Are your children’s vaccines up to date?
Emmymummy · 30/01/2007 10:39

Have you been out for a spin on your own yet?

1becomes3 · 30/01/2007 10:44

congratulations CD!
I'm banned from driving thanks to my DH speeding, I have taken his points and been banned twice now because he can't stop putting his foot down, so when the ban is over I have to re-take my test!

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 10:45

Woo, that's great CD!

Well am in the process of sorting out getting bean christened after it's born. It's been complicated by the fact we want it christened where we got married (really nice church, has special family meaning & means my 96 year old great aunt will be able to go - she can't travel all the way to Leeds) cos none of my family live in that parish now (v small parish). Luckily it seems I won't have to travel up there every couple of weeks tho (like we did for the wedding!). Hoping we can get a date for it sooner rather than later since DH's family have a long way to travel and will probably book flights. Going to try and persuade DH to get christened at the same time.

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2007 10:46

Sorry to hear about that 1B3 honey!

Thank you for your messages guys - I am pleased!! DH has car today so haven't been out on my own yet - v.nervous!!

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 10:49

1b3 - @ your DH.

I really should start driving again...but find DH's car a bit big to manage. The seat in it is really low and sloped back, I need about 4 cushions just to be able to drive it! Wishing he would change it but we can't afford it at the moment.

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2007 10:51

Yes, we have a great big estate car -

mammyjo · 30/01/2007 10:53

Hi all. Havent been around much but congrats to CD!!! Well done you, that is brilliant news!

So sorry to hear about Jack MIABT, I lost one of my dogs several months ago and cried every day for at least a week. You just get so attached to them.

GMM, wonderful pics of Charlie, am very .

Have a good day all xxx

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 10:56

I'm sure you'll manage it CD, I'm just a big scaredy cat when it comes to driving!!!

geordiemacminx · 30/01/2007 11:01

Was just wondering whether you mummies could help me out... have posted this on the pregnancy board but will probably get more honest responses here...

In the process of ordering baby furniture from m&p..the range that I like comes with a free basic m&p mattress..was just wondering how good/suitable this is likely to be.. there is an option to up grade.. would this be worth it?

Bramshott · 30/01/2007 11:27

Fantastic news CD - WELL DONE!!!!!

Emmymummy - well done for posting the photo! Sorry to hear you are having a bad one - this pregnancy lark is so emotionally up and down isn't it? I felt like that a bit yesterday, mainly due to a bad night's sleep, so I can totally empathise with where you're coming from. I'm sure you are a brilliant mummy and that Emily loves you to bits. Glad to hear that Cirque du Soleil was good, and well done for going all the way to London and back on Sun. It's so frustrating when you realise that you have to slow down, just when everything is busy with getting ready for the baby, trying to finish everything off at work etc. Sorry, that probably sounds like random wafflings, but sending you virtual (((hugs))).

GMM - is it a cot or a moses basket you're getting? If moses basket, go with the cheapy option as they're in it for such a short time. If cot or cotbed then hmm, maybe think about it. Mamas & Papas should be pretty good anyway, but when we got DD's single bed from Debenhams, I wish we'd spent more on a better mattress as the one that came with it is crap!

geordiemacminx · 30/01/2007 11:30

No its the mattress for the cot bed, we have a moses basket and just got the standard with that...

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 11:48

ARGH....have just discovered that godparents MUST have been baptised....already asked DH's bro to be one and he hasn't been. Why couldn't my in-laws just be normal?????

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2007 11:49

I'd upgrade - you won't regret it!

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2007 11:50

Depends what church you are Baptising in - You should have a chat with the Vicar hon. x

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 11:56

CD - is that right? I've just read that it's church law... so assumed it would apply to whichever church we used. Not sure how much use the vicar will be...he gets my name wrong on everything he sends & doesn't seem to listen to anything properly!!!

CaptainDippy · 30/01/2007 11:57

Give it a go - wouldn't hurt to discuss it with him - It might be "Church Law", but in my experience - a lot of churches are "a law unto themselves", iykwim!!?

nuttygirl · 30/01/2007 12:00

hmm...i think this one likes to follow the rules IYKWIM...think it'll have to be DH who rings, he's much better at that kind of thing than me!

geordiemacminx · 30/01/2007 12:02

Can he not get baptised at the same time.. like Eileen did on corrie?

muminabigtumi · 30/01/2007 12:02

Go Dippy Go Dippy!
waves hands around in ricki lake stylee
x
FANTASTIC!

muminabigtumi · 30/01/2007 12:10

Geordie - My M&P Elosie Cot Bed came with a
goes to check
Doesn't have a name on it GRRRR It was the basic M&P mattress that came with the Elosie Cot Bed - we didn't upgrade (could't afford at time) and the mattress is excellent and we will use it for DS2. It is sprung and hasn't sagged or anything - just keep turning it regularly and get a waterproof mattress protector would be my advice
Hope that helps?
x

WestCountryLass · 30/01/2007 12:16

MIABT, I am so sorry to hear about your Mums dog, that is so sad (((hugs)))

But congratulations to you CD, that is an achievement

Bugmum · 30/01/2007 12:21

Oh gosh, better post while I remember some things.

CD Hooray! Well done and great timing.

MIAM I really feel for you. We lost our two dogs when they were really old (the last of the two just before DS was born) and even though it was a release in both cases, I still miss them. I'd had them all my adult life (they lived with me, not my family), so it was hard to imagine life without them. Once my boys are old enough to say, 'Can we have a dog mum, can we, can we, please can we, we'll look after it' [yeah, sure they'll look after it! ], then we will get another one, possibly another two.

WeeOnion you MUST go to your NCT classes, I can't stress that enough. Apart from anything else, you meet people. Tell you DH that you need to go, and he needs to support you, and that's it. The classes are so not just about birth, but about support, and about life.

WestCountryLass · 30/01/2007 12:21

Oh and no point me sorting the babys room out cos we had financial advisor this morning and decided to remortgage and have an extension - my offspring will have bedrooms of their own

Bugmum · 30/01/2007 12:22

Damn, knew I'd forget something:

EllieK If you see this, I didn't get a chance to answer your question before you zoomed off for the weekend. The answer is Cambridge

Sexonslightlypuffylegs · 30/01/2007 13:19

Blimey, tons to catch up.

Firstly, CD, I am over the moon for you - in fact I welled up! I know how fabulous it is to be free to drive. Fabulous!!!!!

WO - I agree, that you must go to the antenatal classes, especially as a first time mum. It is such a great way of meeting people in the same boat, and I have made some great friends through it. Bugger dp.

Emmy - thanks for posting the picture. Sorry to hear you are on a downer today. It is hard juggling so many things, and I know many a time I have hated not giving 100% to every aspect, but it is so hard. Don't be hard on yourself. Hugs to you.

1b3 - pmsl at "pulling the babies out yourself"! Visions of James Herriot and his elbow-length gloves again. BTW Liath, how is your sister doing??

MIABT - you said DS2 in one of your posts - do you know that you are having a boy again then???!!!

If I have missed anyone out, I am really sorry.

Not much to report here. B slept in until 7.30 this morning, so was obviously tired and emotional last night - much like the rest of us!
At work again, and really cannot be bothered. Feel like telling everyone to naff off! Not really the done thing as their HR Manager!

Right, loving you and leaving you temporarily. x
