Yay Name! Good luck Carolann - I burst into tears when I told my boss. She was absolutely delighted so I was being ridiculous! DH shared the scan photo on facebook afterwards and almost immediately gotta text from his boss congratulating him and saying now he understood why DH had taken the afternoon off!

The 3yo I look after has been pitching names to me since I told them, top contenders at the moment are Superbaby or Sweetie. Can't decide which one I prefer!

Butterpuff · 24/08/2016 13:38

Got to be Superbaby SuperD with Sweetie as a nn!!

I'm loving all the enthusiasm now people are starting to tell the outside world. Smile A friend had a baby today and I was dying to tell her I'd be joining in soon. I can't wait for our scan next week to start telling people.

SuperDuperJezebel · 24/08/2016 13:49

Good plan, it's modern but classic! Loads of people have asked if we will be finding out the gender... We will, but we want to keep it a secret so I've said no. I'm desperate to find out so I can start to buy more clothes, I really like neutrals but there just aren't a lot in the shops!

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 14:10

Congrats on the scan Tutu!

Glad your boss was nice Name. It's such a relief to just get the news out there.

I have my scan tomorrow. Am absolutely bricking it. After a previous mmc at around 12-14 weeks, I am terrified of bad news... On the other hand, I just want to know what's going on in there, having not had any early scans this time.

I will be 12 weeks exactly by my dates, so interesting to see if they put me forward or back - I lied about my LMP as I know I ovulated around cd26 and so very late compared to the estimated cd14 they base EDD on when going by LMP. I didn't want to be assumed to be around 2 weeks ahead of where I am and get scanned too early. Just have to see how accurate I was Smile

Butterpuff · 24/08/2016 14:13

Cheeky Dusty I wish I had done that. Do you have long cycles then? I think I'm around a week behind where I have been estimated so am a bit worried that baby will be too small for measurements at scan. I may only be 10+6.

I hope you have great news tomorrow. I can totally understand your being nervous. Hope this time its a really positive experience.

NameChange30 · 24/08/2016 14:21

Dusty Ditto what Butterpuff said, I can understand your nerves and hope you have good news tomorrow. Best of luck! x

Congrats Tutu! Welcome Dawn. I found nothing got rid of my nausea completely but eating bland food little and often helped, as did citrus flavoured ice lollies and citrus sweets like starburst.

That must be a big relief Name! I am mentally preparing myself for my manager being a bitch about it!

Wishing you lots of luck Dusty x

cyclinggirl22 · 24/08/2016 14:37

I'm really worried about telling my boss too. I've been at work for 15months but in the next week or two they will be giving me my perminant contract so once they have done that I will have to say. Once I've told them though I will be put on light duties due to my type of job so it will be an inconvenience to them. I feel like I should tell them before my new contract but they have never done me any favours so I feel I should look out for myself. Not sure. Very anxious about it.

Great to hear everyone's good scan news Smile hope mines as good tomorrow

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 14:37

Thanks, ladies.

Butter, I don't have long cycles usually - 28/29 days - but for some reason I had a short one in April (26 days) and then a long one in May. I was using opks and didn't get a peak reading until cd26, whereas it's usually cd17. Very odd. Poor dh was knackered from dtd so much as I kept expecting to ovulate but didn't until very late!

Carolann8584 · 24/08/2016 14:39

Don't know what to do now

I have booked the day of my scan off work, want it to be a relaxing day, no work

My manager not back in til the day before so I had her manager sign my form no problem so far. Gave form to HR they said if it's for a hospital appointment (didn't put exactly why) why don't I come in before or after don't waste a days holiday. I don't see it as a waste but can't say that to her.

Told her to put it through then when my manager comes back in see what she says. I might get the day back once I tell her the reason for it after scan.

I don't think she is going to be happy about me being off anyway which is why I went down the holiday route as she can't question what I use my holidays for.

Should I cancel holiday? in hope she gives it me off when she comes back. Does it look like I have gone behind her back?

Sorry for long post but head fussy today Smile

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 14:39

Good luck for your scan Cycling!

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 15:12

Dusty my hope for you is that your delay in scanning puts you father ahead than you think, out the "danger zone" and you can relax and have a jolly good hearty celebration tomorrow.

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 15:14

Very much in love with this little bean...

Carolann8584 · 24/08/2016 15:27

tutu lovely pic of your bean, so happy for you xx

cyclinggirl22 · 24/08/2016 15:29

tutu that's a lovely picture congratulations Smile

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 16:04

Thanks so much cycling and Carolann.
I've just been catching up on the posts over the past few days.
My scan pic was £6 for one photo and I didn't even get a nice card to put it in like last time it was in a cheap white envelope. I'm at Birmingham Womens hospital.
It's still as much of a joke there as it was the last 2 times. My scan was meant to be at 9am I was left waiting till 10am with a full bladder and no communication I was then put it various waiting rooms one for blood tests (where they butchered me as usual) one for weight and blood pressure and urine sample. I ended up leaving there at 1.30 pm.
I'm not someone who moans about the NHS it's a wonderful provision it's just the lack of communication that's the issue you don't know why everything's running so late or what the heck your doing in your 4th waiting room of the day. I mean is it just me or is 4 and a half hours a bit much for a 12 week scan appointment?

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 16:09

PS I've had 2 positive experiences of births there and the staff were lovely so I'm not on a total downer about it. The birth centre was a lovely experience. I guess they are just overstretched being as its the UKS second city.

Cloeycat · 24/08/2016 16:16

Carolan if you want to take the day as Hols then just say you have personal stuff to catch up on and may as well get everything done in one day. I'm sure HR were just trying to be kind in suggesting you don't need a holiday day for hospital appt. However I would doubt very much they will give you back the day when they find out it was an antenatal appt as while they have to give reasonable time for appts I don't think they will consider a full day reasonable.

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 16:22

Thanks Tutu - and that's an amazing scan picture! So detailed. You could probably get a good nub theory guess out of that, if you're into that kind of thing.

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 16:26

Go on Dusty hit me with it...

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 16:27

I've got one of each and have been saying I don't mind what I have this time but a teeny tiny part of me secretly would like another girl...

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 16:44

Oh god Tutu, I can't do it! I was crap at reading my DS's scan pic, but I put it on the in-gender website and got a ton of unanimous responses saying boy as there was, apparently, a classic "stacked nub" that is a dead giveaway for a boy. I couldn't even see it until it was described to me in great detail - I just can never work out what bit is the nub and usually end up looking at a leg... That being said, my totally useless guess here would be girl. Grin

For those of you who haven't come across nub theory, please don't google it unless you want to use it to guess your baby's gender! Whilst most 12 week scan photos aren't detailed enough to have a good guess, some are, and you can't "un-know" what to look for though you might be crap at it like me anyway.

Tutuloves · 24/08/2016 16:54

Dusty I've joined the website you mentioned because I'm just dying to know!! I'm like you I can't make head nor tail of what I'm looking at!!

Dustycorners · 24/08/2016 17:19

Those ladies are brilliant, they'll sort you out!

NameChange30 · 24/08/2016 17:28

cycling I definitely think you should wait until you have a permanent contract before you tell them you're pregnant. Legally you don't have to tell them for ages and ages yet. Please wait until you have the contract sorted and signed! If they're not particularly supportive employers anyway, it's even more important to protect yourself.
