May 2017 - anybody out there?

Hi

I just found out at the weekend that I'm pregnant, this will be no. 2. Had no idea how far gone I was as I had just had AF 7th Aug but after a very early scan this morning it looks like I've conceived since then...very surprised as HPT is seriously strong and I got 5 +ve OPK's last week which by the scan I would have only just conceived at that point.

Very much a waiting game at the moment and back in 2 weeks for another scan. If I am indeed only 3 weeks then I have pretty much the same due date as I had for my DD Grin only 1 year apart. Let the crazy times commence!

Anyone else this early in pregnancy and due in May 2017?

I have had to cancel and rebook my appointment with my GP as it clashes with something I need to do for work. First available appointment is now 2 weeks away,I will be 8+2.
I looked online for my local nhs trust and it says you can self refer and to call this number, rang and got a snotty midwife who said absolutely not and to go see my GP!

lalaland1985 · 26/09/2016 09:46

Thanks witty. Im 8+2 now and getting impatient!

ImYourWomanJonSnow · 26/09/2016 09:53

Just called my midwife to make the booking appointment - 24th October! It feels so far away. This first trimester feels like a long stretch of days, I wish I could just sleep until someone tells me that it's all ok.

aaaaaargh · 26/09/2016 09:57

1st trimester defo feels long and dragged out, I've got my booking in app on the 13th Oct and 12week scan on 7th Nov but that seems like a lifetime away

FoxMulder · 26/09/2016 10:07

I was also up last night being sick. Fucking miserable. Then I was awake for the rest of the night feeling sick. There is not a moment of my day where I do not feel like I am about to be sick anymore. No way am I going to work like this.

LovelyFishy · 26/09/2016 11:06

I'm worrying about sickness and wor took. Nausea only started a few days ago and I'm still in hangover phase but it's getting stronger every day. Not sure when enough's enough! Sorry you're feeling rubbish Fox.

Sonnet18 · 26/09/2016 12:14

lala I used babyscanning clinic on Ingram street, Glasgow. £39 for early scan and was a positive experience

mrspage1985 · 26/09/2016 12:22

Got my booking appt for the 24th October as well - what happens at these?? X

lalaland1985 · 26/09/2016 12:25

Thanks Sonnet!

mrspage1985 · 26/09/2016 12:41

My early scan is wity premier scans in litchfield they are v good
They have another site Leicester way I think it is?

Sonnet18 · 26/09/2016 12:53

mrspage the booking appointment is quite long and detailed. A million questions and some blood tests. Google it and the nhs website gives you much more details.

Badgerbird · 26/09/2016 13:01

Imogen and others who are feeling anxious I'm sorry to hear that, it's totally understandable! We are flooded with hormones and our lives are changing which can be exciting yet unsettling. For myself I found mindfulness worked before when I was waiting in between scans etc, I would bring my attention back to what I was doing in that exact moment to help stop it spiralling off into the "what ifs..." I also love listening to hypnosis/meditations off YouTube. I took the time & laid down & listened to one specifically to help anxiety when waiting for HCG results last week and I felt much calmer afterwards. I also find exercise helps, its such a brilliant state changer :)

Talulah you are not alone!! Blush

Sunflower30 · 26/09/2016 13:05

ghost I think it was only because I hadn't planned to tell them until after my early scan so it just came as a surprise when they asked. I can't lie well (especially to my parents) so they probably know but were gracious enough to leave it at that!
Feeling very unorganised compared to lots of you ladies as I haven't even arranged my booking appointment yet.

CinnamonTwist · 26/09/2016 13:21

Those of you talking about cosmetics/ skin care worries, I asked my MW at my booking in appt about this, as my cream and toner have salicylic acid and glycolic acid in, and SA can be harmful. She said that as long as it is only a cosmetic and doesn't need a prescription then it should be fine to keep using it, otherwise ask your GP.
I think the thing is (boring scientist hat on, sorry) as long as you are not ingesting it, it doesn't get absorbed systemically so won't reach your baby if you are only applying it topically in small amounts (and not picking spots) then it really doesn't go much further than the skin on your face, so shouldn't cause harm. I still stopped using mine for 3 weeks whilst waiting to ask her at booking in though, so I completely get the paranoia!!

princesslucky · 26/09/2016 13:23

Hello, can I join, please?

Tentatively due 31 May 2017 so wasn't sure whether to join May or June, but May's a lovely month so here we are.

POAS today and was rather surprised that doing it just once this time apparently did the trick. We lost a little girl at 25 weeks in February so it's been a rough year and I'm already rather nervous.

Only symptoms so far are waking up at 5am on the dot every morning for the last week and incredibly painful gums. This should be fun! Ditching the Wine for Brew and hoping for the best.

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 26/09/2016 14:33

Hi everyone.

Struggling to keep up with the pace of the group (not helped by it being deleted from my threads regularly.. when will MN fox his issue.... grumble grumble)

Huge congrats to all the new BFPs, so so exciting to be seeing early scans!

My news- feeling crappy. Vomiting started yesterday (6+2) and if my last pregnancy is anything to go by I could be like this until 30 weeks...! I hope not.

I also have a completely debilitating headache that I can't shift.

Managed to drag myself into work somehow- armed with sick bags and cool and soothe migraine strips. Not told work yet, but they will soon guess of this carries on.

Hope you are all having good days. X

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 26/09/2016 14:34

*fix this

teainbed · 26/09/2016 16:15

Me too, keep dropping off Threads I'm On. No news, just sick and first trimester is dragging. Welcome to everyone new.

SK28 · 26/09/2016 16:20

PupPup I have just sent you a PM. Thanks for setting a FB group up. I find it so much easier to keep up with everyone and everything on there!

I was meant to have another scan today but had to abandon it - DD1 woke up during the appointment and wouldn't let me put her down - full blown tantrum every time I tried. Going back Wednesday so am now trying to arrange childcare - not easy in arrange foreign country where we don't know many people well!

Damson9 · 26/09/2016 17:10

Hey ladies, apologies for not fully catching up and just selfishly swooping in with a question...

How are you all doing on tiredness? For the last few days, I've been so washed out, I can barely get upstairs for a wee or into the kitchen for a drink. Any exertion just seems to wipe me out straight away, so, naturally, I didn't make my 1.5-hour commute this morning. Doesn't matter how much sleep I get, I'm bushed.

All this on top of the general non-alcoholic hangover, which seems to be the first trimester so far...

Its a good job work are so forgiving, even if they don't know what for yet...

Woe is me Wink

Hope everyone else is coping ok xx

talulahbelle · 26/09/2016 17:22

I've had a day of hardly any sickness and lots of cramping. So I've been freaking out and running to the loo every hour. All seems fine and I had a few waves of yuckiness before I forced down some cold pizza.
I really seem to be about savoury/greasy food this pregnancy.

Sonnet18 · 26/09/2016 17:28

Damson I am exhausted as well...having a 7 month baby doesn't help but no matter how early I go to bed (8pm last night...) I'm still shattered. DD gets up at 5am so I've always got an early rise but 9hours sleep should be sufficient!!! I do remember being exhausted last time too but could lie on the couch a lot!

peasandquiet · 26/09/2016 18:04

Hi girls, Flowers for all of those with grotty symptoms. I can't believe how different this pregnancy is so far in comparison to my first, I feel a little sicky first thing but then it goes off. Last time it was all day sickness for the whole pregnancy so relieved that it's not identical this time. I am concerned that this is a bit of a sign of doom. Haven't raised the subject of an early scan with my husband yet as doubt he'll be up for spending £100. Appt for referral with GP next week going to explain my anxiety and hope she sends me to EPU for early scan. I've had some bad news in the family which makes announcing a pregnancy very insensitive. feel like we could be keeping this a secret well past 12 weeks.

Sipperskipper · 26/09/2016 18:05

talulah I second the greasy food. All I want is crisps and fizzy drinks - I haven't touched either for years! And I could take or leave chocolate, which is unheard of.

Also struggling to drink water (usually drink about 2.5L a day!) as it makes me feel sicky. (No vomiting though).

Feeling so, so tired. I have got no idea how those of you with children / babies / toddlers are managing feeling like this! You have my admiration!

Sonnet18 · 26/09/2016 18:14

Try not to worry peas - my first pregnancy was very different to this one. I was sick a good few times by this stage and I've not been sick yet. I think every pregnancy is different or perhaps our bodies are most used to the hormones? Who knows.
Sorry to hear you've had bad news in the family- hope all is well
