I am due with my first baby january 29th xxxdd

hels18 · 10/08/2016 14:58

hoping Glad I'm not the only one ;) That was my thought too - I would rather tick things off slowly and surely each month than save up and have to get it all in one large chunk when I'm much bigger and not so agile.

Congrats holley and welcome!

Vixxfacee · 10/08/2016 15:00

Hi Holley,

We are putting money away each month and then going to buy everything in the January sales. Once I know what I am having then I think I will probably start buying clothes but for the major things definitely starting boxing day.

hopingandwaiting · 10/08/2016 21:47

Fingers (and legs) crossed that you aren't early then vixx

Clothes is the last thing I'm gonna buy - I figured that that's what other people like to give so we'll probably just get a ton of baby grows and see what we need from there.

peonylover22 · 11/08/2016 06:42

I'm waiting until 28 weeks before making any purchases but doing research and saving before then. My colleagues tell me it's all about the baby show discounts. Apparently if you have some big items eg cot and buggy it's worth going. There's one in London 22-23 October but we'd are at a wedding then.

MagpieCursedTea · 11/08/2016 10:18

I've got a big week next week, 20 week scan on Monday and after my consultant appointment yesterday, found out that I have to go for a fetal heart scan next Thursday. Apparently it's because my GD started so early so there's an increased risk of heart defects. I'm terrified Sad

Hope all goes well magpie.

Enjoy your weekends all, hope you soon start to feel wriggling! I am almost sure I am feeling something in the morning and when I go to bed in the evening, although it could just be my food digesting!

hopingandwaiting · 13/08/2016 09:39

Hello. Speaking of feeling wriggling - I was almost sure I felt it last night. It was like bubbles popping in my abdomen. Odd sensation. I know it's a bit early for a first time mum, but will be eagerly awaiting more!

Have a good weekend guys.

MagpieCursedTea · 13/08/2016 11:12

Thanks hels, those first wriggles are so exciting and slightly confusing. I'm sure it'll become more obvious very quickly!

Hoping bubbles popping sounds very much like early baby movements. Enjoy!

Mumchatting · 13/08/2016 23:25

17 weeks here and started feeling some little movements about a week ago. In my first pregnancy I only started feeling first wriggles after 19 weeks.

thisisbloodyridiculous · 14/08/2016 10:31

I'm 19 weeks and feeling awful. Got the worst joint pain, neck pain & back pain and I'm absolutely exhausted. I have ME & joint hypermobility anyway but I'm feeling really grumpy because of it all today Sad

hels18 · 15/08/2016 09:35

Just over 17 weeks and still not showing properly, but definitely feeling movements every now and again, mostly when I am lying down. It feels so lovely!

Also heard the heart beat with an at home doppler which I borrowed from a friend. Found it very easily and it was very clear, although now my husband has heard it, we probably won't use it again. I know they are a pretty taboo subject on here, but was lovely to share something with my husband since he won't be at my next midwife appointment.

Symptoms (moans) this week - lower back and neck ache and a cold. Being constantly hungry!

MagpieCursedTea · 15/08/2016 16:14

Thisis that sounds tough, I hope you're feeling a bit better today and managing to get plenty of rest.

Hels it's so lovely to hear the heartbeat! My DH was sad he missed it this time, but he's coming to the fetal heart scan on Thursday so maybe he'll get to hear it then? That'll be a nice silver lining. We decided against a Doppler as I'm a worrier and it would only make it worse for me. I was very tempted though. Borrowing one sounds like a sensible way of doing it, it means you get to hear it without the temptation of doing it all the time. Fantastic that you and your husband got that moment together Smile

I had my 20 week scan today, everything looks healthy and it's another boy. He's a real wriggler too which explains the crazy movements I've been feeling.

Janubub · 15/08/2016 18:10

Hello all, a bit late to the party but another January hopeful here - first baby Smile Not sure what we are having as not had 20w scan yet but very excited! Still waiting to feel baby move, getting anxious about this but been told not to worry until 20-22w if first baby?

Magpie - congratulations on another healthy baby boy

MagpieCursedTea · 15/08/2016 20:07

Welcome Janubub! It's quite common to not feel the baby move until later, especially if it's your first. There can be other factors too like the position of the placenta so if it's at the front (anterior) then it can make it harder to feel movement. The movements feel quite strange to begin with too, so it can be difficult to know if you're feeling baby or not. I'm sure you'll feel it soon though! When are you due?

Bex134 · 15/08/2016 21:26

hopingand waiting popping bubbles is how I would describe my movements. This is my first pregnancy so wasn't sure what to expect.. Can't wait for them to be more often. I'm 17+6 today so hopefully not too much longer!

thisisbloodyridiculous · 15/08/2016 22:54

Feeling much better thanks magpie

Spent today buggy shopping with my mum and finally decided on the Baby Jogger City Mini GT! Think we will order it after our 20 week scan (a week on Weds!)
Has anyone else decided on or bought their buggy yst?

Vixxfacee · 16/08/2016 08:43

I am so nervous about buying anything!
I have a pair of converse that I picked up in the sale a few years ago and 3 pairs of socks.
I am 16.5 now. I finally have a bump. In the morning it's tiny but hard and by the time lunch time is here it is massive and noticeable. No movement yet though. My scan is in less than a month.
Still being sick daily which is a pain.

How is everyone else getting on?

Congratulations on your baby boy magpie Smile

hels18 · 16/08/2016 09:05

Congrats on the boy Magpie! We are keeping it a secret so not finding out until the birth. used to think I'd find out as early as possible, but now I'm excited about the surprise :)

We picked up the cot at the weekend. It's a beautiful Stokke Sleepi that I got second hand (SO expensive brand new), although it wasn't used much so is in perfect condition. It's also got all the extender kits so should see us through until baby is about 8 or so!

I'm looking at prams and love the Joolz and Stokke designs, but also quite liking the Buggaboo Bee 3. Am off to John Lewis next week to see them and have a play! As this is my first baby and have never purchased a pram before, can any current mummies recommend anything, and do you have any top tips of what to look out for?

vixarooni · 16/08/2016 09:39

Hi everyone!
I've been avoiding mumsnet since ive conceived because i was always anxious of not feeling things others did or make comparisons! Im due january 8th with pickle as we've named it (we have thought its a boy since day 1 so i may say he a lot!) We find out on thursday hopefully what we are having!

Last night was magic as my OH was able to feel the baby for the first time! Im currently off work with kidney stones so it was nice to have a good moment yesterday!

Have only bought one baby thing, a 5 pack of baby grows. We get married 5 months after the baby is born so im hoping we are going to get given lots. Confused

MagpieCursedTea · 16/08/2016 14:16

Hi vixa I was convinced of a boy too and it is! Hope the kidney stones get better soon, that can't be fun especially whilst pregnant.

Hels I've got a Bebecar IpOp evolution. I really like it and had no plans to get a new one. Although, I've accidentally fallen in love with the Bugaboo Bee though, especially for the buggy board you can get with it! My tips would be to make sure it fits your car, has decent tyres, can lay flat or has a carrycot attachment, that it has some storage space and can adjust well to the right height for you. It's also useful to have one you can click your car seat onto but not essential.

hels18 · 17/08/2016 09:24

Thanks magpie, that is useful.

I had my 16 week checkup with the midwife yesterday (although I am 17+3). She checked my blood pressure, took a pee sample to check for GD and proteins, and talked me through a few options for the birth, although it was quite brief as she said there is time further along to discuss properly.

She then checked the heart beat so I got to hear it very clearly! I asked why some practices don't do it but she wasn't sure, but mine does it as a standard at every appointment from 16 weeks.

hopingandwaiting · 17/08/2016 09:57

Hels Mine don't do it at 16 weeks as it can be tricky to find, and if they don't find it they have to send you for an immediate scan. (she did say if I was desperate she would try) She will do it at 25 weeks.

DarkLikeVader · 17/08/2016 10:08

It's another boy for the thread! I'll have one of each. I really thought it'd be another girl though and DD has asked if we can have a girl 'next time' - she's a bit ahead of me. Bump has been named Humphrey as I can't stop drinking all the milk 🙂

Hanbeth84 · 17/08/2016 11:58

Feels like I'm getting to a turning point now. It's exciting seeing about others 20 week scans and revealing the sex (seems to be a boy zone at the moment lol) and talking about buggys etc.
I only had my 16 week app on Friday and they don't listen for the hb here incase they scare us. Not got scan for another 4 weeks but all of a sudden a little bump has appeared. Or i'm getting FAT as oh likes to joke. Think I can feel little, ever so faint flutters too but reckon they might be more in my head. Or it could be because I work nights and have a night owl! Daren't buy anything yet but feel like I should be as I am prone to being a bit last minute.
