We've been given some clothes. And I've started looking at what I'd like to get, but yes, holding off for now. (And for certain things maybe even waiting until Black Friday / Jan sales)

LondonGirl83 · 21/08/2016 17:59

I just bought some decor items (2 things) for the nursery today. I don't plan to buy most things until after 20 weeks. I love interior design though so I've enjoyed spending my lazy Sunday on Pinterest thinking about nursery design :)

I also looked into the Sleepyhead-- sounds like a good recommendation so I'm putting on the list. I also like to snuzpod. Does anyone have one with first DC?

wispaxmas · 21/08/2016 18:08

London, doing up the nursery was such a joy last time! Share your ideas!

wispaxmas · 21/08/2016 18:10

I've bought baby things in the summer sales. Not much as I already have a lot from last time, but I'm rather addicted to Polarn o Pyret and can't resist their newborn range, especially in a sale.

GinIsIn · 21/08/2016 18:11

We are planning on getting a snuzpod too Smile

Shellbell0403 · 21/08/2016 18:29

We are planning a snuzpod. Went to look today and baby's r us have a sale on everything but I'm still dubious to buy plus my uncle is buying ours for us 😀

Shellbell0403 · 21/08/2016 18:29

on getting a snuzpod too lol

CinderellaFant · 21/08/2016 18:34

I'm really upset this time that we won't have a nursery- we just don't have room. We are in a 3 bedroom house, DH & I have a room, DD has a room and DS has a room. We are looking to move but that won't be until mid next year. I'd love to have a nursery all ready for baby coming. I still have a Pinterest nursery board though- just incase I win the lottery in the next few months and can buy a bigger house! This is my favourite

London sleepyheads are brilliant!
Evergreen is your 1st September appointment at the hospital? I have one that day at the hospital! All my appointments are there because I'm classed as out of area.

Naschkatze · 21/08/2016 19:03

Agree it's a long time between scans. I'm only 13+2 so it's ages to 20 weeks! Planning on booking a private scan for around 16/17 weeks, just for reassurance.

I haven't bought anything at all yet. I will wait until after 20 weeks I think. It's making me nervous as gradually more people know (due to previous loss) and I don't really want to tell anyone else now!

Haven't looked into Sleepyheads - they sound popular though so will have to have a look.
Been looking at the Chico Next to me crib and will probably accept the offer of a second hand Moses basket for use downstairs. Does that sound plausible to anyone who has done this before?! I'm completely in the dark as to what we might need Confused

MarjorySunshineDust · 21/08/2016 20:58

Snuzpod looks good, we still have a baby bay cosleeper crib from first time round and will definitely use it again. Would recommend Sleepyheads to everyone!

I haven't bought a single thing yet. I've kept everything from dd so want to wait until until the next scan so I know all is ok and also the gender! Purely because I've got so many little girly dresses and things that I would like to use again, but if it's a boy this time they can be sold. DD has had a ridiculous amount of clothes really.

Nursery wise, DD is currently in the smallest room so ideally we will clear out the bigger spare room and move her into that. I'm not in a big hurry though as dd slept in our room until she was 2 (and any night now she gets the chance!). Am planning a massive sort out and declutter after the next scan.

Evergreen17 · 21/08/2016 21:11

Friendly no, mine is with midwife at gp surgery. Appointment twins again Grin!

Shellbell0403 · 21/08/2016 21:14

My 16 week app is 29th xx

divadee · 22/08/2016 07:39

Morning ladies.

Well little miss has made herself known with lots and lots of kicks and movements this weekend. Cold drinks definitely get her going in there. It is reassuring though.

I have my 20 week scan on the 12th September. Looking forward to that one. And hopefully my low lying placenta will of moved and cervix is still long so I can have the home birth or MLU birth I want.

ScottyAl · 22/08/2016 07:43

Morning ladies. Apologies but I haven't had chance to catch up with all the new posts. After a bit of advice/hand holding! I've had a shit weekend-tired, nauseas, achy and a horrendous pain in my ribs last night. I'm still feeling pretty shit (but not as shit) this morning and am contemplating phoning in sick. Should I or will work think I'm using pregnancy as an excuse to skive? In a teacher so my job is pretty full on and no chance of sitting quietly and trying to feel better. I've only been back a week and was only saying to them on Friday how well I was feeling Angry

Mysterycat23 · 22/08/2016 07:51

Scotty poor you. Sounds like what happened to me when I went back to work in first trimester. Went to bed at 7pm each night and spent a few weekends literally passed out on the sofa feeling like death warmed up. It is probably exhaustion from going back to work. Taking time off in pregnancy isn't an excuse it's necessary if you are experiencing extreme exhaustion which it sounds like you are. If you think you will be able to manage your time and energy to survive this full week then go for it, but if you need a day of recovery then sensible to do that now rather than push yourself any further if that makes sense.

In baby shopping news, spotted 3 muslins for £3.30 in primark! Still not sure what they're for but everyone says we'll need them :)

ScottyAl · 22/08/2016 07:59

Thanks, Mystery. I'm also wondering if it could be side affects from my whooping cough vaccine as I've really been feeling fine up until Friday night (had the vaccine Thursday night). I slept most of Saturday and Sunday and am still in bed now. I feel pathetic! I'm pretty sure I'd end up having to come home if I went in so think that's decision made. Must now find the energy to go downstairs, turn on laptop and set cover work for my classes. It's almost easier to go to work 😢

Dreamingoutloud7 · 22/08/2016 08:00

Scotty listen to your body, if work is too much for you today then that's fine, do not feel guilty!

Went baby window shopping yesterday, think we have decided on icandy peach, which I'm in shock over because I was convinced I'd hate icandy, no idea why, maybe because everyone has one so I was being a bit rebellious Grin
Nothing big will be purchased until October at earliest though.

ScottishSnowflake · 22/08/2016 08:04

Morning all - Scotty, so sorry to hear you're not doing too great. I have exactly the same symptoms and was just about to post to ask if it's normal - a lot of quick sharp pains beneath ribs, around stomach (last less than a second each time). Hoping these are just growing pains Sad

topmammy · 22/08/2016 08:26

Poor you Scotty I agree with phoning in sick, you and baby come first.

Mystery Yes definitely buy all the muslins! Grin Faye and Lou muslins are really good www.fayeandlou.co.uk/description-rainbow.html A bit pricey but more absorbant and wash well.

GinIsIn · 22/08/2016 08:26

Did anyone else think before getting pregnant "ooh yes, I will go to pregnancy yoga, and I will play my baby Mozart in the womb, and read it Shakespeare out loud" etc and now just think 'sod all that, I'm going to lie on sofa for 6 more months and eat hula hoops?

I used to run half marathons. Now I am so tired all the time I can't even be bothered to walk to the tube station!

kikisdelivery · 22/08/2016 08:47

morning all Smile I'm playing catch up again after a busy weekend!

Fenella your post made me laugh! All the Hula Hoops... especially the beef ones...

Ever and I think London, yes, I have exactly what you mentioned - the "am I really pregnant, is everything ok in there?" thing now that it's getting nearer to my next appointments. I've actually felt ok for a few days in terms of nausea so have been eating all the things I'd been missing because I hadn't been fancying them. It's so easy to be munching away on something and then think "Oh my god, what if I am eating this because there's some problem in there and all my symptoms are going or something" .... the waits between everything are scary!

My 20 week is 23rd Sept, and my 16 week is slightly early at about 15-4, and is tomorrow afternoon. So now I'm scared of the heartbeat thing....

twocatsandatoddler · 22/08/2016 08:59

Fenella I'm usually a runner too, but I'm struggling with the walk home from nursery with DS in the buggy so no idea how I'm going to cope when I'm 7-8 months! Once I get onto the sofa in the evening it's hard to get up again.

I'm sure I was fitter last time - I moved house around this stage and was unpacking and decorating and walking everywhere!

As an aside, seeing your name on this thread and watching the Olympic show jumping has made me want to pick up my copy of Riders!

FriendlyGhost · 22/08/2016 09:06

Fenella I felt exactly like this last time. I used to run several miles a day and fully intended to continue throughout pregnancy. I lasted until 5 weeks. This time I'm not even going to kid myself. I feel absolutely wiped out after busy weekend and an early start courtesy of dd. I fully intend to be as lazy as possible today.
Scotty if your body is telling you to rest then you probably need to. I feel worse when I'm tired so I'm sure it is a way of telling us to slow down. You're growing a human and that's the most important thing at the moment. I wish I had had the guts to call in sick last time. I carried on and it was miserable and nearly broke me. Don't feel guilty!
