Behold, the wonder of birth! Members from 6 weeks bfp to post-partum wonder Mamas! No question to grotty or minging.

We've come full circle from obsessing about cervical mucus to now obsessing if it's our vagina baby plug going! What larks!

Lots of talk about poo, ours and now babies too! Baby brain is REAL! This heat can kiss my arse. And who KNEW being so neurotic about which changing mat to buy could be so satisfying and addictive!

Roll up literally, in my case, cause I'm practically rotund! for TTC #1 Grads!

Woo hoo Shelb!!! I'm so excited for you! Hope all goes well.

Thanks Miley, I hope so too. I'm not massively patient at the best of times, but it's made worse by my due date being only days away and everyone keeps asking if baby has come yet!

Are you going to go back to the doctors about the sickness or just try and ride it out?

marmitecheesetoast · 27/08/2016 23:13

Thanks for the all welcomes guys Grin and thanks miley I'm not normally that fussed for meat, so will just listen to my body and go with what it seems to want for now! (I've developed such a hankering for Bovril!!)

What absolute cuties potato and Leonie gorgeous photos!

How exciting shelbta!! Good luck!

Mileymoocow · 28/08/2016 04:23

Think I'll just see what happens pink, though maybe I should go back because I've been up since half 3, had some toast and brought it straight back up!

Thinking of you shelb! Hope all is/has gone perfectly.

marmite I love bovril! Mmmm. Seriously though enjoy what you want for as long as you can because morning sickness can be a right bitch

IndiX · 28/08/2016 05:24

Anyone else in the wide awake gang?!

Shelb that's SO exciting, hope all is going well. The curry works!Grin

Miley sorry you're feeling so crap, feel so sorry for you that the sickness is back along with all your aches and pains. I wouldn't worry about your skinny friends even though I'm kind of feeling the same about my baby shower you are growing a gorgeous human being and look fabulous doing so (even if you don't feel it!)

Any more mucus plug pink? (Weirdest question I've ever asked)

I absolutely stink of fake tan, really want to shower now but I'm at my mums and can't wake her. Looking forward to my baby shower today but sometimes get anxious about 'mixing' different groups of friends and family...everyone will get on I'm sure, but my Nan is going and she always tends to say the wrong slightly bitchy thing to people Confused hopefully they will just think she's a crazy old lady. Also I felt slightly jealous last night seeing pics of my friends on Instagram etc out partying or in nice bars, I don't usually feel bothered when friends go out but becuase I'm home in Liverpool I think I feel like I'm missing out more. Silly I knowBlush

Planeteer · 28/08/2016 05:41

Morning

Indi, yup, actually can't remember the last time I slept for more than 3 hours at a stretch. Gah! Really hope your baby shower today is lovely and that you can relax and feel pampered by your favourite people. I know what you mean about mixing groups of friends, I get a bit stressed about it too, but they're all there because they love you, and that's a pretty good thing to have in common!

Yay Shelb! So glad things are finally progressing. Thinking of you and hoping baby will be here in no time.

Miley I'm so sorry you're feeling rubbish. You deserve some kind of ultimate pregnancy endurance prize for the amount of shit your body is putting you through. I reckon go back to doctors, worst case scenario is they say they can't prescribe anything, but they might be able to take the edge off the sickness. I'm a week behind you, and also feeling like I have no idea how I'm going to last until due date, but we're so nearly there.

Potato and leonie how are you guys doing?*
*
Went to see the house yesterday. Was terrified that I wasn't going to like it on a second look, but actually it's much bigger than I remember and have come away feeling a lot more positive about it. Still looks like I'll be moving at at least 37 weeks, which is making me feel sick, but have to accept there's nothing I can do about it. Anyone else struggling with feeling like there are just too many things outside their control? Never realised how much of a control freak I was!

drinkyourmilk · 28/08/2016 06:07

I've started 5 different replies and lost them all. So irritating!
Potato I'm sorry things didn't go well with your mum. Fwiw I think that you are doing the right thing. It's time to protect yourself and Arya right now.
Hope you got home last night Flowers
Leonie thanks for sharing pictures of Theodore, he is such a cutie, glad he us responding well to phototherapy, and hope he is back where he belongs soon. You are doing an amazing job.
Welcome Hep and minstral, time to over analyse everything your body does, then worry about it! I don't think we are very far apart Smile
Miley you just can't catch a break! I'd go back to the gp. You shouldn't have to put up with being so sick at this stage.
Indi I've been awake at 5 for a couple of weeks, combined with peeing 5x a night and I look & feel dreadful. Can't wait for the fabled serenity of the second trimester! My Mil keeps saying "good practice for when the little one arrives" , yep Hmm that's how I look at it.
Shelb, squee! Finally! Hope things are going well
Pink hope the plug keeps coming!
Bunch Atticus is so sweet. Can't believe you've got this mummy thing nailed already! You're an inspiration. Hope the stitches continue to behave.
Apologies to those I've missed out. This thread moves fast.

leoniethelioness · 28/08/2016 06:16

Thinking of you, shelb!

BunchOfBobs · 28/08/2016 06:41

Potato hope you managed to get home. White cost syndrome is a real thing and if your blood pressure is already high it's most definitely not going to be helped being in.

Leonie Theo is so gorgeous. I hope he's back with you now or if not tomorrow. So glad the pump has made you feel better

Miley get back to the gp, don't just be suffering with it. So sorry you're feeling down too but it's not much longer now.

Shelb aaaahhh how exciting!!!

So yesterday after DH checked my wound and declared how much better it was looking I managed to convince him to show me the photo of when it was at its worst. (He had to take a pic to show the different midwives "this is how it looked" as different midwives kept coming to see me). Oh my good god I don't know how I coped. If it happens to anyone else definitely definitely do not look. I'm glad I've looked now as I've seen the before and after and I saw the after first but shit me it was BAD!!

leoniethelioness · 28/08/2016 07:30

Oh, Bunch! I've still got my honeycomb dressing on. I can take it off tomorrow but I am feeling afraid. I can't see it but one of the midwives encouraged me to touch it. It was fine. DH has described it to me too. I'm just worried about what's beneath. 😂

Waiting to find out if Theo can come to me today. He did really well overnight but needs to be on 3 hourly feeds to be accepted back here. He's been on 2 hourly feeds. If his blood sugar is fine then he will be with me in an incubator to stay warm and with a feeding tube until we have established breastfeeding. I am hoping for some good news and terrified about having to care for him!

I'm still very behind on the thread but to the person who asked about caesarean recovery- so far the pain has been fine. I've had Diclofenac on the first day and Tramadol the first and second nights but otherwise it's just paracetamol and ibuprofen. I can walk around slowly and sit down fairly slowly. I can carefully pick up essential items if I go down on bended knee and can use something to push myself back up. Getting in and out of bed is the worst thing. I have an electric bed here which helps. I'm worried about our over bath shower at home but otherwise feeling like I'll manage fairly well. DH has 4 weeks off work so that's ideal. It's not been as awful as I had feared it would be at all. I was terrified of the thought and a wreck when I had the operation but it's been okay.

I had another meltdown last night but the nice midwife came and spoke to me and arranged for skin to skin with Theodore for me. She gave me a bit of a birth debrief and explained that the emergency section was necessary due to the risk of cord prolapse and that neither of us has any sign of infection so there's no reason why I went into early labour. I'm going to try to stop feeling guilty now that I couldn't keep him safe until term.

leoniethelioness · 28/08/2016 07:31

Little one 💙💙💙💕💕💕

BunchOfBobs · 28/08/2016 07:46

Oh leonie thar photo is beautiful. Definitely stop feeling guilty, it wasn't your fault and you're both doing great.

HepKestrel · 28/08/2016 08:00

Leonie don't feel guilty you looked after him so well he was impatient to meet you! Sounds like he is doing very well.

It was me who who curious about caesarian recovery. So thank you!

Shelby thinking of you! Hope all is well! Flowers

Feefeefs · 28/08/2016 08:40

Enjoy your shower indi! I always feel like that with different groups too.

You really are having a rubbish time miley! Hope you get some relief today.

Feeling your pain planteer re moving an house viewings I'm also doing my driving test this week and the weevils have just about tipped me over the edge! Confused

He's beautiful leonie hope your feeling better after last nights chat with your midwife.

Exciting stuff shelbta!

drinkyourmilk · 28/08/2016 08:49

Leonie you have nothing to feel guilty about. This isn't something you wanted, and you've dealt with it so well.
are you able to see him in scbu whenever you want to?
It's a lovely picture. He looks so content.

drinkyourmilk · 28/08/2016 08:50

Good luck with your driving test feef

Feefeefs · 28/08/2016 09:26

Thanks drink

ElleSarcasmo · 28/08/2016 09:43

Leonie poor little Theodore with bruises on his legs. My sister also had a breech baby and had to do exercises for a few weeks after as her feet had been all crunched up. She is absolutely fine now. Love the Theo pics, he is such a cutie! Especially the last one with you two snuggled 💙

Thanks for sharing how you've been after your C-section. I'm thinking of requesting one now (increased rates of instrumental delivery and emergency sections in GD) which I am ok with-I just want to get some more stats behind me before I bring it up. Indi and Canters, how many weeks were you when you asked for yours?

Pink I haven't seen the consultant yet to ask about when they would be likely to deliver but they wouldn't let you go too far over because of increased risk of stillbirth in GD with overdue babies (I think 41 weeks max). However, I am anticipating extra growth scans now so maybe it depends how big the baby is getting (huge baby being one of the risks). Also the risk of pre eclampsia is increased (not yet sure by how much-still have lots of reading to do before the appointment!) which could also require an early delivery.

Congratulations and welcome Marmite! Hope the early scan goes well.

How was the wedding Soda?

Indi hope you have a lovely time at your baby shower Smile

Arya is so gorgeous Potato, love her little hearts babygro! Was your DSS impressed with his room?

Thanks again for sending the snack list Feefs, I am desperate to stay diet controlled if at all possible so planning to be pretty strict 😁 Bleurgh! At the weevils. Have you checked flour, rice etc? Hope the driving test goes well.

Drink the lost post thing has happened to me a few times so I usually write longer ones in my notes app.

Mileymoocow · 28/08/2016 10:21

Busy morning on here! I managed to get back to bed at 5.45 and had a couple of hours sleep. Not feeling quite as pathetic today and have managed to keep my breakfast down. It's absolutely persisting down here, though - I have a feeling bbq might be off. If it is OH is going to suggest all going out for a meal later.

indi thank you Smile I'm sure my tiredness and raging hormones are to blame mostly. I hope your baby shower is lovely and that you get spoilt rotten. Oh the smell of fake tan...I don't understand how they can't perfume it so it doesn't stink of damp biscuits. I'm forever in trouble for making our bed stink of it Blush

Thanks planet! I'm definitely in need of a new hand bag or something - I do agree! Wink bless OH he's been absolutely perfect, he's just let me whinge and brought me tea and flowers. Glad the house exceeded expectations! Hopefully everything goes swimmingly and you're in in good time.

bunch I'm so relieved that your wound is healing! Tis about bloody time. Thanks for the kind words, I feel a little but pathetic but every time I see your pictures it just reminds me how lucky I really am and that I only have 6 weeks left! What's a little bit pain and sickness if I get something that adorable to keep forever!

leonie he is absolutely awesome! ❤ I'm sorry you're feeling down but I think you're doing brilliantly and you're coping so so well! Thank you for the honesty about c section - the idea terrifies me beyond belief do it does help to hear how you're doing afterwards.

feef good luck for your driving test! And the weevil extermination!

BunchOfBobs · 28/08/2016 10:28

Miley you've hit the nail on the head there. I keep saying to Atticus "I can't believe you're all mine and I get to keep you". It makes it all worth while.

PotatosMum · 28/08/2016 13:33

Hey, so they let me go last night but I have to go back today. I'm having a real wobble as there is a serious risk of me having a heart attack or stroke because the medication isn't working Sad I just keep thinking it's not fair, I've finally got everything I ever wanted and now this happens.
OH isn't dealing well either, he's angry this is happening to me and worried.
Arya is still a little star though, she only wanted two night feeds again last night. She's such an angel!
... So it took me so long to catch up that I now have an update. My increased medication seems to be working a little as my bp was better. Back to hospital tomorrow to check again

Shelb good luck! Hope your labour is progressing and you have your baby to cuddle Grin

Planet hope the house goes through fine for you. Moving at 37 weeks won't be too bad.

Drink I hate to say it but your mums right! LOs don't like you to go to bed early or get up late and they definitely don't like you to have uninterrupted sleep.

Leonie Theo is gorgeous and you definitely shouldn't feel guilty. Going into early labour was beyond your control. What is in your control is how much love you give him now.
Don't worry about looking after him, the midwives will show you what to do and even someone like me who was terrified of babies can pick it up really quickly.

Bunch so glad you're healing well now. I keep saying exactly the same thing to Arya. I just can't believe she's mine and they're not going to want her back.

LisaTheSimpson · 28/08/2016 16:50

Hi everyone, sorry I'm late to checking in.

Welcome newbies! Wishing you all a happy and healthy pregnancy!

Potato - you poor things, on a few counts. I'm so sorry about your Mum, that must be so hard on you all. But also, I can't believe the problems you're now having post birth, you poor girl. No wonder your OH is angry on your behalf - you've worked so hard and had the horrible fibroid pain to deal with, and now you've got lovely Arya and I'm sure you just want to snuggle up together. Hoping the doctors can sort everything out.

Leonie - aww, your photos of Theo are gorgeous (do you say Theo, or do you prefer the full Theodore?). He looks like he's thriving, and it's great the pump has helped you get lots of colostrum out. Fingers crossed he comes home soon!

Bunch, so glad to hear your stitches are healing. I can't believe you let your DH take photos of when it was really bad - you're very brave! And he sounds awesome! I'm loving your IG photos of you, Atticus, and Sherlock (did I get that name right?). I'm glad he's (Atticus, not the dog) is piling on weight and doing so well.

Shelb - fingers crossed it's all progressing for you! Thinking about you!

Miley, hope you've managed to get out today for a bit of fresh air (though it sounds like the weather is awful). We've had lots of rain here today in London, the cats are really annoyed about it (though because our new kitchen isn't quite finished and the builders are here, they're not very happy about being inside either).

Elle - sorry to hear about the GD. I hope it's manageable and doesn't end up being too difficult.

Drink - sorry to hear the first trimester isn't going too well. I don't want to bring you down, but I've had the regular nightly peeing every night since I can now remember. I know quantity of sleep won't be great once the baby is born, but I'm at least hoping the quality will be (no getting up every hour to pee, no achiness in my hips and pelvis, and no being kicked in the gut).

Went for a growth scan today and baby is already 6.5lb! (35 weeks). Eek! They want to see me again in three weeks, which is no surprise given they want to keep an eye on the size. Still within the margins, but head circumference is looking on the large side....!

Pinklily1 · 28/08/2016 17:54

Hi ladies

Bunch, i'm glad that the cut is improving. HAs Sherlock taken ok to Atticus? He seems to have done in the photos.

Potato, glad to hear the BP is settling a little bit. Hopefully it will continue to improve.

Drink, I don't think I've had a full nights sleep since January. I either have to get up multiple times in the night to go to the toilet, or i'm uncomfortable from hip pain and so tossing and turning. Its another pregnancy delight.

Leonie, don't feel guilty at all about early labour. We have absolutely no control over these things, our bodies and babies just do what they want when they want I think!

Lisa, will they induce you if baby continues to grow at the same rate? How is the kitchen coming on?

Hope all is going well for Shelb.

Miley, hopefully you made it to the BBQ in the ned.

Feefs, the weevils story made me feel a bit sick Shock. Do you think you've got rid of them all? Is it just you and OH in the house now for when baby arrives? Good luck with your driving test too.

Indi, I hope you've had a wonderful baby shower. I've had no more mucus plug that i've noticed. Generally no indications of labour at all over the last day or so Hmm.

Glad you still like the house Planet!

Hi to anyone else I have missed - it seems to have been busy here today!

DrWhy · 28/08/2016 18:43

Hi Folks,
Checking in typically late on the new thread!
38+2 with a (rather overgrown!) raspberry on team blue.
I've been crusing through pregnancy until the last few weeks, now the pelvic pain is seriously kicking in and I'm struggling to sleep. Also got the pregnancy waddle and the frequent loo visits!
I've got a few more things to get sorted out so I'm not keen for him to arrive early (I'd like to enjoy some baby free maternity leave! Smile ). We did manage to buy a car today after weeks of debate and discussion about what we wanted and spending yesterday and today at dealers - I was starting to despair! We'll be able to pick it up next Saturday so after that I won't have to get up in the mornings to take DH to work if I want the car Smile.
I'm a bit worried that between DTD this morning, relaxing about the car and the rather spicy laksa I've just had for dinner I might evict him early Confused
Shelb that sounds very exciting - I'm hoping you not being around today means it really was labour and we are about to have another lovely baby pic!
Potatoes that sounds like a very hard situation with your mum and it also won't be helping with your blood pressure. I think your DH is right, you just need to focus on yourself and Arya for a bit and make sure you are well enough to handle your mum a bit later.
Bunch you seem very calm about the stitches and healing, I'm impressed! I think I'm more worried about the potential state of me afterwards than the labour! Must remember to do my perineal massage... No idea if it makes the slightest difference but at least I feel I'm trying! Sounds like Atticus was totally worth it Smile
Leeonie sounds like he's coming along well and you are having good success expressing. It must be so hard being away from him but sounds like they are taking really good care of him. Hopefully you'll both be ready to go home soon.
Miley definitely worth talking to GP about whether they can prescribe you something, it sounds miserable.
Hi to everyone else, sorry on my phone it's hard to remember everything going on and to the Newbies - welcome Smile

Mileymoocow · 28/08/2016 18:44

Hope everyone's had a good day. I'll try to catch up when I calm down.

We were out walking the dog and about half an hour into it I felt extreme period pain and lower back pain on my right hand side. Extreme to the point I couldn't continue walking and started sweating on my palms and face. This pain lasted about 15 mins and slowly ebbed away. I still have it off and on in my lower back but no more in my tummy. Called midwife and she said to take paracetamol and have a bath because I'd probably overdone it on the exercise and it'll be muscular. I'm not convinced at all so am now in the bath hoping to God she's right.

Pinklily1 · 28/08/2016 18:46

Have you had anymore pain since the one that stopped you walking Miley? Fingers crossed a bath helps and baby stays put.
