I hear ya! No bleeding but cramping. I'm also really constipated Blush so might be that. I saw the midwife last week and she said all was Normal sounding. I'm on the 2 week scan countdown now

MagpieCursedTea · 30/06/2016 18:09

Digestion slows down in pregnancy which can cause some stomach discomfort. I've been getting quite bloated which felt like cramps. Not very nice but fairly normal!

I had to have a full bladder for my scan this time. I had DS in a different hospital though and didn't need a full bladder for any of the scans. I had my scan today (all went very well and baby behaved brilliantly so the sonographer was very happy). I was given my appointment for the 20 week scan at the end and it says on the letter I'll need a full bladder for that too. That's unusual right?

Oh and my due date is now 4th January for the stats list!

Signoritawhocansway · 01/07/2016 07:55

Hi all. I will update stats list when I'm next at pc. Magpie, sorry about your gestational diabetes. Must be pretty rubbish for you. sunnyoeiny hope your cramps resolve and your mind is put at rest.

It's July finally. But still 19 days until my scan. Dragging.

MagpieCursedTea · 01/07/2016 09:45

Thanks signorita! I hope July moves quickly for you. Time does start to go backwards the closer to the scan date you get.

Magpie did they pick up on gestational diabetes at your booking in appointment? I had mine a fortnight ago and have only just had a call from my doctor's surgery to say that there was an issue with my urine sample and the doctor would call me back later regarding next steps, i.e. whether I needed a new test or antibiotics.

It sounds like an infection to me? Very anxious now as if it is an infection then I've had it for at least a fortnight without being informed. I had assumed blood and urine was normal as they hadn't been in contact which has always been the case before. I'm going to make a bloody nuisance of myself chasing results from now on...

Now waiting for both doctor and community midwife to call with urine and blood results respectively. My local surgery don't have maternity services (I'm in London) so all my appointments are at the hospital, so weird to be contacted by surgery about the results of tests they didn't even do!

An infection might explain why I've felt so much worse during this pregnancy though? Just hoping the bean is okay Sad

user1467356505 · 01/07/2016 10:44

Hi can I please join?! I am due the 6th January 2017 and expecting a girl.
I already have a gorgeous boy who is 31 months - very excited!

Congratulations ladies! xx

MagpieCursedTea · 01/07/2016 11:07

Wil I had an early GTT as I'd had previous GD. Although in my last pregnancy glucose showed up in my urine before the diagnosis, it didn't this time. I hope you get answers from your doctor soon, though I imagine f it was anything serious they would've contacted you sooner. I'd say try not to worry but I know it's not that easy.

User welcome! You found the sex out early, how exciting!

OP posts:
willoughbywolf · 01/07/2016 11:43

Thanks Magpie I'm still waiting for the doctor to call but managed to get through to the maternity midwife and have a name for it, an infection called Staphylococcus epidermidis. She didn't sound concerned but did say that's probably why I've been feeling so ill (morning sickness has been on another level this time around have not been able to look after my 2 year old DS -- thankfully we're living with my lovely PIL at the moment and they've been a huge help).

Will hopefully get the antibiotics this afternoon. Its a relief in the sense that after the infection is cleared my sickness will probably lift and there isn't something more sinister afoot, but I'm cross I've spent the last two weeks with an untreated infection!

Turnertime14 · 01/07/2016 11:50

Due date snap user! Congrats!

MagpieCursedTea · 01/07/2016 11:58

That's rough Wil, good that you'll feel better soon though! I've also been unable to look after my 2 year old properly the last few weeks. I'm lucky my parents live down the road!

DarkLikeVader · 02/07/2016 09:43

I got my screening results back this morning, 1/7830 for Downs and 1/20000 for trisomies 13/18. Cautiously happy with that although the downs result is a lot higher than the 1/100000 I had last time. Now it seems like a long wait until my next appointment with the MW at the end of the month. I'm thinking about getting a Doppler - has anyone got one/ had one and would you recommend it?

Duckyneedsaclean · 02/07/2016 09:58

DarkLikeVader I was thinking about it too, although I've heard that way madness lies..

MagpieCursedTea · 02/07/2016 10:05

Dark do they factor in age when calculating the DS risk? So would risk automatically go up as you get older? Still very good results though!
I've been tempted to get a Doppler. I didn't get one when I had DS as I was told they can cause stress if you can't find anything or give false reassurance if you're worried (as in if you're not trained to use them, then you might mistake something else for a heartbeat). I don't think midwives are big fans of women having them. On the other hand, I'd quite like to be able to hear the heartbeat!

OP posts:
Kittykitty05 · 02/07/2016 10:29

dark that is essentially a clear result, age is factored in so will be different to previous pregnancies. I had a 1:24 last year, reduced to 1:8, then 1:4 and my baby did have trisomy 13. Don't be concerned by those odds x

Admarks · 02/07/2016 11:23

Dark those risks are really low. I'm 1 in 580 for Downs which seems comparatively high compared to my trisomy 13/18 risks which were both in the tens of thousands. but when put in a percentage it is actually really small. I spoke to the screening midwife who explained it all - mainly related to my age (35 at EDD) and elevated hCG level (2.45 MoM). Risk increases quite quickly every year.....

CluelessKat · 03/07/2016 08:54

Hi,
Can I join? My first baby is due January 8th, very excited as begun telling people last week. I have read 2nd trimester means food cravings, I've had these since week 7! Does anyone who has done this before have a breakdown of when I should be thinking about practical things like pushchairs etc ...January seems a long way off but have a feeling it will suddenly be here and I won't have organised anything!!

CarrotVan · 03/07/2016 09:10

I'd wait until the sales, Kat. Plus people may offer to give you things like pushchairs and cots as gifts or hand me downs. I'd leave it all until nearer the time but possibly start putting money on one side.

I don't think there's a right or wrong time to be honest but some people are superstitious about preparing too much in advance

If you feel the need to be doing something you could start planning a nursery on Pinterest or something...

CluelessKat · 03/07/2016 09:22

Thanks Smile

MagpieCursedTea · 03/07/2016 10:38

Welcome Kat! I agree waiting for the sales is a good idea. I started getting stuff last time around from about 28 weeks. I was going to wait longer but I just got too excited!
This time I've decided to create an Amazon wishlist so I can choose the things I want but won't get them just yet. I made myself wait until after the dating scan to start it. That was last Thursday and I've already got 10 different baby carriers on the list Blush

Had my scan today. Baby was happy and healthy. New edd of 13th January now. Hope everyone else is doing well.

Fab picture Jodie

I know we need a new infant car seat and either a new pram or a newborn insert for the push chair

CharminglyGawky · 03/07/2016 17:42

I haven't posted on here in ages but I'm on the list so thought I'd come back!

Paid for an early scan so already seen LO but have the nhs 12 wk scan on weds which I'm really looking forward to! Also looking forward to telling a few more people, at the moment only our parents know.

Morning sickness is a killer isn't it? I knew it could be bad but didn't expect the grinding ongoing nausea. It started at 6 weeks, almost 12 weeks now and no let up. I have anti-emetics but find they don't work so well if taken daily and work much better if saved for days I really need them, like Wednesday for the scan!

CarrotVan · 04/07/2016 13:00

Booking In complete - just over 2 hours!

Onward referrals to the consultant (due to previous section and hopefully a planned section this time), anaesthetists (due to narrow vertebral spaces for epidural siting), the midwives who specialise in mental health (watching brief just in case) and the maternity physios (early SPD management)

Much blood taken, much screening agreed to.

Scan next Tuesday along with the consultant and blood for the combined test.

I have my green notes and a Bounty pack.

Properly in the system now...
