Welcome to the new thread everyone, and runny, thanks for the title

maveta · 29/01/2007 19:13

Love the title!

No. of cats currently in house - 2 out of a possible 2.
Very good effort.

Katy44 · 29/01/2007 19:15

This could be like a Big brother type reality show

"Monday night and maveta's cats have decided to stay in. But one of them is sharpening her claws..."

OP posts:
maveta · 29/01/2007 19:19

LOL! Although really it would be "but one of them is licking his arse. Again"

runnyhabbit · 29/01/2007 19:22

glad to be of service although not sure how...

Katy44 · 29/01/2007 19:25

sounds very similar to the real BB - possibly a bit more intellectual
(Would like to point out the only reason I don't watch is as it's on too late )

Hello everyone - I like to get on the new threads early. This is only a quick post because, like Katy44, I too am ill yet again! Worst bout of flu I can remember having, ever! . Last one was just before Christmas so am feeling very unlucky. Spoke to mw today and cheered by the reassurance that all the fevers etc are absolutely fine at this stage of pgcy (for the baby, not for me!!) and I'm doing everything I can to look after myself. DH getting a little put upon tho.....

Talk again soon! When feel up for typing more.....

runnyhabbit · 29/01/2007 19:28

just found Ralf (our tortoiseshell cat) chasing a live mouse around the kitchen

ds thought it was the most funniest thing in the world. Picture the scene - ds chasing his heavily pregnant mum, who's chasing the cat, whose chasing a mouse out of the kitchen

hotlipsmummy · 29/01/2007 19:31

Just a quick post before I log off at work and heave my belly home...

did anyone see ER on E4 this week (repeated tonight on c4 I think)? Was at the mummies in Abbie's mums and babies group about the sling. I had heard about the possible bad side of the Bjorn tpye carrier but really...! Anyway - I've not been paying much attention to the "sling chat" so far as a friend is lending us her Bjorn carrier again but am beginning to wonder if I should be getting something else...

Katy44 · 29/01/2007 19:40

Oh Birdiebump...hope you're OK!
hotlipsmummy - I didn't see it - please explain!

OP posts:
Katy44 · 29/01/2007 19:42

"feeling better soon" would have made more sense

OP posts:
hotlipsmummy · 29/01/2007 19:51

Basically Abbie gets shunned by the group for using a "bad" sling! HATE that sort of behaviour by other mums - basically I thinkits a way of mums who used to work getting a bit of a power trip, or those who have rich husbands who think they are superior to everyone else...

Anyway must get off my soap box and go home!!

11weeksandcounting · 29/01/2007 19:51

Explain to me too please re ER and baby bjorn???

Runny - we have a service contract with British gas which covers the boiler, heating, plumbing and drains but unfortunately the boiler part is no longer available due to its age - we knew it would happen sooner or later - bugger! I would also highly recommend british gas cover - excellent service - did have appliance cover until recently but cost £230 year - decided could probably afford to repair/replace rather than having cover just in case (everything in house will suddenly pack up!)

I feel really big and heavy at the moment and struggling to reach feet - never happened in last two pgs!

Bramshott - get the stocking thing now! I had funny vibrating leg things on when had section with ds1 but most people seem to have those stockings for a section to prevent DVT.

Can't remember who said it but I would like to be out of the RUH in Bath and home or in Chippenham hosp asap after birth - have had to stay in longer with both mine because or spinal/epidural. This time though - with my 'natural birth' with tens, breathing, birth ball, positions etc (dreaming here) it will all be over in a flash and can go home. Reality though is will go through labour with eipdural, ds3 will be OP or stuck, will have section and spend a week in hospital !

Off to nose around other threads...back soon!

11weeksandcounting · 29/01/2007 19:52

Why is it a bad sling? baby stuck to mummy is supposed to be good isn't it? womb like?

liath · 29/01/2007 19:57

Not sure about the walking after 6 hours, I had dd in the wee hours then went to bed in the ward. I had stitches and when I did get up I felt like I'd had a sustained and hard kicking where the sun don't shine. Hobbled as far as the loo & back only the first day. Was quite chuffed a few days later that I was able to walk to the corner shop & back. A friend who had no stitches was up & about in no time with very little pain. She must have had an elastic fanjo .

11weeksandcounting · 29/01/2007 20:03

The first time I stood up wee gushed out of me and flooded the floor - absolutely no control over it whatsoever! Luckily had my own room so no spectators I had episiotomy/stitches so maybe the lack of feeling in fanjo (or what was left of it!) was to blame - would be reluctant to leave after 6 hours if happened again - spent a few days concerned about standing up - will ask for bed pan this time before get out of bed!

Now its really the third trimester we can get down to the real nitty gritty of birth!

claricebean · 29/01/2007 20:18

Oh god, the nitty gritty of birth. Am starting to get flashbacks of the ´ring of fire´. Not looking forward to that bit again. But at least you know it´s nearly over then.

So what´s wrong with Baby Bjorn??? We don´t get up to date ER here (Mark Green´s still around fgs). I have a Bjorn - is there something I should know??? Must admit, I haven´t used it loads in the past. I´ve never been one for wearing it round the house, although to be fair I´ve never had a wingey, won´t-be-put-down baby, so will probably eat my words with this one . And I prefer to use a buggy when I´m out and about (especially now I have my new P&T ). But do use it sometimes when out if I think it´ll be more convenient IYKWIM.

Parents arrive tomorrow!!!!! Thank goodness. We all had a much better day today now that we are back into our usual routine. DD1 and I fell out a bit about her homework, but I guess it´ll take her a few days to get back into the swing of things.

Sorry about the flu, BB. Cyber drugs coming your way.

9 weeks and 1 day to go!!

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 20:21

Blimey, turn my back for 2 minutes and there's a new thread and tons of posts!

Thanks Katy for setting it up!

Pmsl at the Big Brother comparisons - and at the vision of runny, running around like a Benny Hill sketch!

Honestly, cats who'd have 'em!

Runny, I don't think Comet will play ball tbh. I am just going to have to phone a local repair company, as I cannot be without the dishwasher for long - dh's washing up skills are crap and I'll end up doing it!

God, Becky was a nightmare tonight. I think she is overtired, as she is very sensitive. I just hpope she isn't coming down with something else!

Birdie, sorry to hear you are poorly again. Hope you feel better soon.

Right, better rescue the rice before it boils over!

maveta · 29/01/2007 20:31

Quick question!! on ebay looking to buy for the first time. There´s a wool popolini wrap that the seller says is hardly used but admits they have a few spots on them although says she doesn´t know from what, maybe greasy fingers or lanolin. These sell for 12quid and current bid on ebay is only about 2 quid, probably because she admitted they were stained, although from the photo they look ok.

Should I buy anyway, at such a low price or wait and see if ´perfect condition´ ones come up?? Aaaaargh, the indecision!!

AngeG · 29/01/2007 20:31

Hello everyone.

Thanks for the new thread Katy.

CD - Good luck for your driving test tomorrow. Sending goodluck vibes your way.

SOSPL - Hope Becky was just having a bad day and will be better behaved tomorrow. How is your foot now? Hope the bruising and pain are easing off. Has Andrej spoken to the fitters yet?

Maveta - Fantastic that your cats are behaving themselves for a change

Birdiebump and Katy44 - Hope you're both feeling better soon.

Runnyhabbit - Sounds a bit like the gingerbread man which I read to Jake as a bedtime story all that chasing around.

11weeks - that sounds great Agree bed pan would be more preferable!

Well Allen came back tonight and after Jake saying all the time 'I want Daddy' he decided as soon as he got home that he didn't! And has been really quite nasty to him. I suppose that's kids for you, they like to punish you for leaving them.

I'm just really hoping that he will love Daddy again tomorrow morning when he wakes up because I don't want to get up at half six again like I did this morning.

AngeG · 29/01/2007 20:39

SOSPL - Don't think I could cope without my dishwasher. Hope yours is fixed soon. Really hope Becky not coming down with anything else. Maybe it's just the tail end of what's she's had.

Maveta - Not sure about ebay haven't really used it. I suppose it depends on how you would feel having one that doesn't look brand new and make sure you don't pay too much for it, especially for postage to Spain, sometimes the postage can be really expensive I'm told.

I have a Bjorn carrier from last time although I didn't really use it much TBH. I think the problem with them is that they support baby at the crotch, which isn't good for a prolonged period of time. I think for short periods they are ok though.

claricebean · 29/01/2007 20:41

Oh yes, CD, forgot to say good luck for tomorrow. Hope MS has gone by the test, not sure if throwing up on the examiner counts for or against you . Surely you´ll get extra points for having a large bump though.

maveta · 29/01/2007 20:42

hmm, think the big problem is going to be whether I am happy to use nappies that look used. Maybe I´ll spend a bit longer looking around and getting used to ebay before buying.. re. real nappies i think there could be some serious savings involved at least just to try them out and then buy new in whichever brand I really like.

ebay. a whole new shopping world. think dh is going to really wish my little sis had never introduced me...

eca · 29/01/2007 20:53

hello

hope everyone's ok today. hugs to those feeling off it or with poorly dc.

can't remember much except

CD good luck with test tomorrow, will be keeping everything crossed for you!

GMM - your photos are adorable am so Your little bean is beautiful!

I'm recovering after a whole w'end of entertaining and work today. Have ordered some decleor cleanser and toner as a treat and in a vain hope of trying to get rid of my spots (that just seem to be getting worse and worse)

Still managed to bulk cook lasagne today and need to haul myself off the sofa and make the cheese sauce!!

And made marmalade yesterday. VERY satisfying chopping lots of seville oranges!

Right, cheese sauce is calling...

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 29/01/2007 21:02

Hi Ange, glad Allen got back ok. Kids are heartbreakers aren't they. It is so true that they like to punish us for leaving them. I hope the relationship is re-kindled.

My foot is feeling a lot better thank you. I have a bruise not surprisingly, and I am still conscious of it. I am in charge of calling the builders as Andrej is so busy at work. Lucky me!

Plus, I think the dishwasher may be fixed- hurrrah! It seems that something was being squashed so the water was not draining away. I'll dare to check in a minute and will probably be back on in a mo ranting!

Maveta, I do a fair bit of stuff on ebay. I guess if you won it and found it didn't meet your expectations, you could put it back on ebay!

CD, wishing you all the best for tomorrow hun.
