Baby movements are such a beautiful and magical thing, but when they start having a party at 4am, it's so exhausting! Mine likes an early morning rave, hoping it's not a sign of things to come!

OP posts:
hels18 · 24/10/2016 10:05

It really is incredible! Not sure how much stronger baby can get before busting a hole in my belly - even at 27 weeks you can see it's entire body moving and changing positions!

MagpieCursedTea · 24/10/2016 10:25

I know what you mean! I find the movements almost painful sometimes and he's still going to at least double in size. I don't remember the movements being as uncomfortable last time but I had an anterior placenta then and I've got a posterior one this time. It must be making a difference.
Baby's movements were so strong this morning that they freaked out my 3 year old who was looking in horror at my bump.

OP posts:
hels18 · 24/10/2016 10:34

Haha, your poor 3 year old! Must be a strange concept for them to grasp!

MagpieCursedTea · 24/10/2016 11:18

I think it'll be even stranger for him when his baby brother is here! He's generally quite a laid back kid but his little world is going to change so much.

OP posts:
hels18 · 25/10/2016 08:45

So after seeing the doctor yesterday I've been told to slow down and take it easy or I'll be doing myself a lot of damage. It's really difficult to know at the time how much is overdoing it as I feel ok at the time, but the next day I can't move! Have been referred to a physio so hopefully won't be too long until I can get back to normal.

My body is not used to this extra weight popping out of my belly!!

MagpieCursedTea · 25/10/2016 18:32

It's really hard to slow down, I'm having to because of the SPD and it's driving me mad. I've found I need to ask for help a lot more, luckily I've got people around who have been really supportive. Have you got anything you can delegate? Don't try to do it all yourself!

OP posts:
MagpieCursedTea · 29/10/2016 22:16

It's all gone a bit quiet on here! How's everyone doing?

OP posts:
Vixxfacee · 30/10/2016 09:26

Hi Magpie, it is so quiet on here! The December and February threads are so busy.

How are you? Feel like baby has had a growth spurt this week as he's constantly moving and I can feel in my ribs when I'm driving. Apart from sickness and nausea I'm feeling pretty good and having no symptom. Stomach still hasn't really grown that much and I'm in my size 12 jeans Still!

Chrystal1982 · 30/10/2016 12:05

Room for a newbie? Only just found this thread. I'm 28wks tomorrow, due 23rd Jan 17 with surprise baby (my youngest is 10) had a growth scan at 26wks as previous babies were all tiny, this boy is so far right in the middle of the growth chart thankfully

MagpieCursedTea · 30/10/2016 13:29

Vixx I've been experiencing a come back of my nausea, also quite tired it's like first tri all over again but with added pelvic pain. I'm just wishing the rest of my pregnancy away at this point. I'd love to be enjoying it more! Have you not needed any maternity clothes then? I tried on my pre pregnancy jeans this morning and they still fit, having GD has really controlled the pregnancy weight gain for me. My bump is fairly prominent but there's a lot less of the rest of me. The maternity ones are so much more comfortable though!

Chrystal welcome! Glad to hear your baby boy is growing well! You must've noticed so many changes to maternity services in 10 years. I've only got a 3 year age gap but there's a few differences. I'm in a different area this time too though so that probably makes a difference.

OP posts:
Chrystal1982 · 30/10/2016 14:12

Sorry to hear about your nausea, I've had a few yuck days too and I celebrate if I can through the day without a nap! I've been in maternity jeans since 13wks my bump popped out really early and my usual skinnys had no chance lol I've had lots of 'just the one?' comments on my bump size 🙄
Yeah quite a few changes! I'm at the same hospital but there's a brand new antenatal clinic and midwife led care unit too although I've only been there once for booking appt as I'm consultant led care not that they seem all that interested in me tbh all going well so I'm not back for another growth scan til 32wks. They're all very 'oh 5th baby? You know everything then, call us if you need us' lol

hels18 · 31/10/2016 15:07

Hi Chrystal & welcome. You are almost the same DD as me! I got told originally 17 Jan, then 23 Jan but now DD is 21 Jan. I'm sure mine will be late anyway and possibly even into Feb.

I had a yoga class this weekend and it was great. Enjoyed it way more than I thought I would, and I can definitely feel the benefit today. I also slept for a solid 4 hours, which was a record after my insomnia this week!

Hows everyone else doing this week? Sorry you are feeling a bit pants magpie.

I have my 28 week midwife check tomorrow and am looking forward to being measured. Curious to know how they think baby is developing as still have quite a small bump and am fascinated that they can measure the baby from that.

hopingandwaiting · 02/11/2016 21:51

How did the midwife appointment go hels? Measuring up nicely?

Anyone started antenatal classes yet? Ours start tomorrow - gone for a private course run by a midwife rather than the NHS one (which has only just become available where i live)

Bump has been giving me lots of aches and pains today, but i keep telling myself it's a good reason to be achy and sore!

KimberleyAnn · 04/11/2016 20:56

Hi everyone

How are you all doing? I'm nearly 31 weeks and feeling pretty uncomfortable but trying to get on with it! So excited now I just want it to hurry by!

I asked before but can't scroll through, is there a Facebook group or a way to stay in touch? I'd really like to connect with some of you and stay in touch xx

I'm from Sussex.

Hi everyone, looks like we're all starting to get aches and pains to varying degrees. Roll on the 3rd trimester hey! Hope everyones as well as can be though.
Having a 'oh my goodness i'm having a baby. An actual baby' few days. Feeling rather unprepared as not got much but also thinking what do they actually need that we don't have so alright for now. Was looking forward to shopping - baby and Christmas. Still am but starting to shuffle like a 90 year old lol (seriously was getting odd looks of the old folks in Asda and was wearing a cape so they couldn't even see bump as if to say 'why you going so slow thats our job'). Least I have weekdays free so just going to try and do a little often.

Really debating whether or not to do anti-natal course but so undecided. Last yoga session tonight and don't know whether to carry on or not. Enjoyed it but expensive. Got a hypbobirthing course on saturday which should be interesting.

Vixxfacee · 07/11/2016 16:10

I lost the thread again! I can't believe our one is so quiet!

I am 28.4 weeks now. The last week I have been SO tired and have spent whole days in bed. Have my midwife appointment tomorrow and they will give results of blood tests. I guess I'm still anaemic.

Had a 4d scan Saturday but he had his head back and hand over face so had to reschedule for next week.

Definitely starting to get aches and pains now even though belly hasn't grown much in the last 2 months! He is moving much more now.

I can't justify the price of nct classes. I have a breastfeeding class in December and antenatal class in January.

When is everyone else finishing work? I have made my last day a few days before my due date but I am struggling now in terms of tiredness and motivation!

Hanbeth84 · 07/11/2016 16:30

I am also 28+4 and not feeling that tired but starting to sleep a bit better (touch wood) the nightmares seem to have stopped.
I finish work 8am 2nd January. Because I started my job after becoming pregnant, but before I knew, I felt like I should do the decent thing and work christmas and new year but still think she will be early so didn't want to go any further. What do you do to finish that late? is it a sitting down, not too stressful job? I saw my job advertised today and it came as a surprise as i thought they'd muddle by. Feeling a bit anxious that they might like the new person better.
Not heard of breastfeeding classes but sound useful. Figure i'll ask for help in hospital and go from there if i need it. Bit concerned because boobs haven't changed at all yet. The antenatal classes are cheap round here but just not sure.
My recommendation for anaemia is fortified cereal. Not the healthiest sugarwise but i swear it helped me. I had it with nut milk and oj (cashew tastes the same as regular more or less) as dairy hinders absorbation and the vit d maximises it.

Vixxfacee · 07/11/2016 16:47

Han do you work nights? As you said 8 am 2nd Jan!

I only get statutory maternity pay so I thought I'd stay at work as long as possible. My replacement started last week. She is really enthusiastic, arrives before me and leaves after me! Kind of awkward her starting 2 months before I leave.

I work about 10 mins away and it's mainly a desk job. Will be moving by Christmas though so not sure how that will work.

My breastfeeding are nhs ones so definitely ask about them. What are classed as fortified cereals and has your iron levels improved now?

Hanbeth84 · 07/11/2016 17:34

Oh no i'm such a paranoid person i'd be cursing you're cover lol. Supposed its better to have a handover period but i'd rather pretent they didn't exist! Yeah i work 8pm to 8am but only sat and sunday. Car recovery. I had a very bad experience with my last job which was 8.30 - 5 office job and decent money. I must have got pregnant the week before i left though so think things have worked out ok as i should be able to work this job easily without needing childcare. And I may have naps in the wee hours but shush :). Also with agency for teaching assistant but they're proving next to useless. Will push for more work next september probably. Short commutes are good. And least office work tends to tail off in the xmas run up. Don't envy the moving part though.

Most of Kellogs are fortified and the own brands too. It says on the box but its where they have loads of vitamins added. It was my mum who told me to start eating them again and seemed to work. I started tablets last xmas day and last blood test (booking in) i was fine. Had another one on friday but haven't heard yet. Mw reckoned i look pale but i always am.

hopingandwaiting · 07/11/2016 20:10

We've booked private antenatal classes - run by a midwife of 20 years and cheaper than NCT! First one was good. With working in a school, I'm finishing at the start of the Christmas hols but officially (and luckily) my Maternity leave start date isn't till we go back in January.

Yes to the aches and pains, and the slowing down slightly. I definitely waddle more towards the end of the day! And sleeping is getting harder. Woke myself up by turning over so forcefully that it felt like my stomach was being pulled off!

MagpieCursedTea · 07/11/2016 21:17

I fell off the thread again! Sorry others are getting aches and pains too. I'm reliant on crutches now which isn't much fun!
31+5 today, got my next midwife appointment on Wednesday which will be good after my useless consultant appointment last week in which they didn't check my blood pressure (tried twice and gave up) and dismissed me by answering the phone before I got to talk about my concerns. I wasn't impressed!
Sorry that's a lot of complaining, on the positive side we bought our new pushchair (will be selling DS's) and we're getting our side sleeper soon too.

limitedscreentime · 12/11/2016 19:55

Hi, feeling a bit late to the party but can I join you?! I'm due 13th jan with number 2. First will be two 18th Dec so just extending the festive fun out!

Imstickingwiththisone · 13/11/2016 22:35

Hi limited and everyone else! I slipped off the thread ages ago and waited for it to reappear via Active Conversations which of course it never did Grin

Everyone appears to be in the wars at the minute which I think feels worse because it's so miserable and cold out. Ive been catching every bug going for about 2 months now and tonight I feel completely done in. And to top it off I've got a prolapses womb at the grand old age of 28... do your pelvic floor exercises everyone!!

Not enjoying pregnancy too much this time round. Looking forward to finishing at Christmas but a bit of me is so very selfish and wishing that I could enjoy some alone time sooner than January.

MagpieCursedTea · 14/11/2016 11:32

Welcome limited!

Sticking sounds like you're having a rough time! I'm not enjoying it much this time around either. People keep telling me that I've not got long left but it feels like an eternity still!
