Hi all - almost 6wks pg. 'Working at home' today, woke up with the most excruciating lower back pain. I wasn't planning to see the doc for the first time for a couple of weeks, but was so bad (hard to walk, sit, bend) I went this morning. She hasn't a clue what's wrong with me - helpful! Anyone else get this?

buffythenappyslayer · 20/02/2007 11:25

morning all!!

beanie,im the same as you!worrying because ive not got my head stuck down the loo all teh time!!

had v bad sickness with my other 5 and only felt sick last week, was sick once and have been fine since!!

i keep re testing!even though i know i am im worried taht im not!!!good job i got 25 tests off ebay!!

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 11:27

Hi Mandler and congrats. Re: back ache, maybe a trapped nerve? Usually comes in later pg, but I guess it might be... Otherwise, I can't even begin to guess!!

mandler · 20/02/2007 11:32

God I am not great at this - every twinge, pain, etc I burst into tears. First pg obviously!! Seems like forever until 12 weeks....

manitz · 20/02/2007 11:36

hello all
sorry to hear about widget. Hope she is recovering.

I'm not sick enough yet and have been having some pains so am not totally relaxed yet.

Can't fit my jeans any more even when I lie down so am in some old maternity trousers. so humiliating when I'm only 6 weeks but i've put on loads of weight with the last two and never really looked like I wasn't pregnant at any point. am going to try not to put on too much this time.

As a result of all this excess weight I've also been getting lower back pain so I'm trying to sit properly and do pelvic floors.

Can't remember who mentioned the back pain but when I did my back in a year or so ago they advised nurofen - obviously don't do that- and also to sleep on side fetus style so no arm on pillow etc. it really helps to stretch the spine and make it better.

Also sorry that I contributed to the scare stories but verso i'm really happy to read yours as it's so nice to know someone is going through something similar. Mrs Mc I'm not worried at all about how it will come out and I do think that knowledge is all important, I believe that mine was avoidable. Am considering an indy mw this time depending on what this borough offers me in terms of mw support and birthing offers. Our hospital has a particularly bad record re maternity care.

MrsMcJnr · 20/02/2007 11:42

Congratulations Mandler ? Kittiwake and I are on our first too and I certainly know exactly how you feel! feel free to share the despair, believe me, it helps! Had some back pain ? lack of exercise in my case I reckon but nothing like you describe, hope it gets better soon

Buffy ? it?s good to know that even very experienced ladies like you can have niggles of worry too, sorry you are having them though!

Try not to worry Beanie ? they do say every pregnancy is different and maybe you?ll just be lucky and won?t get much MS, I?ve been lucky so far too (though your story of bleeding and no MS leadign to MC is scaring me a bit). Hope you don?t have any bleeding, I find it scary each time it happens and just hope my baby is ok. Enjoy the pampering.

thehairybabysmum · 20/02/2007 12:05

Good to see ther's a few of us worry warts on here...not thats it's good that we're worrying but nice to know we're not alone IYSWIM! It willbe a relief when we allget to 12 weeks!

MrsMc, sorry you're having more bleeding, doesnt help does it, at least it is spotting and on/off. when i had a m/c in nov once the bleeding started it didnt stop til it was done and dusted so hopefully the on/offness is a good sign (??). I do have a few friends who had early bleeding and no subsequent problems. Still got everything crossed for you though!

Hope everyone else feeling ok, apart from the twinges niggles and backache of course!

mandler · 20/02/2007 13:06

Thanks for the welcome! Oh and has everyone developed an intense hatred of their work colleagues - or is that just me?! . Don't they know that working at home means 'leave me alone'?

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 13:17

I made a discovery today - went into Pret a Manger for the first time in months and they sell popcorn. How good is that for being able to munch during the day to combat m/s without piling on loads of weight?? I can reliably tell you that the honey version is quite sickly, but they do salted as well!! Needless to say, both quite extortionately expensive...

beanie2bump · 20/02/2007 13:19

know what u mean about keep testing, i also brough a bundle off ebay and every few days i check the lines to see if they are getting darker, lol...
will be nice to have scan and hopefully all will be ok, and ill feel a little happier, as hopefully we all will!!
Pampering turned to waxing, so not nice nor relaxing but am fuzz free now...
does any one else have early scans, if so when are they?? xx

greedyforbabies · 20/02/2007 13:55

estobi1 - i am near bishops stortford, so same kind of area! i loved your golden pig thing.

hello all other newbies!

i am finding it really had to drag myself away from the ttc boards and come over here! i do the odd post, but i am finding it hard to keep up with everyone!............in fact i am off to look at the stats thread to refamiliarize myself!!!!!!!

i had a scan yesterday (at 7+4) and saw my ickle babies heart beating away! needless to say it made me cry!!!

manitz · 20/02/2007 13:58

mandler yes! when I wasn't sure if I was pg or not I realised that the intolerance and hatred I felt for evreyone around me confirmed a bfp!

Forgot to mention Blooming marvellous have a sale on maternity wear online. I got my fave maternity trousers for short people for £10 from £35.

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 14:04

B2B - I have an early scan on Thursday. Pushed for it because of two previous m/c, but could justify it because I wasn't sure of dates... Think MrsMcJnr also has an early scan on Friday, but can't think of anyone else on this thread...

thehairybabysmum · 20/02/2007 14:11

Fantastic greedy, must have been lovely for you!

I have an early scan too...tomorrow morning, can't wait...just hoping everthing is ok this time and if im lucky will see a heartbeat too.

greedyforbabies · 20/02/2007 14:22

Mumpbump · 20/02/2007 14:23

Greedy - overlooked your post - many, many congratulations!!! So pleased for you...

Hairybabysmum - good luck to you too for tomorrow...

MrsMcJnr · 20/02/2007 14:29

Yes, let's hope we see our Golden Piglets with fabulous heartbeats this week at our scans ladies!

buffythenappyslayer · 20/02/2007 19:19

beanie,i cant help myself from testing all the time!!will prob stop when i run out!!!

i think its cos i feel like im not pg because this early on your just left to get on as normal,my mw was supposed to get in touch, but havent heard anything from her.maybe i'll feel more pg when ive seen her and had a scan!

have sorted my clothes out today and was gobsmacked at how many of my trousers are now too tight!dh reckons its twins!if it is he can give up work and look after 7 kids!!!

jersey · 20/02/2007 19:25

Hi re the back pain, it could be sciatica as I had it after birth of DS1, first 6 months of preg with DS2 and after birth of DS2. Just got rid of it 2 months ago and its back . Thought as I had just got rid of it I might manage to escape it this time.

Congrats on the scans, can't wait for mine.

Curlygirly · 20/02/2007 20:07

Great news Greedy.

Good luck to Mumpbump and MrsMcJnr with your scans.

Saw my GP today. After I told her I am pregnant I mentioned that I was a bit concerned that my bump is so big for 8 wks. She agreed that I am rather large and it means either I have my dates completely wrong or it's twins!!!!!!! Nothing like a bit of reassurance.

J20BABY · 20/02/2007 20:19

hi everybody, welcome and congrats to the newbies
how come everyone keeps retesting?
how soon do your hcc levels go down if something is wrong?

whoopsee · 20/02/2007 20:29

wow curlygirly - when I saw my gp she didn't check my bump as she said even if I was 11 weeks (which is possible!) they wouldn't be able to feel anything!

I am still paranoid I'm having twins and won't rule it out til I have a scan! it doesn't help that people keep winding me up about it too!

How many of you ladies have had a scan and how many have a date? I can't wait for mine or even a date to come through

MrsMcJnr · 20/02/2007 20:31

Gosh Curly when are you going to find out?

J20BABY · 20/02/2007 20:32

i've had an early scan and saw the hb, at 6 weeks and got another on 22 March for dating scan, think i'm about 7 weeks

Curlygirly · 20/02/2007 20:38

I have a private nuchal scan booked for 23rd march and the local hospital one will be around then I guess.
