Crazy that we are onto thread 4 already!

Just starting the 12-week scans, but still feet firmly in the anxiety-ridden first trimester, yikes!

I doubt it's mislabelling as I can't have them done at my GP surgery so I'd have to go back to the hospital - so it would be a call or a letter from them in that case.

Probably iron levels or a UTI I guess - something that would need a doctor's prescription rather than a midwife. I'm taking supplements with iron in though, and I haven't really been that tired considering I'm in my first trimester of pregnancy!

SkyLucy · 19/07/2016 16:41

I'm desperate for a scan date so I plucked up the courage to ask my brusque midwife if she'd heard anything and she said I'd hear in two weeks. My booking appt was two weeks ago! According to their records I'll be 12 weeks before they even tell me when the scan is! Grrr.

twocatsandatoddler · 19/07/2016 17:04

sky I had the opposite problem where I had a scan date though the post but no booking appointment. I called the hospital directly and turns out they'd misplaced my referral, and they made me an appointment over the phone. It might be worth calling the antenatal ultrasound dept at your hospital directly as they should be able to tell you when your appointment is or make you one if they haven't already.

LondonGirl83 · 19/07/2016 17:12

Sky I'd try to find another way to chase that up.

When I self referred to my hospital when I was 6 weeks, I got both the booking appointment date and the scan date by post within a week.

There are time limits regarding when the 12 scan can be done so see if there is someone else you can speak to. I tend to be pushy so sorry if that seems too aggressive but at the end of the day no one cares more about you and your baby than you! Don't just accept poor service.

LondonGirl83 · 19/07/2016 17:14

Two cats I'm sure if it was anything serious they GP would have rung you herself and told you to bring DP. As it stands, it sounds like something routine to be discussed or cleared up.

Lala6971 · 19/07/2016 17:36

Ladies I wondered if anyone could help me...I am a bit confused (first timer). So my pregnancy is consultant led (ivf baby and high bmi - by 1 bloody point lol!) anyway I got my first consultant appt come through today for when I will be 16 weeks....however I vaguely remember at my booking in the midwife saying if you have a consultant appt around the time your due a midwife appt you don't need the midwife appt as consultant appt replaces it. SO I am guessing I shouldn't call and book a 16 week midwife appt?

Huge congrats on all the great scan news!

GinandJazzHands · 19/07/2016 19:17

MrsM have you been to the docs for anti sickness meds? Sounds like you are not having a fun time of it and meds may really help, esp as you are getting married!

GinandJazzHands · 19/07/2016 19:20

I have my first appointment with a midwife on Friday but the letter says its at the hospital and I'll probably have a scan. So I guess I'm getting the booking in and scan appointment at the same time? I'll be 11.5 weeks from LMP but I know from ov and my early scan I'll only be 9.5 so if I don't get scanned I'm not too worried. Might just wait and see.

twocatsandatoddler · 19/07/2016 19:44

So still no idea what the doctor appointment is about tomorrow, but I got an unrelated call from the midwife at the hospital this evening.

They had the results of the blood screening from yesterday and it turns out my level of one of the hormones (PAPP-A) is borderline low. This can be an indicator of Down's (although other indicators looked ok so I'm still what they consider low risk at 1 in 244) but I think more importantly, if the baby is chromasomally 'normal', it can mean the placenta isn't functioning properly and so can lead to problems with the growth of the baby, and I have an increased risk of developing pre-eclampsia and other serious complications (I googled it and probably shouldn't have!). I have my 20 week scan as normal, but then an additional scan at around 23 weeks with a consultant in FMU to check the placental function.

Has anyone come across this before?

While I was on the phone to the midwife i asked her to check my booking bloods and all fine so none the wiser about the GP calling me in!

SkyLucy · 19/07/2016 20:10

Thanks London and twocats - I'll give the hospital a call tomorrow. Can't help at all with your questions twocats and lala - I'm sure there are a few experienced ladies here who can!

Just tried to cook a stir-fry for DH and his brother. Was almost sick over the cooker!! Am now slumped on the sofa chewing on bread, feeling so sorry for myself!

BohemianRaspberry · 19/07/2016 20:22

Hopefully all is okay two cats Flowers

So blimmin hot today I can't cope, just feel horribly nauseous all day and parenting an over tired and over heated toddler is the worst. He still awake now. Sad

H007 · 19/07/2016 21:03

lala I would keep your 16 week MW as that is usually the one that they listen for a heartbeat 😊 I can't remember the consultant ever doing that and usual weighed me and asked how I was doing.

Oh my goodness the heat today, went strawberry and raspberry picking and I actually thought I was going to pass out, I felt totally out of control as I stumbled back to a table in the shade. Has not been an enjoyable day.

ButtonTum · 19/07/2016 22:21

Evening all. Just getting ready for bed and noticed my nipples seem to be oozing a clear fluid. Have checked with Dr google and apparently normal. Anyone else? Thought this would be one of the things that happened much later..?!

LuckyinOctober · 19/07/2016 22:34

Thank ladies who've wished me luck, it has definitely been a happy, if crazily hot, day - baby measuring 12+1 which is 3 days further on that I'd thought, nuchal measurement was 1.3 which is low risk, and generally everything looking good. My due date is now 30th Jan so I'm going to hedge my bets and hang out on both this thread and the January one since I'm hovering on the borderline between the two. I'm happy to read it's been a happy scan day for other people too!

SkyLucy · 19/07/2016 22:39

Great news lucky!

Button - "nipples oozing clear liquid"?!?! What fresh hell is that?! ShockShockShock

twocatsandatoddler · 19/07/2016 22:53

Button mine did that last time but not until third trimester. I had to use breast pads which I wasn't expecting to have to do until the baby was born!

Dutchy88 · 20/07/2016 06:29

Button I leaked a lot during the third trimester first time around - I had to wear breast pads.

Sorry I've not posted much, things have been really hectic. I'm 10 weeks today and got a scan on Monday - they're keeping a really close eye after all the problems so far. Fingers crossed it will go well. Then I'll probably tell most people - including my overall boss.

Glad there's been so many positive scans

Dreamingoutloud7 · 20/07/2016 06:58

I'm so glad the scans are going well ladies. I have a 9 week scan tomorrow and I'm so nervous!

I can't believe how much I'm suffering in this heat, never have I been one of those people who moan but it's really affecting me, I feel so bad for any woman I see that is clearly pregnant, if my feet are swelling and it's making me struggle I can't imagine what they're going through Confused

GinIsIn · 20/07/2016 07:29

So after feeling like I was going to die of nausea the weekend before last it switched off like someone flicking a switch the minute I got to 10 weeks, and hasn't come back yet, so now of course I am worrying something is wrong. Still enormous, swollen looking boobs, falling asleep every time I shut my eyes and starting to get the bump but can't help but worry - I am an idiot!

Evergreen17 · 20/07/2016 07:49

Ladies I have been reAding reading reading and just caught up

Congrats on all those 12 w scans

I am 10 weeks today Smile

Saw my bean at 7 weeks and I have 2 more weeks and a day to wait.

Question. Is anyone getting a belly? Particularly people on first pregnancies like me??
Because I am going shopping for my wedding dress (wedding in 2 weeks) and I wonder if belly will grow. I have gained 1.5 kilos already so maybe it is fat or bloated

Will it get any bigger in 2 weeks?

Sorry for mess

ButtonTum · 20/07/2016 08:05

thanks dutchy and twocats. I thought it was just a 3rd trimester thing. Web MD says:

" In the early stages of pregnancy, some women notice clear breast discharge coming from their nipples. In the later stages of pregnancy, this discharge may take on a watery, milky appearance."

Sky I thought the same! Didn't mean to alarm youSmile When I say oozing it wasn't a constant stream!Grin

ButtonTum · 20/07/2016 08:07

Ever you are very slim and under a wedding dress nobody will notice I'm sure. I've not been preggers before but I doubt between 10&12 weeks you'll pop enough to not fit in a dress you buy today.
Speaking of which you're getting married in 2 weeks and don't have a dress?! I couldn't cope with that!!Shock happy shopping Smile

2ManySweets · 20/07/2016 08:44

Button; I think that's colostrum - the "pre-milk" that your baby gets as soon as it's put on your breast for the first time.

I started getting mysterious "crispy discs" on my nightie in the boob area at approx 16w last time - just shows there's a lot of good stuff getting generated in there!

In other news getting so impatient now for my 15 August scan. So so impatient.

Evergreen17 · 20/07/2016 08:56

Button thank you I think it is a flattering pic, BMI NHS tells me I am overweight Confused
But I did lose a bit of weight to TTC because I had PCOS and then miracle!!!! SmileSmile

No dress nope and just went for rings last week

It is just a small wedding Grin

So I will by a size that fits me today and then some spandex and hope it still fits in 2 weeks SmileConfused

Or try it on everyday Grin

Evergreen17 · 20/07/2016 08:58

Any scans today??????GrinGrin
