Crazy that we are onto thread 4 already!

Just starting the 12-week scans, but still feet firmly in the anxiety-ridden first trimester, yikes!

Grrr lack of sleep! I mean told today lol!!

ButtonTum · 26/07/2016 08:01

Ive already started wearing a baby on board badge about 2 weeks ago when MS was at it's peak; I commute from Herts and have a journey of 90 mins so want to guarantee my seat. Saw a colleague on the train Friday (the moment is sat down and not had a chance to take it off!) so think I'm sprung already. Pretended not to notice her in hope she's get hint and not tell anyone!

Oh Cinderella I'm so sorry Flowers good luck for weds. Thinking of you.

Sparkles that's a great pic congrats and good luck today Carly!

SBSparkles · 26/07/2016 08:03

Agh Carly if you had a scan two weeks ago I'm sure it'll be fine! Hilariously, my morning sickness seems to be returning! After going at 9 weeks which caused me to worry!
Sorry to hear you have been through the mill as well! Ivf was so hard especially just before the egg retrieval! I ended up with 20 eggs some of which were 3cm wide! I couldn't sit at a table!! Then the constant injecting into the stomach for 7 weeks - just awful! It seems common that a lot of people go on to conceive naturally afterwards! Fingers crossed for your scan today xxxx

Evergreen17 · 26/07/2016 08:04

Sparkles very happy for you. Particularly after hearing your TTC journey.
SmileFlowersFlowers

TTC and pregnancy are definitely not what I thought they would be. People dont talk about their struggles and I guess I only ever knew about successful pregnancies from friends and TV stories.

I have 9 days until my scan. DP keep saying not to count my chickens Sad because we just don't know what will happen.

But I have to say I was a lot more worried and miserable weeks 4 to 9
Then I realised I could not worry any more for my own mental health!!

I said that of we have bad news we are booking a trip to America next year. Kind of trying to be in the mindset of there is more to life than... But all this will go through the window if we did get bad news of course, it is just easy to say it now.

Anyway. I hope everyone having scans this weeks get good news, too many bad ones already

Evergreen17 · 26/07/2016 08:31

Not pregnancy related but what do people mean with this Biscuit
I have seen it lots on AIBU threads

SkyLucy · 26/07/2016 08:34

Excellent news sparkles, especially after such a difficult time. Best of luck today Carly.

Button - I commute from Herts too. Do you come into Euston? If you saw a woman sobbing on her husband outside Boots yesterday that was me...the MS/packed train combo got a little bit too much for me! For shame. Poor Mr Skylucy!

Thanks to everyone for sharing the scan news, good and bad. I love to see all the support on this thread Smile

IfAtFirstUDontSucceed · 26/07/2016 08:38

Oh Cinderella that is heartbreaking, I'm so sorry Sad I really wish the NHS were able to offer a viability scan. It is so sad that some people are given bad news at their 12 week scan.

I honestly think my nausea is going and I'm so relieved. I've actually eaten like a normal adult this weekend. Although, I do still get a sickly feeling if I go too long without food.

My belly has well and truly popped now. I think I may have to tell the folk at work soon before they all guess.
I've also got that point shape on my tummy when I sit up from lying down already. I had it in the later stages with DS so it was a shock to see it so soon. Apparently it's not good, and means your stomach muscles are shot. I think I may have to see if there are any exercises I should be doing to strengthen them!

2ManySweets · 26/07/2016 08:51

evergreen, think it's sarcastic, means "aw, diddums"

Kellz92 · 26/07/2016 08:55

Cinderella - I am so sorry honey

Ready - My veins are horrendous, my midwife ahs put a red sticky on my file lol

Diva - Hope they get bloods

London - they go for my hand most times as its the only place im guarenteed at least a wee bit of blood to trickle out

SBS - Lovely clear pic, congrats

Carly - I have had 3 scans already and im still nervous for Monday, last scan only being a few days ago lol

Evergreen - i think it means Am I Being Unreasonable

xxx

kikisdelivery · 26/07/2016 09:01

Evergreen, I one million percent agree with you. I never in a million years thought that the first 12 weeks would be so full of worries and twinges and concerns that something does/doesn't/might/might not feel right.

I've tried so hard to stay away from Google because it's everyone's enemy, after all, but it's so easy to think "Oh I'll just check on whether that seems "normal"" and then freak myself out badly.

My scan is on Monday and it's my very first one because we didn't pay for anything private or anything. I won't lie, the closer it gets the more nervous I am. I just don't know what to expect, how I'll react, what they'll see... all silly worries I know, and probably normal, but damn my hormones. I haven't even booked the day off - I'm just nipping up to the hospital, having it done, then coming back. The other half's coming too, but were it to be bad news, I don't know that I'd want to go back to work.

This journey is certainly different to what I was expecting, shall we say! Shock

lawyeredout82 · 26/07/2016 09:04

I also commute into the city from Herts and just started wearing the baby on board badge last week after my scan. Yesterday was a shocker - I was beyond tired and spent the whole day being sick. Literally couldn't hold down a single bit of food. Just emailed work to say that I'm going to work from home today but I must look like such a flake - I am really struggling 😢.

Cinderella - I am so sorry to hear about your scan. I have everything crossed for you this week xx

wm3010 · 26/07/2016 09:04

Cinderella I am so sorry.

Ifatfirst I did yoga last time round and the lady there was very clued up on ab problems. She told us never to sit up in bed, always roll to side then use hands to push body up. Essentially avoid anything using abs as I think it is damage limitation at this stage, you can't really strengthen the muscles as they are stretched. Would be worth seeing a women's health physio though as they may be able to help.

twocatsandatoddler · 26/07/2016 09:08

So sorry to hear that cinderella Flowers

twocatsandatoddler · 26/07/2016 09:10

Seems there's quite a few of us in Herts!
I'm in East Herts commuting into Liv St, thankfully my trains are usually nice and quiet if I get the right ones so I don't need the badge.

FriendlyGhost · 26/07/2016 09:22

Ifatfirst I have muscle separation from last time (diastasis recti) and had classes to narrow the gap. Unfortunately they're still weakened so I think that's why my bump is showing so early. You can't do much during pregnancy as the muscles have to separate but you can minimise the damage. Don't ever try doing proper sit ups (yay!) or sitting up from lying down. Roll on your side first. Also try deep breathing and engaging and holding your pelvic floor muscles. They're all connected and it's important to keep them strong during pregnancy.

SkyLucy · 26/07/2016 09:43

Oh lawyered, I gave up today too and am working from home. I'm writing this from my bed...sat in my dressing gown, sucking on grapes! I know it feels rubbish to be 'flaky' but it's only temporary, and I genuinely feel so much better (and am more productive when not on MN) in the comfort of my own home.

Having said that - are you a lawyer as per your name? I'm very aware that I'm a lucky sod who works in the arts...we're a flaky bunch at the best of times!! I'm sure there are many work environments which sadly aren't as forgiving.

SpinALittleFaster · 26/07/2016 10:04

6 more days until my scan. This will be my 4th scan but it's not overly reassuring since they keep calling me back and last time there was still a huge pocket of blood.

evergreen I wanted to book a last minute trip to America but then heard they've potentially got zika now so can't really justify it. The first thing I do next week it it's bad news is book something. I feel like I need a break already.

SausageDogGeorge · 26/07/2016 10:23

Thats such a lovely, clear scan picture sparkles I bet you are over the moon!!

Anyone else having weird cravings yet?! I am obsessed with eating Special K!! I absolutely love it at the moment - I also like anything that isn't good for me unfortunately! Grin I don't normally eat McDonalds but i had an overwhelming urge to eat a Quarter Pounder with cheese on Sunday and it was soooooo good!! haha I've promised the DC (13 and 11) that I'll take them to McDonalds for tea tonight as a treat....think its more for me really though!! Blush

SausageDogGeorge · 26/07/2016 10:25

There was a pocket of blood when I went to my private scan at 8 weeks Spin but when I showed the MW the scan photos at my booking in appt she didn't seem concerned at all - said its very common and often just re-absorbs into the body. I'm going for my 12 week scan tomorrow so will find out if its still there. Hope all is ok for you anyway.

SkyLucy · 26/07/2016 10:31

Oh crap, Zika?! I'm going to the US and Hawaii in October. Zika didn't even occur to me........

Kellz92 · 26/07/2016 10:37

kiki I didnt think the first 12 weeks were this bad either! i didnt stress with DD, my scan is monday too but i have had 2 epu and 1 private scan as i was worried after my epu one lol

Lawyered and Sky Hope you feel better soon, wish i was working from home i feel rubbish! hubby said i should have called in sick

Sausage Im craving, slushes, fruity icelollies, icecubes, anything freezing cold and fruity lol

xxx

lawyeredout82 · 26/07/2016 11:17

Sky - yes I am a lawyer! I've only been back from mat leave since the end of Feb (based on current dates DD2 is due on DD1's birthday!) so I'm sure they will think I am taking the mickey. Oh well.

LondonGirl83 · 26/07/2016 11:17

Sparkly congrats on the lovely scan after such a hard journey

Carly good luck for today!

I have a free scan today with a consultant I'm meeting, though its not my 12 week scan-- that's on August 10th. I am about 10+3 today but wanted another scan before I go on holiday as I'll tell my family face to face when I see them about the pregnancy.

I am still waiting for my Panorama test results back which hopefully will come before I leave!

Kellz92 · 26/07/2016 11:23

Lawyered DD was due 5th feb (but born a few days early) Im due 5th Feb this time again - 4 years apart though lol

London Hope scan goes well

xx

SBSparkles · 26/07/2016 11:28

Guys can I ask you a question? A close friend of mine called me today after seeing my scan picture and pregnancy announcement on Facebook. She said to me 'be careful of what you put on fb as if anything happened you would have to explain it and it would be awful'. I'm pretty upset as I was so excited and happy before and now she's made me feel annoyed and put that doubt in my mind. I told her to mind her own business and that I didn't appreciate the comment. Any thoughts?
