I'm getting through a punnet of nectarines every couple of days topmammy. No wonder I'm windy and bloated!
I'm taking my vitamins when I remember Sunshine. Most days but not every day like before.

Wonderlust123 · 19/08/2016 22:24

I asked this a while back, and looked it up, though can't remember exactly what I found out! So many different things to figure out! It's most important for the first 3 months, but saying that I'm now taking a multivitamin for use throughout pregnancy, which also contains folic acid.

Wonderlust123 · 19/08/2016 22:29

Mystery, did you go to that with anyone? Sorry for the personal question, but most of the midwife appointments seem to be a bit pointless for the OH to attend. Although he might want to go this time to ask them about the PAPP A thing.

Bumblebee33 · 19/08/2016 22:58

Loving nectarines here too! Each week I buy a punnet intended for snacks for my 2 year old and end up eating nearly all of them :)

Naschkatze · 19/08/2016 23:27

Wow, I wonder what it is about nectarines, I've been exactly the same!

Still taking pregnancy vitamins which include folic acid, but not as religiously any more.

My 16 week appt is booked for a couple of weeks time, I don't think DH will come to this one.

Happy weekend everyone!

Dreamingoutloud7 · 20/08/2016 07:27

Woah 3 pages in a day!
I've booked my NCT classes, nice 300 quid to shell out on top of everything else Grin the more I hear about them the more I'm not sure they're for us, but they're paid now so I'll give them a go, I'm actually clueless when it comes to birth and new borns so every little bit of info will surely help? Although thankfully dh is more than knowledgable on the washing machine and tea making!

GinIsIn · 20/08/2016 07:34

They keep going on about me having a high BMI. I'm a bloody size 12!! I did try to point out that I already had massive boobs pre-pregnancy and now they've swelled to epic proportions did she not think that might be affecting my weight more than actual fat? Hmm

Phoebe - I would do it. But I would make sure I had my notes and hospital bag with me and checked the nearest hospital to each stop on the train! Good luck!

Shellbell0403 · 20/08/2016 07:59

How's everyone today? Random question... everyone feeling pregnant? Lol...

divadee · 20/08/2016 08:11

Morning ladies.

To those who have used the sleepyheads before...... We have a cot already (kept from 1st daughter who's now 18!!) and instead of having a Moses basket or crib can we just put baby straight into the normal size cot with the sleepyhead? The cot can fit in our bedroom so wouldn't be in a room by themselves.

Sunshineface123 · 20/08/2016 08:14

shell I know what you mean! Not always, sometimes forget!

Thanks for your comments ladies re vitamins, I'm not great at remembering them and only doing folic acid as the multivitamins didn't agree with me.

Have tossed up the idea of NCT some people I know says it was great but just paid £230 for hypnobirthing and def can't afford to pay for another class so will have to do without.

divadee · 20/08/2016 08:14

Oh and I should of added I've been awake for ages since little bubs decided to wake me up by what felt like her kicking me right in the foofoo!! A nice start to the weekend!

And I also should of added we have gone for the full packing service for our move on the 30th. It was only £200 more than us packing and this way they do literally everything. All I have to pack is the equivalent of a weekend bag for clothes and toiletries etc..... Whoop!!

Sunshineface123 · 20/08/2016 08:15

diva that sounds fine, all the research I did on sleepy head suggests you can! I want one they look so cosy!

divadee · 20/08/2016 08:22

sunshine thanks for that. They didn't have all these things for my first daughter so it's like I'm a first time mum again!!

I can't justify a Moses basket/crib and a sleepyhead for the cost to be honest. As they are in them for like 3 months. But the sleepyhead in the normal size cot would be doable for us. I will have a carrycot for the pushchair though so I suppose I could use that instead. Hhmmmmmm decisions.

Mysterycat23 · 20/08/2016 08:52

wonder no worries, I went on my own figured it would just be a mum health check nothing exciting Grin DH will come to 20 week scan but from what I gather the rest of the appointments are just keeping an eye on mum's health so I'm fine to go alone. Sooner or later I will have to develop the instinct to bring a bottle of wee to every appointment, think I'm hacking off the receptionist by forgetting and not doing it at home Blush

In other news, I am getting kicked and punched! Only 16 weeks. Last night one side of my bump was getting bashed so much it really hurt and noticeably stuck out! I've heard people say cold drinks wake the baby up, I was drinking iced water at the time! Anyone else being elbowed?

PhoebeGeebee · 20/08/2016 08:59

Re: NCT, I had every intention of doing it but my MW (who is lovely) told me about a thing in my town called The Baby Journey which is exactly the same, half the cost and run by two practicing midwives who have a much more 'open minded' view when it comes to labour and drugs and breastfeeding at the like. So I'm booked onto that and starting mid november

PhoebeGeebee · 20/08/2016 09:00

18 weeks on Tuesday and still no movements tetchy , feeling very left out!!!

Wonderlust123 · 20/08/2016 09:54

Diva, I asked someone at Mothercare about using the carrycot for the baby to sleep in for the first couple of months. They said it wasn't advisable. (Not saying they're right, I've got no idea! Just to let you know). I agree cost-wise it seems a bit much to be buying a moses basket / crib just for a few months. So, I'm thinking of getting a cot bed (which should last from 0-4 if I remember right), and a Sleepyhead (although I do think they seem very overpriced) and likewise, that will go in our room, to start with anyway. (Although we'll see how much room it'll take exactly :-/ !)

Shell, I've not felt pregnant from the start to be honest. Don't hate me, but I haven't had any symptoms! Other than being tired. Although, I did finish breakfast this morning and walk past the mirror and I suddenly seem to look like I've swallowed a bowling ball! Not sure about how long I'll be able to get away with baggy clothes at work for!

Thanks Mystery, I was wondering if I was being wrong to go by myself to them. Must stop doubting everything!!

Readyfortwo · 20/08/2016 10:00

I feel soo pregnant, baby is a proper wriggler & im going to the loo every 40mins. Hoping its just a case of waiting for if to move up a bit as I'm so uncomfortable at the moment. I'm sure I wasn't like this til at least 6mths last time!

divadee · 20/08/2016 10:03

Thanks wonder I was just discussing it with himself and we think depending on finances we will go with the cot and sleepyhead. As the sleepyhead can be used on the sofa etc.... During the daytime so will be easier. I thought as its number 2 for me it would be easier but so bloody much has changed!

Readyfortwo · 20/08/2016 10:33

I'm considering a sleepyhead too....looks like Amazon had a Black Friday deal on it last year so will def wait til then.

Wonderlust123 · 20/08/2016 10:38

Ooh good idea. When is Black Friday?

topmammy · 20/08/2016 10:38

I'm having my moses basket downstairs and swinging crib upstairs in my bedroom, both of which I'll pop the sleepyhead in. Not sure whether a sidecar type crib would be easier really like a bednest but that'd mean spending more money, when the sleepyhead is so expensive to start with.

I still just look like I've eaten waaay too many pies. Hoping the pregnant bump rather than bloat bump appears soon. I also feel so tired soon after getting up for the day (not helped by cosleeping toddler I guess). All I've done this morning is breakfast, wash my hair, get dressed, dishwasher and clean kitchen and I'm knackered.

twocatsandatoddler · 20/08/2016 10:39

diva I think it depends on the make of the pushchair whether the carrycot is suitable for overnight sleeping or not.

We have the Uppababy Vista and that one definitely is suitable as it has ventilation under the mattress. We used it as overnight bed when we were staying with others, and used a Moses basket at home, but the carrycot came in handy for downstairs naps so we didn't have to cart the Moses basket up and down stairs all the time.

Our Moses basket was £35 from John Lewis - we got their most basic one as I didn't want to spend a fortune on something we would only use for a few months. We'll use it again, but I'll probably get a new mattress which is under a tenner I think.

divadee · 20/08/2016 12:58

Thanks twocats I think the giggle 2 can be used overnight but not 100% sure. I think if we can get the sleepyhead on an offer sometime that will be the way to go with a full size cot. Then we could use the carrycot when visiting family etc...

Dreamingoutloud7 · 20/08/2016 13:15

I love the idea of the sleepyhead, good thinking on Black Friday deal ready
We were thinking of using the carrycot for downstairs sleeping (it is suitable) but not sure where I would keep it, do I keep the Pram set up to clip it onto or would it fit a Moses basket stand maybe, I'm sure dh doesn't put this much thought into baby stuff!
