Jaysecond · 27/02/2007 20:44

hi sorry to gatecrash. Just wanted to say i cant believe theres a due in Oct thread - woweee!! It seems like only five mins ago that we started our Due in March thread, and boy has time flown by!!!! We have already had three births, or is it four..! lol anyway enjoy it while you can and all the very best to you all

J20BABY · 27/02/2007 20:59

aw thanks jaysecond. bit quiet on this thread tonight, nice of you to pop in

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 08:54

fantastic J2O, thanks for posting your scan, always amazing to see.

Mumpbump · 28/02/2007 09:58

Morning all!

J2O - congrats on the positive scan! I don't understand why you're not going to get a 12 week scan too as I thought that was when they had to do the nuchal fold measurement, if you have that checked. Very odd...

B2B - hope that it all went well for you too yesterday...

Had a very early night yesterday so feeling slightly more normal today. Not that it will last as I am out tonight and tomorrow - all I want to do is sleep!! Still, I am having the day off on Monday when my booking-in appointment is so am looking forward to a bit of R&R as well as sorting out our junk room (aka dining room)!

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 10:13

I'm in york and you don't get a nuchal scan as standard here only a 12 week dating scan, if you have a scan after 8 weeks here then you don't get the 12 week one same as you.

I want to have the NF scan due to my age so have to pay privately for it....tis v. annoying (and bloody expensive) as i dont understand why if they are prepared to scan at 12 weeks anyway why cant they just do the extra neck measurement, surely would only take a few extra minutes!!! Anyway whinge over!

zephyrcat · 28/02/2007 10:15

Morning All!

Sorry I missed your post last night J2O - I went off to MSN and forgot to check back here!

Hope everyone is ok today. I can't wait for week 12 when hopefully all this feeling crappy will pass. DD2 keeps waking me up at around 2-3am by standing in the cot and leaning over to grab my face - not fun!! So am absolutely knackered and still feeling sick. I wish it really was 'morning' sickness - I could handle that, it's the fact that it's all day long sickness!

Are any of you finding yourelves eating strange things yet??

I've become quite partial to one of those little tins of mackrel in tomato sauce grilled on toast! Today I'm on a caesar salad mission though - seems to be the craving of the day so far!!

MrsMcJnr · 28/02/2007 10:25

J20 Baby ? So pleased for you, great news. I am very much liking your story hon, really gives me hope what?s your secret? Did you eat some baby bio? M&S chocolate flapjacks and appletisers are my favourite foods at the moment.

B2B ? thinking of you.

Zephrycat ? I wasn?t feeling too nauseous today until you mentioned mackerel in tomato sauce grilled on toast!

Hope all the other golden piglets are fattening up nicely!

zephyrcat · 28/02/2007 10:26

lol sorry!

beanie2bump · 28/02/2007 12:10

hi guys well,, heres how it went,
my last period was 31 december,, cannot really forget as i was going out and not at all impressed by that date makes me about 8 1/2 weeks, my period before that was 10th december, so i had too very close cycles, not really had this recently,,, so am confused, about this..
any way at scan, ]

she done one through my belly and saw baby with beating heart etc, but said it was quite small and could she do an internal, so she does an internal and asks if i have had a long cycle, which i say no,,,

i know from this baby is not measuring up to my dates,

i start to worry as last time baby stoped grwoing and i mc,

they are saying baby is 6 weeks three days when it should be 8 weeeks three days,

they seem to think it is just a case of miscalulation even although i know my dates, etc

they said the baby is in the right place, good fast heartbeat, and they are quite confident with this pregnancy as far as they can be,

i am concerned re the baby being small as i had a extra short cycle and know for sure of my last af date,,,

i have another scan in two weeks

either, i ovualted very late in cycle,

baby is just scrunched up and small and by next time will have grown some, and just looked small at the first scan,

baby is only 6 1/2 weeks and i have two weeks of pregnancy to add on,,,, rar,,

or baby is not growing

i feel full of preg symptoms,

i have been ill these last two weeks and not be able to eat too much,

and i am quite small myself, ???

not sure,,

fingers crossed that baby will continue to grow, xxxxxxx

thinking of the rest of u guys xx

beanie2bump · 28/02/2007 12:11

my god that is long (sorry)

Mumpbump · 28/02/2007 12:19

B2B - that sounds positive and well done on getting the all important heartbeat!

I wasn't sure if your period on New Year's Eve was the first one after your m/c, but I only had one between m/c and falling pg and it was earlier than I was expecting so it has crossed my mind that my cycle might have been off - they are saying I'm one week less than I think I am. Plus if you're small (I am as well!!) you are not going to have a gargantuan baby... At least you'll get to see the baby again soon...

Taichimum · 28/02/2007 12:20

Hi all. I have no sickness and feel for all you sicky ones out there.
Drawback is I am SO FAT already and it is not baby tummy yet. Keep eating out pringles and cake out of boredom as can't drink and too tired to do anything interesting. I am the the biggest I have ever been in my life and not even put on baby weight yet . If there is one thing I wish I had done it would be to loose more weight between babies. I thought intitially 'what is the point , I'll loose it all after no 2'. What a mistake.
For anyone out there doing it for the first time, my advice would be give yourself six months breather and then try and shift pg weight if you want to get pg again.
DS is nearly two and I nearly died trying to carry him this morning.Roll on six months, the thought of another two stone of me added on trying to pick him up is frightening. I think I will soon put a general ban on carrying him anywhere. And maybe a ban on pringles too. Once you pop you can't stop.
End of rant - at least in a few months I'll be able to pretend my big tum is a baby.
Anyone else suffering from over eating?

beanie2bump · 28/02/2007 12:21

no i mc in august and had a reular period since then ... but some how had two in december, ???????

Mumpbump · 28/02/2007 12:25

Very odd, B2B. Perhaps they're right about the dates being out though...

Taichimum - I admit that I find myself eating cr*p. I had a packet of kettle chips yesterday afternoon and I don't normally snack between meals. Am going to buy some popcorn from Pret at lunchtime to munch on as I figure that is healthier. I don't know whether I'm eating more because sometimes I'm starving, but in the evening I am often craving just cereal. Probably not the healthiest diet for a pg woman. But I have noticed a layer of fat developing on my tummy which I had got rid of after ds...

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 12:40

Guilty of eating shedloads here too...especially creme eggs!! There is a thread asking how much r u eating which is making me feel better as at least im not the only one!!

I also didnt lose all of the weight i gained with DS (had just over 1/2 stone to go). In theory i would like not to gain too much this preg but then a creme egg craving will overide this!!

Last preg i did gain early on due to being hungry all the time but then it steadied so hoping this will be the case again.

Mind you im really worried about b'feeding....have never eaten so much in my life as when i was feeding...i had such a sweet tooth and was starving!! BF helping you to lose weight was utter chuff in my case!! At least it came off once i stopped.

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 12:42

B2B...congrats on your heartbeat...the golden piglets are coming along nicely by the sounds of it. If you're small then surely tis logical that you will have a small bean too???

Taichimum · 28/02/2007 12:49

I know what you mean. I put on another stone in the eight months I was breastfeeding. I was STARVING all the time and wanted sugary food, which is not normally my thing. Its crap that you loose weight when you breastfeed. I think mw tell you that to try and make you breastfeed. I lost 1 1/2 stone in three months after I stopped breastfeeding without trying that hard.

ejt1764 · 28/02/2007 13:04

Hi all,

just popping in to sy hi, and say that I put on loads of weight when bf ds - mind you, in my case,I had put almost nothing on during pg as I was so sick, and was soooooo relieved to be able to eat again that I just ate for Britain.

I had shifted almost all of my excess weght (all but 5lbs), and was a reasonable size before I got pg, but am just eating what I can now - sod the calories - I've shifted it once, I can do it again!

I loved bf - but ignored most of the advice given to me (ds had a dummy as he was a very sucky baby - I used nipple shields for a week or so, as my nips were so sore - and ds had his first bottle of expressed bm at 3 weeks old!) I intend to do exactly the same this time ..... in the end, I bf until ds was 8 months old, then the twin pressures of being back at work full-time (I went back when ds was 5 months old) and ds taking more interest in the world around him than my boobies, meant that we gave up bf.

On a positive note - I sat down and did my sums today, and we can afford for me to take a bigger chunk of time off as mat leave this time! Hurray!

hang on in there - knicker checkers of the world unite.

ejt

Mumpbump · 28/02/2007 13:06

I think you need a minimum amount of body fat in order to bf, so you never shift all of your baby weight until you stop bf.

thehairybabysmum · 28/02/2007 13:29

ejt...ditto nipple shields (life savers) and my ds had first ebm at 3 days old! continued to give himone bottle of ebm every evening as it ws such a relief to have 1 feed which didnt hurt!

I managed 4 months but was chuffed with that as never found it particularly easy

beanie2bump · 28/02/2007 13:51

i have just managed to stop bf, my ds at 18 months, ,,,, i never thought it would happen as he is a boobie monster,,, i only planned to feed for 9-12 months, but have stopped now i am pregnant, but he still tries hard,,
think ill deffo use a bottle very early this time, if all goes well, as i had a nightmare with bottle feeding expressed milk with ds,,,,,
would deffo make life easier, one feed, with daddy

MrsMcJnr · 28/02/2007 13:56

Oh B2B ? how confusing hon, I do feel for you BUT hey, any way you look at it, there was a heartbeat and that has got to be great news! Have you seen J20Baby?s post? ? her bean was 2 weeks behind and caught up 3 weeks in the last 2, it does happen. Being full of pregnancy symtpoms is good too! I?ll be thinking of you. Are you going back for another scan?

beanie2bump · 28/02/2007 13:57

hi yeah i have another scan two weeks on thursday, so we shall see i guess, i should just stop worrying but it is impossible ,,,,,,,

how are u coping with this long wait, is it a week tom, u get scanned

MrsMcJnr · 28/02/2007 15:27

It is a long wait and you won?t be able to stop yourself from worrying but the way I see it, it?s much easier to be positive and hope that everything is ok rather than worrying about the what if?s on the other side as that is exhausting. The days will pass, quickly or slowly and if everything is ok, we will have wasted that time worrying for no reason. Somehow if bad things happen you find the strength to deal with them don?t you? Also, as someone pointed out to me, in the days before scans, we?d be none the wiser. Keep yourself busy but don?t get too tired. If I?m honest, I?m treading water at work; I have so much to do but so little concentration. Talk to me anytime. My scan is a week today and I am getting very nervous already and willing my baby to grow and grow

whoopsee · 28/02/2007 15:38

B2B - what a worry at least you saw the hb, thinking of you.
MrsmcJnr THinking of you too - hopefully the next week will fly by and everything will be ok
Zephyrcat - hope you found the ceasar salad! Had lunch with a friend and again had a disappoinment! I think my tastebuds have gone loopy as everything I look forward to eating has been a let down either that or I'll stop eating
Just over a week now to wait now for my booking in app and then I hope not long til I get a scan!
I'm bored at work now have had a crap morning thanks to our snotty receptionist and have wanted to go home since 9.30 people keep telling me not to stress out but sometimes that's easier said than done with her around
