Cinderella, love having a new pram, I couldn't stop myself from selling my bee+ and buying a shiny new bee3 last week Grin

Marjory, my NCT experience was very similar to yours, the group didn't become super close, and the content of the course didn't prepare us for the complications we encountered during labour. I was really up front and said that I knew I'd probably end up opting for an epidural, but all the others in the group went away assuring themselves they would all have water births in the MLU with calming MP3 playlists playing, low mood lighting, swaying through contractions with their husbands. I suppose there are experiences like that, but none of my NCT group had one.

sunshine, I'm taking pregnacare because I wanted an all-in multi-Vit with Vit d and iron as well, so yeah, still technically taking folic acid! Not sure what the guidelines are on it, though.

Diva, I definitely know of people who used a full cot in their bedroom from the beginning, I'm sure it would be cosy enough with a sleepyhead or similar.

wonder, Black Friday is the day after American Thanksgiving, so I think it's the 3rd (or 4th) Friday in November. It's the US's traditional crazy Christmas shopping day, so should be plenty of time before our babies are born and probably a good way to get some deals!

GinIsIn · 20/08/2016 13:58

diva - we are planning on the giggle 2 as well. It says that the carrycot is suitable for occasional overnight sleeping, so should be fine for daytime naps...

Shellbell0403 · 20/08/2016 14:32

Tesco are doing the equivalent to the sleepy head for £45 I think...

London can I ask, your round ligament pains what's it like?

ScottyAl · 20/08/2016 14:52

shell, I'm feeling pregnant today. Well, I'm feeling ill and tired anyway! Thought I'd got lucky and avoided all of this so hopefully this is just a one off.

wm3010 · 20/08/2016 14:58

I really liked NCT, we covered all pain relief etc and the teacher was lovely and yotally not judgemental. I think it depends a lot on the teacher really. Plus I am still in touch with all the parents, most of the mums are either pg again or have already had second baby, more than two years since we did the course. We are not all best mates or anything but get on and it has been great to have people to moan to!

Shellbell0403 · 20/08/2016 15:02

scotty my heart burns kicked in aswell as the nausea. Having sore pains around the left hand side of my stomach/abdomen.. thinking it's round ligament pains but not sure?

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 20/08/2016 15:09

We're getting a co sleeper this time around as I've coslept and regretted not getting one each time lol. My youngest also creeps in our bed sometimes every night and I will feel safer of baby is still with me but in their own cot. My girls where in a toddler bed a month after they could walk (eldest walked at 11 months and youngest 9 months) so we don't actually use a cot for long so this seems the best option for us. I like to have a Moses basket on a stand for downstairs and the giggle 2 carry cot fits well on the stand we already have so I'll be using that in the day time. X

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 20/08/2016 15:12

I took my folic acid every day from when I started trying until 13 weeks. Now I just take a pregnancy multivitamin about 3 times a week. I have a healthy diet and make sure I'm getting plenty of the right stuff so happy with that. I lost alit of weight after having my youngest (still had a stone to lose though ) so I'm a lot more conscious of what I'm eating this time around. Put on four stone last time around! X

ScottyAl · 20/08/2016 15:19

shell, I think I had round ligament pains last week. Sort of like a stabbing sensation/cramp. Really uncomfortable but common I believe. They have all but disappeared now thankfully.

ScottyAl · 20/08/2016 15:20

And if you're worried, shell, phone the hospital who will put you mind at rest Smile

topmammy · 20/08/2016 18:18

I know it is a tad early but has anyone looked into newborn photoshoots? I had some photos taken by the Bounty photographer on day 2 last time in hospital but it felt rushed and DD was still in her babygrow and hat, I looked awful with no make up on and generally not in a fit state for a photoshoot what with trying to learn to breastfeed etc. The photos are nice of DD but not quite what I wanted. So this time I am determined to do it differently. I have booked someone local who is very in demand and she gets booked up quick. Just the small matter of the rest of pregnancy and giving birth to do now Grin

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 11:52

shell my round ligament pain felt like pulling. Literally I felt like things were being stretched - very different to other lady pain I'd previously had but it was painful enough it stopped me in my tracks while walking on holiday.

Thanks everyone for NCT insight. Sounds like who the instructor is makes a big difference. Ready my DH snorted at the 'learn to use the washing machine' comment. Are there really men still men in their 30s and younger who don't do housework?

Not sure what we'll choose for sleeping. I've never even heard of a sleepyhead! Must go google!

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 12:00

Okay, I've had the craziest weekend! It turns out my cats were acting crazy because they got fleas! They are basically house cats so have never had them before. I'm not sure how are cat sitter didn't notice. Anyway, Friday DH and I stayed up until 3 in the morning using flea combs to pick them all out and doing over the counter treatments.

Before knowing about the fleas we'd agreed to meet up with two sepearte groups of friends on Saturday afternoon and then in the evening. Got up early Saturday to take the cats to the vet and scrub the house (4 hours) top to bottom yo get rid of all the fleas before first guests arrived at 2pm. We then stayed out with our other friends until 2:30am.

Needless to say we are both now shattered! We are still in bed 😀

GinIsIn · 21/08/2016 12:04

EURGGGHH - car fleas are the WORST - they really are vicious little bastards! I hate to say it but usually you need something stronger than just a clean - they have a habit of getting inside mattresses, cushions, sofas etc unfortunately. I recommend the RIP flea spray, it's great!

Shellbell0403 · 21/08/2016 12:07

Sounds like a very busy and hectic weekend london I called the hospital and they said my pains sounded like round ligament pain...

So much bump seems to be intermittent... seems like a bump and then other times seems like flab! Anyone else have this joy?

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 21/08/2016 12:41

Sorry about the cats london at least you got to the source of the problem.

Yes shell in the morning I'm all proud of my firm bump then by evening I'm wondering why it's turned back to squish! Seeing as I was almost horizontal all day yesterday starting the worlds largest baby cross stitch aphabet, it can't be much to do with gravity, hmmm...

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 21/08/2016 12:43

Just spotted this by the way and thought it was amusing (nothing to do with us obviously!) m.thedailymash.co.uk/news/science-technology/mumsnet-hacked-with-tedious-parenting-crap-20150820101287

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 12:56

Yeah, we've bought some toxic spray stuff but I don't think they've gotten far as our cats were confined to certain parts of the house while we were away and they didn't have them before we left.

We've hot washed all the bedding in the house, vacuumed all the upholstery, and put borax down in the stairs ( the only place we have carpets) so I'm hoping that will be enough. We will have to vacuum every day for a month but I'd rather try that before using anything too toxic. Still if it doesn't work I'll definitely poison the bastards! The cats arson strong vet perscribed meds too so fingers crossed!

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 13:54

I should say its Borax substitute not actual Borax which of course is toxic and not available in the EU / UK!

Evergreen17 · 21/08/2016 15:29

Sorry about cat fleas. Sounds like a pain.

I dont have a bump but a belly that comes and goes. What is this about???
I am in no rush to get a bump but 15 weeks tomorrow and again the panic of "am I still pregnant?" I wonder if baby is all ok Sad anyone else???

Appointment with midwife 1st of September, we are meant to hear the heart then. Nerves

Always nerves! Sad

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 15:47

Yeah, I worry too. I wish thee were more scans! 8 weeks between scans is horrendous.

Evergreen17 · 21/08/2016 16:23

It is horrible isn't it Sad 5 weeks and a bit to my 20 weeks scan but already told the whole family and manager and have tiny teeny bubba clothes in the house

GinIsIn · 21/08/2016 16:25

My family are all dying to start buying clothes and things - I just want to hold off until the 20 week scan. We've bought a few toys, and ordered a baby monitor as it was on sale but it feels a bit tempting fate to buy too much yet...

Shellbell0403 · 21/08/2016 16:38

I keep wondering also... didn't want to say incase I was being over dramatic haha... I'm to scared to buy things aswell! Will wait until 20 week scan then start buying things

Keepingupwiththejonesys · 21/08/2016 17:35

Evening all. I had about 2 hours sleep last night so have just had an hour nap. Its very rare I nap but it was needed. My three year old was being sick all through the night and 1 year old wasn't 100% . both seem fine now and are keeping food and water down thankgoodness! I feel a little sickly but I think its because I'm tired rather than ill x
