Hillbilly · 20/02/2007 20:42

Twins!!! Am I right in thinking that would make 5 for you Curlygirly?!
MrsMcJr - Yes you're right about the Doula. She is a non-medical birthing partner and I found that she was great in liaising with the hospital staff when I was far too busy doing other things.....like having horrendous contractions........in fact the way she screamed for an epidural for me was pretty impressive!
Good luck to hairybabymum, mumpbump and MrsMcJr for your scans this week.
I retested today as have absolutely no pg symptoms. Anyway, thankfully still positive. Not too surprised at lack of symptoms though as was the same when pg with ds and also with the last pg which ended in mc at 10 wks. Kinda wish I had some feeling of the pg though. Does anyone else have this lack of symptoms?

whoopsee · 20/02/2007 20:42

I was tempted to pay for a dating scan as there is somewhere local to me that does it for £50 unfortunately my car cost more than I thought to get it through its MOT

Curlygirly · 20/02/2007 20:49

I only have 2 ds's at the moment Hillbilly!

Hillbilly · 20/02/2007 20:58

Whoops - I was always rubbish at maths!

Verso · 20/02/2007 22:00

Hello, everyone! Very exciting that some of you are having scans THIS WEEK! (I'm not jellus at all, oohhh nooo ).

Manitz - thanks for your post. I have to say I was rather pleased to find someone with similar exp too.

Not much to report here - less nausea than yday but more dizziness and vertigo.

zephyrcat · 20/02/2007 22:30

Blimey what a huge thread already!!!!

Can I join in?

I've worked out using online calculators that I'm due on 8th October.
It was very accidental and I have to admit that I originally planned a termination - until the scan told me I was expecting twins!!

I'm in severe shock. I have 3 already. If I have twins, I will have 5 children under 6. Help!

manitz · 21/02/2007 08:46

hi again. looked into indy mw s yesterday and phoned a few, they seem lovely and pretty supportive but it's soooo expensive. they are quoting 3 to 3.5 thousand which is a huge chunk of money for us. Sadly I don't think I'm going to get one.

I'm amazed so many are having early scans. My doc has booked me in for first apptment on 9 march so I'll find out what mw's are like round here then. hillbilly how was your doula? looked on doula.co.uk yesterday and thye dont seem to have any round london but think it might be useful for me to use one.

ZC are you sure you are having twins didn't understand 'if it's twins I'll have five'. I thought the scan told you it was? I'm kind of a bit jealous as I have a secret yearning for twins.

i'm now in mat trousers and my hands have already swelled up. can't get my wedding ring off and am getting a bit panicky about it. made the most of it on the tube by stikcing everythign out but still didn't get a seat

best do some work have a good day everyone.

honeyapple · 21/02/2007 09:20

Zephyrcat- Hello and welcome. TBH I'm not sure what the difference is between having a termination with one as opposed to with twins... You could have a termination if it was a singleton PG but not if twins?? So what really made you change your mind?
(JTLUK I'm not anti-abortion at all)

I am still not feeling very PG...apart from boobs are def bigger and so are nips. It's kind of annoying because my left boob always gets a bit bigger than the right when PG and breastfeeding! And it appears to be going the same way this time. I remember being quite paranoid about it when BF because babies seemed to prefer the big one! and so made the right one even smaller!!! I dont like being wonky!

Am off to see a friends wee new baby this morning- she knows we have been TTC, but i am going to have to keep the BFP a secret for a bit longer. But it's hard.

hertsnessex · 21/02/2007 09:24

Manitz, just to say there are alot round london, but DUK site is currently down as its being updated.

I work in london, as does marslady, and im sure a cpl of others on here, and loads more on DUK.

If you need any help finding someone you can mail me and I will ask on the members forum on DUK.

Mumpbump · 21/02/2007 10:36

Good morning all!!

Hairybabysmum - I have my fingers crossed for positive news from your scan...

Hillbilly - I have no pg symptoms other than the occasional wave of very mild nausea and the increasing size of my waistline/bust.

Buffy, Zephyrcat (hello!) and Curly - twins!!! Wow - you're all going to have your work cut out!! I think it's great though - my neighbour had twins in her second pg and they're ever so sweet together and keep each other entertained now they're one. Just the early days that are very hard work!!

Have to do some work so will just say hello to everyone else!

Had to go to a work function last night and decided that I couldn't get away with not drinking at all. Unfortunately, I wound up drinking more than intended and getting ticked off by dh when I got home!! Feeling slightly worse for wear this morning - clearly I have zero alcohol tolerance this time round... Plus I'm feeling a bit foolish for drinking at all after having 2 m/c.

J20BABY · 21/02/2007 10:59

hi Zephr, i followed your last post, but had a little name change, when i posted.

so glad you've made your decision, congrats!

mump, i went out on sat, and had a little to drink , needed the release i think, but boy did i suffer on sunday, don't feel too bad-needs must. i reasoned that the feeling of chilling out for a few hours would benefit me more than being glum all night.

never again though!

buffythenappyslayer · 21/02/2007 11:08

mumpbump,im not having twins!!!at least i dnt think i am!!

dh keeps winding me up about it as my belly is already getting big!

dd3 was twins but one died at 12 weeks,so if i find out this time it is twins,i'll be panicking soooo much!!thatd mean id have 7 kids!!!!

still no real pg symptoms!id should be thankful i know, but it just makes mme worry.my boobs have started hurting this morning and dd climbed on me and i was in agony!!they feel like 2 rocks when i lay on my belly aswell.

also am starting to think i may be further on than i thought,my belly is hard at the bottom, even dh could feel it.my lmp was 4th jan,but it only lasted a day and bit,and wasnt like normal.guess just have to wait for a scan!

J20BABY · 21/02/2007 11:11

hi buffy, maybe you are further on, i had a period with my my first child ( sorry don't know the acrynon for period )

J20BABY · 21/02/2007 11:12

sorry mean acronym

mandler · 21/02/2007 11:58

How come the early scans? Sorry I am awfully green..... My other question of the day is about teling my mum. Have you all told parents yet? She is such a worrier though (wonder if that's where I get it from ?

Mumpbump · 21/02/2007 12:19

Hi Mandler. The early scans are for those of us who have previously had m/c or are experiencing worrying symptoms, like spotting or bleeding.

I didn't know about my first pg after ds was born because I was still breastfeeding so didn't have periods anyway, but told my parents quite early with all three pg that I have known about.

Verso · 21/02/2007 12:35

Haven't told my Mum yet although I'm tempted. Am trying to resist though.

Am thinking of getting my mat trousers out of the loft as things are very snug - which is slightly depressing as it seems like only 5mins since I got my BFP!

Acronym for period is AF, btw ;)

Verso · 21/02/2007 12:37

P.S. I work in London too. I remember last time ending up wearing BRIGHT RED maternity tops and shoving my tummy out and still not getting a seat. I once almost got trampled in a stampede of people trying to get past me to a vacant seat (I couldn't move fast as I had SPD). Anyone going to get one of those (very tasteful) huge pregnancy badges for public transport?!

mandler · 21/02/2007 13:04

Will keep everything crossed for the early scans - good luck.

manitz · 21/02/2007 13:18

I have never seen those pg badges and I'm not sure I could, dont' really like those tshirts with slogans either. The last two I got (really) big during winter so took my coat off every time I got on the train. found dlr never offer you a seat but district line you get more offers. Now live on metropolitan but have no previous experience of seat offers. So far I'd say no, today had to sit opposite a builder with muddy wellies on the seat and legs spread so I had to look at his groin the whole way in. last time a guy tried to pick a fight with me when i was 6m pg because my leg kept touching his - he was clearly a nutta tho.

hertsandessex I don't have the cat thingy for this site but would love to know if there's anyone close by. how much does a doula tend to cost? I'm mainly looking for support in my decisions and for dh who likes the idea of an ecs because he doesn't like anythign out of control - labour not his optimum situation. I thought the site must be down as I tried other areas and there seemed to be no doulas anywhere. will set up a new email and put it in a post.

manitz · 21/02/2007 13:21

ps I have told everybody now. mum and dad think we are incapable of looking after the 2 we have so are nervous - mum also concerned about 'down there'- her words. everyone else quite pleased I think including the man in the newsagents/optician/chemist.

gemmamc · 21/02/2007 13:24

Hi!

I'm new...

I don't have children yet - hopefully this will be my first (I had a m/c in September), due on 22 October.

I also live in London - not so happy to hear it's hard to get people to give up their seat.

As for whether to tell parents...last time I did so almost immediately. But then they could not resist telling lots of relatives and friends, which then also had to be told about the m/c.

So, this time I'd rather wait a bit longer but no way I can resist until week 12. Mind you, I think we should not be ashamed about things going wrong, and it's nice to have people's support when it happens - but it's also nice to have a choice who to tell and who not to tell.

In any case, I hope everything goes well for all of us...

mandler · 21/02/2007 13:28

HI gmc, congrats! Have changed my mind (again) about telling mum. Maybe next week....
But telling work, that is an issue, I have had to take all this week off for backache, and now the boss wants to come see me at home tomorrow! Surely that's not normal?! Anyway I am a useless liar in face to face situations so I don't know what to do (except to try to put her off)

Mumpbump · 21/02/2007 13:31

Hi Gemma - I bet if you tell your parents this time around, they won't be so quick to tell other relatives, particularly if you say you'd rather they didn't as it is still early days.

There is a separate stats thread for posting your due date and everything. Hopefully, I will put my stats on there tomorrow if the scan picks up a heartbeat...

angie17 · 21/02/2007 13:33

Hi can I also join in.

Have been lurking on this thread for a bit but thought I would take the plunge! I am due on 23 Oct and have my 1st midwife appt in a few weeks. I have one ds (2.5 yrs). I have just had the most eventful week - I found out I was pregnant, today is my last day at work (I handed my notice in a few weeks back before I had my bfp) and my dh has just been offered a job in Yorkshire so it looks like we are moving. Not sure how I am going to cope in a new area with 2 kids but looking forward to the challenge!
