May 2017 - anybody out there?

Hi

I just found out at the weekend that I'm pregnant, this will be no. 2. Had no idea how far gone I was as I had just had AF 7th Aug but after a very early scan this morning it looks like I've conceived since then...very surprised as HPT is seriously strong and I got 5 +ve OPK's last week which by the scan I would have only just conceived at that point.

Very much a waiting game at the moment and back in 2 weeks for another scan. If I am indeed only 3 weeks then I have pretty much the same due date as I had for my DD Grin only 1 year apart. Let the crazy times commence!

Anyone else this early in pregnancy and due in May 2017?

Morning ladies

Well the nausea has stepped up today. Didn't think I would be spending the morning of my wedding anniversary with my head in toilet but there you go. Guess it'll be peppermint tea and crackers for me today!

SunnyInMay · 18/09/2016 12:24

Welcome everyone!

When you have a booking appointment seems to vary from area to area so don't worry if you've not had one yet. Where I am they don't see anyone until 10 weeks so I still have a way to go yet.

Just took a clearblue with conception indicator and relieved to see it flash up with 3+ weeks Smile

fempsych · 18/09/2016 12:45

Hi all. Struggling to keep up with the thread already. I need to kick myself and book a Dr app/midwife but I need to change GP's first and getting the forms filled in and handed in seems like too much work 😀

LillyBugg · 18/09/2016 13:46

Oh I'm not worried at all :) where I live we don't see the GP first, you just book straight in with the midwife around 8-9 weeks. I'm only 4+5 so seems too early to even bother making that appointment. I'll probably call in a couple of weeks time. So many of you seem to have nausea already...I know it's coming I'm just anxiously waiting each day for it to hit lol. Last time I only really felt sick around weeks 6-9 from what I remember. Hopefully I'll be lucky again this time.

jennymac31 · 18/09/2016 13:56

Lillybugg - nausea didn't hit me until I was 6-9 weeks with dd and even then I wasn't ever actually physically sick until I in labour. I'm 5+1 with baby no 2 and didn't expect the sickness to start already. They do say every pregnancy is different! I just hope it nausea/sickness calms down before I go on holiday on Tuesday.

talulahbelle · 18/09/2016 14:13

No sickness here yet. Is like a bit just for reassurance though.

I'm suffering with allergies today, I thought the hayfever season had passed but obviously not quite with all this warm weather. Need to figure out what (if anything) I can take.

Welcome all newbies, nice to have you joining us. My antenatal group from DD (which started on here) are still really good friends and support. We've had a group camping trip and Xmas nights out, as well as meet ups all over the country. I hope this group is just a good Smile

FoxMulder · 18/09/2016 14:17

I have my booking appointment tomorrow even though I am only 6 weeks. I think I told them I would be 8 weeks because I worked it out wrong so I hope they don't turn me away!

CinnamonTwist · 18/09/2016 16:14

My booking in is on Friday, my Midwife said to work it out from my miscarriage, which would technically put me at 9+2, but I am sure I am a week(ish) behind that, so nearer 8wks. There's no way I ovulated when I normally would have done as we completely avoided that week and a few days around it (as we were told to ideally wait a cycle before trying again, it was partly by chance partly by choice we missed my supposed 'FW' and neither of us wanted to use condoms for the rest of the time as we DO want a baby after all!) so I must've ovulated at least 6 days later than normal! We weren't exactly disappointed when I got the result Grin but it was a bit of a surprise!

CinnamonTwist · 18/09/2016 16:16

Forgot to say: welcome to all the newbies, it's getting lovely and busy on here now. I'm not very good at keeping up at the weekends as we are doing a lot to our house (well DH is, I'm officially banned after having a MC last time. If he even sees me think about going near something heavy I get a lecture!) so I'm a bit distracted at the weekends.

ImogenTubbs · 18/09/2016 20:52

Hope everyone is feeling ok and not too anxious. This bit's just a waiting game, isn't it? I'm registering with health centre on Tuesday and can then book a first appointment and find out whether my care is covered (currently spending time in Europe and a bit confused about where / how to get the right care atm!)

Does anyone else have cold-like symptoms? I realise I could just have, you know, a cold, but I've been sneezing and had a runny nose all week!

ginandcake · 18/09/2016 21:07

Not now Imogen but I did at the beginning. It was actually one of the symptoms that made me think I was pregnant because I had it with both my previous pregnancies.

Are you planning on having the baby where you are now or in the UK?

ImogenTubbs · 18/09/2016 22:08

Thanks ginandcake - good to know.

Tbh, it's a bit up in the air atm. We're just in Europe, but I believe the European Health Card only covers emergency care in pregnancy, the same with travel insurance, and private health insurance only covers maternity care if you've had the policy for at least a year before falling pregnant. Which I haven't. So may end up having to do it all in UK, which would be difficult. Anyway, it all remains to be seen! Hopefully I can get some answers this week and then we can start making some kind of plan. Confused

Northernexile · 18/09/2016 22:40

I've been very snotty too Imogen, I'm always quite hayfevery, but it's very bad at the minute and I've been told to avoid loratadine if possible. Using a nasal spray thing which isn't doing much good!

AnneLovesGilbert · 18/09/2016 23:08

Beconase is safe to use but it takes gross, really floral, and doesn't work as well as sudafed which I miss!

Keep thinking I still have hay fever but it's sneezing and itchy eyes, neither that bad, but don't remember having hay fever this late in the year before.

My boobs have reached their most epic proportions. Going to have to stump up for news bras this week. Thanks for the Amazon rec for soft sleeping ones, they look fab.

I've self referred for booking in appointment. I'm 5 weeks based on dates but as I have a short cycle if they go by a normal 28 day cycle they'll think I'm 4 weeks.

Anyone had that, where you know they'll say the dates are different from what you know?

lullaby23 · 19/09/2016 00:39

Welcome new ladies & congrats!

I am also overseas and it is a private healthcare system but luckily we are covered by DH's medical insurance through work. I am booked in with the Dr we had last time for 7 weeks and will have a scan then. After that it's 4-weekly appointments which was great last time but maybe not so fun with DS always in tow this time!

Adventuregame · 19/09/2016 05:14

Yes Anne I knew they'd say different as I have a 35/42 day cycle but I knew when I ovulated so I just told them my period was 2 weeks before that and didn't mention the long cycles !

Jingles80 · 19/09/2016 08:50

Hello to all the newbies and welcome!

Sorry it's been a while since I last said hello, this week has been a loop the loop hormonal roller coaster - I've never suffered from PMT but I think I now know what it's like! Is anyone else struggling with mood swings? I can hear myself being grouchy and irrational to my DH and I hate myself for it but I'm finding things that would be water off a ducks back to me before are now getting to me. I'm also not sleeping well which isn't helping. Trying to take the dog for long walks everyday to tire me out plus have cut caffeine completely but am still waking up a few times a night and not getting back to sleep for a while. It sure makes the day in the office harder!

Any useful tips to manage this are much appreciated! I was thinking of trying a few drops of Bach rescue remedy before bed as that's calmed me in the past.

Happy Monday to everyone Smile

FoxMulder · 19/09/2016 09:21

I feel coldy too. I have a really blocked nose and it's horrible. Also I am so burpy! And I feel like there's something tight around my throat which is also horrible.

MissMooMoo · 19/09/2016 09:27

I have had post nasel drip since just before I got my BFP,its awful and apparently normal. Yuk!

user1474185230 · 19/09/2016 10:20

Hey Ladies,

Just found out this week I'm pregnant with baby no 2 which I'm really nervous about more than I was with baby no 1! My DS is 19 months old currently.

I tested positive 5 days before AF was due but so faint and it just got darker today so I've already been stressing!! Haha. Tested early due to early nausea at 8 & 9dpo! Anyone else had this?

Looking forward to our journey together!

Xx

I'm due 28th of May (my grandma's birthday which is nice).

user1474185230 · 19/09/2016 10:23

Hi Jingles80,

I suffered with sleep in my 1st pregnancy. Do you go on your mobile before bed? It's crazy but I cut out ipad and mobile phone from 6pm and I also used a lavender based cream on my stomach for stretch marks and I started to sleep a bit better xx

SunnyInMay · 19/09/2016 10:28

Congrats user and welcome to the group.

Aww that's lovely being due on your grandma's birthday. Have you shared the news with anyone yet?

My only early symptom was extreme tiredness but with a 3 year old and 18 month old that's nothing new!

Sunflower30 · 19/09/2016 10:29

Hi ladies and congratulations to you all! I'm 5 weeks with dc3. Feeling very sorry for myself today as I'm full of cold and feeling pregnant lady tired and nauseous too Sad although I have ds1 at school and ds2 napping so at least I can wallow in peace for an hour or so!

4sacharm · 19/09/2016 10:39

I was 6 weeks yesterday going my lmp, but I monitored my temperatures and know approximately when I ovulated so I think I will be 6 weeks on Friday. I usually have my booking appointment around 8 weeks. This period of time is really really dragging. So tired of monitoring symptoms and what they may or may not mean and kicker watch, I forgot about it!

SunnyInMay · 19/09/2016 11:03

4sacharm tell me about it! I seem to have known for ages and I'm not even 6 weeks yet. Just wishing the weeks away and pondering booking an early scan to break up the time.
