Cannot believe it's January already! I'm currently in hospital 4 hours into being induced and I'm so bored! Baby was breech so they scanned me last week, only to find baby was no longer breech but actually measuring v small. So no section, but at another scan yesterday they decided to induce while baby and placenta seem healthy. Anyone had a tiny baby? How was the birth and how was the baby? They estimate about 5lb and I'm almost 39 weeks.

Willoughbywolf · 13/01/2017 16:56

Good to see the thread picking up again - it's been so quiet I'd considered starting a thread in chat, but decided against it as it would basically just be me whinging that I was so done with being pregnant now Grin

Hope the induction goes well, hels18 - we must have a similar due date as I'm almost 39 weeks too (due on the 24th). This one (a girl) is measuring smaller than my son but not really tiny, I think she'll be somewhere over 6lbs.

Have not been having Braxton Hicks as such but recurrent period type pains that start in my lower back, very similar to early stages of first labour. They've ramped up a bit in last day or so and have been wondering if I'm starting to dilate, but no waters broken yet so just trying to ignore them until they start getting antisocial. She's been a bit of a troublemaker so far and I wouldn't put it past her to torment me with false contractions for another few weeks Wink

Also, any body else getting lovely stabbing pains in the fanny? Typically happen when I'm either (a) trying to get to sleep or (b) in a busy public place.

Massive congratulations on the new arrivals so far!! Flowers

hels18 · 13/01/2017 20:15

Thank you! Still mainly just waiting but the back pain and contractions/braxton hicks are starting to become a bit stronger than I had experienced at home previously. My DD is 21 Jan so will probably only be a week early by the time it makes an appearance, but a little concerned that it is measuring so small.

The fanny daggers were intense for me a week ago as baby turned and started to engage. So uncomfortable to even just sit! I honestly cannot wait to be able to sit and lie without pain again soon :)

manhowdy · 14/01/2017 15:02

My contractions stopped about 11pm and nothing since. Been wandering around the shops for hours today thinking it may set me off again but nope.

My midwife warned me third labours are always trouble Grin

Hope you've had some more progress now hels Smile

Willoughbywolf yes to the fanny daggers! They really take my breath away.

KimberleyAnn · 15/01/2017 03:03

Won't be long and your little ones will be here. X x

jellybean7890 · 15/01/2017 13:21

hi ladies hope you don't mind me posting here im due on the 23rd but being induced on Tuesday. kinda looking forward to it and kinda scary at the same time as i have never been induced . had a natural birth with DD which was amazing so a bit worried about it

londonflotsam · 15/01/2017 14:35

Any more progress, hels?

In a very dignified turn of events I've had to start wearing maternity pads because I have a wretched cold and every time I cough I do a little wee Blush. Noticed some very pale brown spotting on the pad today and wondering if this is a show? You'd think these things would be easier to call the second time around!

So, feeling crampy and irritable and slightly overwhelmed by DS, who has been smothering me with kisses and cuddles for the last few days. I think we're both freaking out in different ways: him at the prospect of sharing me with a new baby (he's keeps pretending to be a baby and trying to breastfeed which is a little alarming!) and me at the prospect of having a baby and a toddler at the same time!

manhowdy my DM had her third child in my Gran's bed after an active labour of twenty minutes. She had woken up feeling 'a bit uncomfortable' a few hours before and nearly gave birth to my DS on the loo! So third time isn't always difficult Grin

manhowdy · 15/01/2017 17:46

londonflotsam Twenty minutes! I'd take that quite happily even if I had to throw my mattress away afterwards Grin Brown spotting sounds like it could be the start of something for you. Fingers crossed.

jellybean7890 Good luck for Tues. I had an induction with my first (the pessaries not the drip) and didn't end up needing any interventions. Hopefully the same for you. Let us know how you get on Smile

As for me: a good half an hour of shagging this morning (poor DP) then I got up and walked 5 miles. STILL NOTHING.

jellybean7890 · 15/01/2017 19:29

i will thanks mans. i just hope it will be the same for me i don't really want the drip as i would like to have a water birth again
been told that baby is going to be bigger than DD got told 2 weeks ago that baby is 7 pound and 14 ounces i dead to think how big she is now Confused

KimberleyAnn · 17/01/2017 14:07

Manhowdy 30 mins of sex and walking 5 miles that is impressive!!! Hopefully it won't be much longer for you.

I can't believe my little man is 2 weeks tomorrow! It has flown by. It's been so hectic and busy that it's now settling in and my 7 year old seems so grown up, it's very emotional but amazing.

Good luck everyone. Is there a forum we can continue to post on after everyone has had their baby? I still haven't found the Facebook group :(

X

RachaelMary04 · 17/01/2017 19:22

Yes I'd like to join the Facebook group too.. does anyone know how to find/ join it?

hels18 · 21/01/2017 07:19

Sorry for a lack of updates! My little one finally made an appearance on Sunday night after being induced Friday. It was a long labour and it ended up being totally different to how I imagined as I had to have pessaries, gels, an epidural, and the hormone drip to speed up labour. She was also helped out by the doctor with suction in the end as she was starting to get distressed and they needed her out. Luckily she's totally perfect, and although a very tiny 5lb 15, she's almost a lb bigger that they estimated.

This week has been a bit of a blur really of feeding, attempting to sleep and learning a lot!!

Congratulations to other new arrivals!

manhowdy · 21/01/2017 10:01

Congrats hels18!

Sounds like a bloody slog but she's here safe and that is wonderful.

Enjoy Grin
