A home for all of us enjoying the surreality of the first trimester. We're sick as dogs, exhausted to the core, our boobs hurt, we've developed superhuman senses of smell and we're shirking all alcoholic bevvies with a variety of lame excuses...

...we're preggers and over the moon! Join us if you're due in February 2017 and fancy wisdom for the weirdness, support for any sadness, and a safe place where you can get excited about what the future holds, before you go public!

Third thread already (we're a chatty bunch!) Second thread here: www.mumsnet.com/Talk/antenatal_clubs/2662110-Due-in-February-2017-thread-2?

Food/drink I can currently stomach:
Cereal - must be v moist
Pain aux raisins (warmed in the oven)
Fig rolls
Mango
Chips and eggs with lots of salt
Apple juice (can be slightly watered down)

I was in tears today when trying to think of something for lunch. I ended up having a slice of French toast with a LOT of cinnamon sugar on it.

Itslittlek · 05/07/2016 16:10

gum god I understand that feeling...I open the fridge and its like a feeling of instant sadness...its mental!

Also I feel like whatever I am eating is just lingering in my mouth for ages, is anyone else?

bird do not panic....loads of us have had this as well, myself included. I really would try to just keep calm. I know its so hard the bleeding and to think the worst but its very common! x

SpinALittleFaster · 05/07/2016 16:11

Great news scary

twocats exactly! We had a reflux baby so often had to change her twice before leaving the house. Really couldn't have been bothered with that if she'd been in an outfit.

wispa my SIL turned up at the hospital with bags full of clothes for DD. We got loads from random people and for the most part it was all outfits.

gumboots omg you must be feeling bad. I'm practically stalking the postman for my sale order!

Haz I saw some lovely duck sleepsuits in Next today. Think they're new so will probably still be around in a couple of months ;)

Scarydinosaurs · 05/07/2016 16:55

haz I have an unusual name and love it. I had teasing, but it never crossed my mind that with another name it wouldn't happen with any other aspect of my personality.

Hazandduck · 05/07/2016 17:00

Oohspin now you are tempting me to go in there!! Must wait one more month..! :)

scary yes that's it, I find the people who automatically say shit like that have never personally experienced bullying and don't realise it is anything, absolutely anything they will find to pick on! It is something I fear most about having children, that helplessness. OH and I went all through school together and were both very quiet, shy children. I'm hoping my confident little sister will rub off on her niece or nephew! Xx

LondonGirl83 · 05/07/2016 17:27

Birdoo sorry to hear you are bleeding. It may be nothing. Its a good sign you still have strong symptoms. Hopefully, you can get to the epu tomorrow morning and they can give you an idea of what's going on.

GinandJazzHands · 05/07/2016 17:35

jp try not to worry lovely that sounds totally normal. I'm only 7 weeks today and was pretty symptomless until 6 when I've had ms every day since (bar a two day break at the weekend which was lovely and I almost ruined worrying about the symptoms going).
bird I'm really sorry you are going through this anxiety on your own, def get yourself to epu and remember that lots on here have had bleeding and totally healthy little beans.
Welcome to all of the newbies!
I feel like utter crap today. Vomited this morning, made it to work, felt so awful again by lunch time I almost cried in front of my team. Ended up coming home, also forcing down some French toast and sleeping until five. Feel like I'm going to be sick again. This thread is helping me feel less lonely! Found out about a second close friend who has just mc'd at 11 weeks. So very sad for her and trying not to count my chickens.

GinandJazzHands · 05/07/2016 17:41

We've got both a boy's and a girl's name in mind. I obviously think they are both beautiful names, neither are massively common but the boy's is more rare, and also pretty posh sounding. Neither of us come from a family of Hugo/Tarquins etc so I'm a bit worries about the reaction. It can be shortened into a less posh name (in the same way a Benedict could be Ben), but we both love it so much we are not even mentioning it to our parents as I find people are much less rude about a name once the baby is born and they have zero chance of changing your mind!

LondonGirl83 · 05/07/2016 17:55

A friend told me she stopped telling people what she intended to name her little girl after getting some rude reactions. It honestly never occurred to me people could be so insensitive.

GinandJazzHands · 05/07/2016 18:12

RE baby clothes I havent started looking yet but excited about this bit. That said its all a bit of a mystery as its our first. No idea how much of anything you need! Def going to invest in neutrals though.

wispaxmas · 05/07/2016 18:20

We didn't tell anyone our name choices last time, it drove my mother nuts!! We didn't expect anyone to say anything other than they loved it, but we wanted to keep something to ourselves, especially as I felt strongly that we couldn't KNOW the name would suit her, so had to wait for her to be born before ruling out the back up names.

Hazandduck · 05/07/2016 18:53

Gin Hugo is our favourite boy name haha. I know it is one of those posh sounding names but we aren't a posh family so hopefully he'll just grow up as our little down to earth Hugsy bear! We've always loved it. I also know it's one of those dividers but hey ho. If you like a name go for it, bugger the class stigmas :) X

PhoebeGeebee · 05/07/2016 19:45

We're going to find out the sex (I'm convinced it's a boy) but not telling anyone the name. We've got our girls and boys names pretty much sorted but I know people will raise an eyebrow as they're a little more unusual - neither of them are in the top 100 - so we'll be keeping schtum much to my brothers annoyance!

Hazandduck · 05/07/2016 19:54

Phoebe your name was on our list for years, but someone we know had a little girl last year and used that name so we can't really now. It's a lovely name :) I love lots of different names haha. Girl ones are hardest for me to pick, there are so many pretty names out there! X

gumbootsandjandals · 05/07/2016 20:00

With #1 both sets of grandparents had opinions on prospective names. My mother thought we should go for a royal name. We kept our shortlist to ourselves however. #1 has a relatively uncommon and slightly old fashioned name. FIL obvs did not like it at first because he admitted he had warmed to it. No one offered opinions during my 2nd pg as they knew we just wouldn't budge. #2 has a very uncommon name, like not even in the top 1000 names. FIL was obvs unsure at first but then he met someone with a child with the same name, so now it's acceptable. My in laws are a bit old fashioned! They were no doubt relieved when my SIL gave her child a name in the top 10.

H007 · 05/07/2016 20:10

OH has just been offered a new job with a pay rise... I'm so happy I could cry and feel I could actually take 9months of maternity now without it affecting our lifestyle too much. Funny how things just fall into place at the right time. Before that I was thinking maybe I'd have to only take 3months or something.

Funtimelem · 05/07/2016 20:10

I'm not telling anyone the names until it's born.

I'm on big soup at the mo, haven't really eaten a main meal for weeks, it's doing my head in! I was craving ice cream stuff for a bit, but I'm lactose intolerant so I couldn't eat it! Also want carbs but then when I load my plate up I feel sick. I know you are only supposed to eat small meals but I always think 'this time it will be different' and it never is. 😖😖

GinIsIn · 05/07/2016 20:14

Successful scan here too! Also dating slightly behind but exactly in line with ovulation. The little heart was beating away- completely amazing!

Hazandduck · 05/07/2016 20:14

funtime how frustrating! Looks like your bean won't be lactose intolerant! Would a sorbet cut it? Last night I was craving home baked cookies that OH baked for me once (when I was trying to be healthy) and it was ridiculous how badly I needed them. Needless to say it was 10pm and he wasn't about to start baking, and because I didn't give in to the craving I was awake til about 2am feeling horribly sick :(

Hazandduck · 05/07/2016 20:14

H aw that's excellent news! X

PhoebeGeebee · 05/07/2016 20:28

Haz my name isn't actually Phoebe! Although I do love it and wanted it, DH doesn't. My surname is Gee though, which is a bloody pain to match a first name to (Gina anyone? Ali?)

Congrats Fenella it's such a relief isn't it?? How far are you now?

BohemianRaspberry · 05/07/2016 20:34

You okay boo?

I'm only having nausea in the evening but I seem to want different things. Tonight it was sausages and mayo!

My biggest want currently is white wine! Blush

H007 · 05/07/2016 20:40

My biggest craving at the moment is Dr Pepper zero 😄

divadee · 05/07/2016 20:41

Still feeling pretty grim here with nausea and dry heaving all over the place. Still craving spicy food at every opportunity which doesn't help nausea and gives me indigestion and now have to move in 2 months time as our landlord has decided to sell I'm hoping I feel better soon with all the boxes I have to pack.

louiseplusditi · 05/07/2016 20:42

Hello all!!
I am approx 8wks3days! No morning sickness for me which I first worried about BUT kinda feel glad about because I hate being sick Sad although I do often feel sick from lunch time until about 8pm!

I was just wandering if anyone is having a lot of dreams/nightmares? It sounds perhaps random but although I have always dreamed a lot (every night) the last couple of nights ive been having nightmares! Especially last night, I had so many bad dreams and kept waking up nearly crying!! I woke up so much and kept waking up feeling sick and ill also! Is this normal??
Im also waking up with a dry mouth! Anyone else getting this or just me catching flies in the night hahaha
