May 2017 - anybody out there?

Hi

I just found out at the weekend that I'm pregnant, this will be no. 2. Had no idea how far gone I was as I had just had AF 7th Aug but after a very early scan this morning it looks like I've conceived since then...very surprised as HPT is seriously strong and I got 5 +ve OPK's last week which by the scan I would have only just conceived at that point.

Very much a waiting game at the moment and back in 2 weeks for another scan. If I am indeed only 3 weeks then I have pretty much the same due date as I had for my DD Grin only 1 year apart. Let the crazy times commence!

Anyone else this early in pregnancy and due in May 2017?

Got everything crossed for you Blessed

I'm waiting for HCG levels results today (due to previous 2 MMC), feeling so nervous Sad This pregnancy malarkey is a crazy rollercoaster isn't it.
Anyhoo have a good day everyone & hope no ones too sick!!

hanflan · 22/09/2016 09:48

blessed Good luck with scan, show us a pic if you get one!

newyork are you proper bleeding now? So sorry :(

hanflan · 22/09/2016 09:51

I am nowhere near properly "showing" but at 8+4 my waist is definitely expanding. My skinny jeans are starting to cut in and get very uncomfortable. So I've bitten the bullet and ordered some maternity jeans for next day delivery! Same ones as I had last time round as they were so so comfy, I lived in them for as long as possible after I gave birth too as I loved them so much haha

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/09/2016 09:55

Thinking of you Badgerbird and Blessed.

Thanks for the bra tips pukekos, it's getting desperate so I have to get something comfy to wear! Had a feeling they might keep growing. Who do you recommend for maternity clothes hanflan? I'm a total newbie. But DH is giving me daily updates on how I look slightly different....

I think he means my boobs and bum are both getting bigger and I grow a belly every night at around 6pm. All of which is a total shock so early on. I haven't put on any weight but things seem to be in slightly different places this week.

hanflan · 22/09/2016 09:58

anne for tops and general casual stuff I got loads from ASOS and New Look. Bargains and really nice stuff. For jeans I would go for H&M Mama skinny jeans, with the over the bump band (they stay up better haha). Lots of people recommended the H&M skinny jeans to me last time and they were right!

AnneLovesGilbert · 22/09/2016 10:12

Thank you hanflan, god it's lovely having you lot around to answer my daft questions. Loads of my friends have children but we're not planning to tell anyone for a while and it's priceless getting tips and advice from you all.

I love asos so that's good news. And H&M! Buy my normal size if the only changes are (evening) belly and boobs?

PeachIcedT · 22/09/2016 11:19

Sorry to hear that newyork and wishing you success very soon.

Also good luck to all awaiting imminent tests.

I've got a question - I have an initial GP appointment for next week but is there any point going, would it be better to just self-refer to the maternity department at the hospital? I guess I just don't know what extra the GP appointment would offer and would rather not take up one unnecessarily.

Streaky17 · 22/09/2016 11:40

peach it probably depends on what the surgery policy is. I told a GP on the phone (as I was asking another question), he cancelled the gp appt I had booked and gave me contact details of the midwives.
Maybe the dragons receptionists can help?
Anyway that's my story. Smile

Damson9 · 22/09/2016 11:48

I think these days the GP's appointment is pretty pointless. They don't even do a test to check you are pregnant seeing as home ones are so accurate these days.

All mine did was take my details to pass on to the midwives and check I was taking folic acid.

If I'd have known it was going to be such a non-event, I'd probably have just gone direct to the midwives! Grin

hanflan · 22/09/2016 11:53

I would call and ask. Some GPs insist you see them first, many just say to call the midwives directly. I had to see the GP last time round (it was totally pointless haha) but this time when I phoned they just gave me the midwives contact details to sign up with them!

teainbed · 22/09/2016 12:02

peach if you've got any other health problems like thyroid or are on any medication like anti-depressants then see the GP but otherwise just self refer.

fempsych · 22/09/2016 12:13

Think in depends where you are. We have to go through GP (epic pointlessness) and aren't allowed midwifed phone number until we have done this :-)

MissMooMoo · 22/09/2016 12:26

I rang my surgery and told the reception that I needed to book with midwives and she said I have to see GP first Hmm

FeelingBlessed77 · 22/09/2016 12:27

Hello ladies. I'm going to be leaving you now. I wish you all good luck in the next 9 months. Unfortunately the scan showed no pregnancy in the womb.

Badgerbird · 22/09/2016 12:53

Feeling I'm so so sorry to hear that, I hope you will have the support you need in RL and I wish you luck in the future Flowers

MissMooMoo · 22/09/2016 13:03

PeachIcedT · 22/09/2016 13:43

Feeling I'm sorry to hear of that news but I wish you all the best in the future.

hanflan · 22/09/2016 13:44

Oh feeling I am so sorry to hear that x

PeachIcedT · 22/09/2016 13:46

Thanks for your appointment advice all. I went to the GP and the receptionist confirmed they don't really do anything extra in the appointment unless you have concerns - she said if I would self refer they'd in fact be grateful! So that's what I've done which has freed up an appointment for someone who needs it. Thanks everyone!

4sacharm · 22/09/2016 14:06

So sorry feeling Flowers

Can I join you I have been reading for a while but a bit apprehensive o joining as I had a miscarriage in July at 10 weeks..

I got my positive 3 weeks and ago and had a small bleed straight away but I had a scan this morning and saw a baby and a heartbeat.

Baby no 3 due 13th May.
