A middle name for Violet

Any ideas for middle names for dd2, who we're going to call Violet? Our surname has 4 syllables, begins with F and ends with u (not English). Do you like Violet Penelope? (Penelope is my dm's name) or do you think Violet needs something shorter and sweeter to complement it? How about Violet Nina or Violet Maeve? - would it look too much llike Violet Mauve?? Please let your creativity run wild as I'd love something beautiful and original but very classy.

Ta!

Hi Suzy, I think I'm going to go with Violet Belle, which is the only one I have thought 'yeah!!' about, plus it's had more positive responses than the others, do you agree?

whats your surname? if you have a short surname you can have a longer middle name and it flows nicely. ie violet anastasia grey. whereas violet anne grey sound nice but is a bit more clipped if you see what I mean.

Catbabymummy · 21/01/2007 18:41

lol at Voilet Crumble.

Incidently, Nestle started selling it over here in England but called it Golden Crumble. Go figure!

Havn't read whole thread but just make sure you don't go for Violet Elizabeth . Violet is a lovely name but I think it could do with a short middle name like Eve or May.

riab · 22/01/2007 19:01

I like penelope, especially if its a family name.
I like rose and Mae, the single syllable sounds good after violet.

Eleanor is a lovely name and can easily be shortened to Ellie, Nellie, Nel, Lena etc etc

Aloha · 22/01/2007 19:14

I would go with your mum's name. Partly because nobody ever really says your full name anyway (when did you last announce yourself as, say, Susan Mary Wilson or whatever?) and also because I think middle names are a perfect way of giving a child a link with their wider heritage and family, and it would make your mum so very happy. And also, when she says 'why did you call me Violet Penelope' you can say, 'because you were as beautiful as a flower, and because Penelope is your grandmother's name'. I gave my dd my middle name which was also my grandmother's name, and I really wish I'd given my son a family middle name as well (John or Joseph)

Ready · 22/01/2007 19:20

Violet Belle or Violet Rose out of the suggestions posted.

Rodeo · 23/01/2007 09:20

Violet Ophelia
Violet Claribel
Violet Delphi
Violet Delilah
Violet Arabella?

Love Violet Penelope though

Tutter · 23/01/2007 09:22

dh's grandmother was violet tinkerbelle

i wouldn't recommend it

you have an awful lot of syllables going on in your name

stick with a short middle name

eve? kate? yes, may/mae ok too

but def avoid any other names w flower connotations!

aderyn · 23/01/2007 09:23

I instantly thought of Violet Anne. Is there a famous one? I see other people have had the same thought.
