That's a great couple of scans today ladies, congrats!

Kellz we are scan date buddies (I'll be 12+3) and I think there are others that day too. Only 12 days!

Arrrggghhhh, weird nipple goings on here too! They've been swollen for a few days now and today they are itchy and starting to get a bit sticky?! EWWWWWWW!!

I have two this week, the NHS one Friday and then a follow up scan when we collect our private Harmony results on Saturday.

london DS is 2 and we have never needed a car, we won't be getting one for second either. Though we do live 5 mins from the tube. I've always used a sling on public transport (still do). And have two v good pushchairs for local walks. The only time a car would be useful is visiting grandparents, but we are lucky and they have bought car seats, pushchairs and travel cots for their houses, so we just get the train with DS in sling and overnight bags.
We do have our own car seat though for emergencies and for rental cars on holiday.

Look at all the lovely scan pictures. we've caved and booked I'm a private one on Friday when I'll be 10+6. We want to be able to tell DHs family before SILs wedding at the weekend. Also the fact that my NHS dating scan isn't until the 11th August.

No sign of the nausea and vomiting lifting here just yet and I've got a definite belly now. My work trousers are falling off me with the weight I've lost - properly hanging off my bum and legs, but are cutting in to my tummy when I sit down. I actually tried on some maternity jeans today and they were so comfy, so I might go shopping tomorrow for clothes that actually fit me.

Fenella thanks for the tip. The dress I ended up buying would accommodate a bit of a bump if needed, perfect shape

Oh yes!! After 9 hours of my feet I got dress, shoes, bra and things for my hair

Haven't posted since my scan last week. Things move so fast.
Congratulations for all the lovely scan news!
We are starting to tell friends and family who don't already know, now following the scan, also it is becoming pretty obvious as I have a noticeable bump now. Am doing it in person though rather than emails. Will tell work tomorrow, although I've been back for well over a year I still feel a bit bad! Maybe as its my 3rd?! Not sure. Am sure they will be happy for me.

Carrie what's the difference between the nhs and private harmony ones??

radders they are both nuchal scans. Our private one is just about triple the length, they test for lots of extra soft markers in the baby that can indicate problems and comes as a package with having the Harmony blood test, which I have already had, just waiting for the results.

We are having all the extras as last time I lost the baby at just over 13 weeks. The baby had a huge nuchal fold and we were in the middle of investigations for either Edwards or Patau when I lost him/her. This time round I wanted to be prepared with an early Harmony to rule out any problems as early as possible

IfAtFirst I had a private at 8+6, to put my mind to ease after baby being too small at EPU scan at 6+4 :)

I told my boss at work yesterday, as the week where everyone in the office except me and a guy who is mostly out on site is on holiday, i tried changing the scan and consultant but no luck and i didnt really want to wait as my scan is already at 13+1, i didnt even get a congratulations, im not sure if it just didnt register with him, but he is a sour faced git at the best of times. Oh well he knows now ill enjoy being pregnant again xx

carrie and radders. Harmony is a DNA scan rather than just a simple sonogram test looking at nuchal folds, which is what the NHS do in combination with assessing hormone levels etc as a first step.

Because Harmony analyses fragments of the baby's DNA that are in the mothers blood stream it's far more accurate at assessing various chromosomal abnormalities and is also why you can find out the sex.

Most NHS trusts do not offer Harmony (or other NIPT DNA tests) in the first instance but rather the far less accurate combined scan and hormonal blood exam.

If that comes up as high risk the NHS usually offers CVS / amniocentesis to the parents. These tests are 100 percent accurate as they take the baby's DNA directly but as it involves piercing the amniotic sac it comes with a 1 percent chance of miscarriage. Some trusts now offer Harmony or other NIPT exams instead of aminocentisis if a woman comes up as high risk in the NHS's initial combined screening test, though this isn't common yet.

The reasons to pay for the private Harmony DNA test is if you want a more accurate assessment than the NHS combined test, if you are uncomfortable with the risks surrounding aminocentisis or if you want to know as earlier as possible - Harmony can be done at 10 weeks with results back in 5 days while other NIPT DNA exams like panorama can be done at 9 weeks.

Less than a week until my scan now, can't wait. Does anyone else still feel like they aren't actually pregnant despite symptoms?! I remember feeling a bit like this with dd until I had the first scan. Also I think because I fell pregnant so fast this time it doesn't feel real yet.

I'm due 10 Feb with DC number 3! Going for my 12 week scan on 27th when i'll be 11+5. Had a private scan at 8 weeks and there was a bleed but also a strong heartbeat so was just advised to take it easy - midwife didn't seem concerned about it at the booking in appt - said its quite a common thing.

I've started a separate thread but will probably get better response on this one - I am really suffering at the moment with such an awful bad temper - i mean, it is really bad I go mad over the smallest things, throw things, am nasty and say the most awful things - i feel like i will explode with anger . I suffered previously with terrible PMT for which i took anti-depressants and also had hypnotherapy and reflexology which really helped - i have always suffered with my hormones and had to have the (hormone) coil taken out after only a couple of months because I was so awful on it - i just have zero patience, throw things in rage and generally am a moody pig. Has anyone else suffered with this during pregnancy? It is causing massive rows every few days with my DP as he is getting the worst of it and is sick of me (i'd be sick of me!) thanks

The ladies talking about the harmony testing I have booked mine for Monday with ultrasound direct. It's a lot of money but to us it is very important to find out about any issues. As harsh as it sounds we have to think of the family we have already.

I have done so much reading about it and feel that it's the right thing for us.

We will still have the nhs testing as that's on Tuesday but I know it will come out as a high risk factor because of my age.

We have our private scan this afternoon, I'm so nervous I don't really know what to do with myself, I've read too many bad stories (by accident just by looking up 9 week scans) that I'm now convinced it will all go wrong.
My dh is a complete optimist and says everything will be fine but I just think it won't be.
Sorry to be such a moaner, I just don't know what to do with myself.
Is this normal or am I really dramatic?

I also had the harmony test this time with ultrasound direct. I had it on Monday (when I was 11+2) and they do a scan at the same time so that was lovely! Like others have posted above, I wanted to have a more accurate result than the NHS scan as we have a DD already so it would not just impact on us if ther results came back with any issues.

Results due back over the next couple of days - we've also asked to find out the gender so that will feel really strange to have confirmation this early!!! Xx

Lawyeredout. How in depth and long was the scan they gave you? Did you get good pictures to take away?

dreaming you sound exactly like me and my hubby, he too is the eternal optimist while I worry over everything! How your feeling is totally Normal. And unfortunately if your like me doesn't go away. Our baby is an ivf baby so we scanned at 6 and 9 weeks and have our 12 week one next Tuesday. I wasn't too bad for the 6 week scan but by the 9 week one I was so convinced baby would have stopped growing that as soon as our lovely nurse shut the door I broke down and started sobbing, however we got to see our precious bubba looking so much like a baby it was amazing and wiggling all over the place! But once again I am convinced I will go to my 12 week scan on Tuesday and it all be over! I have no words of advice on how to deal with it, other than I keep telling myself it will be ok and it's our turn finally, but just to say it's totally normal and once you see your baby on the screen later today you will feel on top of the world. It truly is the most amazing experience! Enjoy xx

kellz that's the exact date I am going to book a gender scan, gonna take my mum for her birthday 😊 I will be 17+5. To nervous to book one yet though as booked one with previous pregnancy early on and didn't get far enough to go. Thinking I will do it if 12 week scan is ok...although will then probably find some other hurdle to overcome before I let myself book it lol!
