Thread five for the chattiest bunch of preggers ladies you've ever had the pleasure of encountering. We're greeting the second trimester with excitement and apprehension, and lots of questions, humour, reassurance, empathy and advice.

Fourth thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2684139-february-2017-thread-4-are-we-the-chattiest-bunch-or-what

Good luck for all the scans tomorrow!! Don't worry about cramping - I had the same and it was uterus expanding! Perfectly normal at this stage (if it was anything sinister cramping would be the last thing to happen after lots of bleeding!) I was the same on my 12 week scan - almost had a heart attack in the waiting room I was so worried and totally convinced myself it would be bad news. Baby was there wriggling away thinking what a silly mummy it had! Wink xx

SBSparkles · 03/08/2016 20:49

Oh and just wondering if anyone else is getting terrible headaches? They come and go but paracetamol doesn't do a lot! Not REALLY painful but they go on for ages and start to make me feel a bit fed up! Is this normal at 14 weeks?

kikisdelivery · 03/08/2016 20:54

Oohh catching up yet again after a day or so of being away!

Good luck for tomorrow ever and shell, you'll both be awesome and fine :)

Like Sparkles says, I was also pacing and shaking like a leaf in the scan waiting room. I'm so glad the gel used by the sonographer was warm, I think if it'd been cold I'd have shot off the bed and burst into tears with shock!

And sparkles to answer you, I was off last week with a nasty headache but I think it was more dehydration than anything - I'd been feeling a bit yuk the night before and hadn't even kept up with enough water really. This was nasty in the sense of just a constant throb, not a full-on pounding pain, so I think it's sort of similar to what you're describing.

SBSparkles · 03/08/2016 21:11

Hey Kiki yeah that's what mine is like but I feel like I drink loads! Maybe baby is thirsty and taking all the fluid! Hehe (might be like its dad but just not with beer!) did you just drink more then?

Holly1987 · 03/08/2016 21:11

I'm getting really bad headaches too. Apparently if you were prone to them and migraines before, the change of hormones can make them worse.
My sickness has pretty much stopped and it's just heartburn, headaches and fatigue now... Oh and spots!
But I keep telling myself it will all be worth it Smile
My colleague came in today with her newborn and for the first time ever I was a bit nervous around him lol Must be because I know I'll have my own in 6 months!

Shellbell0403 · 03/08/2016 21:13

Anyone else having lower back pain? Xx

SBSparkles · 03/08/2016 21:19

Holly it makes it all a bit more real doesn't it? Thing is, I never get headaches normally, like ever (apart from hangovers....things of the past!) despite not having any sickness and just a bit of nausea previously, it's decided to come back now! It's funny because I was feeling sick today but decided to eat cake because I knew it would take it off! Your body is just totally different when pregnant! So weird!

SBSparkles · 03/08/2016 21:21

Shell no back pain yet but I hear it's very common at this stage. Yoga or swimming might help?

Evergreen17 · 03/08/2016 21:42

Sparkles I did make myself drink way more water the next day - the day I couldn't go into work. I also asked my GP what I could take, if anything, and he recommended paracetamol so I had one...what a wuss! He said the standard dose would be ok, but I kinda wimped it just in case!

I'm dreadful for hydration if I feel a bit sick though - even with long-gone hangovers! I know not drinking anything makes you feel worse, but I always fall into the trap of just sitting pitifully on the sofa when I feel sick, not good!

LondonGirl83 · 03/08/2016 22:05

Divadee congrats! Yes, I think all of us doing DNA tests are having girls. DH and I had picked a boys name but now need to think of girl ones.

Did you have a sense either way?

divadee · 03/08/2016 22:54

london if I am honest I was convinced this one was a boy! Just a really strong feeling. So that was obviously a load of old crap that feeling!!! I didn't have a preference either way to be fair though. I have an 18 year old girl so I know what I have to go through in years to come!!!

Jojoclaire · 03/08/2016 22:57

Shell I've had lower back pain this week having gone back to work, think it's all the sitting so maybe getting a bit of exercise would help?

So relieved MS has gone though! The blooming could be just around the corner? Hmm

And good luck tomorrow shell and ever. that 9.10 appointment is a perfect time, you'll be done by 10 ready to get into wedding mode FlowersSmile. Will be thinking of you both!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 03/08/2016 23:08

By the way, I've just changed my name as a friend is probably on here and I want to remain slightly anonymous - previously jojo. Could someone update the list next time round? Happy to be called Piano!

Mysterycat23 · 03/08/2016 23:34

sparkles kiki and holly yes to headaches! Horrible, I never normally get them either. I read somewhere it's to do with changes in blood pressure due to extra blood being made to circulate through placenta. I have low blood pressure - could that be a factor?

Is anyone else waking up at 1am to throw up nothing? Then not able to sleep afterward? Getting very sick of it now (accidental pun) would quite like to just sleep please!

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 06:15

Good luck today Shell and Evergreen Smile

Evergreen17 · 04/08/2016 06:35

Ahhhhh
I managed to sleep something
Not much
So tired
In 3 hours I will know and then everything crossed for the tests and nuchal ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

Dreamingoutloud7 · 04/08/2016 06:54

Good luck today shell and evergreen

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 06:55

Unfortunately these next 3hrs will drag. Do you have something to distract you at all Evergreen? The worst bit for me was sitting in the waiting room. Please make sure you take a drink/ something to read/ do as my scan was 15min late and then there was over an hour's wait before I was then called for my bloods/ midwife chat. Hopefully it won't be as long for you, but I was bored having forgotten all of the above!

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 04/08/2016 07:04

Eek, scan for me today too.
Although I had a private scan a couple of weeks ago I'm still mega nervous. I'm terrified about the nuchal measurements this time, probably to do with the fact I'm oooold! Sad

My poor DH has to work so I'm taking my mum with me instead.

ScottishSnowflake · 04/08/2016 07:06

Good luck ifatfirst!

2ManySweets · 04/08/2016 07:10

You guys may think I'm bonkers but Candy Crush got me through so much scary waiting with my last pregnancy.

I swear that I was playing it the moment I stepped into the hospital right up to the moment I went into the sonography suite for the 12w and the 20w scans.

As mad as it sounds it was a good time burning distraction for me.

divadee · 04/08/2016 07:53

Good luck ifatfirst shell and ever keeping everything crossed!! And then you can all relax!!

PianoOnlyTheWhiteKeys · 04/08/2016 07:57

Does anyone else when they're lying on their back notice their "bump" is on one side or the other? My tummy looks wonky when I wake up, then I give it a rub and the baby moves to the middle! Weird but cute Smile
