£6 for a scan photo?! I got 7 photos at my last scan for nothing. We had a few pounds prepared as well. I never thought they'd be £6!!!

NameChange30 · 23/08/2016 20:34

Yes well the most depressing thing is that I'm not even surprised, we live in one of the most expensive cities outside London! However I have signed up for a research study which means I get a bonus scan at 28 weeks and a free photo, yay! Grin

SuperDuperJezebel · 23/08/2016 20:39

Wow, mine was in London and I paid 3 quid! I got 4 or 5 photos and he told me to tell the receptionist we got one!

bumblebeekaty · 23/08/2016 20:41

We paid £5 for 6 photos but one would have been fine

Sorry not sure how to tag people in a post, sure it's very easy if someone can quickly explain!

NameChange30 · 23/08/2016 20:49

Bloody hell, I'm definitely feeling ripped off now! Angry

bumble If you mean what I've done with your name, you just write it and make it bold by putting an asterisk (*) on either side.

Scan pics are apparently £5 at my hospital. They call it a donation but it's compulsory, so I think they need to check the definition of 'donation' Hmm

MissClarke86 · 23/08/2016 21:04

Congrats Wellies! I love reading positive scan news.

Butterpuff mines at 4pm so yours is earlier than me. Waiting for that is gonna be a killer!

Regarding maternity wear, having never been pregnant before is there a "too soon" for buying maternity jeans/trousers? As in, will they just fall down!? I don't have a bump yet but am bloated and bigger around the waist and I think putting my work trousers in next week after 5 weeks off is going to be a bit of a pen uncomfortable shocker...

SpanielLedWeaning · 23/08/2016 21:16

I bought myself a new non-underwired bra today from Bravissimo (Royce size 34HH) and it's amazing. Was really struggling with bloating in the evening and the underwire digging into my sensitive stomach but this is like first class luxury in comparison!

Don't think I can wear it out everyday though as non-underwired bras give me a odd looking bust.

Butterpuff · 23/08/2016 21:24

MissClarke some of the maternity trousers may be too big before you have a proper bump. The trick I used was a hair bobble round button/hole to extend the opening of my work trousers and then a belly band over the top to hide the gap. (Or a long vest top) not so comfortable as proper mat clothes but bridged the gap a little. This time I might just wear nice loose dresses!

alphabook · 23/08/2016 21:36

Congrats Wellies and Freckles!

Carol I would look up the CQC report for your hospital, it'll tell you what the maternity department is like now.

My hospital charges £6 a photo but they forgot to charge us so we got it for free!

bumblebeekaty · 23/08/2016 21:42

namechange like this! Thank you x

Cloeycat · 23/08/2016 21:42

My scan letter said £5 for 2 pics, £10 for 4... Seems v steep but worth it I guess. Scans on Thursday at 4. Am so nervous/excited. My poor mum is just dying for the go ahead to tell her brothers (which seems unfair considering DPs extended fam and friends all now know!) but she is waiting till scan as that's what I originally asked her to do.

WelliesAndCake · 23/08/2016 22:07

Thanks everyone. I'm looking forward to hearing all the scan news over the coming weeks. I'm not sure why but I was really surprised to see the baby moving! Kicking it's legs and the tiny heart was beating. Photos were £4 each (!) but we got 4 for the price of 1 luckily. Family were SO excited to hear our news! Good luck for any scans this week.

SuperDuperJezebel · 23/08/2016 22:09

I bought some of these inset panel shorts from Gap in khaki and wore them today... Amazing! www.gap.co.uk/browse/product.do?cid=1061552&vid=1&pid=000213893001 they just have an elasticated triangle on each side seam so they fit over my burgeoning belly without being full maternity. Think I'm going to splash out on some of the jeans with the inset panel too.

DebieS · 23/08/2016 23:26

I have my scan next Tuesday 30th and I'm so scared but excited (such a weird feeling)

RE maternity clothes...... Because I have a BMI over 35 and obese, I can't go to 'normal' shops for clothes but 'Yours' have a lovely range of mat clothes in. Don't know if I will need them as not sure I will actually look pregnant being so large CakeCakeGrin

Newbie7077 · 24/08/2016 06:36

Name If it makes you feel better we paid £10 for three and got a bonus fourth and they're sort of floppy print outs! (Basingstoke hospital)

NameChange30 · 24/08/2016 07:33

We only got one photo Sad It was £6 for 1 or £12 for 3 and we thought £12 was too much. We might get 3 at the 20 week scan though.

OP posts:
neonrainbow · 24/08/2016 08:10

Name change you really only need one... don't be fooled into buying more. you can copy the one you've got and distribute if you want to share it but I got 7 (3 of one twin, 4 of the other) and they're pretty much exactly the same. I only needed one of each twin really! I took photos of them on my phone and sent it to family who I thought would be interested and kept the original.

neonrainbow · 24/08/2016 08:16

By the way had anyone had any pelvis pain? I had it onset very suddenly at work yesterday and struggled to do my hourly necessary trip to the loo. It went on intermittently throughout the evening as well. I work at a desk so am concerned how bad this could get!!

alphabook · 24/08/2016 08:57

Happy second trimester 1st Marchers! According to Ovia I now have a clownfish!

neonrainbow · 24/08/2016 09:00

I've got a clown fish too Smile well two clown fish

NameChange30 · 24/08/2016 09:07

Please wish me luck - I'm telling my line manager that I'm pregnant today Confused I only started the job 3 months ago (got pregnant the week after starting Blush) so I'm a bit nervous about telling her. She will probably be professional about it but she sometimes comes across a bit... disapproving, so I must resist the urge to be apologetic! Help me stay strong!

alpha I'm 13+2 but Ovia's still telling me I'm in the first trimester, maybe technically it's not the second until the end of the 13th week? Nearly there anyway!

neon No pelvic pain here but a friend of mine had it badly throughout her pregnancy, hope it won't be like that for you x

OP posts:
Carolann8584 · 24/08/2016 09:09

neon I work at a desk too, no pain (yet Confused) hourly trips to the loo I have but I do try and have a pint of water an hour(even before I got pregnant) so its to be expected Smile

Happygojo86 · 24/08/2016 09:09

Last time I had a scan at my hospital, pictures were £2 each. Can't believe how expensive some of them are! But you could only pick one image, but you could have that image as many times as you wanted

alphabook · 24/08/2016 09:22

Oh that's interesting Name. Pregnancy+ is telling me I'm in the 2nd trimester. Although I remember reading that there are different ways of counting the trimesters so maybe both are right!

Good luck today, I also only started a new job just over a month ago so I'm really nervous about telling work. My manager is on holiday until week after next so the nerves are just building!
