A middle name for Violet

Any ideas for middle names for dd2, who we're going to call Violet? Our surname has 4 syllables, begins with F and ends with u (not English). Do you like Violet Penelope? (Penelope is my dm's name) or do you think Violet needs something shorter and sweeter to complement it? How about Violet Nina or Violet Maeve? - would it look too much llike Violet Mauve?? Please let your creativity run wild as I'd love something beautiful and original but very classy.

Ta!

violet june?

mamama · 18/01/2007 02:43

I like violet nina & violet penelope but I was thinking that with a long surname, maybe a shorter middle name would flow better...

I really like Violet Maeve and Violet June is pretty too

Actually, now I've said it aloud, Violet Penelope 4-syllable-surname-beginning-with-F-ending-with-U sounds good too but would probably depend on what your last name actually is. If it has lots of Ps in it, it probably would be too much...

So, I was no help at all! Sorry

eidsvold · 18/01/2007 05:22

like Violet Maeve - what about Violet Mae

Ulysees · 18/01/2007 05:26

like violet mae

gr8mama · 18/01/2007 05:31

Yes i like Violet May or Mae.

suis · 18/01/2007 05:44

Violet Mae sounds like it should be a hyphenated name, and Penelope has lots of syllables which could make it a bit of a mouthful if you've got a big surname too.

How about Violet Maura, it's an Irish name and a fave of mine (though DP won't hear of it for ours) and it gives a crisper sound to compliment the softness of Violet (lovely name by the way)

Budababe · 18/01/2007 06:34

Violet Rose?

NewMoonOnMonday · 18/01/2007 06:40

I love Violet Maeve - it's delightful.

As I was opening the thread I was thinking of May/Mae for a middle name but I think Maeve is perfect. Wouldn't worry about the purple (violet/mauve) connection.

Violet Anne

I agree with Violet Rose, sounds lovely. Very flowery theme there though!

SSShakeTheChi · 18/01/2007 08:09

Or what about a name that would accord with the surname. So if the surname is say Romanian - a Romanian middle name?

schneebly · 18/01/2007 08:12

Agree with Budababe - Violet Rose is lovely.

bran · 18/01/2007 08:16

I like Violet Michelle, it seemed instantly so right than I wonder whether I know someone by this name.

McDreamy · 18/01/2007 08:16

Violet Niamh?

Another vote for Rose or Mae here. I do think that a single syllable would flow better, and would worry about the colour connection with Maeve.

sandcastles · 18/01/2007 08:24

Violet Ava

or as Eidsvold suggested Violet Mae

springbean · 18/01/2007 10:42

Hi again, I was thinking about Violet Belle, any thoughts!

I think Violet Rose would be a bit too flowery! nice though it is, and Violet Ruby would be too colourful, wouldn't it?
