Oh London, I really hope you get some good news at the next scan. Can't imagine how you feel.

Snowflake I never bothered with Emma's Diary/Bounty last time as to me it just seemed like a load of marketing. My Bounty folder when straight in the bin after retrieving my maternity notes and the free vitamins after booking in!

Scan day for me, not until late this afternoon. Anyone taking dc with them? I would rather not but don't have any childcare for dd so she will have to come.

FriendlyGhost · 27/07/2016 08:15

Good luck at your scan today Marjory. My scan letter specifically says no toddlers but I have no childcare so I'm taking dd and leaving her outside with DH. I'm hoping that once the measurements are done they'll be nice enough to let them in. I took her to my early scan and she yelled because she wanted me to cuddle her so they probably have a point. Hopefully your dd is better behaved!

LondonGirl83 · 27/07/2016 08:18

TwoCats I also meant to say that I really hope it all works out okay for you too. 23 weeks is a long time to wait. I'm glad your own research has reassured you.

My doctor told me everything I mentioned above and was very reassuring. He didn't want to get into the negative (that was me pushing him because I am pushy Blush). I'm sorry your midwife didn't have the best approach.

However, I do very technical work for a living and reading the technical research and science made me believe him that it is most likely nothing to worry about.

Thanks everyone for the well wishes.

LondonGirl83 · 27/07/2016 08:19

Good luck with your scans Marjory and Friendly!

ButtonTum · 27/07/2016 08:28

Cool dreaming! When is your scan?

Sky I read up on all my options for birthing while ttc and for me, SM edged it over Watford just. Obvs we are pretty much equidistant but I recently went for bloods at Watford and just didn't get a good feeling about the place; can't put my decision down to much more than that. DH was born it Watford "and it didn't do him any harm".

Evergreen17 · 27/07/2016 08:42

Marjory on my scan letter said I can't bring children (not that I have any Grin) maybe you should check?

MarjorySunshineDust · 27/07/2016 08:51

I had assumed children wouldn't be allowed by my letter does say siblings and additional family members can attend. If she's a pain dh can take her out!

Good luck with your scan as well friendly!

Evergreen17 · 27/07/2016 08:51

And good luck with the scan!
And everyone else that has one.

London yes I think your doctor was just advising you on very super extra cautious but as you say I don't think you should be worried and maybe it was just picked up because you had an early scan Smile

Evergreen17 · 27/07/2016 08:52

Ah marjory then you should be fine!
Mine seems very strict about just 1 adult
Probably different policies it should be fine for you

FriendlyGhost · 27/07/2016 09:16

Mine's not until next week unfortunately. Still seems like ages away.
Which hospital are you at Evergreen? Mine's East Surrey and says exactly the same as yours.

LondonGirl83 · 27/07/2016 09:35

Thanks evergreen- you are right of course. I feel quite silly about panicking myself before. I am usually quite calm

ScottishSnowflake · 27/07/2016 09:38

Thanks Marjory - I'll probably ignore it then. Good luck with your scan today Smile

twocatsandatoddler · 27/07/2016 09:55

london I panicked when I had my news too, and calmed down the next day once I'd had a chance to digest and read up on what the risks actually were. It's totally natural!

Although the midwife did refer me to a website that turned out to be a charity offering advice to women who have found out their baby is likely to have significant genetic or congenital issues, and advised on 'making the difficult decision to terminate' so it's probably no surprise I panicked a bit! I phoned the next day to ask why I'd been given that web address if there was no indication there was anything wrong with the baby at this stage and she said there was no real advice out there on PAPP-A as the research is fairly new, so this was the best they could offer. Surely would have been better not to give any website at all, rather than this one!

SkyLucy · 27/07/2016 10:20

Button that's interesting to hear. I was born in Watford too and worked there over a couple of summers during uni...think when I was asked to decide (at 3 weeks?!) a feeling of 'better the devil you know' kicked in!

Will def go for visits if my scan goes well...I've read good things about Luton and Dunstable too.

LaBergere · 27/07/2016 10:30

Hi Ladies,
Wow this is a busy thread! Its nice to see some scan pics and read about how you are all getting on. Twocats and londongirl I hope everything works out for you. I think the first trimester is sheer hell! You try so hard to get pregnant and you have this joyous 24 hours when you find out you - then it is rapidly followed by doubt and anxiety. What us women go through!

So I had my own little drama yesterday. I felt seriously faint and was cramping quite badly. I left work and tried to call my doctor who was helpfully closed, so called the hospital midwife who suggested I got to A&E. Cue immediate panic on my behalf. Blush

Got to A&E and was prodded and poked for a couple of hours by various nurses, doctors and a gynaecologist. I think they were worried I was rupturing my previous c-section scar or had an ectopic.
I had a stomach scan while I was there and managed to see our little "Glint 2" wriggling around with a heartbeat. Thank goodness its in the right place!

I was sent home with some painkillers and told I might have some round ligament pain? Hmm Still hurting now, but taking it easy. My scan is next week (Thursday) so I'm hoping that everything will be OK with the NT scan etc, as the scan I had yesterday only confirmed it was a baby, it was alive and that it was in the right place and at 39 I know my figures will be higher than when I was pregnant with my daughter aged 35. So the waiting continues!
I think that all women in the 12 week wait should be prescribed free chocolate and spa days to aid with stress. I might start a government petition.... Grin

Is anyone in the SW London/Surrey area?

Shellbell0403 · 27/07/2016 10:42

Good luck with the scans today ladies!

Labergere my scan is next Thursday also 😁 Glad everything was OK for you yesterday! I will gladly sign that petition haha!

scottish i looked at that Emma's diary and considered signing up but not yet... where abouts you from in Scotland?

LondonGirl83 · 27/07/2016 10:53

Twocats that's insane... At least for me, I only have myself to blame Confused.

LaBerge the stress of the first trimester is unreal.

kikisdelivery · 27/07/2016 11:02

Morning everyone, just catching up on all the news from last night.

London I have my fingers crossed for you xx

Marjory good luck with your scan later!

Labergere, tell me about it. I've had all the annoying stretchy feelings - though nothing as bad as it sounds like yours has been - over the past few days, which can be freaky when they're not expected!

I caved in today, I'm not in work thanks to an annoyingly killer headache pounding my skull from last night. I thought I'd sleep it off in time for work but woke up in the night because it was worse. It seems to be easing a bit now and I'm trying to make myself drink plenty to stay hydrated, but I've called the Dr just to double check what painkillers I can have (annoyingly the NHS website says paracetamol's probably ok, but to check with your GP). So I'm awarding myself a day of crappy telly and the sofa and a cuddle with my cats Smile

wispaxmas · 27/07/2016 11:03

LaB, I'd sign that petition! I think there are some in your neck of the woods. One on the FB group at the very least. I'm in SE London/Kent borders.

Button and sky - DD was born at Watford and the ante natal care was excellent. As soon as they realised DD was breech, I was given the best care. The post natal care on the ward was tough though (there were a lot of people on the ward and I was in for 4 days so not much sleep at all!). This time I am going to Barnet, not because I could fault the care at Watford, purely because I want a private room afterwards and the choice there is better!! X

LaBergere · 27/07/2016 11:15

Shellbell0403 Ooh a scan buddy! What time is yours? Mine's in the morning. I hope yours goes well!!! Smile

kikisdelivery That sounds like heaven!

wispaxmas How do you join the Facebook group?

SkyLucy · 27/07/2016 11:30

Thanks for the insight lawyered - good to hear you had such a positive experience. I'll be desperate for a private room though...!

Shellbell0403 · 27/07/2016 11:41

LaBergere Mine is at 11.45, panicking slightly! Haha... seen jellybean at 8+5 but can't help but panic something has happened!

Wispa i would like to join the fb page also!

Slightly panicking today, symptoms wearing off... well I managed to eat french toast for breakfast and only a wee bit nausea and boobs not as sore. Got a crazy headache though and feel abit shirt tempered today!

wispaxmas · 27/07/2016 12:32

Just send me a private message (through the MN website, not the talk app) with your email address and I can send the invitation. It's all secret so won't show up under groups or on your feed at all.
