I can't tell if I have a definite bump or if I'm just still bloated and chubby. Bah. Hopefully at some point soon it will pop properly.

We're having another scan tomorrow at 17+1. Mainly because I am anxious about baby still definitely being in there. I've also become mildly obsessed with nub/skull theory but cannot for the life of me tell what I might be having ARGH! Don't actually want to find out (well I secretly do but we won't be) but I want to just knoowwww...

Anyone else feel like that?

topmammy · 28/08/2016 19:52

Yes I want to know CeeCee Grin Mainly as I just want to have the surprise early but also I want to know whether to hang on to DD'so clothes/shoes or have a clear out. I posted my scan picture on the nub theory Facebook group but it's still with the admins at the moment I think as I haven't seen it Hmm Not sure you can even see a nub on mine tbh. I've been comparing this scan with DD's 12 scan but I still have no idea haha.

Naschkatze · 28/08/2016 20:31

Marjory I found pregnacare made me a bit queasy so now I take it in the evening and then sleep it off!

I've already put on about 10lb which is a lot for me as I'm fortunate to usually stay fairly stable! I've been lucky in terms of not suffering with sickness but I had to snack all the time to keep nausea at bay so that's what's done it. My 'bump' is all hula hoops and pickled onion monster munch, I'm sure of it Grin

Hope everyone is having a good weekend.

mrschn · 28/08/2016 20:56

Has anyone else had any Brixton hicks contractions? I'm 17+2 and had a whopper this evening not long after eating a rather large portion of trifle at a BBQ. Was so odd, I didn't have any with my last pg so was surprised to have one now and so early (but the good old internet says from 16 weeks so...)

topmammy · 28/08/2016 21:10

mrschn I didn't have any BH last time either. I'm a bit nervous about getting them this time though as I'm breastfeeding while being pregnant, eek Confused I wonder if feeding might trigger them.

twocatsandatoddler · 28/08/2016 21:19

mrschn I went on holiday to New York at around 16-17 weeks last time and walked everywhere, and found that when I did too much walking I got BH contractions, but I had no idea what they were as I didn't realise you could get them so early! None so far this time, I'm 17+3 now.

kikisdelivery · 28/08/2016 23:00

Evening all! Checking in and catching up! I have been away for a couple of days in London with the OH. Yesterday lunchtime was spent in a shopping centre having a properly tearful meltdown over quite literally nothing, but more on that tomorrow! For now it's time for bed because we drove and my brain is knackered from road-concentration.

Shellbell0403 · 29/08/2016 07:30

16 week app this morning and also app with the consultant... rather nervous!!

Evergreen17 · 29/08/2016 08:37

Ahhh ladies reading here about your bubbas moving and the bump growing Sad I have nada. 16 weeks today and no bump, just slightly fat. And no movement. I am so worried Sad DH says bubba is fine but I dont know... No bump nothing... This is my first pregnancy.

Ceecee let us know how the scan goes, I am sure it will be good and I wish I had booked one (trying so save a bit)

Sometimes I do get this stick under and behind my belly button, worse when I am walking Hmm

And I also just worried about something. I have been limiting my caffeine to one cup (homemade so 1shot) a day. Will this be a problem for bubba????? From Expecting better it seems ok but just read something else on Ovia. Anyone?

About to go on the scales. Scary. I have been eating way too much.

Shell let us know how it goes!

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 29/08/2016 08:39

Hi all, I'm 17+3 today . I got some leggings from primark the other day, they're really stretchy and I just got the size up and wear them under bump. They're still a little big now but I reckon they'll do the trick over winter. I've also ordered 4 new dresses, all warmer long sleeved bodycon type things in the size up to keep me going over winter. I got maternity tights to, as someone who wears tights a lot I have no idea why I've never bought them, love them!

My nipples are quite dry to and have gone much darker.

I've been such a grump this week and feel bad for being snappy. Just can't drift off at night then I finally get to sleep around 1-2 and wake for the loo around 4 then the kids are up for the day around 6.30. Just feel tired out x

twocatsandatoddler · 29/08/2016 08:49

Don't worry evergreen, the reason I have a massive bump and can feel movements is because this is my second pregnancy. With my first I wasn't feeling anything at this stage, and I had a small bump but not very noticeable. With your first it's entirely normal to not be showing and not be feeling movements.

Also a cup of coffee will be absolutely fine. I'm not a massive fan of the Ovia app advice as it's American and they have different guidelines - they're really strict on caffeine over there, but the NHS says a small amount is fine, and Expecting Better more than backs that up. I have two coffees and a tea a day, at least!

FlipperSkipper · 29/08/2016 08:52

We went to tell the in laws this weekend and I am so upset. His mum had the cheek to say 'well this shows you should never give up' - we've had 5 IVFs, 2 miscarriages over the last 5 years and after the last miscarriage I was suicidal and telling my husband to leave me. Don't bloody talk to me about a situation you don't understand, yes it's good we didn't give up but if we had it would have been for the sake of my mental health.

I also found out that she's told some random bloody woman that I'm infertile and why, I feel like I'm the gossip of the town now, and when we left she patted my belly which really upset me. I don't have a bump yet, and the bit she patted was just under my boobs, so nowhere near where the baby would be. I'm fat and very self conscious about it so she was basically fondling my flab. That and the comments about 'we'll see how fat your belly gets' have really upset me. Hopefully we won't see them until Christmas now, and I'll insist on it being a one night visit only. I want to have a good relationship with them, and for my child to have a good relationship with them, but it's hard.

wispaxmas · 29/08/2016 08:59

OMG flipper, AngryAngryAngry

Evergreen, in my first pregnancy I had no bump until after the. 20wk scan, and even then it looked like it could've just been flab. I'm not feeling movements yet and I'll be 18 weeks on Wednesday, and that's will me supposedly knowing what to look out for, so don't worry at all. Also, I'm currently drinking my second coffee of the day!

Sunshineface123 · 29/08/2016 09:00

evergreen in the same boat as you, tiny bump and absolutely no movement felt...yet. 16 weeks Tomo. I'm pretty sure for first babies it's ok tho! I'm a tea drinker, used to drink about 7 a day, have now cut down to 2/3 and then drink de caff. Your coffee will be absolutely fine. Will post recent bump pic so you don't need to worry! (Getting bit fed up of people saying where's the bump!!) Smile

FlipperSkipper · 29/08/2016 09:02

Sorry for the broadcast only, I'm just so upset!

Evergreen I'm being careful with caffeine, one normal tea a day and the rest decaf, but that's more to do with me not finding a reason to blame myself if something goes wrong, rather than anything else if that makes sense. I had a terrible time after my losses blaming myself for them.

Sunshineface123 · 29/08/2016 09:04

Feel for you flipper hope your not too upset by the visit, sounds hard. Confused

Evergreen17 · 29/08/2016 09:21

Stick? Stitch!

MarjorySunshineDust · 29/08/2016 09:21

evergreen I'm another one who didn't really get a bump until 20 weeks first time. I also didn't feel anything until about 23 weeks as I had an anterior placenta, but even without that it is normal to feel movements later first time round. I've only just started feeling a little movement this week (week 17) Please don't worry.

As for caffeine, I'm having one cup of regular tea in the morning and that's all but only because I've really gone off it! I would happily have one or two more a day or a coffee if I fancied it.

She sounds like a nightmare flipper sorry you had to put up with that.

Shellbell0403 · 29/08/2016 09:27

evergreen i don't really have a bump either, just looks like a wee podgy bit haha. Waist thickened though. We won't feel movement yet until 20 weeks or so..

keepingup i have leggings from primark also! Love them! So comfy and stretchy!!

Anyone looking for jeggings, I got ones from Asda yesterday and they have an elasticated band at waist and so comfy! Recommend them!! Only £12 also!

Just out app, never checked hb or anything but been discharge from consultant woohoo!!

Evergreen17 · 29/08/2016 09:29

Thanks twocats Smile. It is harder to be a newbie Halo
Yes I would think one cup is acceptable. Maybe because over there they drink it by the gallon? Grin I was recommended one or two cups when I had terrible anxiety and insomnia so I think it is ok now too

Flipper so AngryAngry at your MIL. Reminds me of things people tell me when I am going through one of my depression episodes "life is good" "you dont have it so bad" "look on the bright side" sadly the only thing that works is to try to let those comments slide pass you or the feelings are too much. Then when you are calm and not emotional about it anymore, please definitely do tell her something!!!

Ahhhh thanks wispa! I hope bubba is all fine then. I am also quite tall, so maybe that contributes too

Thanks for pic sunshine I have a bit more Hmm insulation than you Grin so I do have a bit of a belly but not a bump either!

Evergreen17 · 29/08/2016 09:31

Thanks for the info marjory so maybe I just have to wait for the 20 weeks scan and see bubba then. The nerves!

I went on the scales and I put on 3.8 kilos so now BMI says overweight. I hope I am not in troubleConfused

Evergreen17 · 29/08/2016 09:33

Congrats shell!!! Smile

Any Londoners here? Any idea of where we can find maternity section in H&M and other places???? Next???
I work in the kensington area Hmm

Naschkatze · 29/08/2016 09:33

Evergreen I'm a bit behind you 14+3 but I haven't felt anything yet either. Can't wait to but I'm trying not to worry. I've got a bit of a tummy but I'm sure that's because I've put on weight from all the snacking! When is your 16 week appointment?
In terms of caffeine, you'll be fine! They say limit to 200mg a day, one mug of coffee will be less than that. I'm not a coffee drinker but am having one or two cups of normal tea and then switch to decaf.

FriendlyGhost · 29/08/2016 10:21

Evergreen I only have a bump because it's my second. Also my body seems to love clinging onto weight when I'm pregnant. I didn't feel movements until after 18 weeks last time.
I know there's H&M maternity on Oxford Street and also in both Croydon stores.
I'm going to have to cancel/postpone my appointment this week. I hope I can re book. I'm having to make an emergency dash to see my 97 year old grandma who is in hospital. Unfortunately I think she probably won't make it out Sad I've been avoiding caffeine (mostly because I went off it) but I'm going to have a strong coffee this morning as dd was awake half the night and I spent the rest of it worrying.

FriendlyGhost · 29/08/2016 10:44

Flipper that sounds absolutely horrendous. Hopefully you don't have to see her too often Angry
