in went well. I be typecast wait to see lo for the first time. Grin

Feefeefs · 06/09/2016 14:38

Sorry if I've missed anything phone will only load a small bit of the thread.

In maternity assessment, went to GP due to calf pain now have to be checked for DVT have been here hours!! Which is reassuring in some ways as they're obviously considering me fairly low priority! The only problem is I'm currently the most comfortable I've been in weeks(!) propped up on an air mattress in a lovely warm room and struggling not to fall asleep!

Hope masons jaundice clears quickly Dani and that the breastfeeding gets easier.

Gaviscon causes constipation indi? I was holding back in case it was causing my overactive bowels won't be so worried now!!

Sounds like all the new babies and mums are doing great still hard to imagine that'll be me soon.

Ahhh shite I might have to stay here overnight

PotatosMum · 06/09/2016 16:45

Feef sorry you might've stuck in hospital over night... But at least youre comfortable!

Changing milk has worked like magic!!! I've never been so happy to see squidgy poo before. Now if only I could poop I'd be happy. I've taken the laxatives but so far I don't think it's made any difference and my bottom is in so much pain and bleeds when I try to poop Sad sorry for the tmi.

Co5mo · 06/09/2016 19:54

Potato I'm so pleased to hear that the visit with your Mum went well and you have made some memories to treasure of the three of you together.

Feef have you had any results yet? Fingers crossed it's not a DVT amd you get home soon.

Well that's me done at work for mat leave. Baby has been thoroughly spoiled by my colleagues and I have been dispatched home with the biggest chocolate cake going. Who wants a piece?

leoniethelioness · 06/09/2016 19:56

Yay, Co5mo!

Wondering how Pink is doing... Hopefully not a long induction.

Danni89 · 06/09/2016 20:21

Thanks feef- hope your hospital visit didn't result in DVT.

Sorry to hear of your pooing issues potato

Yay for Mat leave cosmo and glad you and baby got spoiled by colleagues

Sooo emotional today... Baby blues have kicked in. Jaundice went down slightly today, but still needs to be checked tomorrow along with weight and heel pitch test

drinkyourmilk · 06/09/2016 20:22

I'll read through and commercial t properly after I've eaten, but I've just had a 10 week scan. I'm going to be a mummy! Can't stop crying Grin
It's not the clearest scan picture, but on screen we saw a heartbeat, 2 arms and hands and two feet and legs. S/he even gave us a wave and a dance.
