Hi

I just found out at the weekend that I'm pregnant, this will be no. 2. Had no idea how far gone I was as I had just had AF 7th Aug but after a very early scan this morning it looks like I've conceived since then...very surprised as HPT is seriously strong and I got 5 +ve OPK's last week which by the scan I would have only just conceived at that point.

Very much a waiting game at the moment and back in 2 weeks for another scan. If I am indeed only 3 weeks then I have pretty much the same due date as I had for my DD Grin only 1 year apart. Let the crazy times commence!

Anyone else this early in pregnancy and due in May 2017?

Omg Oracle I would kill for an oreo ice cream right now! The children I nanny for had one tonight after tea, only 3 in a box and 3 children, I was drooling.
Had lots of lower back pain and twinges today,I hope thats normal!

Dsis who is also pregnant had a nasty turn yesterday and fainted in the city centre, she is ok thank god! Got a scan and her and her dp have found out they are having a little boy :) I always thought I would keep it a surprise until the birth but I already want to know! How about everyone else?

Streaky17 · 12/09/2016 20:19

Hi can I join? My due date is around 22nd may. Its my first so I don't have a clue.
I spoke to a doctor on the phone today as I needed to check if I can still have some other tests next week.
He told me to go straight to the midwife, so I'm going to fill in forms there tomorrow.
No symptoms apart from sore boobs for the last week and feeling a bit rough when I get hot.

CinnamonTwist · 12/09/2016 20:54

I am going on holiday at the beginning of November and was starting to think about a book to take with me, and looking around at books to read in general, any of you with previous DCs have any particular recommendations for pregnancy/ first time parents books??

shimmysparkles · 12/09/2016 21:47

Hi Cinnamon, I really liked a miriam stoppard one on pregnancy as was short and simple just outlining week by week baby and mum's growth/ changes but tbh can get all that online. There was another one but can't remember name of it now. I lent it to friend but can't ask for it back yet or she will guess! Will let you know in a few weeks! Maybe just relax with chick lit and read nearer the time? I was too scared until about 7 months last time to read too much about labour!

TheOracleAtSelfie · 12/09/2016 21:49

cinnamon

Pregnancy:
Expecting Better by Emily Oster (really the only pregnancy book you need to read IMO) though the labour but needs additional reading

Birth books:
Ina May's Guide to Childbirth is a MUST READ
Spiritual Midwifery by Ina May Gaskin (very 70's but mindblowing)
The Secrets of Birth by Kicki Hansard
Gentle birth, gentle mothering (can't remember who it's by)

Baby books:
Baby Calm by Sarah Ockwell-Smith

lalaland1985 · 12/09/2016 22:39

Can I join? My due date is 06/05. I got my BFP on Tuesday last week. This will be our first child. It was also our first cycle trying to conceive!

I have sore breasts, either vivid dreams or insomnia and a bit nauseous until late afternoon. Not too bad. So excited Grin

IAmSeriousAndDontCallMeShirley · 12/09/2016 23:06

Cinnamon

I loved the DK book called the day by day pregnancy book (or something close to that).
It's really informative, lots of great accurate information rather than the options you get in others. Also one page per day is easy and I loved coming home to read how the baby had developed that day.

Congrats

AnneLovesGilbert · 12/09/2016 23:21

Hi everyone, I'm 4 weeks with DC #1, been TTC 7 months and, like MissMooMoo, had early mc last cycle and no AF since then.

Got bfp on Saturday and got 2-3 weeks on a CB today. Starting to feel real and I feel like utter crap, which I didn't have last cycle with mc, so feeling positive!

EDD 20 May. It feels very fragile and not sure when I'll stop panicking about something going wrong but I've been saying positive affirmations about trusting my body to grow a healthy baby, proper hippy! And it's been helping.

Main symptoms are epic nausea and watering mouth for couple of hours a day, feeling shattered, smelling everything for miles around and hot flushes.

Sonnet18 · 13/09/2016 06:56

Welcome new people!
I am still pretty symptomless but I didn't have many symptoms at this stage last time. I did a clearblue digi today and got 2-3 weeks...am I being silly but I thought it would've been a 3+ by this stage? I'm 5 and a half weeks? I'm guessing it doesn't hugely matter but still wanted to see the 3+!!

ImogenTubbs · 13/09/2016 07:55

Bit late to the party, but can I join, please? Just got my BFP this morning after 20 months of trying. I burst into tears when I showed it to DH - very happy, just overwhelmed! This is second time around for me but I've forgotten everything (DD is 3). I will read all your stories today and then probably post loads of questions - so much to think about!

FoxMulder · 13/09/2016 08:21

I second Sarah Ockwell Smith for parenting books. The Gentle Sleep Book is good for realistic expectations of baby sleep, if you're thinking that far ahead! Where are you going on holiday cinnamon?

FoxMulder · 13/09/2016 08:21

Congratulations imogen!!

MissMooMoo · 13/09/2016 08:30

sonnet I have read online that those digi tests with the weeks indicators can be wrong, some people never get 3+
Positive thoughts

MissMooMoo · 13/09/2016 08:32

Anne nice to see you here, I am also due on the 20th.
Thinking good thoughts for both of us (well everyone really!)
I am also shattered! Getting up to wee 3x a night, both signs I didn't get much of last time.

jennymac31 · 13/09/2016 08:50

Miss moo-moo - I found out the sex of my dd the first time round so am definitely going to find out the sex this time but am gonna have to wait until the new year! Such a long time.

jennymac31 · 13/09/2016 08:57

Does anyone know of any good pregnancy audio books that they can recommend?

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/09/2016 09:06

Morning everyone. Hey MissMooMoo, lovely thoughts back to you Smile

I'm shattered because DH, who I adore, nearly pushed me to homicide last night with his snoring Angry

Feeling slightly queasy and my nipples are huge but otherwise feeling bit more normal today.

I'm using Ovia pregnancy as I liked it when TTC. Anyone else on an app?

MissMooMoo · 13/09/2016 09:31

Also using Ovia app, pregnancy + for the lovely graphics and one called pocket midwife which I really like as it was developed by 2 midwives who work on the NHS so it is british based with telling you what to expect at each appointment and UK based websites for information.

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/09/2016 10:11

Ah, like the idea of a UK one as well as updates on my baby being the size of a poppyseed! Wink

Sorry you're so shattered. Are you reassured by more symptoms this time around?

MissMooMoo · 13/09/2016 10:47

Yes feeling very reassured, also test line was as dark as control line this time at 4+1 so I feel much better.
Underwire bras are so painful/annoying. I have just been to mothercare to buy a bra without wires and the woman could not believe the size of my boobs when I told her im only in the first week! Bursting out of my normal bras.

MissMooMoo · 13/09/2016 10:48

Meant to add do you feel like this one will stick for you too?

lottesuz8 · 13/09/2016 10:52

Hello newbies. I'm now 7 weeks and a couple days and have my first booking appointment next week. Anyone know what to expect? Exciting.

Sonnet18 · 13/09/2016 11:19

Hello lottesuz! The booking appointment is about an hour long where they ask you everything about everything, they weigh and measure your height, ask where you plan to have the baby, take bloods and blood pressure and that's it. I need to take my dd to my booking appointment next week as DH is working...i'll be racing through mine as she'll not sit still for two mins never mind an hour!!

AnneLovesGilbert · 13/09/2016 11:23

I'm feeling very optimistic MissMooMoo, less symptomy today but the hot flushes, nausea and smell sensitivity have been super strong for over a week. My boobs haven't got any bigger yet I don't think but my nipples are obscene!

Glad you got some comfy bras.

That's exciting lottesuz! Did you phone your GP surgery, tell them you're pregnant and then they book you in? Is it with a midwife or GP?

Does the scan get booked in at that appointment?

I have so many questions! At what point do you tell the surgery?

Sonnet18 · 13/09/2016 11:26

Booking appointment is with a midwife. Unless any issues, you'll never a see a doctor. Where I am you see the midwife before the booking appointment to organise your scan. I saw mine yesterday. It was fine, pretty uneventful. My booking appointment is next week.
