A middle name for Violet

Any ideas for middle names for dd2, who we're going to call Violet? Our surname has 4 syllables, begins with F and ends with u (not English). Do you like Violet Penelope? (Penelope is my dm's name) or do you think Violet needs something shorter and sweeter to complement it? How about Violet Nina or Violet Maeve? - would it look too much llike Violet Mauve?? Please let your creativity run wild as I'd love something beautiful and original but very classy.

Ta!

beauregarde

suzycreamcheese · 18/01/2007 22:11

enid, is that a piece of furniture?

Thanks to all - I love the name Tabitha and had at one point considered it as a first name, but at the moment I'm feeling Violet Belle might be the best option. Btw our surname rhymes with didgereedoo, so I think Violet Belle, Violet Tabitha or Violet Penelope would all sound kind of rhythmically pleasing.

Any more ideas? I love reading them, just as long as the initials don't spell anything rude. I love the mn Dulcie, but it just wouldn't go with Violet of course!!

Violet May ?

Thelittlesoldiersmummy · 18/01/2007 23:56

ohh I love the name Violet would you call her Lottie for short I will be ttc from May (need to lose a bit more of DS bulge before we start) and that is my fav name I was thinking of either Ann or May as as second name x

Surfermum · 18/01/2007 23:56

PMSL @ Enid's suggestion. Violet Beauregard is in Charlie and the Chocolate Factory.

I like Violet Abigail. What about Violet Frances?

springbean · 18/01/2007 23:58

Of course people always mention Violet Beauregarde from CATCF, but if you were thinking of middle names to follow more popular names such as Lily, I could come up with a whole host of fictional characters, Savage for one!!...can't think of any more right now...but now I have no brain....

I was thinking of possible nicknames, not too keen on Vi, bit bluerinse, I quite like Vee, like the character in Zadie Smith's on beauty, although that was short for Victoria...Lottie is sweet, but wouldn't everyone think she was Charlotte, there's Lettie of course, which I also like...

no - not lettie or lottie, the t sound isnt good with violet

jsut to disagree with everyone, i DONT think you should go for rose or any other flower name as a middel name

i also think that you should go for a more "common" middle name, in case she doesn't feel like a Violet when she is a 17yo goth or a 45yo engineer or a 60 yo professor of physics

sorry i am very opinionated about names. but
my best friends name is violet. named after her gran. I thinks its lovely

Greensleeves · 19/01/2007 00:30

Violet Corrine
Violet Blaise
Violet Sian
Violet Carys
Violet Yolanda

"no - not lettie or lottie, the t sound isnt good with violet"

KristinaM, I think springbean meant those as nicknames for Violet, not as middle names.

Mae/May is nice?

Dottydot · 19/01/2007 16:08

Violet Matilda (I love the name Matilda and haven't had the chance to use it!! )

springbean · 19/01/2007 16:08

Anybody else out there with an opinion?, I'm beginning to think that Violet Belle is the loveliest option, makes me think a little of bluebells and sparkly things.

Please give me your other suggestions for middle names, Blaise is certainly unusual!
