Second what butter puff said miss Clarke.
My dp also said he'd be happy having no children but gave it a go for me and all through the pregnancy was terribly unsupportive and when I was about 36 weeks came out with all this stuff about how he was too selfish to be a dad and that he was terrified. The minute dd was born he has been the most doting caring daddy ever. He's useless with me still haha but dd adores him.

I forgot to ask you midwife for my exemption form annoyingly because won't be seen till 16 weeks next so hopefully I won't need any prescriptions till then.

Dozygirl · 21/08/2016 21:42

*my midwife.

alphabook · 21/08/2016 22:04

I got my maternity exemption from the GP Dozy.

charlybs · 21/08/2016 23:22

Gojo wah can't believe your sister stole your elephant trousers! I'm the eldest and have one younger brother so have never had to deal with the frustration of sisters haha.

MissClarke my DH was definitely a tad overwhelmed when we found out, even though we'd been planning and trying. I'd been reading a lot more about it than him and it took him until a successful early scan to really "get" what was going on. He said seeing little shrimp in there was the highlight of his year. I know how he feels as its so daunting for me as a first timer. Also doesn't feel real!! There is a thing growing in me?! Ugh! Lol

bumblebeekaty · 22/08/2016 07:28

Morning all!
Does anyone know when it's OK to have a pregnancy massage? I've booked one for 13+6 (next Monday) but now I'm wondering whether it's too early. I can always swap for another treatment if it is but would prefer the massage!
Thanks

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/08/2016 07:29

And we have to keep it alive, Charly... The pressure! Got my scan today, fingers crossed all goes well. Letter says to allow 90 min but as far as I can tell it only takes 30ish... Are they building in lots of waiting time or am I missing something?

NameChange30 · 22/08/2016 07:38

Super Good luck for your scan today!
After my scan I had to wait around for a blood test, which is probably why you need to allow 90 minutes.

Good luck for your scan super. I have my booking in appointment this afternoon, not too sure what to expect.

bumblebeekaty · 22/08/2016 07:44

My scan took about 30 mins, then we had to wait a bit for the blood test. All done in an hour though

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/08/2016 07:53

Ok cool thanks, didn't realise they'd take blood as well. Hope they have more luck this time than last time!

NameChange30 · 22/08/2016 07:56

They take blood for the Down's/ Edward's/ Patau screening if you've opted to have it.

rbucz Just lots of data entry and form filling! It's rather boring! (Might be better if you get a nice midwife but mine was a bit meh). They might take bloods and urine but mine just sent me to the practice nurse for that.

bumblebee what does a pregnancy massage entail?

bumblebeekaty · 22/08/2016 08:12

I don't know exactly but I'm assuming it's a scaled down version of a normal massage with no aromatherapy oils etc. I might call up today and double check but I think it should be fine.

515am alarm this morning was not fun, going to work out how many more Monday mornings I've got left until (all being well) I finish work

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/08/2016 08:39

I'm booking myself in for a sports massage after my 12 week scan. I usually go every 6 months for a wonky coccyx and the guy who does it is great. He has one baby and one on the way, so I emailed him to see if it's still possible when pregnant... He said he can do a modified massage after the 12 week scan. Can't wait to be able to get off the sofa without grunting!

Dozygirl · 22/08/2016 10:06

Just rang up to change scan time but next available date wasnt till 6th September and I'm not prepared to wait that long so will stick to this Thursdays appointment. It was only because of dd swimming lesson but my dad does it anyway, I just take them and help with the dressing and undressing, but my mum can go instead.

I never had a pregnancy massage but I had one afterwards which was must needed due to all the night feeding and lying in bed in uncomfortable positions my lower back got quite sore. Might have a little pamper this time around though.

Butterpuff · 22/08/2016 10:22

I'd love a massage!

From what I have heard most places as you to wait until after 12 weeks but then its fine. As long as they know. Maybe I'll look into booking one as a treat sometime soon.

My first scan last time took hours, and hours, mainly as they were running late due to lots of women having uncooperative babies and bladders and being asked to pee 'just a little' or take a little skip round the ward to wake baby up!!

Still worried that I will only be 10+6 when I have my scan and wont be able to have all the measurements taken. But hopefully I have my dates wrong and I'm a little further along that I think.

I cant wait the scan is so fantastic. Smile

Carolann8584 · 22/08/2016 10:26

After lovely weekend with DSSs back in work today and nausea is back with a bang. I'm still having pancakes for my evening meal, seems to be the only thing that doesn't make me go ugh! that plus feeling exhausted are the only symptoms I am dealing with at the min.

Still waiting for my scan letter, good luck to all who have scans this week, hope all is well Smile

x

MrsMushrooms · 22/08/2016 10:40

I'm not keen on massages for some reason - maybe I've only had bad ones!

Fingers crossed that people still waiting on scan appts hear soon, it must be so frustrating!! Our scan is the day after we get back from holiday and DH was really lucky to get the full 2 weeks off, so he was really worried about asking for a couple of hours the very next day for the scan but his work were totally fine. Phew!!

How's everybody getting on with symptoms? I believe we're supposed to start feeling better soon! I've had slightly less nausea but I'm still knackered :)

Butterpuff · 22/08/2016 10:44

I think I'm starting to see some improvement MrsM The times that I'm not feeling nauseaous are starting to get a little longer and I can eat a little more. Yesterday I actually felt like playing with DC rather than lying on the sofa sleeping (as I did Saturday) I don't want to get excited too soon, but I really hope that I've had the worst of it and I'll start feeling better soon.

Loads of you are way ahead of me so fingers crossed lots of improvements are on the way, its time to enjoy being pregnant rather than just trying to survive the awful first trimester. Flowers

DaisyBank82 · 22/08/2016 13:05

I went for my second 12 week scan today after they couldn't measure the baby last week and this time was much more successful! At first the baby was lying on its front so they sent me away for a walk and cold drink (and let me go to the loo - oh joy!) and when I came back the baby was lying perfectly so was measured properly at last :) They dated me at 12+2 today, so ever so slightly ahead of where I was expecting after the scan last week, so now my official EDD is 4th March. The sonographer was lovely (gave us LOADS of photos for free and told us not to tell anyone!) and said all looks good so far. The NT measurement looks in the normal range so just have to wait for blood results, which they took afterwards (after a struggle as I have small veins). They also gave me a new Bounty pack which I had a quick look at. It has some laundry thing and some kind of sanitary pad thing - oh the glamour!
I went for the scan today at the same hospital as I had my DD and it has got me feeling a bit excited now. I've treated myself to some Jojo over the bump leggings (SO comfy) and bought a BNWT maternity dress for a bargain price on eBay. My mat clothes from last time are really summery so I'm going to keep me eyes open for a suitable coat soon as my current coat is already a bit snug, sigh.
Hope anyone else with a scan today has a really positive one!

Carolann8584 · 22/08/2016 13:57

That's great news Daisy congrats on your little bean Smile

MrsMushrooms · 22/08/2016 14:23

That's great, Daisy! Lovely to read :D

SuperDuperJezebel · 22/08/2016 15:15

Just had my scan, waiting for bloods but all good so far. Due date has been moved forward 1 day to 3 March. Trying to upload a pic but it won't work!

DaisyBank82 · 22/08/2016 15:29

Congrats Super! I hope you enjoyed the experience. My scan. Today was much better than the one last week. I feel happy for the first time in ages.

rbucz · 22/08/2016 15:46

Congratulations super and daisy for the scans.

Booking in appointment was pretty uneventful, thanks for the heads up super, but the midwife was really friendly and sympathetic about the symptoms which was nice. And she didn't make me feel bad for having a higher bmi than I'd like, which was one of my worries.
