Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Poor you Lisa that sounds horrible. Like miley mentioned - could you put it down to a bug at work rather than pregnancy related so it won't affect maternity?

Marmite - I don't think they're that worried if your BP is low but you could well be anaemic. If so they'll give you iron tablets and you'll forget what normal pooing is like Wink

Shelb - how long can you hire breast pump from hospital? I haven't got a pump yet, was waiting to see how breastfeeding goes before I invest but hiring one could be a plan! Hope baby sleeps better tonight!

Danni and leonie hope your LOs get better and don't have to go into hospital.

First day of ML today! Have washed baby clothes, picked up some extra bits in John Lewis and going to do some cooking for the freezer. I've got a pregnancy massage tomorrow which I'm really looking forward to. My feet are already so much better and I'm so much more relaxed.

Pink thinking of you tomorrow and hoping everything goes smoothly.

IndiX · 05/09/2016 17:03

Potato that's lovely that you had a nice visit with you mum, I'm so happy for you both that you can enjoy special time with your little princess.

Danni/Leonie sorry to hear about the jaundice, hopefully they won't need you to go back to hospital.

Marmite my BP has been low through out and they haven't been worried about it, I would mention it to your midwife though as it could be anemia. They'll find all that out with your blood tests though. Hope you're ok.

Shelb sorry about your bad night, I feel stupid now for posting every night with my insomnia. I don't think I've realised what it's really going to be like with a baby! Hope tonight is a better night for you both.

Miley I haven't been to any of my NHS antenatal classes, in all honesty I couldn't be bothered and figured I have enough other mums around me that if I need to ask anything I can speak to them. At least you got the afternoon off! Smile

Soda sounds like a good productive day! I've not done anything baby related but I have done a lot of housework and washing so I feel a bit more organised.

I've just found out I've won a competition for an afternoon tea with champagne for me and a friend, at one of my favourite restaurants back in LiverpoolGrin just booked in for January when I'll next be back there, I'll even be able to take Beanie for her first afternoon tea. It's definitely cheered my Monday up!

marmitecheesetoast · 05/09/2016 17:59

Pink I'm about 8+1. Was going to wait to tell work til 12 week scan but I have a feeling I may end up telling my manager sooner. Especially after the horribly stressful afternoon I had today. It's a really busy time for us and just getting more and more piled on me and it's getting a bit much.

Sorry about Mason's jaundice Danni hope you don't have to go back in.

Haha thanks Soda! I have IBS so going the other will be a bit of a novelty for me! sounds like a great first day of mat leave!

Glad to hear your mum's visit went well potato! Smile

Afternoon tea sounds fab Indi something lovely to look forward to!

I think I'm going to go back to my pilates class tonight. I haven't been since I found out I was preggers as was worried if I could still go (online guidance seems rather contradictory) and as I go with my friend I thought it would be difficult to discreetly talk to the teacher. My friend is away so not going tonight though and I've been missing it so thought I would take advantage and go along while I can tell the teacher I'm pregnant and ask what I should avoid. I'm sure as long as I take it easy and avoid anything that I'm not sure about it'll be fine. I've found a few pregnancy pilates and yoga classes in my area but they are all for 12 weeks plus so would like to keep going to my regular class in the meantime. I've still been swimming and running but I do like my Monday night pilates! Did others continue with anything like 'normal' non pregnancy pilates/yoga classes in first trimester?

Pinklily1 · 05/09/2016 18:00

Potato, I'm so pleased the visit with your mum went well!

Indi, what a great competition to win, and a nice treat to look forward to once baby arrives.

I hope Theodore, Mason and baby Shelb all recover from their jaundice and none have to go back into hospital.

Miley, that's really irritating that the class was cancelled, particularly as it sounds like they didn't give much notice! I went to a labour and birth class and it basically covered the stages of labour and the various pain relief options, so all stuff you can find out online.

Marmite, how are you feeling today?

I already had my eye on the Medela breast pump, so will definitely be getting that one now. For the new mummies, how long did it take for your milk to come in? Our NCT teacher made out as if you just hover baby around the breast as soon as they are born and the colostrum and then milk is ready and waiting, but having read stuff on line I'm not so sure Hmm

Just waiting for the hospital to phone to tell me a time to go in tomorrow...

Pinklily1 · 05/09/2016 18:03

Marmite, I couldn't do anything gym wise for a while at the beginning as I was so sick, but once that passed I continued with running (up to 24 weeks - it made me sick again after that) and spinning (until they told me to stop going at 30 weeks Angry). Since then I've just been going to the gym and using the bike, cross trainer, treadmill and weights.

IndiX · 05/09/2016 18:12

Pink I'm so excited for you, I'm sure everything will be fine and just think you'll be meeting your little girl so soon!

Marmite same as pink really, I've done everything the same in the gym since being pregnant. Only thing I stopped was running as my boobs hurt and I was feeling nauseous around the 7-10 week mark. Since then I've kept up with gym 5 times a week mostly spin and cardio/kettlebell circuits, still going now and I'm nearly 35w. As long as you were used to exercise or Pilates before then there's no reason you can't keep it up nowSmile

marmitecheesetoast · 05/09/2016 18:18

Great thanks guys. It's just cos it seems to suggest online you shouldn't be doing too much strong abs work even in first trimester that I was unsure.

So exciting Pink I hope you find out what's happening soon

IndiX · 05/09/2016 18:27

Chat to the teacher marmite but I'm sure you'll be fine. Enjoy your class!

rosetintedspectacles · 05/09/2016 18:44

marmite I carried on my regular Pilates class right the way through my first trimester (and up until about 36 weeks). I did end up confiding in my teacher that I was pregnant at about 9 weeks (we had a private scan done at 8 weeks, so I felt a bit more secure about talking about the pregnancy) because my boobs hurt so much I couldn't bear doing any of the stomach-laying exercises! But otherwise I didn't modify at all until I was past about 16 or so weeks, I think?

Sodasoda · 05/09/2016 19:09

That's a lovely treat to look forward to indi. Are you now on ML too?

Marmite I continued gym stuff as normal throughout first trimester except when I felt a bit rough and skipped a class. I told my gym instructor straight away. It's only really from 16 weeks you need to modify abs stuff. I continued gym classes until 25ish weeks when frankly I just couldn't be arsed! And I felt like my belly got in the way of spinning. I switched to preggo yoga Grin

Sorry about double post Blush

Meant to say miley - I never went to the nhs antenatal classes. I meant to but the times didn't work. Are you doing NCT? I don't feel particularly unprepared - I've spoken to friends, looked online and done NCT. Also frankly with me sometimes it's best I don't know ALL the details..... Wink

LillianFullStop · 05/09/2016 20:08

Oh no Lisa that sounds horrible especially having to go to hospital. Hope you had an easy work from home today.

Potato glad you had such a nice visit with your mum! hope it keeps up and her new gorgeous granddaughter will keep her spirits up Grin

leonie and danni I hope the bubs recover soon and there's no need for a hospital stay.

soda so jealous of your mat leave! a massage and a leisurely weekday shop sounds wonderful! John Lewis on a weekend is like hell on earth!!

shelb and leonie thanks for the reviews on the medela swing - I picked it up last week and I'm only 33w so it's sitting there unopened but I'm glad it seems to be the right choice!

will be thinking of you on your induction day tomorrow pink

indi that price is awesome! I love a good afternoon tea Grin by the way I asked about the increased heart rate today and was told it was normal and might come and go. Apparently to do with the increased blood flowing through and sometimes the heart has to pump extra hard to get the blood flowing through. feels strange to feel like I'm nervous when I'm not lol.

had my scan today and placenta is well out of the way now yay!!! scan report actually had high anterior what a relief! baby is on the small side (not surprised I'm a shortie myself!) but still within normal range and her growth rate is consistent. they tried to do a 3D picture but she had her hands in front of her face the whole time! head down and facing me so not back to back - let's hope she stays that way!

leoniethelioness · 05/09/2016 20:16

Great news, Lillian!

LisaTheSimpson · 05/09/2016 21:27

Thank you everyone, you're very sweet.

Feeling better today. Gradually getting stronger, just need to take it easy (I am not someone who does that very well as I get bored and faff) Grin

I ended up telling my two bosses (who are basically friends and just one level up from me), and I suggested I do some gentle working from home for a couple of days. I said I didn't want to trigger the sick leave/early mat leave, but would do it if it worked better for them. Luckily they want me as long as possible, so they'd rather have me working from home for part of this week and in most of next week before I go, than have me suddenly disappear. So good news.

Fingers crossed for tomorrow, Pink! Thinking of you!

marmitecheesetoast · 05/09/2016 21:55

Thanks so much for the reassurances, went to my class and really enjoyed it. Think I'd just read some slightly OTT stuff online! It was nice to go and do something 'normal' for me from before pregnancy.

I've got a sore throat this evening so think I may be coming down with a bit of a virus which perhaps explains why I was feeling so particularly feeble and sorry for myself earlier!

Glad your bosses were understanding and helpful lisa

Sounds like good news on the scan lillian!

Good luck for tomorrow pink!

PotatosMum · 05/09/2016 22:28

Indi congrats on winning the afternoon tea.

Pink although I didn't breast feed my milk came in about two or three days after Arya was born and lasted about four days before my boobs went back to normal. Part of me is a little sad I didn't try breast feeding now the opportunity has passed Sad

Marmite I couldn't do any exercise, even walking became a struggle early on for me.

Lillian yay for placenta getting out the way Smile

Arya has been a nightmare today. I have learned to never mess with her feeding time if I want a quiet life Confused

shelbTa · 05/09/2016 22:46

Good luck tomorrow pink, will be thinking of you!

Breast milk came in day 1 but seems to be lessening now, quite sad, going to try upping the expressing.

X

LillianFullStop · 05/09/2016 23:12

Thanks potato and leonie it's a big relief - been on knicker patrol to check for bleeding.

Glad your bosses have been understanding lisa - clearly they value you!

hope the virus isn't too serious marmite!

potato hope Arya settles soon

Danni89 · 05/09/2016 23:15

My breast milk has only come in today properly, so day 4

Good luck tomorrow pink, I'll be thinking of you

leoniethelioness · 06/09/2016 02:56

Think it was day 3 for me and breastmilk

Nevlet · 06/09/2016 03:39

Good luck today pink its so exciting knowing you will meet your little one soon!

Potato so pleased your visit to Mum went well. We took Bodhi to meet his Great Nana who now has no recollection of about two days (think another stroke) and keeps demanding to see the baby because she can't remember seeing him! Don't feel bad about feeding I had awful trouble Bodhi has a big appetite and goes from asleep to besides himself for food in less than a minute and was so frantic on the boob that I had cracked and bleeding nipples by day two. Was even worse once my milk came in as it wound him up even more... We are now on formula feeds and he is so much happier.

Bunch any tips on lining the sleepyhead with something extra? Am having trouble with middle of the night wee-nami's that shoot straight out the nappy and soak onto the sleepyhead. Its a lot of washing drying etc and he won't settle without it. I have made a liner type thing out of incontinence pads at the moment poor lad!

Hope everyone is well Smile

shelbTa · 06/09/2016 05:14

Nev - we have the sleepyhead and put muslin under head and towel under butt!

X

leoniethelioness · 06/09/2016 06:07

I've got an extra large muslin on my Sleepyhead as a sheet.
